of sacrifice also possible that moloch is Bal the chief deity the Canaanites this may be because both milcom and Molech mean great king or King in Hebrew and in that language share the first two letters of their name and slightly more far-fetched it could also be a reference to the ancient Mesopotamian goddess of the underworld whose name is eresh kigal it could also be none of those the filmmaker then of course makes several more claims about the origins of the rituals but I was unable to corroborate any of them
