The Horrific Crimes of Joseph McCann [True Crime Documentary]

Joseph McCann was a career criminal who'd been in Menace since he was a child who spent most of his adult life Behind Bars due to Mistake by authorities McCann was mistakenly released from prison in February 2019 and over a 15-day period between April and May 2019 engaged in a rampage of violence rape and sexual assault against 11 women and children across the UK which shocked the country welcome to evil Among Us thank you Joseph McCann was born on the 8th of February 1985 in London to a Scottish building a mother who apparently had links to

the Irish traveler Community by 1995 the McCann family had moved to the Beswick estate an impoverished area of Manchester in the northwest of England from 1996 McCann and his older brother Sean and his younger brother Michael engaged in the campaign of Terror against the people in the local community including repeatedly stealing cars and then sitting them on fire they also start with impunity including simply walking into shops and walking out with handfuls of items threatening anyone who stood in their way they were also reported to specifically targeted children in order to Rob them as well

as mugging old ladies these boys considered themselves untouchable when he was 13 years old McCann had his first brush with the law I was convicted of theft this was the first of many with him also being charged and sentenced for criminal damage having stolen goods in possession of knives the same year 1998 neighbors have filmed enough evidence to get the family evicted and they moved to another part of Manchester however the brothers continue to return to the area and victimize the community in 1999 when McCann was 14 The Brothers got their first taste of celebrity

when there were many subjects one of the UK's first anti-social Behavior orders known as nasbo announced both a sanction imposed by the court which has conditions as the name suggests intended to combat anti-social Behavior it conclude directions to stop acting in a certain way or Banning a person from a certain place in the case of the brothers they were banned from the Berwick area as well as prohibited from threatening people in the whole of the city of Manchester or using violence against them or encouraging anyone else to do the same and as both basically a

substitute for what people should have been taught as a child that you don't threaten or harm people or damage is still their property but unfortunately some people have to be told by the courts how to behave because they've just been allowed to run rampant by their parents as you can see from these pictures when the three left court the asbo definitely had a sobering effect on them and they definitely took it seriously after the asbo was imposed the family moved down south to Aylesbury and Harrow much the relief of the people of Manchester after they

left crime in the bezel carrier drop by Third and taken to the local shot while up approximately fourteen thousand pounds unfortunately a change location did nothing to stop the anti-social behavior of these Thugs and they terrorized their neighbors in the new area between 1998 when he was 13 and 2003 when he was 18. McCann had been convicted 13 times for burglary theft criminal damage threatening behavior escape and lawful custody aggravated vehicle taking driving whilst disqualified and handling stolen goods in July 2004 the courts have finally had enough of pecan he was jailed for 62 months

for threats of violence robbery in dangerous driving this meant that he would serve half in prison the rest supervised unlicensed by probation when someone is released on license or conditions attached which if breached means they can be sent back to prison an obvious one is not to commit any more crimes however it's clear that McCann was someone who had no willingness to follow any rules and after being released initially in September 2007 he only lasted two months before committing another burglary in November 2007 and then going on the Run the next month he commits an

aggravated burglary which in the UK is a burglary where violence is involved in this case McCann broke into the home of an 85 year old man and during the course of the burglary threatened to stab the pension in the eye if he refused to hand over money McCann managed to evade authorities for another few weeks until he was eventually arrested in January 2008 and in September 2008 he was sent as to what was known as an indeterminate sentence for public protection or IPP these sentences which no longer exist basically acted just like a life sentence

with the offender having a minimum tariff usually much much lower than Those who commit murder and they have to be granted released by the parole board and they're then supervised the rest of their lives and could be returned to prison at any point they're imposed to cover those people who although they're not committed murder were considered dangerous repeat offenders for other serious crimes if a person is returned to prison on their IPP sentence they can only be a release of the parole board approve it in the case of McCann He was ordered to serve a

minimum of two years and six months but due to his violent behavior in prison and remorselessness he was turned down for parole four times before eventually being released in March 2017 after serving almost nine years this didn't last long though as he committed another burglary in July 2017 just four months later he went back before the courts again in January 2018 and was given a further census of three years there are a lot of dates already mentioned but just to give you some perspective on McCann's criminality over the 13 years between 2004 and 2017 McCann

was only in the community for about eight months most of that was time on the run after committing further offenses this is a man who had no stake in society and each time he was in the real world would almost immediately find people to victimize it was a mistake by the authorities that ultimately led to McCann being released to go on his Rampage and I'll try to explain this mistake as simply as I can basically when McCann got a three-year sense in 2018 probation should have Then followed a process to make sure the prison was

aware that because he had an IPP sentence he should only be released from the parole board said so and not at the middle of his three-year period like other offenders however probation didn't complete the process and filed the relevant paperwork and so after 18 months McCann was released from prison I can only imagine what was going through McCann's head he must have thought all of his Christmases had come at once he must have known that because of his offending history and the fact it took almost nine years for the parole board of grass released last

time he was looking at spending potentially another decade of his life Behind Bars however because of a mistake he was walking free 18 months later on the 15th of February 2019 this mistake was spotted but only after my camera's release and there was nothing that could be done he just had to be managed but true to form he went straight back to offending within months specifically 65 days but what McCann did next was on the cover of every paper in the UK and sick in the nation on the 21st of April 2019 McCann abducted a

21 year old woman as she was on her way home after a night house in Watford a town just outside London she was talking on her phone when McCann approached and put his arm around her and placed a blade of a knife against her neck he then marched into his car and using threats of violence gained her address he then drove her to her home and raped her in her own bed before fleeing the scene four days later just after midnight on the 25th of April 2019 McCann grabbed a 25 year old woman off the

streets of walthamstow East London and drove her around stopping at various sites where he raped her repeatedly over approximately 14 hours all the time threatening to kill her this footage shows the seconds before this woman was abducted with her image being blacked out and McCann's vehicle driving past it's clear that McCann did not care who saw his offending and this CCTV footage is stunning as it shows McCann pulling up to the drive-through of a McDonald's with a woman he had just abducted and raped sat next to him you can just about see her hands on

her lap in the passenger seat that afternoon McCann traveled to edgware in North London and while still with the previous victim in his car tried to abduct two sisters in broad daylight one was able to escape but unfortunately one a 21 year old woman was bundled into the car and driven away whilst her sister had to stand there and watch mccandin drove to a hotel as seen in the CCTV footage with both women sat in the car outside you can see in the background no doubt he wanted to get a room in order to rape

both victims however began had been drinking vodka and had left an empty bottle in the car when he came back and ordered the women to leave one of them smashed him over the head and they both ran off we can chase them but they managed to get the attention of some builders in the area who went to confront McCann who sped off by this point there was a nationwide manhunt from the can but they did not realize that he had relocated to Manchester 200 miles from the site of his first attacks in the early hours

of May the 5th 2019 McCann went to a bar in Manchester and approached a woman in her 30s who's enjoying a night out McCann acting as the gentleman of a talk woman home due to her being drunk and it being dark when they got to the woman's home McCann pulled a 9000 Forester inside before tying her up he then raped her 17 year old daughter and her 11 year old son or whilst their mother was forced to hear her children's cries the daughter managed to escape by climbing out of a bedroom window and seeing this

McCann fled and the woman's son was able to untie her at 1 pm on the same day McCann casually walked into a supermarket clearly looking for another woman to abduct he saw an opportunity when he left and went to the car park where he jumped into the passenger seat of a 71 year old woman's car who he told to drive when she refused to his saucer and threatened her he then forced her to drive to an isolated location where he raped her he then forced us to drive around and he then dragged a 13 year

old girl and two 13 year old boys into the car the boys were soon released but whilst driving McCann sexually assaulted the 13 year old girl in the car the pensioner eventually pulled into a service station and both she and the 13 year old girl were able to escape just half an hour later McCann driving the pension's vehicle forced two 14 year old girls into the car by threatening to happen to death with machete if they did not comply McCann then drove away and stops his petrol station with these two terrified children in the car

in order to buy condoms however by this point the police have been called by members of the public who recognize McCann and they soon came across his vehicle a high-speed Pursuits occurred with these last two victims sitting in the back McCann crashed the car and then fled on foot the police swarmed the area to ensure the McCann had no way of escaping in the early hours of the next morning McCann was found hiding in a tree this video shows the moments of his arrest despite overwhelming evidence of his guilt mccamply not guilt at all charges

forcing the master to go to trial at the Old Bailey in London which began on November the 12th 2019 the camera refused to turn any of the hearings apart from one day where he came specifically to complain about his living conditions in prison clearly his only intention was to be as disruptive as possible waste taxpayers money and force his victims to have to testify about the vicious sexual acts he had committed to no one's surprise McCann was convicted of all 37 charges including eight counts of rape against women and children as well as kidnapping and

false imprisonment true to form of being an absolute coward McCann did not attend his sentencing hearing on the 9th of December 2019 before Mr Justice Edis however despite there being an empty chair Justice Edis addressed McCann as though he was there referring to him was quote a violent bully and a quote pedophile he then summed up McCann perfectly by stating quote you have never expressed a word of regret concern for your victims or even interest in them you are entirely obsessed with yourself and believe that you're entitled to use other people any way you want

in your world other people exist only for your pleasure and you have no ability to see the world through anyone's eyes but your own you are a classic psychopath I do not think you'll ever cease to be a danger until old age deprives you of the strength to commit serious sexual offenses I have no medical evidence to confirm any of this because she would never cooperate with any medical examination I do not need any Justice Edis then sentenced him Joseph McCann was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum tire for 30 years before he can

apply for parole however this was then increased to a minimum of 40 years by the course of appeal in December 2020 summer camp will be in his mid 70s before he's eligible to even apply for parole but given his offending I'd be surprised if he's ever considered safe to be released a serious case review was commissioned and the reports slammed the mistakes made by probation essentially it concluded that due to the negligence of Staff McCann have been released when during the entire time he committed these offenses he should have been firmly under lock and key

at least one member of Staff involved in this case was sacked and another was demoted why McCann engaged this campaign of rape across the country within weeks of being released is unclear I just did not engage in any part of the police or Court proceedings after his arrest so there's only speculation however whilst not having previously been convicted of social offenses there was Intelligence and concerns for a number of years that McCann posed to Serious risk towards women and children in 2003 intelligence was received by police that McCann and members of his family were involved

in sexually abusing exploiting young teenage girls 10 years later in 2013 intelligence was received indicating that McCann's family were looking for quote a young girl for him to have sex with when he was eventually released it was also speculating the papers that McCann's actions may have been a you to society due to his brother Sean killing himself in prison in 2016 and his older brother Michael being sentenced to seven years in prison for stealing handbags from vulnerable women and pensioners just five days before the Rampage started however in my opinion it's unsurprising that McCann was

a sexual predator with him clearly not giving a about the rules of society or the welfare of others and this clearly extended him being indifferent to the age of the people we wish to have sex with or their level of consent potentially the death of one brother and the incarceration of another led him to want to punish society and in his Twisted mind he believed he could accomplish this by raping women and children or perhaps like each time and every time he was released he just saw it as an opportunity to do whatever he wanted

and this time it involved raping as many people as possible that just described McCann as likely being a psychopath and I couldn't agree more McCann has no empathy or remorse he cares only about himself and I think takes pleasure in victimizing others going back to my previous calculations between 2004 and 2019 when he was arrested for these offenses McCann was only in the community for just over 12 months in that time he assaulted kidnapped robbed and raped numerous people destroying their lives hopefully those 12 months are the last he ever sees of freedom for the
