Throughout our lives, we come across many leaders, it could be at work, at church, in sports, at politics, in many places and in television. There are leader everywhere, of course many of them influenced your way of thinking, way of living and even decisions that changed the course of your life. For better or for worse.
Maybe today you are a leader in your company or a sector or an specific area, where people await for your solutions. If leaders have so much influence in other people lives, have you stopped to think about the different characteristic in leaders? Or even better, are all of them leaders?
Or are some of them Bosses? So, what is the actual difference between a Leader and a Boss? And how does that deeply impact your life?
I would like to make you reflect a little more about some questions that perhaps most people don’t know why or the answers. How can an employee move towards the right direction of growth? How can a company have employees that are in love and enthusiastic?
Until what point can leadership compromise the results of management? So the answer to all of those questions are on the Quality of the leader or in the Incompetence of the boss. Which side are you on?
Or from what fountain are you receiving? Or are you a leader or a boss? I’ll like to say that everything starts in your mind, how do you think?
“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. ” The great truth is that most leaders are completely ill and where there is an ill leader the rest suffers, the followers suffer. Sick leaders and bosses are normally insecure, melancholic, full of excuses, etc.
But many times they will have a smile on their face covering any margins of bad impressions. Well, than how can we find out the difference between a leader and a boss? Bosses like to diminish people, that’s the most common practice.
They threat, they control, they own people, they use people, and they still call that leadership. Understand this, leadership is something totally different from that. And if you allow me, I’ll use the example of the biggest leader once existed.
I don’t want to talk about spirituality or religion, but about leadership. He says: If you want to be bigger than you must serve. If you want to be first, you need to serve.
I didn’t come to be served, but to serve. It’s completely different than what people say about leadership, what “Leadership”is. The word “servant” means self-distribute.
It means that you serve with your talent, what is your talent? How have you been serving? Listen, leaders don’t control people, leaders develops people.
Leaders don’t bully people, leaders inspire people. Leaders don’t manipulate people leaders train people. Leaders don’t oppress people, they release people.
Are you a leader? Listen, give authority to the wrong person can ruin the lives of a lot people, and that’s dangerous Than the guy says : “I’m the new manager now, I’m in charge, do it as I say, it’s an order! ” Man, you are completely ill.
Leaders that are sick and insecure are authoritarian. And that serves for everything, even in a relationship If a guy turns to a girl and says: Do it as I say, I’m the man, I command you, you better obey me. Man you cannot command anything because you’re insecure.
But be careful not to mix up in management enterprise the attitude, the will power of a leader, the will power of a guy that knows how to do it. Could be confused by an demanding boss, when that’s not it, the leader needs to have attitude, not acting with authoritarianism. Leaders roar like lions and move forward, bosses humiliate others and don’t develop anything So if you are a boss a “leader”, for more than 30 years and people still depend in you, you´re a failure.
Leaders develop, and create a legacy, they leave a legacy. But not a boss, the boss only likes his close friends that will give him security not to lose his job. The words of bosses and leaders many times could be similar.
But the results reveal the real leaders. You were created to dominate your talent, not other people. Your talent benefits others.
Are you a leader? How much have you been studying to be better? How much have you improved and passed your knowledge to your followers?
Have you thought about how many people are in need of your knowledge, to know what you went through? You’re sick, are you transmitting diseases? Or are you healed and ready to shake other peoples’ hearts towards a bigger mission?
Because sometimes you think about a team of a thousand people, a hundred people. Look, if your team has two people you have a lot of responsibility over the lives of these two people. And God will not give you more if you don’t take care of two people.
You don’t deserve three. If you can’t take care of three, you don’t deserve four. Real leaders don’t search for followers, the followers are attracted to the real leaders.
That’s why there is a difference between work and job. Job is what they pay you to do work you were born to do. Your job is your capacity, your work is your talent.
They can fire you from the job, but they can’t take away your talent. Your job will help you pay the bills your work will make you a successful person. When a crises comes, the boss has a strong fear of being fired, a leader has a strong belief of his mission.
Bosses desire to occupy peoples place, leaders desires peoples’ growth Leaders seek to know the price of growth, how much will it cost, how much will I sacrifice, how much will I have to improve? Leaders are not envious there is no such thing in leadership. Leaders calculate how much will it cost for them to grow.
They are not envious, there is no such thing in a serious leadership. They don’t look at what others have but what they will become, their virtues, their essence, their heart, not what they have in hands. Leaders don’t have a job, hey have a career.
Leaders are truly convicted. Leaders could see their visions through images. Without vision, you could never be a leader.
Vision is seeing your destiny through images. Vision is to see your future in the present. It’s to have conviction of whatever is going to happen.
There isn’t any doubts, no crises, no blah blah blah. He is sure, he has vision, he has conviction, he has blood in his eyes, that’s leadership. Now that you have vision, the next step is passion.
To be a leader you need to have passion. And that’s how most leaders now a days are. Why?
Because there’s no vision. Why? Because there’s no conviction.
Why? Because there’s no purpose. So everything they have is a job and a title.
And maybe that’s your leader. You see how that can influence your life? You see how that can retard your growth?
Or perhaps you are a boss? Real leaders normally don’t discover a reason to live, but they discover something they desire until they die, if it’s necessary, just to accomplish a purpose. Will you be willing to die for what you are doing?
I’m talking about great leaders not bosses. Passion is what differs a leader from a bosses. Bosses work for a company, leaders work for a purpose.
Bosses are hired, leaders are victims of a vision. Are you a leader just because you have a salary? Then you’re a boss.
Where there are bosses the companies are in crises. Where there are leaders the companies keep on multiplying. Passion is a desire that is bigger than the opposition.
Passion is a desire bigger than the critics. When people attack you, the passion will save you. People will follow you when they see that you are willing to die for the passion that you have just to defend it, that’s sacrifice.
Are you a leader or a boss? Do you have vision or just a simple job? Passion inspires others, if you don’t know how to inspire others, you will end up manipulating them.
Leadership is in inspiring others. Inspiring people produce much more. Real leadership means that you bring life to others.
Your passion is the breath of your leadership. Maybe your company is not growing because for you it’s just a job. Discover your passion and follow the vision of your company and people will be attracted to you by your passion.
Another thing, if people are afraid of you, than you’re not a leader. If people only do things when you are around, than you are a failure. You’re not an inspiration you’re an intimidation.
Inspire others by your passion. Inspiration is a deposit of life, when you inspire, when your company inspires, when passion flourishes in your skin, wherever you go, you contaminate. Wherever you go your happiness impacts others, everything flourishes, everything prospers, because your inspiration, your passion is bigger than any opposition or crises.
Success is the reflection of inspiration. When you ask a real leader: what are you doing? He is going to say: I’m doing this.
Ten years later you can ask him again: what are you doing? He is going to say: I’m doing this, with the same conviction because he is full of vision. Do you know why people change every week, every month?
Because they don’t have vision. They are governed by social media, or any other anything, anybody, someone you don’t even know, you don’t even know what story they’ve build. But people listen and follow that, and then another one comes and says something else, and theyfollow that.
