what if I told you that ADHD isn't the problem but that your approach is I know you'd probably tell me to get lost and I would understand ADHD can make your life infinitely harder studies show that we are way less likely to graduate high school or college twice as likely to be unemployed and because of that ear in up to $1.25 million less over our lifetimes than those without ADHD and so if you've lost hope I don't blame you life with ADHD can feel like fighting an uphill battle as soon as you wait W up
and before my diagnosis 7 years ago I felt the same but what have I told you that the problem isn't you that the main problem is that you grew up in a world where 95% of people don't have ADHD and expect you to be good at everything you see after I got diagnosed I started researching about how it's possible that successful people like inar cprad the founder of Ikea or David neilan the founder of Jet Blue were able to not only become immensely successful but also have fun doing it they had ADHD which I thought
was always supposed to weigh you down in life but after digging into it over the last 7 years and interviewing the biggest experts in the ADHD space I'm confident that I found what made them special and the best part the secret is already hiding inside each and every one of you you don't have to change anything about yourself the truth is there is one proven approach that top ADHD coaches psychiatrists and successful entrepreneurs consider consistently recommend to trigger a lasting optimal state of well-being for adhders this approach not only accelerates inner growth but also leads
to excelling in your career achieving financial success all while enjoying the journey using it I was not only able to grow my channel to millions of followers but also build up a successful business all while traveling the world fulltime and today for the first time I want to not only share this secret but show you exactly how to implement it into your life following a simple three-step process this is my most comprehensive video to date on how to turn ADHD into your advantage you will hear from voices like Dr Dale Archer the author of ADHD
Advantage I think the whole key to ADHD is you can literally change everything as well as the world's number one leading Authority on ADHD Dr hell and that should be your career and at the end I'll even share a free test that high-end coaches charging $11,000 a month give to their clients before beginning their work together this test is the essential starting point you need to launch into a new chapter of your life it's designed to provide Clarity and Direction laying the foundation for everything that follows I'm sharing it with you for free because I
want you to start thriving right away so let's Dive Right In step one after becoming self-aware about how ADHD leads to a completely different way of seeing the world I learned that the reason why I excelled in subjects I loved like sports and completely wasted away in subjects I hated did like art sorry Miss karstein was that it's always a lot more difficult to force willpower and motivation when you have ADHD if you've been watching the channel a while you'll know that it either comes naturally or often not at all due to our dopamine disregulation
which is the neurotransmitter that controls it all this leads us to having what researchers call a spiky profile we have peaks in skills and talents but also have big dips that can impact our ability to showcase our talents or as Dale Archer explain it you're on a boat in the middle of an ocean with huge waves and you're trying to row this boat whereas the average person is rowing their boat across a smooth L and after analyzing all of these successful people with ADHD I found that they all undoubtedly had one thing in common they
weren't trying to row against the waves instead they moved their boats to smoother Waters have an easier time rowing in other words rather than trying to improve on their weaknesses they knew to focus on playing to their strengths to turn ADHD into their advantage I know you may now be thinking strengths what's that well the truth is ADHD is way more than just being impulsive or inattentive it actually leads to seeing things differently which unlocks a whole array of rare strengths and here's what changed everything for me while with ADHD our interests change every 3
weeks causing us to move on to something else research shows that our signature strengths stay surprisingly stable over time and so there they are not just good to know but also finally something we can rely on and as I read into this more it just made complete sense all these famous artists Justin Timber Lake jordal Lucas Lily Allen they're able to create new albums new types of music but the one thing that stays the same is their strength of creativity Richard Branson created over 400 companies in various Industries but the one thing that stays the
same is the strength of risk-taking and these are just two strengths so often associated with ADHD but while all of this may sound obvious just focus on your strengths it turns out that 2third of people are unaware of their strengths entirely and that only a third of employees feel they have the opportunity to do what they do best every day which explains why Modern Life is often a slow and painful mental death for every ADHD year because it can feel like needing to bench press a new Max every hour of every day again The Willpower
we need to engage in things that don't come naturally to us is immense it's a huge mental effort and so you become stuck in the cycle where you come home and need to charge up your drenched brain by chasing dopamine without guilt or shame you stay up too late binge movies and food and in general do things that you'll probably regret come morning which all leads to a dark spiral difficult to break out of and it all starts with this notion that forcing ourselves through our days is the right approach just get through through it
you got this push through but as you know it's when we aren't able to work on our strengths every day that we quickly lose ourselves and it all changes by following the actual right approach of following your signature strengths and research proves this it shows that workers who are merely highly aware of their strengths are nine times more likely to live a happy and fulfilled life and those who get to express their strengths are 18 times more likely to flourish longterm flourish meaning living a good life and if you have ADHD you're not only able
to change your life when using your strengths you actually have an unfair Advantage when it comes to Performance because of your hyperfocus you can work for days on something you love thanks to dopamine flooding your brain this regulation works both ways but I know what you're thinking I don't know what my strengths are and even if I've tried so much already how can this be the ultimate solution and I hear you the free test I'll share at the end of this video will give you an exact representation of your signature strengths which will be the
first step but even then we need to understand that it can be painful living in a world where 95% of people are able to force themselves to do things where it's more or less the norm it often leads to you shaming yourself for not being able to do it even if you aren't realizing it but we have to break out of this mold if you have ADHD more often than not you're trying to fit a square peg in a round hole it just won't work instead you need to become self-aware of the things you can
do the mere ability to be able to look at yourself and say you know what I'm not weird I'm just different I learn different I perform different my brain works different that's not a bad thing there's nothing wrong with that I know it I know what I can do just the knowledge that you do have some Advantage from what you see as a diagnosis is immensely empowering it changes the entire Dynamic of what you think about yourself and if you can change what you think about yourself you can literally change everything the first step is
to find out what your strengths are I'll share the full free test at the end of this video but a quick way to go about it will be to ask yourself what you're able to hyperfocus on what do you completely lose yourself in and following that path but it's not enough to just know your strengths because they're still only up here we need to get them out of our heads which leads us to step two to flourish in life and to start using your strengths can feel scary it can feel weird to stand up for
what you're good at if you've been taught to just push through your entire life and so it's important to not only familiarize yourself with your strengths but also to make engaging in them more comfortable and and natural you'll want to connect to them as often as possible we often forget what we don't see and so hanging your main strengths on your wall is a GameChanger research shows that the best way to start living an optimal life full of well-being and happiness is to use these main strengths in new ways every day this is where the
lasting benefits occur the group of this study that focus on using signature strengths in new ways which by the way signature strengths are the top five strengths of the test our share reported significant increases in happiness and decreases in depression for effects lasting up to six months and to do this it's not even necessary to change your environment for example if one of your signature strengths is creativity it can be as simple as turning an inanimate object like a paperclip or toothpick into something meaningful while this may sound silly doing things like this intentionally is
the first step to realize that you have these strengths which makes them more accessible throughout your days it literally changes the game from you can't do that to yeah but I can do this it's easier to achieve goals when they align with who you are and so the second step is to take practical action to get comfortable with your new found strengths which leads me to the last and probably most important step after you know your strengths and have gotten a feeling for them what can you not do with that how can this lead to
a life of more wealth how can this lead to a life of more fulfillment well before we get into those questions let's take a look at this graph can you guess what it represents that's right it's the amount of time you spend with your co-workers in other words a significant chunk of your life is spent at work which means that we need to find a way to turn ADHD into our advantage during this time and when I talk to Dr hell here's what he told me it all begins with understanding so you want to take
stock of who you are and what you're good at and what you're bad at and then how can you develop it write down the all the things that you really love to do then take another Circle and write down all the things that you're really good at doing and now see where those two circles overlap and among the things where they overlap which of those will someone pay you to do and that should be your career and so combining interests with strengths and earning potential will give you the highest chance of success makes sense but
then Dr Archer mentioned that I think the wholey to ADHD is you're given a set of traits to work with if you choose use these traits and even more importantly choose a career which Embraces these traits that can lead to success so for example if you're an ADHD you don't want to be an accountant doing spreadsheets day in and day out for your career if you're a lawyer you don't want to be writing contracts you want to be doing court cases in trial Dale is talking about the fact that your environment needs to be fast-paced
and Ever Changing for it to fit your ADHD brain roles that require quick decision- making and multitasking environments where high energy and adaptability are assets such as in healthare sales or hospitality and that's true we can't forget about our environment it plays a huge role in enabling or disabling ADHD becoming your advantage your brain needs variety tasks that are diverse engaging and dynamic opportunities to switch activities to prevent boredom like an event planning journalism or Emergency Services you'll want to have chances for creativity and Innovation roles that allow for outof the-box thinking and problem solving
freedom to explore new ideas and approaches such as in design marketing or entrepreneurship people with ADHD are five times more likely to start a business physical activity or movement are also game changers such as in personal training or outdoor work having structured support systems can also be essential jobs with clear expectations and achievable goals supportive environments that encourage communication and growth such as in mentoring or coaching and most importantly you'll want an environment that gives you short deadlines and immediate feedback rols with quick turnarounds that keep motivation High opportunities for frequent feedback to adjust and
improve such as in content creation project management or software development especially in today's fast-paced world it's never been more important to have a neurodiverse Workforce and employers are slowly waking up to this why well what are all organizations going through at the moment change what do organizations need in times of change creativity problem solvers and change agents what do teams and customers need in times of change empathetic and positive team members and leaders and here's the most important message of this video if you're young new to the workforce you must use this information to craft
a life that will allow you to flourish this is your time if you don't feel like your job is hitting the markers that you need if you don't think it plays to your signature strengths try another one and another one and another one and eventually you will find what you love now if you're looking back at that list and you're thinking to yourself great I chose the wrong career here's a message from Dale Archer I mean if you're struggling to make your house not you got two kids and you've got to feed them and and
you've got a job that pays your bills um and you realize that you know what you're not a fit there what I mean really what can you do so it it's it's hard and often times in cases like that my advice is look there's some things you just have to get through but your time will come I mean your kids will grow up they're going to go out and you can always remember and keep this in mind that you don't have to keep that job forever there will come a point when your house is paid
off car is paid off and kids are grown and it's never too late I didn't I didn't discover mine until I was you know 50 years old late 40s so it's never too late also it's never too late to try and incorporate these characteristics into your existing job you know maybe there's a way that you can structure your job so that instead of sitting down and doing an eight hour straight of work you can take a break every hour for five minutes and just go walk around the block I mean there are like simple things
maybe you can volunteer for new projects at your job that would require thinking outside the box and even though it may be a little more work you could serendipitously find something that you absolutely love in the job that you are currently yet you don't have to change everything you can ask for accommodations which is not just in your interest research shows that flexible accommodations for adhders can improve job performance by 20 to 60% send that statistic to your employer but I get it it can easily feel overwhelming looking back at all the information I've shared
it's it's a lot which is why it's important to take it step by step if you're struggling with Focus motivation or ADHD paralysis just not being able to get things done that are important to you I highly recommend watching my free video on how to unlock endless focus without medication discipline or willpower I use this science back method every day and it's changed thousands of lives already just click here or in the description below to watch it now watch this video first before trying to engage in strengths however if you feel ready to unlock an
optimal state of well-being you can go to viac character.org and do the free signature strength test and take it from there stay inspired and I'll see you in the next one
