[Music] Did you know that the Bible says that we are like little sheep cared for by Jesus, our Good Shepherd? Isn't that really cool? But does Jesus know them all, and care about each one?
The answer can only be yes! Hi, this is Aunt Anabelle. And today's story is about the little lost sheep, and it's there in the book of Luke in chapter [Music] 15.
But then do you know what time it is now? Story time ! In Jesus' time, many people stopped to listen to him speak.
There were people who were really interested in learning, but there were also those who didn't have a good heart. In fact, these bad people were just there observing Jesus' words and attitudes to try to find any error. Since they couldn't, they still spoke badly, even though Jesus had no defects.
This was the case with the Pharisees and the teachers of the law. Religious men who pretended to like God, but didn't like him at all. One day, seeing that several sinners were interested in Jesus' teaching, these Pharisees said : "This Jesus is really strange, look at how many sinners are around Him.
He even eats with these people. " When Jesus heard that, he decided to tell a parable, which is a kind of story, to make them understand why he helped everyone. And he said, "You think it's strange, because I'm going to tell you a story.
" Then Jesus continued: A long time ago, there was a very loving and careful shepherd. Every morning, he took his sheep to a beautiful field to eat fresh grass from the pasture, and drink clean water from the spring. He was very happy to see his little sheep all strong.
At the end of the afternoon he brought them all back, placing them in the corral, which is the place where the sheep sleep, and closed the door so that no wolves or ferocious animals could enter there and attack his sheep. He had 100 sheep in total and he knew each one by name. Just imagine!
Whenever he brought the sheep to the corral, he would count them to see if none were missing: one, two, three. . .
He would count until the last one passed, and he would close the door. One day, however, when he finished counting his sheep, he realized that one was missing, as there were only 99 sheep. And now?
This little sheep got distracted and wandered away from the flock and got lost. There was only one, but the pastor insisted on the one that was missing! Very worried, the shepherd left the 99 sheep tightly closed inside the corral and went out to look for the lost sheep.
After searching for a long time, he finally found the little sheep. She was very scared, so the pastor put her on his shoulders and took her home. The shepherd was so happy because he found his beloved sheep!
Arriving home, he gathered his friends and said: "Rejoice with me, because I have found the lost sheep! " Okay, everyone understood the story! But what did Jesus mean by all this?
And he explained: "For me, all people are equal and important, that's why I preach the word of God to all of them. In heaven there is more joy because of one lost sinner who repented, than because of 99 hard people with hearts who think they are too good to learn something from Me, and they don't want to repent. That's why I go after and value the lost sheep.
All the lives that want to walk with Me are very precious. This is how Jesus taught those Pharisees and men false what real love was. He cared about everyone, but not everyone wanted to believe in Him and follow Him.
And do you know what we learned from this little story? Jesus used the figure of a sheep shepherd to explain how we are like sheep, and he is our Good Shepherd. There in the book of John, Jesus said: I am the Good Shepherd, the Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
" When the Bible says that Jesus gave his life for his sheep, it is because if someone did not do this, all the sheep would be lost, as they would not be able to defend themselves. Without Jesus, our Shepherd, we are nothing, we are defenseless, we don't know where to go, what to do! But He always takes us to green pastures, defends us from thiefs, wolves and corrects us when necessary.
The joy that the shepherd felt when he found and brought his sheep to the corral is the same as the joy that God feels when he finds us. and brings us closer to Him. We were bought at too high a price to just hang around.
And you, do you want to be the Good Shepherd's little sheep? Our Jesus treats all of us as important people. You are very loved by Jesus, so the best thing we can do is choose to stay close to Jesus every day!
Let's pray? Jesus, Today I learned that you are the Good Shepherd. I want to be your sheep, I know you love me and care for me.
That's why I always want to be close to you! Thank you for treating me like an important person, I love you so much! amen.
