what's going on guys this is Rob and you all really seem to enjoy the video that we made where we talked about the return of the Age of Apocalypse wolver rain and the weapons of X storyline that Marvel did so what we're going to do is we're going to cover wolver rain's time in the original Age of Apocalypse event and we're going to cover how he got his hand blown off by Cyclops and then he cut out cyclops's eye and all that kind of crazy stuff that goes on and what this does is this initially
picks up with basically Magneto's X-Men and the reason why and to provide a little bit of Contex here the age of apocalypse story line kicked off because of a story called Legion Quest where the son of Professor Xavier went into the past to kill Magneto believing that if he did it would make Xavier's life easier as well as the rest of the X-Men the result was that Xavier jumped in the way of the killing blow and he died and when that happened the villain apocalypse took that time to basically seize control of North America and
so everything went sideways after that one of the things you guys are also going to notice here Magneto's X-Men are nowhere near as capable as the X-Men that you would traditionally see in Marvel but the coming together of this team is really just done by way of creating some kind of Rebel Force to face off against apocalypse and unlike what you normally see in Marvel Comics there is no unified Force among like the ex Universe everybody's just kind of split and doing their own thing in different ways but when wolver rain shows up here it
initially happens as part of what's basically a training regimen one of the things you guys will notice here is that he has both of his hands but the other part is that when he's brought in there's been no real treatment done regarding his Berserker rages which is to say when he flies into a Mindless State and starts attacking everything now Magneto did this intentionally the reason being because when he's brought in in this training session he just starts killing everything in sight in the middle of a Berserker rage Jean Gray is able to basically use
her powers to bring him down and so the way the two of them function is not that dissimilar from that sequence in Marvel's Age of Ultron albeit a little cringy truth to tell when like black widow was the one that would bring the Incredible Hulk down from his rages and turn him back into Bruce banon and so what ends up happening over the course of this is that there's a kind of romantic bond that forms between the two It ultimately goes sideways which we'll cover here as well but the fact is you essentially get Gideon
and condra War Death saber-tooth they're brought together as the henchmen of Apocalypse who end up attacking Cape Citadel in order to seize control of its nuclear Arsenal now for those of you guys who don't know who they are if you remember in X-Men the Animated Series when you had like the thieves and the assassins from like the Gambit story line and you had like the tithe that was being paid to that one woman that's condra she's an external she is a mutant that is legitimately Immortal she's not indestructible so she can be killed but legitimate
immortality means she'll never die of old age and she'll never die of illness Gideon is the exact same way of course The Horseman are the horsemen and saber-tooth is saber-tooth and so when they launch their attack on Cave Citadel it leads to the X-Men responding but they do not respond because they're Heroes they respond because if apocalypse gets his hands on America's nuclear Arsenal it would lead to pandamonium he would be able to attack everything because one of the things to know is that during the Age of Apocalypse Apocalypse himself only controlled North America he
had not gotten to a place where he had dominated the rest of the world and we'll talk about what that means when we get to like the human High Council but what's interesting here is that when the X-Men arrive on the scene because of the fact that Sabertooth was just kind of a means to an end he was never really that significant in the eyes of apocalypse or even apocalypse's Horsemen so in effect they intend to kill him but because the X-Men arrived they realize that saber-tooth could be an asset here given how incredibly capable
he is his healing Factor his kind of berserker rages different things like that so they send him in to fight against wolver rain and the fight's exactly what you would expect right it's a pretty no holds bar knockdown drag out fight it's not overly complex They Don't Really devote a lot of time to the conflict itself instead the meat and potatoes here really deal more with one Wolverine overpower ing uh Sabertooth and seemingly killing him right off the bat although he doesn't actually die in fact he goes on to join the X-Men later on and
then of course they're able to basically stop apocalypse and his Horsemen and prevent apocalypse from being able to seize control of the nuclear arsenal of the United States but the reason why we covered all of this is because this is how Gan gray and Wolverine meet the reason why that matters so much is because what we do before we get to the Cyclops portion is you jump over to the human High Council now because Cyclops sees control of North America effectively those humans who ruled the United States in its governmental form or at least those
who were the most capable ultimately fled and so the human High Council is really just kind of a unified Europe against North America so you do have countries like France and so on and so forth but they're all just kind of a singular organization operating together to try to find a way to defeat apocalypse the other part of this is that you do have Captain Britain Brian bradock I also want to specify Tony Stark is technically part of the human High Council but he doesn't actually appear in the main Age of Apocalypse story he actually
appeared in a side story that came later on down the line but the bigger Point here is that Wolverine and Jean are sent on a mission to basically contact the human High Council and find a way to form an alliance with the ex-men specifically with Magneto's forces now again at this point you notice that Wolverine's hand is missing again we'll kind of circle back around to that here in a second but the way in which the human High Council protects themselves is they have thousands upon thousands of Highly Advanced Sentinels that are created by Captain
Britain right Brian bradic Industries and so what goes on here is that once they arrive in the domain of the human High Council there's a lot of talk about what the council is going to do here and of course as you'll notice with members of the human High Council you have like Emma Frost you've got Mora MC tager you have bolivard tras who traditionally creates the Sentinels but again as a human fled the United States and North America even humans who were traditionally enemies of the mutant population fled in the face of how powerful apocalypse
is and everything that he was able to pull off the guy is almost nigh Unstoppable although there is a caveat a ridiculously overpowered character that pretty much was designed to bring an end to all of this stuff but with the human High Council having this conversation Brian bradock is a lot more militaristic here than he traditionally is I wouldn't go so far as to say that he's like Britain's Captain America at least not in terms of the role but in terms of like mannerisms and the things that he believes in he's very similar to Steve
Rogers and so because of that when you see him in this mindset where he's saying like it's time for the human High Council to end the threat of Apocalypse once in for all which technically comes from Mor mcag you know by any means necessary the response of Brian is that's exactly it right now we're talking it's what we need to do now one of the things that goes on here is that in the midst of this conversation the entire council is attacked by magma who again traditionally a member of the X-Men is now a horsemen
of apocalypse of course Magma's dealt with quick fast and in a hurry but the bigger conversation with regarding the human High Council comes into play when they talk about essentially initiating what's called project scorched Earth and what they intend to do is effectively fire nukes at New York City where apocalypse is based out of they're going to Nuke it all right and really even not just New York City but the entirety of North America they're going to obliterate everything and so as the first stage of pulling this off because the human High Council cares so
much about the lives of just average people out there even those humans who live in North America are largely living in fear and are constantly being hunted by apocalypses infinit basically his forces designed to just eradicate anybody who doesn't have any powers at all that there's a kind of evacuation move that's done where they essentially send forces in try to extract as many humans as they can get them out and just constantly do it over and over and over again it is one of the cool things here because the human High Council is only one
Rebel force that stands against apocalypse you have a lot of guys like this out there Juggernaut for example is a monk he's more of a pacifist than anything else he looks really really dope right like he's has like this whole monk outfit and the Crimson gym is actually a necklace that he wears around his neck it's really really awesome you've also got caliber X I mean it's really awesome right Nightcrawler his guys Nightcrawler actually teleports the head off of Wade Wilson Deadpool and kills him it's pretty awesome right some of the things that you see
in Age of Apocalypse but what goes on here is that the forces of Apocalypse make their move by basically invading the human High Council while masquerading as human and this is really done by way of copycat now copycat is a character that a lot of people don't know about in the Marvel Cinematic Universe right Technically she's part of that now right Vanessa Carlile the girlfriend of Deadpool but copycat was like Mystique right she could shape shift things like that the difference between copycat and Mystique copycat didn't just take on their form she actually copied their
powers now we don't know the full limits of what that was for example we don't know if copycat could duplicate The Incredible Hulk and then achieve endless levels of strength based on her race right usually it was just kind of like copying Wolverine or copying Gambit or something along those lines pretty small Time stuff although I would love to see what they do but of course Jean Gray and Wolverine working together what ends up happening is Jean Gray literally sets him loose right because of the influence she has over him she just kind of allows
that Berserker rage to unleash and he absolutely loses it and starts massacring everybody on the spot but that's when you start to come across the rift between the two and that's what starts to lead us into the segment about py Ops because once the whole conversation is really heard here and you have the two of them talking about how they're going to cope with the idea of New York City being nuked Jean Gray is not for it right she believes there has to be some kind of alternative here than nuking the entirety of New York
City because her response right her idea is that not all mutants that work for Apocalypse share the views of Apocalypse a lot of them just adopted the mentality that it's better to be the devil's right hand than in his path but if given the choice to like escape from apocalypse's Rule and to just find a way to work against apocalypse they would the response of Wolverine is no they made their choice right just because they feel bad about being a bad guy doesn't change the fact that they are bad guys intentions are totally Irrelevant in
the face of the things that they've done and so the result of this is that Jean and basically wolver rain split they separate and that's where things get interesting because what happens here is Jean Gray's story goes off on its own and then Wolverine story goes off on its own and that's when you get this cool segment about Wolverine and cyclops because as crazy as this is going to sound you actually follow Jean through this bit of a segment here and what you end up doing is picking up with Cyclops and his brother havoc and
what's called the breeding pens now in the age of apocalypse story while you did have apocalypse ruling over everything you also had some pretty shady stuff going on here Hank McCoy Beast most of you guys know him as like a really jovial kind character and Age of Apocalypse he was dark beast and he was very very sadistic this guy got off on just like mutilating people experimenting on people doing all kinds of heinous things for guys like Sinister he was actually the one that was working on what was called the trump card basically X-Man Nate
gray a genetically engineered mutant with the genes of Cyclops and Jean Gray herself that if they ever procreated would have a crazy powerful kid and he was genetically engineered to defeat apocalypse that was his sole purpose in fact there comes a point at the end of the story where he escapes the Age of Apocalypse timeline and ends up in the main Marvel Universe and things go haywire when he shows up it's nuts right this guy like dominates Jean Gray Professor Xavier can't sense him I mean it's nuts right he actually fights cable on a couple
of occasions and it's pretty dope when they face off against each other but for Cyclops himself he's nothing like the Cyclops that you're familiar with from Marvel Comics right honestly the closest that you get to this version of Cyclops might be host Avengers versus his X-Men when he kind of becomes a bad guy but he's less of a bad guy here and more of just a dude trying to get by although he has done some shady things one of the things that's interesting here is that his brother Havoc is a Believer right he believes in
the ideologies and the thoughts of Apocalypse right he follows it down to a tea and that's why he says things like Sinister is not around to protect you anymore and some trespasses will never be forgiven it's why Cyclops has these kind of thought bubbles where he looks at havoc and he says I look into my brother's eyes and all I see is hatred and resentment and when I stare into the faces of the prisoners I see only fear why am I surprised I'm the monster to them the embodiment of their pain and misery because he's
the one that keeps all these guys in check for basically dark Beast as well as Mr Sinister whenever he's doing his thing but this leads to Jean Gray arriving here following her whole ordeal and departing from Wolverine because what she realized is that they need the aid of Mr Sinister given his ability to modify genetics the ability to act acate Powers shut down Powers enhance powers in The Age of Apocalypse timeline but more so than that the fact that he could basically find a way to defeat apocalypse is an alternative and kind of a race
against the clock if she can get to Sinister soon enough and she can find a way really between the two of them to defeat apocalypse then there'll be no need to Nuke the entire city of New York and North America on a larger scale and so while you don't really have the traditional romantic relationship between Cyclops and Jee there is a connection there in the the sense that Cyclops now and the reason why he's called a traitor by his brother is because he's actually helped mutants Escape before he's helped them get out because when Jean
Gray was there while she felt nothing but just hatred for him the fact that she was so rebellious and the fact that she despised the actions of apocalypse actually inspired him to basically become some measure of a hero so again not a whole lot of romance there but it does kind of build a little bit towards the end of the story not enough that it matters but a smidgen here or there ultimately Havoc catches up to her and when he does he incapacitates her and that's one of the reasons why I say the X-Men here
are not as capable as you're traditionally used to seeing them when it comes to Marvel Comics because Jean Gray would have easily overcome this but of course she's basically taken out now when she's captured of course she's brought to dark beast and dark Beast puts a kind of band around her head in order to basically scan her thoughts and figure out what her mission is why she's here all that kind of cool stuff but then you get like this really cool moment in this kind of conversation where you learn how it is that things went
sideways between cyclop and Wolverine because what we're told is we're told that 3 years ago right in a pitched battle with Magneto's X-Men that Cyclops prevented Jean's escape with the rest of the Rebel mutants destroying the second and third level processing Bays before bringing her down for 4 months Jean Gray was treated as an alpha Elite given the best the Empire had to offer and still she resisted Sinister was exstatic at the telekinetics capture going on at length about finding the second blueprint for what he called his trump card again referencing Nate gray there and
he says there was something about her spirit and dedication to her past life that caused Scott to find himself inescapably drawn to Jean in time it became something more not romantic but Scott found himself contemplating the unthinkable returning Jean Gray the woman who'd come to mean so much to him to her friends it all would have gone as planned if her feral teammate wolverin had not broken rank with Magneto to return turn to the pens in order to free the woman he loved and when the two finally came face to face things went terribly terribly
wrong and it cost him an eye because Wolverine cut his eye out and cyclops blew Wolverine's hand apart and that's it now the downside here is you don't actually get to see the fight between the two you just kind of get this bit of an explanation here it's one of the big disappointments that Marvel never really gave us was that knockdown drag out fight but the point is because Cyclops had consist conly worked to almost kind of undermine Sinister and dark beast and even apocalypse himself he's really just kind of considered a traitor and the
result is that he's captured and strung up alongside Jean Gray now one of the other things that a lot of you guys are probably going to be asking here is why doesn't Wolverine's hand grow back we don't have an answer to that question Marvel never gave it to us all they told us was that he just put this stump over his hand and that was it presumably if he had taken it off it would have just regrown but in reality I think they did it because it just made him look extreme and it made it
look unique so again no real answers coming from that now of course Jean Works alongside Cyclops and was probably the most handwavy plot armor element of this story where she uses her telekinesis to kind of move the mental band off of her head to the point where she's actually able to remove the optic blast of Cyclops and then just unleashes it on dark beasts which incapacitates dark beasts and so it allows the two of them to escape and then to essentially take off and so following that you kind of circle back around to Wolverine again
where he's off doing his own thing and basically trying to figure out how to stop Gan gray get her out of New York City in order to ensure that she'll survive the nuclear attack that'll happen on the city of New York this leads to him meeting a mutant by the name of Gateway now of course this comes by way of Carol Danvers she's actually the one who leads him there but Gateway is a mutant with the ability to teleport and he can teleport vast to armaments on a planetary scale so he can teleport you pretty
much anywhere you need to be and teleport pretty much anything anywhere it needs to be and so once he's able to convince this guy to join their cause that ultimately you pick up with the human High Council marshalling their forces everybody kind of pulling it all together and then in turn sending their ships through a massive portal created by Gateway in order to launch this nuclear strike against apocalypse and all of his forces in New York and that's really where all these different roads from Age of Apocalypse converge the story of Magneto and his X-Men
the story of Colossus and all their forces the story of Nightcrawler the whole nine yards which is where we're going to end this video if you guys want me to do more let me know right let me know how you guys want me to make this whole thing work oh we can just kind of do it by segment we can do it by team because you can cover each individual Story by itself right it's pretty simple the only part that sucks is the part with quietest that's just kind of a strange thing that Marvel did
I don't really know why but let me know what you guys think down in the comments thank you all for watching if you enjoyed this video make sure you drop a like and I will catch you all later peace
