yes stories are more important than perfect pronunciation in English have you ever noticed that some people can talk and just cannot stop listening it's like this magic that pulls you in and it's just impossible to stop to listen to them now what if I told you that this magic is not about perfect pronunciation it's not about knowing the big words it's actually something that it's been around for a long time as old as time itself and it's called storytelling think about it for a second stars have been around for a long time and it's actually
what connect us you know they help us understand the word better and you know connect with each other in a deeper level and here's the thing getting good at telling stories can seriously improve your English no matter where you at right now just imagine being able to speak English in a way that grabs people attention where they listen to you even if you accident isn't perfect or you make few mistakes by focusing on storytelling you become more confident and your English skills will improve naturally so in this video I'm going to show you exactly how
storytelling can help you not only boost your confidence but also sharpen your pronunciation by the end of this video you'll be ready to tell your own stories in English and see how much of a difference this makes and when I say Stars I'm not talking about what's Upon a Time no nothing like that I'm talking about stars from your own experiences opinions that's what I'm talking about now I know pronunciation is a big thing for a lot of people trying to get all the words right make sure that your accent doesn't get in a way
sounding as clear as possible but here's something a lot of people don't realize when you tell a story you naturally improve your pronunciation skills without even thinking about it why because when you tell a story you're focus it on making it interesting and that means you automatically start to play with the way you say things you might slow down your voice to create suspense or you might raise your voice to create excitement or maybe you emphasize a word so you make sure that the listener get the point all these little things make your pronunciation better
more Dynamic and natural for example let's say you're telling a story about a time that you got lost in the big city as you start to describe the moment that you realize that you were lost you might slow down your pit a little bit maybe even drop your voice a little bit to show that feeling of worry then when you start talk about finding your way again your voice pick up and your words might come out a little bit faster showing a sign of relief and this is not something that you can easily learn with
textbooks or pronunciation apps it's only at the moment because you're there telling a story and you try to tell a story in a way that makes the listener feel what you felt so let me tell you a story I had two friends that were learning English right one had perfect pronunciation but he didn't know how to talk to people that that well the other one didn't have a good pronunciation but he knew how to tell stories he knew how to communicate really well and to engage the audience one my friend that had perfect pronunciation would
talk to people you know people would be surprised you know that's that's really amazing you know you you're not a native speaker in your prci stations like that like congratulations and the only thing that he would do is talk about normal things and simple things I do that you know my name is that so he didn't know how to engage the audience the people that he was talking to but my other friend was something else he had a strong accent he didn't have the best pronunciation but when he talked to people he knew how to
engage The Listener the person that was talking to him would start laughing would you know be engaged in the conversation almost not even blink at all he almost felt like he was made for that you know and the people that he talked to they would be so surprised that that guy didn't have a perfect accent didn't have a perfect pronunciation didn't even know all the words but he knew how to engage the audience he knew how to engage The Listener and even some cases when people made fun of him because of his accent because of
his pronunciation because of his poor pronunciation he wouldn't care that much he just would make fun of himself and he just would tell stories afterwards and it was just incredible to see him so let me ask a question between these two people who do you think had the best connections who do you think you know had the best laughs of course the guy that didn't have the perfect pronunciation but he knew how to engage Eng the listener he knew how to engage the audience because he knew how to tell stories he mastered the skill of
Storytelling and you don't have to be born like that you can learn this skill and this skill will make you improve your English more naturally and faster so next time you work on your pronunciation don't try to repeat phrases over and over again try to tell stories instead you will see how much more natural your speech becomes and probably to be honest you have more fun along the way think about it at the end of the day having a perfect pronunciation just means that you know how to you know pronounce words correctly but they are
just sounds in a way to truly connect with people to truly you know build a connection you have to know how to tell stories I bet you can take a native speaker that has perfect initiation but doesn't know how to talk to people doesn't know how to connect with people and take a non native speaker that has an accent that doesn't you know pronounce every word right but he knows how to make people laugh he know how to tell stories and I bet he would build so many more connections he will you know succeed so
much more in a social environment that you have no idea now let's talk about confidence confidence is a topic is the most impossible to avoid you know I know English speaking English is really hard when you start speaking English you get nervous it's really nerve-wracking and it's easy to feel like a different person when you switch to English and maybe you're more reserved an introvert it don't speak up too much and here's the thing confidence isn't just about speaking perfectly or you know knowing all the words it's about connecting with people and that's when storytelling
comes in when you tell a story you're not just throwing random sentences out there you're trying to share a piece of your own experiences your thoughts a piece of yourself that makes what you saying more meaningful both to you and to the person that you're talking to and when what you saying has meaning you start to feel more confident about what you saying now let's say you're telling someone about a time that you tried something new let's say you try to cook a very complicated dish instead of just saying I cook something new talk about
why you started talk about the time that you try something before the time that you tried to cook something before but it didn't work by turning it into a story you giving yourself more work and not just listening facts you're sharing an experience and that is one of the most powerful skills to have and here's the thing when a person that is listening to you is listening closely is nodding along that just makes you feel more confident and maybe even laughing and funny parts and you start to realize that it's not about being perfect you
know it's about making a connection it's about being relatable and as you get used to tell stories in English you you know you start to build that confidence and you realize that you're going to you know speak up more in conversations sharing your thoughts without worrying too much about getting everything perfect this kind of confidence is really powerful because it's not about feeling better in the moment it's about becoming a better speaker overall the more confident you are the more you're going to practice and the better you're going to get it's just a cycle that
starts with telling a story now let's talk about how storytelling can make you memorize things better and build a strong vocabulary we all know how important it is to learn new words to get better at English but memorizing lists of words every day is not very fun and kind of boring but there's a method to learn new words that it's way more fun and effective and is by using words in stories here's why it works so well you're not just learning the word on its own you are connecting it to a experience that you had
to a vivid experience to a moment an amazing moment that you had in your life which makes it easier to remember because when you take a word and a story that is really important to you or that you not going to forget for a long time and you connect that word with that story it's just a completely different thing it just makes that word stick in your memory for a long time and it's going to be really hard for you to forget that word afterwards because you're going to connect with a story that is really
meaningful to you now let's say you try to memorize the word drive you don't know the word drive just an example but you remembered a time that you were driving but suddenly something really crazy happened maybe like you almost ran over someone or maybe you crash the car something like that something that is is going to be impossible for you to to actually not remember if you connect that word somehow with the story it's going to be really hard for you not to remember that word I'm telling you so when you need to use the
word drive you instantly recall that moment that memory and the word will come naturally to you and the word Drive is just a just an example a simple example you have to use this method with more complicated words with words that you don't easily remember and this technique will also help you build a strong vocabulary because when you tell stories you find yourself reaching for new words all the time and often you're going to realize that some words that you didn't know are actually now you know has a meaning and because you're using those words
in a meaningful way they're more likely to become a part of your vocabulary and also storytelling can make you have a better memory because you're always recalling and retelling these stories you know and it's so powerful for you because then you're going to recall words better you're going to like you know not forget the words you know very often your brain gets better in memorizing details you know sequences and it's just so powerful it's so powerful even emotions because they're ATT tied to those stories and you're going to retain information way better as well and
I want to make this very clear I'm not saying that striving to have a better pronunciation is bad of course you should you know start to have a better pronunciation that's okay but the main message the main point of this video is that just striving to have the perfect pronunciation is just not enough you know and storytelling know how to connect with people know how to talk you know is way more important than have the best pronunciation ever so what you say is way more important than have the best the perfect pronunciation because at the
end of the day pronunciation it just sounds and they're not going to make you connect with people the only way that you can connect with people the only way that you can have an impact is by telling stories by it's by how you talk to people that's the only way I have a free community for English Learners if you want to join Link in the description below and I see you very soon
