I got paid $5,400 for my first ever web design project and the best thing is the client found me through content which means I didn't have to do any Outreach and in this video I'm going to show you a step-by-step guide on how you can get high to go web design clients to come to you without spending multiple hours doing Outreach and so if any of you have wanted to create content to get clients to come to you then this presentation by me Patrick Spiel is for you content to clients very straightforward so what are
we going to be talking about what are you going to be learning first a quick overview does this actually work should you be doing it why should you be be creating content second the different platforms right should you be using LinkedIn Instagram YouTube Tik Tok then the profile this is super important how do we optimize our profiles I'll show you some examples then content what content should we create to get clients to come to us to be interested how do we how do we build trust with complete strangers on the internet and finally the most
important part how do we turn VIs visitors right viewers of our content into leads and then into paying clients so let's get straight into the overview and I want to start off by answering the question does this actually work yes I have had firsthand experience more than 50 probably around 60% of my clients have come through content and again the first ever project that I landed was through inbound so they found me not just on LinkedIn but afterwards through uh Instagram also through YouTube people that have seen my YouTube videos or my podcast s have
then reached out to me and asked if I can build some websites for them that's been a really great way of getting clients as well and by the way most of the very top level designers are getting their clients either through Partnerships or through content either on LinkedIn Instagram Etc or even on websites or platforms like beand or awards.com but I'll show you that later on the second benefit is is that these leads that come through content are so much more warm because they're actually looking for web designers actually looking to get the website done
which means the selling part is less convincing but more just you know selling yourself right as in building trust with you as a person as a designer because they're already seeing your work right hopefully even some testimonials online which means you've already built that trust and you've also built Authority and you've established that you're an expert in this field and later on when we get into the content part I'll show you how or what content you can create in order to build that structure and also show that you're an expert in web design in SEO
and on top of that it's going to make your Outreach so much more effective imagine you are you know on Instagram and somebody is messaging you from a random account user x35 has one photo of you know their face and that's it and they're selling hey you know we create websites for this company you know we can help you generate x amount of business in you know the next 6 weeks let's hop on a call I immediately delete that message I get so many people reaching out to me and the first thing I do I
quickly look at the message but then I immediately go to their account and see if they're actually posting about their services if they have any success any system proof and so even if you do Outreach right on Instagram for example it's going to make it so much more effective if you have a couple posts with either social proof system proof just some designs building trust you're showing that you're an actual person or an actual agency and so your Outreach message are going to have a much higher response rate therefore Landing you more clients now the
next question we have is when will you see results it really depends sometimes you can get lucky and see results literally within the first week sometimes it might take a little while for me again I wasn't even looking for a client I I had set up my LinkedIn two weeks later I got the client reaching out to me and we hopped on a quick call they had a look at some of my designs my posts we they really like them and then I signed them as a client so I would honestly just suggest to start
creating content don't have a goal of Landing your first client in 2 weeks your goal shouldn't be the end outcome your goal should be the action steps that you take to get to that to to you know that end goal so don't write down I want to get my first client in two weeks with content no your goal should be I want to create 10 videos in the next 2 weeks for Instagram and LinkedIn because that's where you can actually influence and take direct action on so in other words if you create one content in
the next 3 weeks compared to somebody who's creating two pieces of content every single day that person is most likely going to land their first client through content a lot sooner than the one who's taking very little action next up it's so great at creating networking and partnership opportunities the most successful web designers out there aren't getting clients by doing Outreach sometimes not even through content but it's because they've built Partnerships with other agencies they're currently working with huge agencies or with other professionals me for example I partnered up with a copywriter who was looking
to expand their business and work with other professionals to create Partnerships to create join ventor ships and therefore we got connected on LinkedIn and I sent her a message saying hey I'm looking for a copywriter to partner up with for some of my web design projects are you open to such a partnership and she was very open for it and we had a brief discussion and since then we've been working on client projects so that's a great way to also get inbound clients not just through specifically content or Outreach but actually working with other professionals
that are getting projects and are looking for other services other professionals to work on larger projects together so that's also a very great tip that I would suggest you do reach out to other professionals copywriters ads experts marketing agencies SEO agencies the list goes on and this all ties into building a brand for the future the stronger your brand the more you will be able to charge and the easier it is to get clients to come to you but also to build Partnerships I would be very happy to work with another YouTuber who has a
big following who has you know a good social presence compared to somebody who is just starting out and who has one piece of content right and so that's how you should look at it why would somebody work with you you know do you have a good social presence do you have a lot of proof that you're a good designer that you can actually do the work do the services that you're promising and that's where content and your social Prof files are super vital and just before we get into the platforms and what platforms you should
be using for your own content strategy if you're still unsure if creating content still works today it does just look at my channel as an example I haven't been uploading too much and I've been getting a couple views into my free and into my paid score so I've had firsthand experience with a couple of different services and it's been working ever since again just go to Instagram and look at the top web designers and even message them I've been doing a lot lot of messaging over the last couple months with very high te and some
of the top web designers around the world and I've been asking them hey how do you m get your projects how do you m get your clients and 80% of them have been saying content the others have been through Partnerships with agencies which is where content also helps and comes into play now let's get into the platforms so which platform is best for you the only way to answer this question is you need to find your target audience you need to go where your target audience is going if you're publish or if you're targeting coaches
for example most of them aren't going to be on LinkedIn just as an example even though they might be they might be more active on Instagram and on YouTube in that case you would probably want to focus on creating content around uh on YouTube and Instagram as an example one of my students in the Pro school is creating content for coaches and he's doing this on Instagram and YouTube and he actually just had a win with his most recent post got 600 views in just a couple of days and they're pretty much just starting out
so again don't worry about being a beginner everybody starts from somewhere now you're probably asking yourself well how do I know where my target audience where my clients are active on well you just need to do some market research you can ask them directly go into a couple groups uh Google um you know send the messages directly on Instagram on LinkedIn you know hey um I'm currently new in this field and I'd love to to find out where where more of you are are hanging out or where can I than or where can I speak
with more of you know X industry to to learn as much as I can so just do a bit of market research and that is generally how you can find out very quickly how many platforms should you focus on I personally would recommend that you focus on two as your main platforms which means that you engage with your target audience and other creators you can still post to other platforms but choose to to focus 80% of your time and engage comment on other people's posts like other people's posts reply to their stories uh engage with
your target audience build Partnerships this is going to be super super important for building your long-term brand and these are the main platforms that I would recommend Instagram LinkedIn Pinterest Twitter Tik Tok YouTube Facebook behance and dribble now personally as an idea your combination could be Instagram and Linkedin as your main two platforms that's where you engage with other accounts with your target audience but you still post to Pinterest be hands and dribble because your services are very design orientated or oriented but you also can repurpose some of your content from Instagram let's just say
your reals and post that to Tik Tok and to YouTube that's just where you don't Focus too much of your time you still create your funnel right you still optimize your profile but you really want to be targeting two platforms to engage with and spend 80% of your time on now we come to profile this is where I need you to pay attention because optimizing your profile is one of the most important things when creating content on social media so how do we optimize your profile the first thing is of course to have a clear
name and professional picture but the first question that you're going to be asking yourself is should I create a personal a personal brand or a company so agency account and this really comes down to personal preference the combination the hybrid that I love is a personal and agency combination so I would suggest you have a personal profile picture because it's a lot easier to build trust with a person than just a random logo but your name is going to be your actual name and then founder of your company name if you have an agency account
if you just want to create websites and create content as your personal name that's what I started out with then you know just leave it as your freelancer you know real name because that's going to be the easiest to start off with now some of you are going to want to create two accounts at the same time I wouldn't really recommend that right it's going to be very difficult to manage both of them at the same time building an agency account and a personal brand you can right you can definitely use your personal brand to
share more of the day-to-day stuff a bit of you know show social proof actually creating the designs and then your agency account is just there for building a longer term brand so just uploading designs you know some testimonials some case studies you can definitely do that but I would really focus on one of them at a time the most important aspect of your profile is going to be your bio and your description and for this I would recommend you have a threo offer and I'm going to show you some examples right now as you can
see I have a couple of accounts that I would look at as inspiration I also created one from scratch so right here we can see your name right is just your name and then web designer on on Instagram as an example then we have I help roofing companies get more local clients that's your value proposition then we have get more booked calls or you don't pay that's your guarantee and then finally we have a value based call to action DM audit for a free website audit and then you have your link under that and this
in my opinion is the perfect formula it has your guarantee your value proposition and your value based call to action we can also look at a couple other examples Max for example he has I make websites that help companies grow love your new site all you don't pay and then let's chat then we have redon 14 years in marketing and U ux design build websites that convert your ideal client does your website act as your best salesperson question mark text here or test here and then here we have the real Brian Mark uh DME 10K

social proof you have and the more trustworthy you're going to be seen however that also leads me to the question should you buy followers no I really wouldn't recommend it we just actually had this discussion in one of the pro calls the best thing I believe you can do is start from scratch start with zero followers just as I did right I started my YouTube channel with zero subscribers I didn't ask anybody to subscribe I uploaded videos and I started a game momentum so don't buy followers start organically it's going to be the best for
your account account Health right different platforms can see if your if your followers are legit or not if they're engaged or if they're just you know uh Bots basically so do not buy followers and the first Instagram client that I landed I only had 60 followers so do not think that you need to have 2,000 followers to you know be seen as as trustable no you need to have a good bio as we just discussed good you know uh value based call to action the three-point offer five to six starting posts right some with your
face as well we'll get into content in just a minute but you don't need to have a lot of followers again I only had 60 when I landed my first client via Instagram and that wasn't like $100 per month that was a $6.3 th000 project so yeah don't worry about followers now two more important things is you can use story highlights on Instagram and featured posts on LinkedIn for example to promote specific things you could have a lead magnet as a featured post you could have your services in your story highlights or some testimonials so
definitely make sure to use platform specific features to your advantage or you can also get some extras you can get verified on Instagram that's going to build up that trust slightly right it's all about building trust make sure that that is your main focus and goal with your content and with your profiles or on LinkedIn it could be the sales Navigator which can again help you with extra features right so you can use more of LinkedIn and it will build up that trust slightly now what should your link be as I mentioned earlier we have
a value based call to action if that's linked to your link that could be your landing page where you have a vssl uh and below that they can schedule for a free consultation call or it could be a lead magnet form where they get a free website audit some also just have a booking link for a call some have a just a website planning page I would recommend somewhere where you can collect leads so a vssl would be a great way to do that again if you want help with your vssl join the pro group
