he will never operate out in the open but instead he will hide behind seemingly innocent things like science artificial intelligence and so forth he'll start introducing new notions of quote unquote God and the enemy will begin to corrupt people's way of thinking so as Christians we should remember two things when trying to understand world events firstly the Bible says we should be in the world but not of the world when you are in the world you will be impacted by world affairs to a certain level secondly the Bible calls us to be the salt of
the earth and it says "You are the light of the world let your light shine before others it's hard to be the salt of the earth if you're not involved in the world there are current events and conditions that threaten to worry me in this country but whenever doubt begins I can find comfort and strength in reminding myself that I serve the Lord who is in control i belong to a kingdom that is not defined by politicians and elections but by a redeeming savior and loving God i belong to the only kingdom that can promise
forgiveness and eternal life it is entirely understandable why we feel fear and anxiety over the political machines in this world as mortal beings we are understandably shortsighted we are so focused on the here and now that we forget to consider the bigger picture we are so consumed by worries about our political instability that we miss out on the comfort granted by God's unwavering sovereignty remember before God chose the descendants of Abraham for his special purposes God was in control the Lord was sovereign when Jacob and his family had to find relief in Egypt god was
still in control when that family had turned into a nation but an enslaved one god was in control when he delivered Israel and guided her to conquer and inhabit the land of Canaan god was in control at the height of Israel's power under kings David and Solomon and even though it may have appeared otherwise God was in control when Israel and Judah were crushed and exiled by Assyria and later Babylon god was still working when Babylon fell to the Meo Persian Empire god was in control when Greece became the superpower god was on his throne
for the rise of Rome and its fall god has been in control and has worked in seemingly mysterious ways but his will has always been accomplished and always will be accomplished and since the days of Rome the Lord's church has endured all manners of regimes and earthly kingdoms many such kingdoms are ancient history but the church still stands god was in control when America became a nation he is in control today and if God allows the world to continue long enough there will come a day when America falls and God will be in control then
too whether in America or elsewhere you belong to a kingdom defined by imperfection and weakness you belong to a nation that can be or maybe is led by the corrupt and the cruel you belong to a country that one day will not exist but if you are a Christian then you belong to another country as well one that is perfect and you are a citizen in a kingdom ruled by the perfect and holy sovereign over all things with this in mind perhaps we should remember and find comfort in these powerful words once pinned by the
Apostle Paul i charge you in the presence of God who gives life to all things and of Christ Jesus who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ which he will display at the proper time he who is blessed and only sovereign the King of Kings and Lord of Lords who alone has immortality who dwells in unapproachable light whom no one has ever seen or can see to him be honor and eternal dominion amen pray for your
country and your rulers but above all praise honor and serve God don't fret over human nations temporary troubles place your faith in the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and find real security meaning and life in his kingdom how do you focus on God instead of the obstacles of life it's a valid question right we all have obstacles in this life we will all come face to face with things that will threaten our faith in the Lord we'll come up against opposition that may paralyze even the most courageous hearts with fear but you
see over and over again in the Bible we're told not to worry we're told not to fear not to be dismayed not to be discouraged but instead to look to the Lord as your deliverer look to the Lord as your rescuer look to the Lord as your help and source of strength now this all sounds good but how do you practically do this well in 2 Chronicles 16 there is an interesting story that we can all learn from there is a king named Asa who initially started well in his walk with God initially Asa was
a king who worked to remove idolatry among his people and lead the land to worship and honor the one true God Jehovah but King Asa's story takes a turn when he decides to put his trust in man instead of God when faced with an obstacle this king deviated from his faith and sought to seek help from people instead of the Lord here is what the Bible says in 2 Chronicles 16:7-9 at that time Hani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him "Because you relied on the king of Aam Syria and
did not rely on the Lord your God the army of the king of Aam Syria has escaped out of your hand." Were not the Ethiopians and Lubam a huge army with a great number of chariots and horsemen yet because you relied on the Lord he placed them in your hand for the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth so that he may support those whose heart is completely his you have acted foolishly in this therefore from now on you will have wars now from this story of King Asa we don't want
to focus too much on this king and what he did but rather I want to highlight what the prophet of God Hani said to King Asa he said "The eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth so that he may support those whose heart is completely his." This is what we should remember as children of God the eyes of the Lord are seeking those who are fully committed in him those who are fully trusting in him and so dear friend when you face obstacles in life don't put your trust in people trust
in God don't rely on people or things trust in God Almighty because he is seeking for the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth just looking for the person who is fully committed and confident in him
