in 2025 Japan will start developing the first Zeta class supercomputer a thousand times more powerful than the fastest supercomputer today but what even is a supercomputer supercomputers are computers that are super you can imagine perhaps the most powerful desktop computer or most powerful laptop computer that you've ever seen probably you need to multiply that by sort of 10 or 100 there is no field in common parament that isn't touched by uh supercomputing some examples of that are simulating black holes discovering new materials or predicting the Earth's future and sometimes the sheer number of equations how
sort of hard they are to solve and a variety of other things makes it so that I have to bring to bear the full power of a very very large supercomputer so on a normal computer it may take 10,000 years but computers can make a big difference when there's a huge number of variables involved for example predicting weather systems or deep space [Music] missions some of the great results came during the co days one of the most effective simulation we done was to very detail simulation of airol transmission and this virtual world these droplets and
airol was spread out faku simulations clearly showed that masks were very effective but also show that had to be of certain types I think supercomputers are absolutely essential to helping humans understand the universe around us computation gives us a window that can be as quantitative as experiment and as sort of expansive as Theory all at once it's a very powerful way for humans to augment their ability to understand and is almost unique well firstly there are lots of of problems which we we haven't solved as the society grows the problems grow even bigger our aspirations
are exponentially growing and that's important for the younger generation advances and Technology Society actually allows them to give them more opportunity to do better stuff what we did I think people might realize that you you are benefiting or even using supercomputers without even kn
