we can learn a lot about journaling from morami first of all he has a memoir that we can look at into in a different video but in this book one of the main characters is a writer and in it she discusses her thoughts on journaling and that obviously reflects mami's thoughts on journaling as well being one of his characters she says some really profound things and really interesting um ideas about writing when you're writing just for yourself so first she talks about about thinking and the act of writing and how they combined she says in
order for me to think about something I have to first put it into writing the most effective way to think through any thoughts that we have and maybe the only real way to go through how what you believe and what your thoughts are are through writing when I didn't understand something I gathered up the words and Scattered at my feet and line them up into sentences if that didn't help I scatter them again rearrange them in a different order repeat that a number of times and I was able to think about things like most people
she also writes about self reflection self-discovery she says on a day-to-day basis I use writing to figure out who I am I see now that my basic rule of thumb in writing has always been to write about things as if I didn't know them and this would include that things I did know or thought I knew about when you're approaching ideas and even self-reflections don't come into the writing with assumptions always approach the page as if you don't fully know the subject and this is your first time discovering and looking at it with new eyes
another sense she says here just writing I'm thinking allowed so there's no need to wrap things up neatly I have no moral obligations I'm merely H thinking making sure that we realize we're not writing for outside sources when we're doing this type of diaryjournal writing we're writing just for us there are no obligations on what we have to do what we could do and what we should do there is only the truth in the moment of what wants to be written whether it's literary or not I don't care I'm just The Keeper of the warehouse
amazing again not focusing on how poetic is this coming across how literary is it instead just I am a being that's housing ideas and the ideas are coming out through me I I am just the vessel this next one she talks about how you can have an intention when going into a writing practice but often times the result is much different than we thought it would go and it ends up taking us through new turns she writes what I've written here is a message to myself I toss it into the air like a boomerang it
slices through the dark lays the little soul of some poor kangaro Al colds and finally comes back to me but the boomerang that returns is not the same one I threw those are these are a few ways that the protagonist or one of the main characters in the book writes about her journaling process and her thoughts on writing for herself I thought maybe this would be useful it certainly was useful to me while reading it
