what's up guys at the end of this video you know exactly how to set up a test campaign on Pinterest what budget to use what campaign type to use how many ads you should use basically my entire Pinterest ads testing strategy let's get straight into the video first thing we got to do is to obviously go to pinterest.com business slash create and give up your email address and your age and click create account alright so this takes us to this page right here you have to fill in your profile name so that's just your name
of your store and then you have to enter your website and finally it asks for your country and your language language obviously you can pick whatever you want country make sure it's the country where your business is registered and then it asks for these questions right here so you can select whatever Niche you're in if you have a general store you sell multiple niches just pick one doesn't really matter and then I always just pick the top three things here because obviously we want to sell products then describe your business so here we have our
online retail then you can select Shopify here if you have a Shopify store and you can select yes I'm interested in advertising and now we can skip this if you are new definitely make use of this because you can basically get a Pinterest rep that can help you with your ads now from my experience they don't always give like the best advice on ads but they definitely can help you and they have data that you can see yourself so it's really useful and you can always ask your questions to them as well alright this page
here we can just click away then what you want to do is go to your account settings because here we want to obviously create our account and make it look nice which you can do at the settings and here you can change your public profile so your image name basically whatever you want to say to people that visit your profile okay and once you set up your public profile it's time to connect our Pinterest stack this helps us to track data from our ads and what you want to do here is go to your Shopify
store select apps and search for Pinterest okay and there are different options here different apps that you can use to set up your tracking I'm just going to show you guys the official app from Pinterest which is free to use it doesn't always give the best tracking there are some solutions to get better tracking if you're interested in that just send me a DM on Instagram and I can help you with that for now I'm just gonna keep it simple so that everyone who wants to basically use the free version can use it just make
sure to add Pinterest to your Shopify store click add sales Channel like I said it's free so it's not gonna charge anything and once you got Pinterest connected it has to connect your Pinterest account so just click this button we are logged into our Pinterest account right now so as you can see it's automatically detecting our account and we can just say give access all right now our store is connected to our Pinterest account but there's one more thing that we need to do and that's to go to marketing right here and we want to
set up a Pinterest stack so first we have to accept these terms and conditions editions which is fine and now that's it our tag is installed everything is connected automatically now we can't immediately run campaigns before you can run campaigns you actually have to get some sales right now if you go to Pinterest we refresh and we click create campaign you'll find that we cannot create a conversion campaign yet as you can see it looks like we haven't seen any conversion data from Pinterest tag or API for conversions so it asks us to set up
conversion data first which we already did like we already set up our tag but because we don't have any sales yet we can't create conversion campaigns I have a trick that you can use if you want this trick you can go to my Discord I've shared it there for free which basically allows you to set up conversion campaigns within like one to two days otherwise you'd have to wait before you get sales organically and that can take quite a long time for now I'm just gonna do the trick and I'll be back with you guys
in one to two days alright it is currently Friday two days after we created our Pinterest account we did our little secret trick and now we can create conversion campaigns and the first step is to go to ads and click create campaign as you can see when we click conversions we don't get a pop-up telling us that we need to get more sales we can actually create conversion campaigns and the first thing that you're going to do is obviously give your campaign a name usually what I do is just pick the name of the product
and we're gonna take the product of the previous videos the silver cover as an example and I'll show you guys how to set up a test campaign and you can do this for every product of course and then here you're gonna put the margin now I'm not sure if this is the exact margin I didn't check this yet but just make sure to put your margin here and then what I like to add is the date when I launch the campaign so it's the 3rd of March and this is usually what our campaign names look
like if you have experience on advertising on Tick Tock Facebook whatever and you have different setup you like to use do it just make sure that you give it a campaign name that just helps you to analyze your data faster so if you just click on to see what your margin is so you can check if the CPA is profitable or you want to put your break even rows here whatever you want to use make sure to do so also if you want to filter on whenever something is launched it's really easy you can just
type 3 March and then you find all the campaigns that are launched at a date so just make sure you use something that you like to use but make it easy to analyze your data campaign status we're going to leave it to active obviously campaign budget daily and for the campaign budget for the tests I never test with more than five dollars a day now this is in Euros doesn't really matter five euros five dollars but I never use more than five euros a day as a test campaign even for a brand now the next
thing you have to do first you see this ad group name here I'm just gonna leave this to be honest when I create the test campaign I never really change anything here because we just have one egg in here and this alone tells me it's a test at group but if you want you can put the interests that you're going to select which will do later you can put them in the ad group name now the first thing you have to do when you're on the ad group level is to select one of these three
as you can see you can't do anything else until you selected one of these three the first one reconnect with users you want to use this if you're going to do retargeting as it says here retarget people who have already interacted with your brand you don't have to use this you can also choose your own but if you want to create a simple redirecting campaign you can select this one now we're going to make a test campaign so that's not what we're going to do here the second option is find new customers this you can
use for a test campaign the final option choose your own basically gives you all the options that you have in the first two as well and I always select choose your own because you can select everything again that you can select in the other two the other two is just a simpler way and just prevents you from using other options so choose your own and then the first first we want to do obviously is go to demographics and make sure we select the right country so click on locations pick specific locations and choose the countries
that you want to Target in this case I just want to Target the US languages I'm just going to leave it to all languages because even though people sometimes have their languages set to non-english they can still speak English so I'm just going to leave to all languages if you're targeting a different country then you do want to obviously select the specific language that is spoken there the phiasis you can leave it to all devices all ages and all genders in this case if you have a product that is for a specific age or a
specific gender then you want to pick it here too now when we set our demographics we go back up and we're going to select our interests and keywords as you can see right now we have an audience of 80 million these are all the users in the United States we want to narrow this down to kind of help the algorithm we have a test campaign you can start Broad and what happens if you start broad broad means that you just don't select any interest or you select all the interests what happens is that it's gonna
take more time it's gonna need more time to optimize your campaign because it has more options to choose from what you want to do is go here into interest here you can add keywords as well personally I never test with keywords I always use interests at first and you want to pick interests that are relevant to your product okay so you want to kind of guess where your audience is so you help the algorithm and you make this audience size you make it smaller so that Pinterest doesn't have to go through all these people that
are not interested in your product anyways okay something that you can do at first is just type in the word and see if there are any interests related to your product so as you can see here we get home decor couches and Sova Furniture as you can see silver it's not mentioned here but Pinterest recognizes that this is an audience that may be interested in your product so if we select this one we select the entire home decor interest as you can see see that's still a very big interest because it's a very popular topic
on Pinterest if you select this one then you can see this is within home decor but it's a lot smaller so this is only a couple hundredk now it's like Furniture see what happens so Furniture is pretty big you want to keep this in mind and we want to select maybe a bigger audience so as you can see here these arrows says that home decor room decor is within home decor living room is within room decor and so on so we go back to all interests go back to room decor or a home decor and
then room decor and then you want to just basically go through this and see all right what if we just select living room all right so that adds a couple million as well it's still a little bit too big so what if we select living room furniture still pretty big then we have living room seating so that's even more specific okay so this is just a couple million if we remove furniture let's see where it is as you can see this is still a couple million and this is probably where our audience is at and
what we can do is even select all this here so even though living room chair is not the most specific interest that is relevant to this product obviously couches and Sova is more relevant but still there could there's a high chance that the audience is within this too now as you can see if you select these interests here it's going to be smaller so again if we select the top interest it's going to be 5 million and if we just narrow it down it's only a couple hundredk that's because not everyone within living room seating
is within any of these six interests okay what I'm gonna do for now is I'm just gonna leave it to living room seating I am going to go back to Furniture to see if there are any sub-interest okay there's no sub-interest if we select Furniture as you can see the audience becomes pretty big so I'm not gonna do that for now usually I want to keep it between 1 to 10 million what you can do is just go through here and see if there are any more relevant interests to your product so just go through
here and see if you can find something that is very close to the product that you're selling okay as of right now I can't really find anything that's more relevant than the interest that we already selected so that is living room furniture and just the interest Furniture overall so that takes us to 10 to 11 million that's fine if it's a little bit a little bit above 10 million it's fine so we're just going to start with these two interests because again the chance that our audience is Within These interests is very high so we
for example don't have to go through the audience of Health which has nothing to do with the product that we're selling all right now let's move down so here we have placement and tracking you don't have to do anything here also audience lists and add an audience list this is more for retargeting or look like audiences so this is something you don't have to use for your test campaign as well then we go down to budget and schedule all campaigns in Pinterest are CBO campaigns which stands for campaign budget optimization so you set the budget
at the campaign level that's why you can't really change anything here because you already set these options here at the campaign level then we move down to optimization and delivery you want to make sure that you have the checkout selected here sometimes if you start the checkout option is not available yet our trick that we did in order to get conversion campaigns helped also to enable this checkout thing here as you can see this is the only thing we have now sometimes it's set to add to cards we didn't do any other cars so far
so that's why we can't see it here yet but it doesn't matter because we want to select checkouts anyway because we want to optimize for people that are going to buy our products AKA do checkouts so make sure checkout is selected here and if you don't have option and you only have add to cart you can just start with that but you want to switch as soon as possible then for bidding you want to keep it to automatic last thing we need to do is to create our ads as you can see here and within
Pinterest you use your pins to show as ads so we need to create a pin there are three options here the first one is Select pins if you didn't create your ad yet then you can't select anything here the next thing is create a pin and then create an ID pin i d pin it's kind of like The Tick Tock within Pinterest every platform nowadays tries to be like Tick Tock so Pinterest also has a section where you can continue scrolling and see videos these are called ID pins uh I have tested it so far
it can help grow your account but it's not really effective as to advertising so here you want to select create a pin and the first thing you can do is to select your video upload your video and as you can see it's uploading and the next thing you need to do is add a destination link obviously this is really important just copy this you can add tags you can add a description but for your ads it's not that important because you are paying to show it to people and not trying to show it organically but
it is very helpful if these pins get organic traction as well so it's always good to add a description and to add text to the product so for example if you type in Sova as you can see here you can select sofa leather sofa and you can just give it some tags just to feel sober and just as many that are relevant to sovas and then for the description what you want to do is you actually want to go into Pinterest type into the search bar Sova or sofa cover and see whatever pops up and
make a description with these keywords so in here you have a couple keywords obviously you have sofa new looking sofa New Sofa soft silver covers soft silver protect Silva so there's a lot of keywords in here in this description that's basically what you want to put there and you can even put some hashtags here too so you can do hashtag sofa sofa design obviously you need to do your research as to what keywords and what hashtags perform well and hashtag silver cover so this can help to make your pins go viral or get some traction
organically as well alright and then we move up to the pin title the pin title as you can see here has to be really sure because your first 40 characters are what usually show up in feeds and you have up to 100 characters but as it says here not everyone gets to see this depending on what device they use you just want to be very short there's kind of like two ways that I like to use right now the first one is just say like 50 off get yours today just really focus on selling the
product now this can work if people are really happy with the video and they think all right I need this and then they see all right 50 off I'm gonna buy this right now the other one is a little bit more subtle and doesn't really say that it's an ant immediately and this is something I like to use more because there's no text in here that says this video is an ad basically whole pin just looks like a normal pin of a user showing something to another user the only thing that shows that it's an
ad is when you're within Pinterest it says promoted by as I've showed in a product research video earlier but not everyone reads the pin title anyways keeping it a little bit more subtle but you do want to say something here that makes him interested in watching the video or click and go to your website alright so for example turn any old server into looking brand new as you can see we have 59 checks remaining so without the exclamation mark we used 40 characters so it fits perfectly it says something that if someone has an old
serve and he or she wants to have a brand new look intova it's gonna make them interested into watching the video and from the video makes them interested into going to your website or from the title itself but basically just say something like a benefit or or something that someone could think with the benefit also you can be creative here but you want to keep it short and make sure you just like with a title of a product description make sure you touch on their emotions all right and then the final part is to select
your board as you can see we don't have a board yet so what we can do here is you can make a generic board or you can divide it into different categories if you sell multiple products so for example what we can do here is Select home decor and click create and now our pin is finished but before I'm going to click publish we always want to test with two to four pins preferably with four pins two to four pins is better for the algorithm four pins is better for you because you have four chances
to have an ad that is doing very well and makes people want to buy a product so what you can do is Click these three dots here and click duplicate then delete the video and upload your second video and you keep doing this and now we can click publish all and as you can see we do have an error over here so it says one error detected unfortunately Pinterest is full of errors it's better than it used to be but still you can get some errors every now and then as you can see something went
wrong here it only chose three of the four ads so what you have to do is just go here go to select pins and as you can see right now you only have two so sometimes you'd have to wait a little bit before Pinterest has all the four pins shown up in here now these four pins are shown up in here sometimes you have to deselect and then select it again click add four pins as you can see right now it's adding four and now we can click publish and our campaign is launched and now
you just want to do the exact same thing for all your other products that you're going to launch if you're going to launch multiple products of course we are going to do this what you can do instead of creating a new campaign is just duplicate this one change the name right here you can leave this click continue and then obviously choose different interests if you select different types of products and remove the pins here so you can just remove all these as you can see here and then you can create your new pins and that
saves you a lot of time because you don't have to go through all the settings again all right after launching your test campaign usually what I do is I'll wait for at least three days before I'm going to make any decisions so by then they've spent around 15 and with 15 spent I can tell if they're going to perform well or not so I'm gonna either kill the campaign turn it off if it's not going to do well or I'm gonna optimize it or I'm going to scale it if it already did very well now
