all right in this section we'll be covering a short little chapter in the playing card Oracle's but a really important little section pages 119 through 123 the significance of card positions this is the section of the workshop where you'll really see how powerful this little unassuming four card spread is this is the landscape of your reading we're gonna really look at this through the perspective of the elements and if you can just picture here a little landscape on your screen where the bottom card is the Spade card where it says earth we're gonna imagine a
a lush lush field right that's at the bottom of our landscape picture then nestled within that lush field will be the next card up let's say a beautiful lake right water held within the earth and then the next card up imagine a beautiful sky right a beautiful blue sky where the air card is and then at the top of our landscape picture where the card in the fire element rests we see a beautiful sun shining down on the the elements below and this is the way that the elements naturally arrange themselves because earth is the
heaviest element water is the next heaviest and then we get more and more levitational as we move toward the top of the spread so we let gravity dictate the position of the elements also on the screen you'll see there's a body part associated with each of the four card positions the head is at the top the throat in the air position the torso the water position the feet at the bottom so that's another way to look at your card spread but what we're looking at here is the natural position for each one of these elements
or suits and the qualities of fire for example or the diamond qualities dictate how we read the card that appears in the top position the qualities of air and the club suit dictate how we will interpret the card in the second position and so forth so we'll get to that in in the next slides here you'll see how these work but the landscape idea is a way to help you remember which elements relate to which position so let's go position by position the diamond position the top position relates to the attitude of your reading right
so we ask a question in a card reading we lay four cards out and the card that appears in the top position is going to communicate the general consciousness of the situation right my dad used to call it the top dog in the layout it has a lot of importance just because it's in the top position it's like the pack leader of all the cards so no matter what card shows up in the top position it's going to have that kind of influence over the spread just like the Sun in the sky right think again
of our landscape if it's a beautiful sunny day that's gonna influence everything that happens that day right or if it's a partly cloudy sky if it's a card that's a little darker right maybe a black card that's going to be like having a cloudy day in a sense it determines the disposition the consciousness the attitude of the reading another thing about cards in this position when you well I'll get into that in a minute we'll save that for the end okay so let's take a look at a clip from the video in the calendar exercise
portion of the workshop this was a little spread we did where we can altered the weeks we got our date and time and then we had this four card spread here in this example we have the three of Hearts in the diamond position of the spread and that indicates the overall attitude of the answer to our question right so so let's say the question was something like you know I'm looking for the perfect job what do I need to know just a quick easy question so right away we see that this person is a bit
torn right this is the clutch if you recall the three of hearts it's torn affections so there might be different things pulling this person in different directions and it's the overall mood or sort of theme of this person's job search right there maybe spreading themselves out sort of thinly over different possibilities and because it's in that top position it has that kind of dominating influence whereas the cards below it are going to get into other kind of specifics so let's take a look at the next card to position the club position the second position in
our four card Tower is the thinking and talking of the situation the thinking and talking it's the position in the four card spread that corresponds with the throat right so the the influences that come in through the top position of the spread the diamond position become thoughts and words when it comes to the club position so whereas the diamond position card was like pure consciousness this is where we take that consciousness and we interpret it into words and the ways that we communicate with people so let's look at an example here okay same example throat
position card or Club position card we have the Jack of Diamonds a very outgoing kind of character so this person is a little bit of a showy spokesperson right we see this showman here dango he's charismatic and in this position this could be like a lawyer or somebody who's like a salesperson somebody who who's speaks confidently and a little bit cocky right so this is the way this person communicates and thinks very confidently and the heart position the third position look to this card to see what the person is feeling right can be any card
in the 52 deck showing up in the feeling position of the spread right so let's take a look at our example again in this little layout we have the ace of diamonds remember the key words for this card I will so there's a very strong drive that is at the heart of this matter and a lot of unexpressed ambition that is at the heart of this matter and so that also would define the job search for this person there's something really big that this person wants and desires to accomplish and we see also in this
picture of this four card layout because the ace of diamonds and the Jack of Diamonds are in the same suit they're really plugging into each other's energy ace has that ability if you read the description of the Aces but now we're going into a little bit of a side topic let's look at the fourth position the Spade position look to this card to see what the practical experience of the situation is what's happening in reality what's the day-to-day experience of this person so let's look back at our cards we have the jack of spades in
the spade position he communicates hard work so this person could expect to work really hard and whatever job that they're looking at and there's a lot of loyalty in the jack of spades he does things without questioning loyalty first and hard work and so this is also interesting when you have a card that is in its home position do you know what I'm saying this jack of spades in the fourth position here is in the spade position that the Spade position of the spread right he's dignified he's in his home position that makes him extra
comfortable it gives him strength and it gives him more power in the spread any card that's operating from their natural position ace 3 of Hearts wasn't in its natural position Jack of Diamonds wasn't ace of diamonds wasn't but the jack of spades is in the spade position of the layout and that gives him more power let's look at another for card spread and see how we would view it from the card positions so let's go position by position like we did with the last spread top position the diamond position of the spread or the head
of the spread we see the aid of spades remember the eight of Spades is called the field of stones and it represents difficulties and impasse and that's like the Sun that's shining over this little landscape so this can represent a dark attitude someone who's not seeing the bright side of things it's like remember in the old cartoon when there was always the cloud hanging over a or in the Winnie the Pooh cartoons this is like the cloud that follows this person around wherever they go we all know somebody like that and then the ten of
Hearts this is Alegre in the speaking position the throat position of the spread right if so this person is speaking their passions their that Allegra's that character that is sort of blinded by her passions right so this person is kind of a romantic talker you know and then the King of Hearts big heart card writes the Kings the utmost heart card in the position of Hearts right this is the heart position of the spread it's the heart of the and here we have a heart card and a big heart card so this king is in
his home position he's dignified by that position it gives him more strength in the spread so this cup person has a tendency to be really super heart centered really dramatic about their feelings right because they're speaking their feelings we have two heart cards together there and yet they're sort of melancholy right with that eight of Spades at the top then we go to the King of Spades at the bottom here we have another card in its home position King of Spades in the spade position of the spread this gives him more power more dominance more
influence this person is also a very hard worker although more of a boss figure being the King of Spades than in the last slide right let's refresh our memory the last slide that Jack was in the Spade position he's more of a worker lower guy on the totem pole the King more in charge maybe you know in charge of a department or at least a manager if not you know the head of the company and [Music] so so I like that the King of Spades and the King of Hearts are together here do you remember
way back when we talked about the magic of three and the introduction to the suits we talked about compatible suits and hearts and spades are compatible suits so these King [Music] their Energy's very naturally complement each other and work in harmony with each other it's like that landscape we talked about with the earth sort of nestling or holding the lake within it that's the earth with the water card because these two are in their home positions there there's a lot of harmony happening here and so together these two figures make one better person you know
most of the time quartz will show up as individual people in your life so I wouldn't be surprised to find for this person there's two male figures who are working together to make something better they're really complementing each other and getting along together just kind of exceptional for two King figures right Kings can be territorial but this is an exceptional condition here where they're really coming together to complement each other and the King of Spades can be kind of cold-hearted remember Mardock an intimidating character Murdoch the heartless and King nikka Maia kind of the party
King but together because they're in complementary suit and they're in their home positions we have some good things happening so this person is I I think there's kind of a poetic soul happening inside this person that has this cloud of doom hanging over them you know maybe they're not seeing the bright side of things right with that heat of spades at the top there's a very soft tender poetic soul inside this person so it also represents the client you know and if this question was about a job search this person would need to be head
head of the company it just wouldn't work to be you know a menial kind of employee probably a big company and would be a very hard worker as well with two Spade cards in there so and also with heart would be a good boss to have hard-working with heart so that's that's it for the four card positions read up in the book pages 119 through 123 and if another aspect of this is that's mentioned in the book is if you can determine which card position in your layout relates most closely to your question that is
a great way to crack the spread open in our example we talked about a question related to the job well job is one of the areas in the domain of the Spades again if you look back at the magic of three video or the section in the book on the suits the four individual suits at the beginning of the book you'll see that job and career is naturally ruled by the Spade suit so it's very natural to look to the spade position to see cards specific to the question right what is this person doing on
a daily basis what's this person's job those are all things you would look to the fourth position for so in this instance you know your answer is essentially held in the king of spades okay the question was about love I'd be looking at which position do you know the heart position right let's say this this spread on the screen came up and it was a question about love instead of work we could say Wow right king of hearts jackpot person's like for sure really very heart involved in this question in the biggest way like the
ultimate heart investment in this question and but also a very practical guy because the king of hearts is linked with the king of spades there so he's gonna express his love in practical ways you know he's not just words what if the question was about money you know I'm worried about my money well this person should be worried about their money if that's their concern what card is in the money position of this spread do you remember which suit is associated with money diamonds and what do we have there the field of stones the impasse
and there are no diamond cards in this layout that's not looking good for money we got love and hard work that's what we have and if you had a club question like you know I'm I'm not having good communication with my my teenage child or I've got a law problem you know I'm being sued by some those are communication type of questions most questions are not directly related to the second card position or they don't address it as specifically as some of the other more frequent questions and yet communication is vital to all questions right
so for example in a question of love we talked about the king of hearts being a central card right because he's in the heart position but he's also speaking very tenderly with allegra there in the throat position he's very romantic the way he talks you know so even though my question about love wasn't directed specifically at the club position card I still can include it in my reading it's what you're thinking think about that that's gigantic right it's what you're thinking and putting into words and that's so important but not something people necessarily think to
ask about in their questions so the four card spread as I mentioned is just a very rich field to draw from for your questions you know you'll find endless fascination in this and we'll play with this spread some more so I'll I'm not sure what exercises I'm going to assign yet for this video so I'll make some notes underneath this video so make sure to read that and I'll for sure make a quiz for this and do some for card spreads on your own start journaling start writing things down this takes practice and you can
look at it as a little person you know what the head throat torso and feet you can look at it as the four different areas of life you know mind body emotion and spirit all of those different ways can help shed light on the four cards you
