He got very angry and knocked at his bosses office door, the Boss said come in, and when he walks in he says: Look, I don’t understand, I am 10 years in the company, and Richard in 6 months was promoted before me? The very smart boss said: Peter, I’m happy you came here, I need to buy some fruits to serve to all employees after lunch, I was thinking about buying an orange, I was thinking about something sweet to give them after lunch.
Can you go to the market and see if they have fruits for me to serve for the employees? He didn’t really understand, but he said: Ok fine, I’ll go. So I walked about three blocks and found another market with better fruits, I saw that they had oranges, so I went forward and negotiated the prices, and got them for a cheaper price. But I also saw the prices for other fruits in case you want, there are grapes for this price, and etc. If you want to buy all that I can also get us a discount for this many, what would you like?
The boss said: Alright Richard, thank you, I’ll think about it and if anything I’ll call you again. After Richard left the office the Boss turns to Peter and says: Peter, what did you tell me when you walked into the room? And Peter asked for forgiveness and left his bosses office .
You probably heard this story before but have you stopped to think about the intensity in this story? Have you stopped to think about if maybe you are one of these employees that does not do things with excellence? Have you stopped to think if maybe people ask you something and you do the basic, or you don’t even do it right?
Have you stopped to think if you have intensity in everything you do? The worse thing is for a boss to ask something for his employee and he delivers a poor job, he doesn’t do an excellent job. If he is not good with whatever he has in hands, would he deserve something better?
Reflect upon that, it’s something so simple! Excellent is what attracts excellence. If you are excellent than it’s just a matter of time before you grow, for you to be promoted, or at least people around you will see that you are excellent.
A careless person is conformed with anything, and whoever is conformed with anything, will get anything. Because they don’t know where they want to get. But a someone that has the profile of excellence, it’s natural for them to be upset with whatever is basic because they always search to do the best.
Another important things is, doing the best for your self means doing the best for others. People don’t understand that. “I didn’t do the best because it wasn’t for me!
” Understand that you serving with excellence means that you are an excellent person. That’s connected to you, not the other person. “Ohh no, but his winning, the boss is winning” Don’t think like that, only mavericks think like that.
An excellent person does the best for whoever is around, for another person, for whoever needs help. That one is excellent as a nature, and excellence comes back to them, understand that. Because excellence is confronting your self everyday in whatever you have already done.
It’s knowing that whatever you have conquered is better to be in the trash because better things are yet to come. Its for you to search for that with all you got.
