pride is one of Satan's most effective traps and many people without even realizing it are walking straight into it it is the very sin that led to Satan's own downfall and now he uses it to ens snare countless others but there is a form of Pride that is so subtle so deceptively wrapped in self-reliance that many fail to recognize it for what it truly is self-sufficiency the world praises self-sufficiency as a virtue Society glorifies the idea of being independent of making One's Own Way of being in control but self-sufficiency when it means living apart from
God becomes pride in Disguise it is the belief that one can sustain themselves make their own way and Thrive without the need for God it is the lie that Whispers you don't need God you are enough on your own Proverbs 16:18 warns us Pride goeth Before Destruction and a hoty spirit before a fall self-sufficiency blinds people to their need for God it convinces them that their success intelligence or influence is the result of their own hard work skill or wisdom but what they fail to see is that all of these things every breath every opportunity
Every Blessing come from God Alone Satan exploits this deception to pull people further from God he whispers into the ears of men and women you built this life by yourself you worked hard for this why give God the credit you are in control of your destiny and just like that many step into the snare of Pride unaware that they are sealing their own downfall the danger of self-sufficiency is that it Fosters an illusion of control people believe they have everything figured out until crisis strikes then when their world crumbles they realize just how powerless they
truly are how many people only turn to God when their own strength has failed how many only recognize their need for him when everything they built in pride comes crashing down Deuteronomy 8:17 to18 warns against this very mindset you may say to yourself my power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me but remember the Lord your God for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth everything we have our talents resources even our next breath comes from God the moment we forget this we fall into the enemy's
trap true strength is not in self-sufficiency but in dependence on God Jesus himself said in John 15:5 I am the vine you are the branches if you remain in me and I in you you will bear much fruit apart from me you can do nothing nothing not some things not a few things nothing when we live in dependence on God we walk in wisdom humility and security we recognize that he alone is our provider our sustainer and our source SCE of strength if you have been living in self-sufficiency thinking you can make it on your
own it is time to repent and surrender to God he is not against hard work diligence or wise planning but he is against Pride that makes us believe we don't need him the antidote to self-sufficiency is humility before God it is daily acknowledging Lord I need you I cannot do this without you every good thing in my life is because of you let us not fall into the same trap that led to Satan's downfall let us not deceive ourselves into thinking we can Thrive apart from the one who gives us life true security true success
and true fulfillment are found only in complete dependence on God if you want to understand just how dangerous pride is look at Satan himself he was once a high-ranking angel full of beauty and wisdom but Pride corrupted him his heart became lifted up and he thought he could challenge the very Throne of God Isaiah 14:12 to15 how art thou fallen from Heaven oh Lucifer son of the morning how art thou cut down to the ground which did weaken the Nations for thou Hast said in thine heart I will Ascend into heaven I will exalt my
throne above the stars of God yet Thou shalt be brought down to Hell to the sides of the pit Satan's Pride made him believe he could be equal to God he refused to submit to the almighty and now he lays the same trap before mankind the moment you think you don't need God the moment you believe your wisdom success or strength is enough you are walking straight into Satan's trap pride is the very thing that separates people from God it is what makes men and women reject salvation thinking they can live without God's grace it
is what causes people to place their confidence in wealth Fame intelligence or power rather than in the Living God and this is exactly where Satan wants people to be self-reliant proud and spiritually blind today Society celebrates Pride people boast of their achievements their wealth their intellect and their power we see movements that glorify pride and self-sufficiency encouraging people to reject God and live as their own Gods Romans 1:21 to 22 because that when they knew God they glorified him not as God neither were thankful but became vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was
darkened professing themselves to be wise they became fools the world tells us that pride is a virtue but the Bible tells us it is a vice one that leads to destruction it is the very thing that turns Hearts cold toward God it is the very thing that causes people to reject Christ's lordship over their lives Satan loves Pride because it keeps people from repentance if people refuse to Humble themselves they will never acknowledge their need for a savior they will never bow their knee before Christ and that is exactly how the enemy wants it even
in the church Pride takes root many Christians fall into the Trap of spiritual Pride believing they are holier than others judging others while failing to see their own sin Luke 18:10 to14 two men went up into the temple to pray the one a Pharisee and the other a Publican the Pharisees stood and prayed thus with himself God I thank thee that I am not as other men are and the Publican standing AAR off would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven but smokee upon his breast saying God be merciful to me a
sinner Jesus made it clear the humble man went home Justified but the proud man did not spiritual pride is one of the most dangerous traps Satan sets for believers it blinds us to our own need for grace and turns us into hypoc we must be careful not to think that because we go to church read the Bible or avoid certain sins we are somehow Superior to others the moment we look down on someone else we are walking straight into Satan's trap one of the greatest lies of the devil is that we can live life on
our own terms the world encourages self-sufficiency telling people to trust in their own strength their own knowledge their own plans but Jesus made it clear that apart from him we can do nothing John 15:5 I am the vine ye are the branches he that abideth in me and I in him the same bringeth forth much fruit for without me ye can do nothing the moment we believe we are self-sufficient we start walking away from God and the further we walk the more we rely on ourselves until one day we realize we are completely lost pride
is not a game it is not something to take lightly if you are walking in Pride you are walking straight into Satan's trap deal ruthlessly with pride in your life but there is hope God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble James 4:6-7 God resisteth the proud but giveth Grace unto the humble submit yourselves therefore to God res resist the devil and he will flee from you the way out of Satan's trap is humility it is recognizing our need for God it is surrendering completely to him the moment we humble ourselves we step
out of the snare of the enemy and into the grace of God we desperately need God more than we realize every heartbeat every breath every opportunity we have is a direct gift from him the problem is that Pride blinds people to this truth making them think they can handle life on their own but the reality is we are completely dependent on God in ways we often fail to acknowledge humility is not just an attitude it is a deep recognition of how much we need God in everything we do it is understanding that apart from him
we can do nothing it is knowing that our wisdom is in insufficient our strength is weak and our plans are meaningless without his guidance the greatest mistake Humanity makes is believing that we can navigate life without God when people trust in their own abilities resources or intellect they unknowingly reject the very source of life and wisdom humility is when a person realizes that they are nothing without God that every success every talent and every good thing in their life is a direct result of his mercy and Grace it is saying Lord I need you not
just in moments of Crisis but in every decision every action and every step I take true humility leads to surrender it is waking up each day acknowledging that we cannot face the challenges of life without God's strength it is turning to him for wisdom before making decisions it is understanding that our own righteousness is as filthy rags before a holy God it is knowing that even the ability to breathe is a gift from him humility is the foundation of true Faith because it brings us to a place where we fully depend on God recognizing that
he is our sustainer our provider and our only source of True Life
