I'm not going to put you through I understand you had another brand sitting in this chair Lord J that's not me president Trump is a championing for the wealthy KLA Harris is championing for middle class Democrats nor Republican have rolled out an agenda for the poor now I don't know what we look for the church fund do you blame people for not going to church no I understand it that skirt got to come past that knee That toe got to be close on that shoe the earring cannot be dangled right now you right now could
not walk in the average Apostolic Church yes sir I had a conversation with my mom just saying like you ever been to Magic City they got good food so if somebody who worked at Magic City if they give you a donation are you going to take that donation church people can be the most judgmental because they don't look like church that Mean that church is not in them people who sing the lyrics but don't know the Lord are just doing karaoke they have this saying now I'm more spiritual than I am religious what does that
mean nothing it means absolutely nothing you got to be mindful that Jesus preached to thousands but he only P 12 when you got $32 million in debt that Friendship Circle shrinks in but when you dealing with different stuff at a different oxygen level most Of the people you grew up with will have asthma what's the biggest misconception about you people saw me grow up and then they saw me go through a divorce saw me live through infidelity child out of wet L the way that God has wired my life is my failures are always the
same size of My Success the reality is where they like it or not Jesus is black but how how you how you figure Jesus black he got hair like Lamb's wool skin like bronze the lead robbers in America or White men the large amount of racist are white men the highest number of domestic abusers is white men but if you ask the average American who are the proponents of crime is a black face to it I says the system ain't broken it was built that way the terrible thing about becoming famous is you can't become
unfamous you only become infamous why is that our public leaders in Ministry Eddie Long TD Jakes The speculations and the tribulations of just the looming of Gossip I gotta pause you right [Music] [Applause] [Music] there hey hey hey hold on stop we're going to get back to the content at hand but while I have your attention I need you to go to iconic saga.com and become an icon today that's ad free content exclusive content exclusive giveaways become an icon today just a dollar a month back to the show hey You come here real quick come

a speaker say more a author come on community leader is that all you got a father yes senior pastor at New Birth Ministry Baptist Church I present the song and introduce to others Pastor Jamal Bryan thank you sir it's a pleasure how we doing I'm glad to be with you oh man I Can say the same it's going to be good I'm buckled up yeah just unbuckle one of them a little bit cuz we need to hang out the window real quick you know what I'm saying just to get people prepared because I think this
is extremely important this talk uh this thought this type of discussion this type of dialogue and as I was saying to you uh off camera is I come from church so therefore I've always wanted to have questions with people in Ministry to Just have more insight yeah you know what I'm saying I I always say I know right from wrong I just don't always do right yeah you know but prior to when we got a whole slate of questions that I have um I want to know first off where are you from I'm from Cambridge
Massachusetts but I grew up in Baltimore okay and uh came here for morehous and uh left for 20 years and I came back uh to be the pastor of New Birth okay yeah did you grow up in church yeah my dad is a retired Bishop my grandfather's a retired Bishop my great-grandfather was a Baptist preacher so I'm I'm from a long line of a long line of yeah of of of pastors prophets all of it God Whispers yeah and at what age did you know this is the direction that I want to do I've always
knew but I am everything you have heard about a Preacher's kid I am that yes Lord so I afforded Kicking and Screaming so at morous I was a uh political science major International Studies I went to Duke thinking I was going to law school and uh you know your teacher always tells you you're going to need math I didn't believe them until I sat in real estate math and uh I couldn't figure out nothing in that contract but my commission yes sir so I walked out and went to Seminary across the street Perfect yeah now
even with with that growing up who is the most I want to say most but who is the in influential figure in directing you to Christ not just who called you to turn your life over but also the person to direct you to let you know it's more to being a pastor or a leader in a church yeah than just collecting money yeah or as we call offering and just delivering a message yeah John Maxwell has a book called Talent is not enough M and uh my dad is a man of character okay uh I've
never heard him curse I've never seen him my mother argue they've been married for 55 years uh and so I tell people everything I've done right in life I learned from him everything I've done wrong I learned on my own uh but he is uh forget a preacher forget a being a bishop my dad is a Christian uh and for that reason I I really admire him look up to him yes sir Uh any siblings I have one sister uh she is a president of the American Psychological Association okay she's a professor at pepine University
okay uh she's young in Charlotte no no in La no La I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm thinking about uh another scho yes sir P yeah she's a younger than me but way smarter than me yes sir yeah she's brilliant now at that at that realm um my father's a preacher as well too um and it's crazy Cuz growing up in in in church there are certain jokes there are certain you know sarcastic slogans and talk and forms of satire that we may not have went to the same church but but we know yeah you know
certain Melodies absolutely certain you know just things and that's what I always respect and and hear people's stories but also understand just we ain't too far you know what I'm saying absolutely um now throughout your whole journey into who you Are uh today how have you or do you understand the difference or is there a saying let me just say it like this is there a any facts to new church and old church absolutely okay um tell me the name of the church you grew up in holy Zion Center of deliver okay you saw people
in town while you growing up hey I go to Holy Zion yes sir this generation doesn't identify the name of the church they identify the name of the pastor Wow and I think people are wedded to the individual more than they are the institution oh wow which is very dangerous um because it puts the pastor in a pedestal that quite frankly we don't belong on correct uh and so I think that we've got to go back to a focusing on what is the church church had a sense of community had a sense of family uh
a sense of relatability so the old church we called each other brother so and so sister so and so correct the New church we [Music] networking we giving out CS deal together uh but it doesn't have that same sense of family right I as you talk about the whole evolution of church church used to be a way to trade in regards to if you did this I'm talking back in the 40s 50s you know if you had a a farm of goat or you had a a form of crop or whatever you know what I'm
saying it was a interchange we also seen Church be a place where uh you can settle civil differences in regards to what the community is actually right going through yeah um also we looked at the church or the church's leader as the person who speak for the people almost like a mayor yeah you know what I'm saying yeah and now I don't know what we look for the church for cuz there's different versions it's different blends it's different all types of different stuff But the state of the church for you right now outside of you
know this example that you you given where is that and how do you identify it as it's a critical moment this is the largest demographic of black people it's the largest demographic of black people since we've been in America who don't go to church it's the largest swath of black people who say they believe in God but don't get with church and so I think the church is going through puberty has Got to find its voice it's got to figure out where are we relevant where is uh the black church on Palestine uh where is
the black church on uh mental health uh where is the black church on same-sex marriage uh and the black church has become muted on vo on issues that matter to this generation MH so you you ain't going to say nothing right about nothing M you can't just tell people go vote and you ain't telling them why the white Evangelical Church has taught the black church a lesson we have learned white Evangelical Church said hey Trump get rid of Ro versus Wade and get rid of same-sex marriage and we with you m we don't care how
many lawsuits we don't care what it is that you do we don't care if you groping somebody staying 10 toes down on our issues and we we there right you got to ask black people if KLA Harris gets elected Donald Trump gets elected we walk in there what Is our ask power concedes nothing without a demand why is it that every other group can get reparations but black people and why aren't we holding anybody accountable to get it what's the demand that the most Progressive black man for Atlanta was Maya Jackson who made up in
his mind that no real business will be done without black people being at the table now we like looking successful and not really being successful and so I Think that the church has got to figure out what do we do to reposition ourself on the board and play chess in our Checkers but do you blame people for not going to church no I understand it okay but but and the the flip side of it cam the flip side of it is black people are not going to church but they are watching online so since the
pandemic viewership of faith-based organizations has doubled so they don't want to get Caught in the trappings of y'all don't want me here cuz I got a tattoo cuz I got pearcing in the churches we grew up in that skirt got to come past that knee that toe got to be close on that shoe the earring cannot be dangled M right now you right now could not walk in the average Apostolic Church yes sir cuz they G to fight you at the door drum roll over a hat yes sir you got you got to figure it
out what the yes so what what's the real thing I remember when I Was passion in Baltimore big drug dealer died got killed and they had the funeral at my church church is packed in jammed and there's an altercation at the door I get out of the pull pit walk to the door cuz I'm thinking two different factions getting ready go at it correct cam the faction at the doors my ushers is trying to fight Negroes cuz they won't take off baseball hats and sunglasses I said are you crazy this may Be the only time
I can get them to church and you fighting over a raven's hat their life is on the line their soul is at stake and so we got to recalibrate what is really important and what do really have value so with that particular Point um I had this interesting conversation with my mother and all my mother know is church yeah right God has blessed me to have two Earthly angels That I know are pure and one of them is my grandmother yeah Hade Lou Newton and the other one is my mother when I mean pure I
mean don't even know that what an inside of a club look like wow she know Hallelujah Night oh yeah but she don't know nah yeah and she has this uh platform that she uses to bring women to Christ it's called made and it's an acronym for mothers and daughters empowering right and the emphasis uh the Emphasis is the mothers empowering the daughters but also the daughters are empowering the mothers I love it and with that I had a conversation with my mom just saying like M you ever been to Magic City just to see like
I I just really wanted to know no right she said uhuh son like what's that they got good food said I heard they got some good hot wings you know what I'm saying but hot like I and then I ended up telling her Like oh that's a adult Club boy you know and I was telling her this I said so if somebody who worked at Magic City came into your specific seminar quote unquote on a week toe basis and they spoke about their trials and tribulations in the club what would you say it just depends
on what they say I said but if they give you a donation are you going to take that donation she said of course I said see Mom you don't understand what you just Did right when somebody is is coming to a vessel or coming to a source for in essence church talk repentance if I want to repent you can't judge what I done been through right it's not for you Pastor Deacon mother evangelist to judge if I was a prostitute or not if I was a pimp or not if I was a drug dealer or
not if I you know right committed adultery or not I'm I'm I'm I'm coming to the only source that I know that will Be forgive me and even in here yeah yeah y ain't forget but y'all going to take my money right at offering time matter of fact y'all going to double it up and say that ain't enough M so I think it's very mindful that there is a stigma of old church because when I tell you one of those angels that I mentioned had Lou Newton to this day I am 35 years old and
I will swear this or promise this over a stack of Bibles I've never seen my grandmother wear Pants wow wow I have never really seen that I of think about I ain't never seen I've never seen my grandmother's kneecap yeah that's how long her skirts are yeah she got a skirt in every color yeah but that's just because she's from that the old church yeah I get it but I think the the problem is we have equated wardrobe with Warfare m uh is that your clothes is not what Makes you Christian uh so that could
be a young woman coming out of Magic City who got the power to lay hands and the circumstances of her life bed from him we miss it and we're looking for people to come Church ready you going to the gym people laughing at people at the gym who on the treadmill overweight where else should they be mhm but in that place people in church want you perfected they don't want you improve process MH and our responsibility is Where do I embrace you in the process right so if you go to the church you grew up
in Sunday and get up and say hey I done gone from smoking a pack a week to six nobody will clap they will only clap when you stop smoking all together M but not for the journey and so what this generation looking for is where's the authentic applaud me that I'm trying right BL me that I'm doing better than where I was But to that point though that's not just a church thing cuz I mean you're making a a very valid point pastor and I want to say even in the world or even in on
social media they don't they don't applaud you for walking up the steps or walking at all yeah they just prefer you to go to a doctor take a pill and then you take a back shot picture so you take a a photo on the mirror and then boom that get all the Likes that get all the comment because social media is like church we only show the success we never show the process so you dating somebody and it falls apart next thing we know all the pictures that been did ah man look listen I promise
I promise to you I promise to I literally not granted and and I don't want you to judge me no we it together say I'm over here looking at somebody page the other day and you would have thought she just started living at the age of 30 right I Said hold on I'm scrolling back down it ain't no all her all her post start at 2022 I said hold on you ain't got no high I know you done had Instagram as long as you done been in high school oh yeah yeah but them p and
then homeboy you know I want to I I love the journey I love the process it's like all of a sudden you just done magically lost 30 lbs oh yeah then they a trainer Man follow me for more content on herbs and Berries and and even with the even with the trainer yeah I go to a place right now I'm not going to say no names I work out and seeing how content creators make content yeah you would have thought that they be in there just killing it I got news for you I hate to
be the bear do for the they do six sets and that's it yeah but when they post it you would have thought boy that was a high intensity training session like no other it's that's Church they Know six scriptures so they put them in rotation and you think that they know the full depth I've read uh something this morning that people who sing the lyrics but don't know the Lord or just doing karaoke it's just it's just a performance it don't it don't even have no depth or any substance to it you're right how do
you knowing that we've identified what a issue is yes how do you integrate old and new not being too Old yeah in this new age and not being to new in this new age too I passed an intergenerational church so I got can you explain I got Baby Boomers and gen Z okay in the same church so my praise team will be singing Maverick City Kirk Franklin Fred Hammond jumping across the stage I got to walk right to that mic and say draw me nearer M they them old people ain't going to move till that
him come in there it don't matter what you doing That jumping around ain't going to make you cry you got to find that red hm book uh and so every Sunday we are intentional to touch all of the touch points of every generation uh to know that it's the same God but is has different packaging I I I you see it so accessible now and I we're going to get into it later on in regards to your methodology as far as reaching the people but is there a specific way like I'll give you an example
but your Example is going to be in Ministry yeah I could tell if a person a good football player or a good athlete in general 10 minutes tops it won't take you that long it I can look at first glance and I can say oh he the truth or he got the potential to be the truth I can tell how a person walk I can tell how a person talk I can tell how a person car themselves I can tell how a person throws I can tell how a person care I don't need you to
go through a 30 To 45 minute to two hour workout to let me know bro you really like that yeah I can if we take off all numbers yeah and we take out all names in a blank a blank field full of football players I can tell you who starting on each team I cannot do that for a Christian why not because the anointing does not remain resident it can go and come so the gentleman who's holding your camera right now I'm like oh he just a Cameraman but that doesn't tell me any depth of
his prayer life the Bible says man looks at the outer appearance but God looks at the heart and so that's why church people can be the most judgmental but they're dyslexic because they read people backwards because they don't look like church don't mean that church is not in them people who are in jail can probably preach better than most preachers in the in the pull pit cuz they devotional life Is more intense their prayer life is more focused they're only centered in on the word of God and so we've got to really remove the stigma
it is not watching how they run as you will do as a pastor I've got to see how they walk how do you walk through difficulties how do you walk through challenges how do you walk when you feel separated from God that that's the real evidence of whether you fumbling the ball or whether you being tackled but You said something and I don't know if it was anything to kind of further but you said going and coming in regards to like when you in religion and any type of religion and one of my most interesting
courses in college graduating from Auburn University with a sociology degree I had to take a religion class yeah a criminology class psychology class that was kind of like My most as the as they would say these days that was my most litest semester yeah cuz I was just so in I felt like a nerd yeah but as you feel that in Ministry do you think that there's phases where you're all in and you're all out or is it just one way that you have to be no you evolve with the circumstance of your life and
you see things through a different lens who God was to you at Auburn M it's not who God is to you at Fellowship yes sir Your life experiences make you see him differently um you you don't know who God is to be a father if you've always had one mhm uh and so the dimensions of who God is is revealed based off of your circumstance same with uh being a pastor in Ministry you're evolving as the church is evolving I'm now engaged so what I looked at in scripture as a single man it's different than
how it is that I'm looking at it Headed towards the Altar for marriage it impacts how it is that I preach how it is that I relate what it is that my focus is because I am evolving as a person they have this saying now in urban like world I'm more spiritual than I am religious yes what does that mean nothing okay it means absolutely nothing we're all Spirit beings having a human uh existence but people who are Spiritual but you're not religious you just in the galaxy just floating right you praying to some higher
being what higher being uh there has to be some acknowledgment that is higher than self correct uh that puts us in a place of humility to realize I am not in charge right uh but there is a power that is greater than I am but is it is cuz I I hear it more than not yeah and going back to something that you said in regards to is Is we're at an alltime low of people yeah um people want they want a spiritual connection yes and they don't know where to land uh they keep spinning
the block trying to find what is it is it in incense is it in black soap is it in waste beads is it in meditation is it in Pilates they're trying to find something people who don't believe in God but got scripture tattooed on their bod hello people don't believe in God and want to Get married Hey listen come on man you get right go there I'm trying listen I'm still in the first quarter Pastor I ain't trying to you at half time you ain't in the first quarter listen I'm trying to tell you I
say listen just just buckle up just unbuckle one of them cuz I want to tell you I want to hang out now yeah no we here but before we get all red up got a whole slate you you good I'm great you need some water I'm great you know You want to sing some hands no I ain't got no singing in me say l now um one thing that I have known before even seeing you on TV I saw you on social media yeah right how have you going back to like we're still in this
realm of Old Church New Church how have you been able to identify leveraging social media as a resource to expanding your reach yeah my grandfather as I told you was a preacher when he was coming along in Ministry they said radio Was of the devil my father came up he was one of the first black on TV they said television was of the devil Our Generation they said the internet was demonic mhm then Co came yes Lord and all everybody went online so I think that you've got to find what is your medium to reach
the masses I I preach to more people Online than I've ever preached to in person On Any Given Sunday is 40 to 50,000 people online my church can't hold that so I'm understanding that uh this is the platform and the medium that God has given me to get that word out so even with that now I would say that I don't know mega church yeah right I you got to come visit come listen I'm not even going to be the one that say I will waiting on the invite Because you know how church is yes
and you know how there's an unspoken word as far as members it's almost like set tripping yeah hold you going over there to Newberg I thought you was with holy Z you going over there to Elevation Church hold on you tripping yeah you tripping bro you feel me but I I just I don't know mega church I know Church a intimate Church where it may be 50 to potential 150 people in our church is like oh that's wall to wall I got it but You but you go to thrift stores yes sir and you've been
to Linux yes sir and you can get some from either one of them bangers absolutely but you just going to have a little bit more to put in the offering at one more than the other then I need you to go to the thrift before you come to me I stay at Holy Z mess with me I but I would say this how do you manage one thing that to my point is this how do you manage the relationship yeah in a Mega chur how many people do you have at your church 10,000 Lord Jesus
that's a blessing it is um I don't I know like I said 150 people in my Dead's Church yes it'll be like yo chologist came in here you know what I'm saying like that's the only thing I know I've been when I was in college I I went to a uh a couple churches and they had a lot of uh people and I just thought to myself I was like how do you manage the volume of requests yeah Because like I said growing up in a household first Sunday was Pastor Sunday Second Sunday was Evangelistic
Sunday third Sunday was host of the first family fourth Sunday was youth Sunday then you got another month first you see what I'm saying and I would always see my father as a person who I wouldn't say dare I say living a double life but he was a hard worker i' never known my father to take Ministry 100% I don't even think he he could mentally do he's just so on the go but but when he gets calls late at night he gets calls during the day he has to be accessible to the people right
so you talking about 10,000 yes how in the word let me back up is we only have the size conversation about church that's the only place we have the size convers nobody is saying I ain't going to see Usher because there's too many people there I ain't going to see The Falcons cuz man look at this Stadium this is unbelievable I am grac of God to have an incredible staff I can't do it all by myself uh it is a team yes sir that gets it done uh and so you got to be mindful that
Jesus preached to thousands but he only pastured 12 so there's 12 leaders is who it is that he imparted to but he preached to the crowd my responsibility is to pour into my team and my staff To go and do that work there's no way humanly possible that I would be able to effectively take every phone call meet with every parishioner be there in every crisis but I got an incredible team uh that has shares my vision shares my passion uh and shares uh my heart for God's people yes sir that's a great answer I
I I only know my Dad yeah you know what I'm saying like I only know like so I could I was wasn't trying to say but not saying that you received it This way but I wasn't trying to say like man you got a big church like no no no no not just you and particular I'm saying but that's often the argument uh on it I didn't grow up in a church just the size of the one that I pastor but how did you get to that point did you have did you always have the
vision of being a a a church of many yes but not that many I it was beyond the scope of my possib ability um We regrettably only dream the size of our exposure man now that's that ain't just in church yeah period That's it's across the board can you please say that again yeah we only dream at the size of our exposure because what we're exposed to is the only things that we think are reachable it's crazy I was having this conversation um with my Lady and she said how can a person who is raised
or people who are raised in the same house yeah fathered and mothered by the same mother and the father yeah eat the same food yes have the same doctrine of of dos and don'ts and still when you get old because of what happened when they left the house what they saw what they were exposed to sometimes the generational curse is not Demonic sometimes a generational curse is your parents limitation [Music] amen am man listen yeah you ain't got to go to church and know like I ain't start that that's blasphemic I ain't going to keep
making no jokes but that one hit right there yeah and and that fear will come by way of them and not you yeah you had to Wrestle through I got to a place uh in my Ministry that what I was dealing with in that crowd my father didn't have any experience in I'm saying it it is different when you comeing on hey who you going to call when you got 32 million in debt that Friendship Circle shrinks in we can laugh and Kiki watch the game but when you dealing with different stuff at a different
oxygen level most of the people you grew up with will have asthma they can't breathe it so what you trying to share on what it is that you going with they don't even have a frame of reference and so now you feel bad for being burdened and so most successful black Men have functional depression cuz I got to act like it's okay cuz I don't want to let down the people who would be jealous to be in my problem man listen here they got a thing they call in in the military you got a suffering
silence yeah and I do it every day people don't even know it yeah I literally literally drive a truck that got all the amenities that I want I like blam my music you Know I like the old church with Bishop Paul Morton oh yeah you know yeah oh open the lady that yeah also John P ke yeah then you know feel like old and new Kirk Franklin you know what I'm saying uh all of them and I drive that car with anticipation of knowing like it happened yesterday one of my good friends he said hey
bro you going to leave your car I'm Like yeah let they ain't going to take that one right and my children often times say Daddy when we going to drive to Bentley Daddy when we going to try the roll Ry Daddy when we going to try the Ferrari right Daddy when we going to try that flashy old school right there what what the chel right what's this this when Daddy the Corvette and it it don't dawn on me that I've been trying to blend in you can't I but but this is the thing though you
can't I can't you're normaly so the thing is this I don't like wearing jewelry like that I like wearing nice things yeah but I don't really like wearing jewelry like that because when I go to my son's practice for example yeah I don't want nobody to to turn heads and be like oh he got that c too cuz what what are people going to say yeah he going to go broke yeah It is uh when they not even I'm sorry but when they when they can't even fathom yeah the the reality of paying for what
does a purchase of a Ferrari F12 look like what does a per what does a purchase of a Lamborghini yours look like and I did it off of hard work yeah but I I try to blend in and be like bro I'm just like y'all yeah not knowing like yo you not I'm not you not yeah James Baldwin has something called survivor's guilt where you feel Bad about doing well that you're made to feel guilty because you've excelled uh and you end up apologizing for being exceptional uh and it is uh only something black men
deal with white men never feel bad about doing well you say man you killing it we go into false humil I'm all right I'm sure I'm doing okay yeah and uh having To navigate that space is uh is a tap dance and I I give you my experiences because it's a little different knowing that and and I want to talk about yours too but for me that's why I have normalized isolation for me yeah cuz I find myself in these type of situations male and female right when I go shopping at Linux I feel bad
cuz you know I'm with a family member I'm with a good friend I'm With his friend and I'm with another person that just so happenly became a friend you know what I'm saying and I go to the register and it's just like man you they don't they don't directly ask they like yeah ho right here F right but they you just get they just get looking at it yeah man oh masika huh 1,200 n d but then they see you $4,000 at the cash register yeah They get a little bit more Bolder so I feel
obligated nope be free but but here be free that's I don't don't I don't want that pressure be free now Oprah Winford gave Gail King a million dollars and said you can't be around me and be broke I don't want you to look in my cash register to be able to find somebody who fights in your weight class without Being a competitor is an investment so when you find authentic people who actually can rejoice without being envious that's a different kind of Peace just yes but so we look at Envy as evil yes sir Envy
sometimes is uh is lust and we have reduced lust to sex L says I want what you have I I read philosopher said everybody wants your view but nobody wants your climb so to get to where it is that you Are at that mountain they want a helicopter in yes sir a elevator elevator for so no you you don't have an obligation to carry people I use this expression don't give people a ride who won't push your car when you out of gas but you won't know oh you'll know you'll know since we since we
you absolutely know when when Janet Jack him was dating Germaine dpri she told him she was broke to see Why he was going to stay it was only after he proved that he was there for her that she disclosed she really didn't file bankruptcy you going to have to find a way how do I test what is the motive why you looking like that man when I tell you I'm looking through you yeah cuz this is the thing and I would always say this my father told me this loyalty yeah is not tested when It's
convenient for you yes loyalty is only tested when things are unconvenient for you I'mma add to your father don't confuse loyalty for consistency just cuz they always around don't mean they you they just may be waiting for that moment but how do you how do you identify that though because like I said I didn't I I didn't necessarily have Envious around me I I I I never really had jealousy around me I just had I know my heart yes I started coming and they do too so I started protecting myself my mother said to my
sister because you are a giver make make sure you don't fall in love with a taker cuz a taker don't have limits and neither does a give them so you got to figure out who will give at my level even if they can't give at my Level but an empty cup can't pour that's right unless it's a Dixie cup and even you got check on what's the size of that cup I'm trying to tell you a empty cup can't pour yeah but the picture is always bigger than the cup yes sir and you keep pouring
in the people who don't have the capacity to pour it ain't that they don't love you it's not that they don't have your best interest not that they got a knife to put in your back you got to wrestle through who am I talking To in this season of my life when I know I'm talking about you I'm talking about in generality yes sir when I know I got a call but I feel Unworthy of it yeah when I'm not sure how's the world going to receive all of this just your Sanctuary this is Marketplace
Ministry at its best yes sir you doing it you a frustrated runaway preacher any other way you want to do it fine I ain't frustrated I just used I used different platforms for my for my Ministry fine let's let's say that yes sir a old lady prophesied to Denzel Washington that she was going to he was going to be a preacher and preach all all over the world he said in his last Awards I didn't realize that my preaching would be through film so this is the platform the stage or the pull pit yes sir
that has put you in a place so Ain't nobody got to call you Reverend and you can sleep at Night yeah you're right you sure right yeah I just man listen I I I live life now and I I feel more dangerous yeah because people don't know how much you making yeah it's like you can assume right he's supposed to be so if I do drive around in the day in one of my cars or yeah you so happen to see one of my houses it's like oh he got that from not knowing that oh
that's that's new money yeah and I just I hate that Now I do have to blend in because most people that I come in contact with on on a normaly is they not used to seeing a Richard Mill they not used to seeing you know the the things that people usually rap about yeah and I just I don't want that to become a distraction because I will say that I am humble but I'm going I'm going to let you know when you when you playing with me now you know I got to remind you now
you dig so that's all I I just there was A boy in the Bible who was possessed by demons living living in the cemetery cutting himself with glass kept trying to put him in Chains Jesus delivered delivered them and the Bible's next verse says and the people were afraid of them they were never afraid of him as long as he was demon possessed never afraid of him as long as he's hurting himself but when he got his mind right Is when he became the threat your greatest threat is healthy cam is balanced cam they want
you in one dimension and don't understand there more to you than that all of us grew up in church and we know this story about the wise men coming to Jesus when uh he's born yes sir they bring gold frankincense and M every Church whether you Baptist Pentecostal am is the same play nowhere came in the Bible does it Say it's three wise men nowhere we've assumed there three wise men because it's three gifts what if it's only two nobody was prepared for one person have more than one gift so you got to prepare yourself
to a place that people will never know your gift because of how it's wrapped they didn't know what they was carrying across that desert for three Years gold frankincense and murder the Bible says when they got in the manger that's the first time they opened it you're not going to open what your real gift is until you're in the presence of your assignment I'm which you boy listen pastor we got to step away from this you you preaching now I would say let me ask you this what's the biggest misconception about you is it how
much time we got we got a Lot hold on we got a lot yeah it is um I have had to grow up in front of the church um I became a national preacher at 27 I had a bent by 30 I'm sitting on stages with Bishop Jake Benny Hinn Mike Murdoch on TBN the word network every night so people saw me grow up with twist in my hair and then they saw me go through a Divorce saw me live through infidelity saw me go through a child out of wet lot saw me move to
a brand new city and try to start my life over the way that God has wired my life is my failures are always the same size of My Success cuz that's the only way he'll keep me humble and regrettably uh Dwight Eisenhower said bad news will go around the world twice before good news puts on Shoes so people will always remember your tackles but they'll always forget your touchdown Downs so I've never had a blogger write about me feeding a million people never a blogger talk about me giving out a million dollars of scholarships to
HBCU never seen a blogger talk about rescuing a church that was headed to foreclosure cuz everybody likes the tackles and nobody plays the Highlight footage uh and so if you are living for The crowd's affirmation your only hear the booze and you'll never be able to hear the cheers uh and you got to find what David said how do you encourage yourself a psychology example uh that you probably read about an arburn 12 of us who are in this room 11 people when you walked in the room said man I love that ring you got
On he like oh thank you thank you thank you you said to 11 of them one of them said man why you wear that ring you thinking about man should I have worn this ring or the other one I got at home cuz we embrace the negative and dismiss the positive my dad said to me a critical conversation with me I was thinking about quitting Ministry walking away cuz what what age I don't know I was Uh 40 yeah 38 man somewhere between 38 and 40 and uh I was going to be a president of
a black HBCU at 40 and uh my dad's like why are you quitting I said man everybody saying I can't make it I can't rebound my mistakes are too big and he said did the crowd call you or did God call you said no the crowd ain't call me God did Said' then why are you responding to the crowd about your call you got to come to a a moment in your own personal life where you got to really assess why am I doing this am I doing it for the likes John Maxwell said if
you want to be like sell ice cream but the moment you put sprinkles on it somebody's allergic yeah yeah so that I I think that the Mike Tyson said in an interview what do You want to clear up that people don't understand Mike T said I don't want to clear up nothing let them believe what they want to believe um what I think the greatest misperception people have about me is I am not impacted people see me going on uh and don't know I do it with a limp I deal with a spring uh I
deal with bandages under the suit you know I'm wounded for my own transgressions uh but uh going on I Think is uh my responsibility and it is my cross being in Atlanta understanding and knowing certain figures in in in Christ uh World changes C dollar uh and obviously New Birth uh with Pastor Eddie Long um those are just Staples just you just know you don't even know I remember passing World changes well I grew up on in College Park so I I seen that but I never really knew where New Birth was you know what
I'm saying and then I Passed it and I was like oh man that's the you see what I'm saying and I I like I said my my exposure to church was a little different yeah so I was just like wow B that's a a college or right you know but with that transaction uh that transition um my notes say 2018 why why New Birth yeah right uh did you was there a um a reasoning or or just take us through that process my last two years I was in Baltimore I started a church in Baltimore
in 2000 Mhm um Millennials and uh I did three services on a Sunday morning 7:30 9:30 11:30 in my last two years I was depressed because cam nobody ever told me you can be unhappy and successful no nobody ever told me that you can have the Holy Ghost and be unhappy right and so I was going through the mo and uh I knew my time was up I started that church in Baltimore and uh I didn't have an example of how do you how do you leave something you started cuz we think you just supposed
to be there to the end to the hello yeah and uh Bishop long passed and um I wasn't even a candidate uh they asked me to come and preach because they didn't have a pastor and I was just filling in a Sunday and uh it's snowballed uh out of That I'm am and uh I never saw myself not being am cuz that's the denomination I was raised in I was grew in this all that I knew uh but God had a plan for me that was uh again what I talk about that was beyond my
exposure M yeah and I I think just just for the for the sake of this question and we don't have to Harbor on this but it wasn't necessarily Ideal certain things that was coming out yeah with the correlation with the ministry as a whole how are you able to still draw people to Christ yeah and to follow you to a greater colge yeah you are I was just teaching on this the other day you are never anointed for perfect situations the per if the situation is perfect your anointing is unnecessary uh and so the church
was uh emptied out uh had mountains of debt was Facing foreclosure and uh I got there and I was the happiest I had ever been because I felt like this was Where I Belong I I was happy to passor a half empty church that had $32 million worth of debt I was waking up excited yes sir um because that that's where I felt like I was called to be well were you excited because of New Journey yeah or you was Excited because it was just a new task I was excited to trust God for what
I didn't see I was like man listen you ain't bringing me down here to be on no foreclosure you had to turn this around yes sir and I didn't know what was going to happen I just knew through prayer that this is where so it was all of those things it was a New Journey it was a new chapter it was a new opportunity for me I was pressing control alt delete And start pressing all the but I'm pressing all of the buttons to start all over again so it was uh I'm I'm as excited
now as I was when I got here in 2019 M I think the thing too that I had Kirk Franklin on um and he spoke about how members or even people people perceive the messenger as Christ wow wow right yeah that's not to say You're not human yeah that's not to say TD Jake Eddie L Klo dollar yes uh uh um you know Paul Morton like it don't matter who you are yeah Joel Olin it don't matter you're not God no or close but how how do you deliver that message because I think it is
the transparency people are looking for to say I'm not God I'm like you I struggle I get upset I want to cuss people out we talked about offline I Don't always make the right decisions correct or the best choices so let's take this walk together not from a place of perfection but a part of the journey are to say how it is that that we can all grow on God and I am exhibit a that he looks beyond all your faults that God can still use me in spite of me and that's why you can't
be anointed and arrogant you got to realize I am not qualified for the Job yeah I think too you when when you mention or you say things like any let's take words out yeah when you say faing foreclosure yes in debt $32 million um and and and the circumstance ain't matching the Tas it's like Goliath right David how in the for you I I'm always eager to hear how much of church is actually a business yeah and how do you Manage and direct the administration side yeah to appease to the functionality of the church too
as well yeah I think it is um I don't think that it's a business that's why the government called it nonprofit Desmond 22 uh a starart activist against apothide out of South Africa said every year the poorest people in the community should vote as to whether that church should stay open another year and if they have not helped The community they should close uh we are in the business of restoring people we should be in the business of elevating people's Consciousness exposure and their faith see most people look at green leaf and think that's what
the average black church is the average black church in America is 50 people and the average black Pastor is bivocational MH the real business of the church is how am I transforming that Community where do I Step in where the government has stepped out so we were able to feed a million people in the pandemic when the food pantries were closed the food banks were closed the government was uh calling for social distancing those were the hands and the feet of God be honest with you camp our church grew because of feeding not because of
preaching not because of singing but because of serving and when people watched us serve they said now that's the kind of church we can get With um you come from am yeah right and for the people who don't know what yes am is the oldest black denomination in America it is as old as America 17 887 uh started in Philadelphia Pennsylvania uh in Georgia's Episcopal Church Gentlemen by the name of Richard Allen was praying at the altar the ushers tapped him and said you need to get up because a white man wants to pray at
that altar all of the black people were sitting in the Balcony he gave the Malcolm X signal let's roll and he went down the street and began preaching in a black on business in 1787 that's how the am Church started now with that being said New Birth yeah is a Baptist Church yes do you guys have white members maybe four with those four yes do you preach different today no no no absolutely not white people are The number one consumers of rap music they understand the problem and the perplexity without ever living in Marcy Projects
the reality is whether they like it or not Jesus is black so come to his house we but how how how you how you figure Jesus black cuz all the pictures that I see yeah blonde hair blue eyes long you flowing hair yeah they not reading that Bible the Bible says he got hair like Lamb's wo skin like Bron there's no way in the world he could have hid in Egypt and he's blonde you talking about sticking out come on man no way in the world if you go to Asia the pictures of Jesus are
Asian you go to Russia the pictures of Jesus are Russian is the by product of slavery they made Jesus look like the oppressor to try to make us submit when we ever realize the strength of who it Is that we are James Brown started a revolution say Loud I'm Black and I'm Proud we bleaching our skin while they getting cancer from suntan machines we hiding our women are hiding their behinds while they getting injections to look at it and kid in school our kids was made ashamed of their lips now they getting lips injected we
the most beautiful people the most brilliant people the most creative people on the planet and can't Identify that God looks like us and so it's up to us to change that narrative do you think that that's a form of racism no it's a form of Truth okay yeah racism is to change who he is but to say how great he is without acknowledging him the reason the reason why I said that is yes am right and and there's a lot of just having conversation that's all we doing and and I and I have to yeah
have I have to provoke thought I have to open the dialogue of Understanding when we when we say black yeah black churches black communities black this black that yeah what about churches just in general yeah a lot of people felt a certain type of way way where the movement of black lives matter and then somebody remixed it and said well all lives matter right it is only for black people that are we charged with Reverse Racism you've traveled all over the world and every major city you've been to In America You've been to Chinatown every
major city has Little Italy in 50 states you ain't been to little Africa nowhere cuz we made not to embrace who it is that we are but even Africans don't even look at us as that's not true that's again how it is that they are dividing us the year to return to in Ghana 2020 black people from everywhere went to Ghana felt like home 5,000 black People have expatriated to Ghana cuz they said this is finally where it is that I feel I'm at home mhm Atlanta in Houston is now Nigeria wakanda yes right president's
debate recently KLA Harris said in the middle of the debate and stop me in my tracks that 800,000 Polish people living in Pennsylvania had no idea no idea that that stronghold is that heavy they moving in packs it's only us that Having to blend in and assimilate and Associate and say oh man no I'm with everybody no no the Polish don't have to apologize for being polish amican it's only us that have to do that Shakespeare said to thine own self be true we got to be true to who it is that we are while
we on this topic you say we Shakespeare say we got to be true to who we are yeah well having a conversation a In-depth conversation because I like talking to people yeah it took a white man to tell me and he apologized PRI to anytime somebody say I don't mean no offense oh yeah something is about to be offive is coming here it come so having this conversation he's saying this the straight face yeah he says how is it when a black man kill a black man MH it's not really outrage yeah but when a
white man kills a black man it's going To start a RI the American Media has manipulated The Narrative of crime black onblack crime is a madeup thing you have never heard white onwhite crime never heard Asian on Asian crime they' have tried to fraction and comp compartmentalize us to feel as if we're the crime is is where we are oh ho okay go ahead the lead murderers in America are white men the lead robbers in America are white men the large amount of rapists are white men the highest Number of domestic abusers is white men
the highest number of Arrested pedophiles is white men the greatest number of drug uh dealers arrested is white men but if you ask the average American who are the proponents of crime is a black face to it the debate same presidential debate they're now trying to create this narrative that the immigrants are bringing in the crime because they never want to own up to what it is that they Have done part of our responsibility is to pull the sheets off we had a a shooting here in Georgia not long ago uh young man named Co
14 years old went shot up his high school his father's now being char charged can you imagine what conversation me and you would be having if col was black and Colt's black father gave him a gun as Colt's white father gave him a gun at 14 for Christmas the television the internet Would explode on the irresponsibility of black fathers on why it is that young black men have guns and are carrying guns it is has always shifted to make black men feel hyper aggressive hypersexual and Hyper criminalized it's part of a larger historic original sin
of America that always uh criminalizes and points their fingers at black men when is absolutely not true the overwhelming majority cam of black men who are under penal supervision are Under penal supervision for nonviolent offense they on ankle bracelets Home monitors on parole on probation for possession not for distribution that may not sound like it's significant but it's very meaningful and so that's why it is that we've got to ask the hard and the difficult questions where is Criminal Justice in America and is Justice just us that's a lot to Unpack but as a black
man in America yes as an interviewer yes I can't choose sides yes so there is some truth to what you were saying but also there's some hypocrisy in some of those things too because when you talking about the most dangerous cities in America MH you ain't seen the consensus in 2024 2023 2022 yes but you know nine times out of 10 where are those cities going to be where it is the Most populated so you have to do the demographics on where the crime is happening per capita the reality is the largest amount of drug
addiction drug selling and drug possession it's not Chicago it's not New York it's not DC it's in the rural areas as long as it was in the the city it was criminalized when it when the white communities then it's hospitalized we made drug addiction a Medical issue when it got in the hands of white teenagers when it got in the hands of black teenagers lock them up and throw away the key the data is clear you got to look it up it'll show you per capita where it is that it is happening but is the
rural areas in major cities like Baltimore where it is that I'm from Charlotte where it is that you were crime is going down crime is going down because employment is going up because to my point yes now there's the thing of What you're saying is true yeah but a lot of what we hear may be propaganda yes it may be uh hypocrisy to a degree but when you hear the statistic that African-Americans are are the leading race in prisons yes and institutions of of of um penal penalty around America yeah how do we get that
we ain't doing that because we going to stand at the alter now yeah it it is uh the prison pipeline there 1 million Black men right now under penal supervision there are more black men under penal supervision right now than there were black men in slavery so you got to ask yourself you can identify you can play for the Miami Dolphins and end up on your face because racial profiling still exist you can in fact be sitting in jail because you don't have money for Bond that's $5,000 mean you may have it but brothers Are
sitting there last couple of fathers a day Fathers Day days ago I went and bailed out 50 black men who had been sitting there for three months they didn't even have trial because they didn't have money to post for Bond the system has got to be uh reexamined and uh really doing autopsy Tama mallerie uh says the system ain't broken it was built that way so we got to rebuild that system from the inside Out uh and figure out why is uh the sentencing off um I I I'll say this let's step away from criminology
for a second and let's talk about moral compass yes and doing right by each other yes I was lucky enough to have experienced all all Races and a lot of different ethnicities because of my god-given ability of football Yeah by way of Scholarship offers by way of scholarship visits or visits to different colleges um out of state um going to many different countries just off of my skill and this statement alone hits a little different can I speak freely please this your show but I don't want to disrespect you no have it when you hear
this statement man [ __ ] you [ __ ] versus to hell with you Brad I'm through with you one of those individuals can still work together the other one of those individuals it's on site if I am never see you again and every time I see you from here on I'll be damned yeah so how do we control that propaganda yeah because they don't report that you just have to Understand when two black men yeah are in confrontation it's going to be a cold day in Hell before they can resolve that issue yeah George
jewy wrote a book called post-traumatic slave syndrome that we fight just for respect is that uh you in the when you in high school you going to blows of somebody accidentally step on your air force on yes sir because respect is the last thing that we Got I want to be respected more than I want to be honored uh and it is something that it is that we carry that our grandfathers will call bold boy our fathers will call son you the first generation of black men in your family to be called mister cuz we're
looking for that level of respect and so we've got to do a better job of finding a way to affirm each other to have Disagreements without it being final that we can agree to disagree M you know white white people will argue over who going to be the next president we fighting over Kendrick and Drake we got we got full we fighting over LeBron and Jordan you're at our very base yeah we had an all out internet War while Little Wayne ain't doing half time and Kendrick doing it I mean it's a It's a thumb
war who's selling out who a house negro that you ain't put little Wayne on ain't nobody going to war for Britney Spears over Taylor Swift and Taylor Swift but we will draw a l a Line in the Sand over what it is that we understand this yes and this is about to hit you yes speaking on music why is it that there's only one genre of music music that you can have a beef and it's Accepted you ever heard of gospel beef no have you ever heard of a country beef no about a jazz no
what about a POP beef no you ever heard in sync beefing with Back Street Boys no you ever heard Kenny Chesney be beefing with just you dig what I'm saying yes but there's archives and archives and archives of music music about beef West Coast versus East Coast yes this person vers that person and it all points back to the black man so and and dare I say This because I have to protect myself and the platform of cuz they going to quick to say oh [ __ ] you cooning [ __ ] who who you
with yeah but this is something that we have to talk about as black men and say bro we got to start doing right by ourselves yeah the other Industries have had beef they just didn't put it on the record they have popularized our dysfunction and disdain there's also no other genre of Music that will consistently denigrate their own women there's no other genre of music that is promoting violence at the level that is controlled by record companies that don't look like us the the the whole uh this is maybe before your time self-destruction Public Enemy
yes sir yeah they wouldn't give them a record deal conscious R can't get airpl can't get airpl Kendrick Lamar Didn't come out last year it is only the beef that made it become popular you had to understand a beef song got you you to the Super Bowl not come come on K listen to me come on cam you listen to music what what is the albums that went platinum you coming you going to get Kendrick Lamar's catalog you putting that up against Bruno Mars I'm for Kendrick I ain't talking about gift I ain't talking about
Talent I'm talking about President of the this is your world president of of Music catalog Mars I'm saying to you what catapulted him to that level of acceptance was beef they paid attention on what's going on with Drake let's put it on there so what's going on in Louisiana with Birdman Nicki Minaj masterpie how come our guy ain't on at halftime and we in New Orleans there another tributary of it we Don't know how it is to celebrate hey man here's a guy who's an independent artist who got a break let's celebrate him and work
in the background and say hey Kendrick why you on there let Lil Wayne come up with you all you can do is laugh cuz you know I'm telling the truth you truth but you don't know the backstory I understand it Lil Wayne's artist is Drake I understand so how he going to come on up no no no I'm saying we don't deal with it in the Back room okay that that's my point I'm not even saying for Lil Wayne to come up there yes sir I'm saying that we do all of our in public Nicki
Minaj tweets so basically what you're saying correct me if I'm wrong had it been another genre of music yes if it were to be a discrepancy yes it would have been done backstage not figuratively backstage but without so now we all in the fight so we all know we all in if you really want to do numbers yes going to bring yes And yeah can't we all just get along yeah Long Live riding the king but we ain't we ain't doing that though but we have to that's we're having this discussion yes we to have
our I know there's certain things in our race that is beautiful yeah that is strong that is admirable that is Something to Believe In yeah but I also know that the same thing is corrupt black people don't do right by black people they do no no no No no no I'm not going to harp on that I'm saying I know way more black people than I know white people so therefore my perspective is going to be a little different I got it and I'm telling you white people don't do right by white people that's cool
but I'm saying this we have to do better I agree I'm not saying that I'm 10 toes in that I agree that so as long as we can understand that I agree and know that yo bro like let's come together cuz we do have and This ain't no statistic this ain't something that you can read or you can probably do this because they study so much yeah black people got the most influen period in the world put an exclamation mark on it I'm ha in Hong Kong that they got their pants drooping in Japan yes
sir yeah no it's true so I'm not I'm not I just I know what it's like where it's so much trial and tribulation in Chicago yeah in La yeah In Compton or as you know they say bompton yeah I know what it's like to go down the street and oh man it's rough around here yeah we don't say that on Rodeo Drive right we don't say that in Buckhead as soon as we get the bank head and that's our peoples doing because that's what I see I get it Dr King said crime is the Bride
of poverty that wherever it is that you see crime poverty is close by and in those Areas they don't have access to capital for entrepreneurship right in those areas you are follow where it is that is the highest rent zip codes the lowest credit scores the lowest educational testing and so there's got to be an intention on how it is that we lift them up in that presidential debate president Trump is a championing for the wealthy kamla Harris is championing for middle class Democrats nor Republican have rolled out an agenda for the Poor our responsibility
is how do we lift up our cousins and them who are not on that middle class track who are not a part of the 1% but they scratching and surviving looking for good times and Florida Evans ain't there no more there's got to be a pattern and a blueprint to say in the words of Marcus Garvey up you mighty people accomplish what you will but that don't happen through osmosis has got to happen through an Agenda with that being said though Pastor I will say there's a lot of people a part of the 1% yeah
figuratively and a part of the 99% literally yeah right yeah and I what I me what I'm saying is you could be a millionaire yeah in your pockets yes and be broke yes in your brain absolutely we don't know money yes think about this in my bloodline Yeah I made more in one week than my grandmother probably made in her whole life yes that's an exception you see what I'm saying but but to that point let me say to you you and I together can name the black billionaires we know them by name know what
they do and know where they live you and I together cannot name the white billionaires with the largest Society Does is always raise up the exceptions and act as if the exceptions are the rules and that's not the case if if the if nine out of 10 of our black billionaires are from athleticism and entertainment and not from business but nine out of 10 white billionaires are from business we got to figure out how it is that we do business M that don't have show attached to it so when we're talking about fiscal and economic
Literacy has got to figure out okay this was great but cam here's the danger 75% of black businesses never become second generation cuz the children don't know how to maintain it they don't know how to take it to the next level because it's made as a fluke we got to make sure that your grandson is able to repeat what you just said I want your unborn grandson to say I made more money in a day than my grandfather ever did here it is and I didn't have his gift that's when we moving into real generational
wealth Negroes are fighting over lamps and a mink coat when Grandma dies cuz they don't have any sense of how it is that we invested and get into that Marketplace to really do it without it becoming competition for us to create that level of generational wealth comes with financial literacy Financial uh Discipline and bringing the whole family together Barry Gordy is the best example I give it again and again and again Barry Gordy wanted to start mtown music no bank would do it he brought his family together said I got an idea the family chipped
in in and gave him the money for mtown so everybody talks about Barry Gordy nobody talks about how nobody in the family has to work cuz they invested in the Business Asians will come to a black community and open up a fried chicken place and live over top of the fried chicken place and there's 12 of them upstairs and they have set out a strategy we're going to stay in this two-bedroom with 12 of of us in here until you can go by the next Corner the greatest amount of Proprietors of hotels in America are
Indians we have moved here and they buying Extended Stays they buying motels not the Marquee down the street not the high not the richz Colton not the West not the Intercontinental they're buying Extended Stays hotels and a report just came out Cam that two 135,000 students in Atlanta are living in Extended State hotels who getting that money we keep uh operating out of a false positive do business on where your passion is it's a Lie do business where the profit is you got to figure out what is missing in my community and how can I
maximize it so only in the black community can Asians get away from doing business with you through plexiglass they can't do it in any other community we got to figure out don't buy out the bar buy out the block I I say over and over and over again the black church is partly responsible for Gentrification cuz all of that property is around the church and we ain't buying it we just letting people come in the wealthiest real estate owners in the world the only two the two wealthiest real estate owners in the world that own
the most property in the world is the Catholic church and McDonald's about to say so the church know how to do business we got to do business Beyond selling pound cake and fish dinners on Friday how do we buy this dilapitated Property how do we bring in a Cam Newton and not ask him for t lives but ask him for strategy so R me this yeah your word is not mine yeah not saying that I don't agree disagree with it or agree with it investing in your community yes is not you said you should invest
where the money is yes correct yes so what should a person do if that's all they know in regards person do in terms Of what make money cuz it ain't no money yeah with mimom and and and and mother mother tiller there is no industry in the world cam no industry in the world that has not produced a millionaire there is a millionaire today black man who became a millionaire for collecting trash there a millionaire today for those that do lawn service we got to figure out how do I get my name on the front
of the check And not on the back of it but we're so consumer driven that we don't know how to shift the narrative we don't know how to change the game the most brilliant black men we know I didn't wasn't raised with you you weren raised with me you was in Atlanta I was in Baltimore the guys we knew and raised with who sold drugs had Fortune 500 mes with Jet Magazine opportunities Elon mus says to that Point yes Elon mus says the people who have the most Insight in business yeah are drug dealers absolutely
not College professors absolutely but we not going to have big Tay Tay and Big Meech leading o or should we yeah we should because I apologized to my church three years ago I'm a third generation preacher as I told you that in my whole black life I've never seen the black church give a scholarship to a young man who wanted a CDL License never seen the black church give a scholarship to a girl that want to be a esthetician or wanted to open up her own lash Boutique because the black church has subscribed to the
false narrative ative the only way to be successful is to go to college as if that is only one track talking that with the pandemic showed us you can be successful with no degree so we got truck drivers doing $100,000 a Year $150,000 $200,000 a year while the guy down the street who went to clar got $200,000 worth of student loans so we got to figure out how it is that we change the narrative change the perspective and change our understanding of what success is I said this um yesterday really I said you got four
sources yeah that don't cost nothing don't be a dummy with a smartphone you got a Girl by the name of Alexa yeah her partner or I don't know If that's her partner but her friend or as they said her twin in Siri yeah ask them they going to tell you everything yeah they was what they call the Ops yeah they going to tell you it all yeah you got a homeboy by the name of Google yeah yeah he he'll take you wherever you want to go yeah he even got a map and there is there's
a source by the name of YouTube mhm that you can graduate from there yeah and not receive no type of diploma or certificate yeah And it's all there yeah when you talking about black people in in regards to money had a situation happened to me not too long ago at at my son's football game and I usually like to give these examples just to see what the response would would be kind of similar to what Janet Jackson did yeah uh a group of kids come up to me and they say hey cam new hey let
me get a picture I look back at him I said hey Bro I said $30 $30 BR just give me a picture I said bro I'm unemployed right now that's $5 from each one of you and I stopped I said whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa I want your money not your daddy [Music] money little man had enough sense to look at me say you going to charge me $30 to just take a picture with you I said yeah I looked down at him and I said you paid $240 for them Jordans didn't you but
you don't question Michael Jordan who already is a billionaire right this phone that you about to hand to me that's a Apple device Yeah Tim Cook don't need your money right he a billionaire right matter of fact that whole outfit that you got on probably came from Amazon right you think Jeff Bezos need more money from you yeah but when I sit up Here and ask you for $5 jokingly or unj jokingly you got the most to say about me because people don't value what's accessible they thought cuz they could get that close yeah that
it's supposed to be free MH yeah access is Commerce and people will post pictures and say I was with my boy cam because we're living in a demographic where people think popularity is Currency so they they gauge their we worth and their wealth by their followers and not by their cash flow but even with that listen to this in the words of Miss Ayana I always like Ayana fix my life yeah she says people got influencers yeah with no influence yes it's true so how does a person who has 10 million people following them on
Instagram don't got $10 million yeah following their bank account yeah Because Dr King said if you call yourself a leader and nobody's following you you're just taking a walk you not you don't know your influence until you give direction until you give instruction me liking a picture does not mean you're influential me telling you go buy this candle and the candle sells out his influence and to that point with that type of Narrative we've allowed people with followers yeah to think they are something that they really not has a line that says chick don't tell
me that your model if you ain't been in Vogue right right cuz we done heard it many times yeah a Instagram model what did Instagram model yeah and I will tell you this ripping no runways free game yes Instagram don't pay yeah like YouTube pay yeah so they keep saying how are you influencing Yeah I just need you to subscribe to my channel my dad says this this is the first generation where you can be a star with no Talent you don't even know what these people do and they're trying to profit off of it
and there is no longterm gain on how this day going to function so they're using the influence so I'm g go to that restaurant and hope I can eat for free because I'mma post the Restaurant I need you to send me clothes because I'mma wear and tag you I'mma come to Fellowship cuz I came let me get a Cuban cuz I'm here and I'mma post you yes sir because they they have seen it as transactional and don't know it's transitional but your word words not mine not that I don't agree yes or disagree okay it's
the access yeah that is Currency yeah so it is it may be beneficial for you to see Pastor in Fellowship respectfully no respectfully the wealthier you are the more reclusive you have to become the poorer you are the more you hang out inclusive what I'm saying what inclusive you got to be yeah and you have to understand that yeah so you you got to stay Home you got to stay home because to go out is a ask whether it's a picture it's a check or it's a donation Bishop Jake said to me years ago the
terrible thing about becoming famous is you can't become unfamous you only become infamous and so you got to figure out what do I do with that level of exposure so that the picture doesn't become tainted so we're living in a in a age of Social media and influence um we talked a little bit off camera and we're witnessing a historical low in marriage rates across many communities yeah especially in Black communities yeah how did we get here uh two things historically um after the New Deal um when African-Americans left the South and start migrating to
the North in order for you to receive Food Stamps and subsidized housing you could only do It if there wasn't a man in the house and so a lot of husbands a lot of fathers had to leave to make a decision to feed their family secondarily nowhere else in the world of any ethnicity have you ever heard a German woman say I don't need a man you've never heard a Scandinavian woman say I don't need a man is that we have um rewired our women out of survivability uh that men are not Necessary the other
part the other flip side of that coin is that we have embraced as men that you are less of a man to settle down old out care song oh no don't do it protect your heart protect your heart uh as opposed to seeing that this is a part of Rights of passage uh for my manhood and for my maturity um for me seeing who it is that I am Forbes Magazine says your income goes up by 76% when you're in a stable relationship because stable yes and was it a singular or plural is that relationship
I had to go back and look but I think it said singular right yes it's so many like this is where we talking now we getting there you you dig what I'm saying because I always have to remind people this quote I'm not going to take advice from a Person I can't or or don't even respect right or you ain't earn my respect to even respect you yes so your hey we think it I could care less yes in Ministry that don't mean you ain't a man right or let me res say it a man
in Ministry doesn't mean that you're not a man first correct we all come and fall short of his glory yes and me knowing my situation having real uncomfortable Conversations with my family and I remember the words like it's yesterday son the way you live I didn't live like that yeah and I didn't teach you that yeah and it pierced my heart cuz I man I went through it I'm the first person C in my family to go through a divorce I'm the first person in my family to have a child not being married my father
said to me I'm disappointed in You and that thing fell on me like a Rox and jabral every son once their father's affirmation uh to know that I crushed them was dizzying for me my parents as I said to you were married for 55 years my grandparents were married for 70 70 years on my paternal side my maternal side they were married for 67 and I'm walking in saying I'm getting a divorce uh the trauma of the divorce on my Family was more than what other people thought but this is the thing that we have
to start identifying especially in church yeah life be life in yeah do you think divorce could have been avoided yes divorce could have been avoided if I was faithful the divorce would have been avoided understood if I honored my vows understood yes but that's a branch on a tree yes we keeping it above yeah what's the root of that yeah how how did how Did we get there now and I'm not I also I have to be mindful to speak from a man's perspective and also for my female viewers as well too yeah it it
happened and I said it is marriage was my first attempt at monogamy and I never gave monogamy a trial run yes sir I was doing on the job training uh and so it was uh my immaturity I had amazing wife she was a amazing mother to my kids amazing Support uh to what it is that I was endeavoring to do uh Bill Clinton was asked uh in an interview why in the world you the president of of America living in the white house why you going to gamble all of this on Monica Lewinsky and Bill
Clinton said because I could and you have to your real maturity is saying no to what you have options to say yes to you got some words Pastor you can you you can put it Together you can make sound so sweet and and and and digestible but at the same time being in church we hear this all the time yeah don't be shacking up yeah don't have no sex before marriage yeah but what what are we to do if we trying to date and you know it's in the music it's in it's in the film
it's in the commercials it's in the the content it's in social media it's everywhere we go so to court a women and to be courted By a man or however you want to identify with sex is there yes how do you how do you n Nancy Reagan in the 80s was the first lady of America and she did this big campaign just say no to drugs this is your brain on on drugs frying an egg in a pot after her campaign drug use in America went up by 80% cuz you can't tell people what not
to do without telling them what to Do the church has demonized everything sexual and so we don't talk about anything that is sexual so the church you grew up in I ain't ever been there I don't know where it is but the church that you grew up in the church that I grew up in talked about and talked against homosexuality but neither of our churches and I ain't never been there neither of our churches ever talked about Molestation okay I put it like this yes we ain't had to go to the same church yes to
know yes that there was a homosexual yes in attendance yes but we never deal with any of the tributaries because the church also said if you were touch inappropriately don't tell don't call the police don't ruin that man's life we said be abstinent but we never heard a message about Masturbation about self-pleasuring don't look at the Playboy book but now you got a whole generation that's watching watching porn on only and it's members with only fans oh yeah yeah and there's more members of I'll put it to you this way this is the best quote
the best statistic you live on statistic best statistic I'm going to give you today for every Church website there are 50 porn sites did you hear what I just said to You I'm trying to process you yes for every Church website there are 50 porn sites there are 49 more opportunities to see sex online than to see the Savior online but how do you blame no blame we have to aggressively deal with it it's easy to say to 14y Old cam just say no then it was to say the 24 year old cam the whole
what we we don't deal with we don't deal with a gospel for grownups so the church can say say no to People who ain't never had it or never going to get it or never going to get it but how I got to be able to teach it to somebody who is single for the second time at 40 and I'm used to sleeping with somebody every night it may not even be sexual I just don't like being in the bed by myself yes sir Elvis Presley uh said that he did did not necessarily like sex
he just hates sleeping alone and we don't deal with what those Dyamics are we don't deal with the dynamic that the fastest growing demographic of HIV in our community is black women who got it from down low men so we don't deal with bisexuality in the church we don't deal with adjusted sexuality for returning citizens who were functional homosexuals to get through jail but when they get out then they're Not a part of that lifestyle well one statistic I I can't quote it as accuracy but why is that our public leaders in Ministry yes when
you talk about just being honest about who do we go to yeah to find Christ or to have peace or to have hope for a better tomorrow Eddie Long the trials and the tribulations that came with Him TD Jakes The speculations and the tribulations of just the looming of Gossip yeah I got to pause you right there I got to pause you right there is the esteem of people for a clergy the expectation of people for clergy was on the rumor against Bishop Jake with no evidence I say it to you this way you talked
to Kirk Franklin you talked to Keon Henderson other people in the gospel there is not a white Preacher that could be on MTV and have their worship service on MTV or VH1 Bishop J is on Revol TV over 60 because the white kids on VH1 and MTV didn't need a father figure the black kids watching Revolt needed to see a father so the accusation was overwhelming to a demographic with no EV evidence because for many it was the closest they had to a father figure so What you said that Kirk said is that we are
not Christ we are not God but when you step into that father role then different level of expectation nobody dealt with this was P Diddy's Pastor not his party goer he went there to pray for the guy and left but nobody knew how to separate the chair from the wheat because there's a different level of expectation he had to fight through it in honor and dignity that I am Covering my member who happened at the time to own Revol TV and put my pastor and father figure on nobody dealt with that that he was evangelizing
a demographic that didn't go to T didn't go to church were not a part of the faith but did he put him in their house and say here is a father figure and now here we are 6 months later and no apologies you telling me all of the Diddy parties the only person y'all can Find there was Bishop Jake come on now you can't do that we we got to learn how we are are the only people who get it excited over a potential fall even when there's no Landing if they think you done fell
off then people are quick to abandon you and we got to learn how to not be Fairweather friends but to stand with him Bishop Jake is a honorable strong man of God who has made an impact in so many different Arenas uh but we don't Leave space to clear an accusation but to to that to clear an accusation to that point and I'm glad you said that I think for for the person in search of something yes when that person rightfully so or unrightfully so put on a pedestal yes and speak truth Speak Life yes
speak promise yes quoted by religion yes and I can't just speak about Christianity because they do it up on on on all different levels and when you are public about your message and You are also publicized by your downfalls yes it hurts yeah it hurts so when you go through what what you go through yes obviously being open about transgression yes uh infidelity and things like that how are we still supposed to follow with the intentions to say you know what yeah that the scripture there's a scripture says all have sinned MH falling short of
his glory we believe that scripture until it applies to our Pastor yes sir Bible says we sin daily by thought by word and by deed we believe that for everybody except for the leader your pastor is a candidate for Grace just like you are and regrettably you got to walk through that Grace process if I don't know when you turn 40 you come say A J I'm having something I want you to just come pray over for me cuz I'm turning 40 cam I'm coming I'mma pray I'mma leave now what y'all do after I leave
MH and it go down the police are called TMZ is here whatever the case yes sir but they say Jamal was there man now if I wasn't there but to pray I'm there 20 minutes yes sir that's how long he was at the ddy party was 20 minutes from that one picture might I add fully dressed might had is at the front door right then how am my shepherd in you cuz you want you at this stage of your life you want somebody who you can touch right Who you can relate to who can pasture
me I want to repent yes I want to repent and who can pasture me and see me through cigar smoke yes sir forget everything else let's just talk about cigar smoke cuz you got a lot of Pentecost who won't even come in this building mhm cuz I can't be in environment the Bible says Jesus was chastised for having dinner with prostitutes not for sleeping with Him he's ridiculed for hanging out with extremist magga supporters not for voting with them but for maintaining the the role of the Gospel is to be able to usher in the
gospel for people you don't have stuff in common with and the moment we stop doing that we're not the church we Country Club I got this question for you Pastor do you think in a position of leadership there is A unspoken power or there's an unspoken responsibility that it has to be to or marriage say say that again a person of leadership yes do they have to be married think about this yes I'mma answer you right the pope ain't never been married but the pope ain't supposedly yes ain't never had sex either right Jesus was
Married but there every every president that we known yes every coach that I ever known yeah that we highlight and support and you say d Prime ain't married but you know I know somebody going say prime a yeah but Senator rafhael War kno's not married but do you think lead the state of Georgia Senator Cory Booker is not married but do you think that affected yes his election he won but he won affected it how He won you're right come on now meet me in the middle I'm trying to meet you in the middle but
that's one I think I think you can manage single I think you can Excel married but I'll ask you this no stay right there don't don't go past that come on with it don't go past that yes sir yeah I I think that yes but that's what leads me to my question yes and he's not just Senator War not he pastors Mont Luther King Jr's Church yes sir so he's a pastor and a senator and he is the pastor of the most known black church in the world you don't say yeah now yes I'm asking
you this question yes as a man yes not a pastor yes how have you been able to manage dating terrible that's why I'm coming out the game I'm leaving it all to you and [Music] no don't pass that don't pass that to me I'm don't pass that to me no I'm telling You Lord I I did not do single well but how did you properly I didn't properly do it well okay well let me ask you this way yes how do you for those who are in the position of power or have access to a
lot yes to decipher if if a woman is truly for them and not what they can do for them yes I I think what it is we have this false notion of what do you bring to the table uh and I think that is really really looking For how how do you partner am I better because of you not do you dress better because of me m is is my thinking any sharper uh Barack Obama said he would have never been president had he not found Michelle can I play Devil's Advocate play it a lot
of people who are married that's what they supposed to say yeah and a lot of people who are single wish they could say it no yes cuz that's Where yes all right let me ask you this though yes let me ask you this I'm asking you as a man yes and even though you touched from the cloth and I have all respect in our me yes I got it your parents being married for 55 years yes do you think they've been happily married for 55 years I I think our understanding of happiness is perfection and
that our generation doesn't know how to work through the Process of arguments disagreements fallouts or seasons where we're growing in different direction the commitment is For Better or For Worse yeah so no every day ain't going to be happy every day y'all not going to see eye to eye but I love you enough to disagree with you sickness we give more grace to our children than we do to our spouse true so our children will disappoint us upset us we want to catch a charge but you Still with them the spouse there something I'm out
I can't deal with it because we don't like the pressure of uncomfortability and it let me say it let me say it to you let me say it to you listen to me K it is harder for you to fight for it when you have people who will donate it say it again I couldn't hear you cuz It was a motorcycle heard that was the devil heard no that wasn't the devil you heard it is harder to fight for it when you have people who will donate it did you hear it that time I heard
it loud and clear but understand this yes I'm asking for a friend yes is it a sin to have sex before marriage yeah we got the same Bible hm yes how do we avoid that or how can we make it like work with me Pastor yeah no I'm saying it is is working through Paul Say when I would do good evil stands in my way it is uh what like that's what my issue is with the church yes and it's personal it ain't got nothing yes we ain't talking about man Pastor how do I stay
sane yes when everything around me is insane yes I I'll say ude backwards I can't imagine where God would have taken me if I had sexual discipline I I am nowhere near the orbit of what my possibility was if I had Self-discipline my greatest enemy has been me not my ex not racism not the system mhm it's been me and once I have a full scope that I have become had become a terrorist of self- sabotage then I had to stop being a unibomber cuz I'm was blowing up my own stuff on people who I
knew I didn't want to be with And who wasn't even worth it come on now don't black out on me now no I'm just trying to you win somewhere come on stay with me okay cuz I I feel like we dwindling and I want to be respectful cuz I got you keep leaving me out here no I ain't yeah come on we in it together I got you yeah come on Hulk Hogan tag me in all right where in the Bible does it say you have to have one wife yeah is uh throughout the Epistles
of uh the New Testament most people uh Look at the uh Old Testament but come on you I'm coming I'm trying to drive come on come on Drive hanging out we are we are I'm trying to like why can't why can't a man or wi isn't it accepted for a Christian to have multiple wives yeah it is uh more cultural than it is scriptural wow but it's in the scripture yes I'm saying did not David have mult wise yes and concubines yes as well for those who don't know who concubines is That's THS well they
not thoughts because they were they had paperwork they had paperwork and they were recognized in public say that but that was but I'm saying for those who don't read the Bible I want you to understand that the concubine still lived at the house but the and the concubine wasn't a secret but the government yes made that issue see that's what that they don't understand for the people who are in other Religions you only can classify one yes right no matter what the but also David's son yes yeah was the wisest man some would say he
ain't wise because yes circumstan wise because he had all the women in his life yes and they they put him through a lot I'm not going to put you through I understand you had another brand sitting in this chair Lord J that's not me so I'm not going to I'm not going to put you through what my Cousin put you through I'mma let you go through it but to that point yes I did mention my fear of divorce yes I've been divorced 12 years okay and thought I would never marry again MH uh and then
I I came to a place where I was just uh and unfulfilled and it just became a headache uh to just be in that space you don't my I just got uh engaged in congratulations thank you um but is I have a different level of peace I have a Different heightened level of focus I ain't got to remember who I'm supposed to call back I ain't got to navigate my time schedule but that's you though that don't mean somebody else can't manage compartmentalize you know what I'm saying a a perplex schedule yeah but you've been
hemorrhaging yours in this blue chair no no no no talk about I'm talking about over the past couple of episodes you've been bleeding Out your your players's card is coming to an end in Las Vegas you have shifted to Atlantic City we judging no I'm not judging you I'm helping you as your brother you've been putting a whole lot on that blue chair yes Lord yeah that bandana been getting tighter every week we can't even find your Adams Apple no more it's gone we going through it what I like to say these kids keeping me
young they they they allowing me to shop More let's just put it there yeah no I got it but I'm saying you when you have that level of balance and comfort yes sir it's it's going to do something for you and I'm saying that to you on the other side now 50 everybody's journey is different yes sir and I'm saying to you I've been divorced for 12 years so I don't know when your Damascus Road experience is but you're going to come to a moment where you're going to say enough Will Chamberlain slept with 10,000
women and ended up alone reportedly reportedly yeah it's a lot of things that all reports that we don't heard about you Dr Brian yes are they true I wish they are not but you can't the the internet don't have an editorial board you're right my last question yes Pastor Jamal and it's been a plum pleasing pleasure No it's been mine I feel like we getting cut short but even when you think you going in in a in a sermon yes you still putting somebody to sleep we all awake right now you got us all up
my last question Pastor Brian is what do you want your legacy to be the legacy of my life will be the soundtrack of Donnie McClaren he fell down and got back up again that's going to be my legacy I received That anything else you got for me no you did it Pastor you did it I want to be obedient got to get you out of here I'm grateful for the time appreciate your time that's the most expensive thing you can get me that's all I got and I'm not trying to $30 for the picture I'mma
