fell into temptation when he saw bath Sheeba his story in the Bible reminds us that no one is immune to this struggle no matter how strong their faith may be but what does the bible tell us about overcoming lust one of the most straightforward passages is found in 1 Corinthians 10:13 no temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind and God is faithful he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear but when you are tempted he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it this gives

us hope lust may be powerful but God is more powerful he promises that we are never left to fight alone he always provides a way out in today's world Temptations are everywhere the internet social media and entertainment often encourage impure thoughts and desires but the Bible offers clear strategy IES for combating these Temptations the first strategy is simple but profound guard your eyes and mind Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 anyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery in his heart lust starts in the mind so we must be careful about

what we expose ourselves to what are you allowing into your life that feeds temptation is it a TV show a website or even certain conversations Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:29 to be radical in removing anything that leads us into sin if your right eye causes you to sin gouge it out and throw it away he's not speaking literally but stressing that we must be serious about cutting out things that lead us astray the second strategy is to renew your mind daily with God's word Romans 12:2 says do not conform to the pattern of this

world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind lust begins in the mind and the best way to combat it is to fill our minds with Godly thoughts when we saturate ourselves with scripture prayer and godly wisdom there's less room for lust to take hold one practical way to renew your mind is to read and meditate on scripture daily memorize verses that encourage Purity like Philippians 4:8 whatever is true whatever is Noble whatever is right whatever is pure think about such things when we intentionally focus on things that are holy we weaken lust's power

over us a third often overlooked strategy is the power of kind accountability and Community James 5:116 urges us confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed we are not meant to fight these battles alone find a trusted friend Mentor or pastor with whom you can be open and honest about your struggles someone who will pray with you and keep you accountable in today's world this might look like joining a small group connecting with your church or even using accountability tools to guard against online Temptations the enemy

wants to isolate us in our sin but God calls us into Fellowship where we can find healing and strength let's bring this closer to home maybe you're single and wrestling with impure thoughts or perhaps you're in a relationship where boundaries are being tested these biblical strategies apply to all of us if you're single this is a perfect time to grow deeper in your relationship with Christ use this time to develop self-control and spiritual maturity that will serve you well in all areas of life for those in relationships keep Christ at the center of your connection

pray together set healthy boundaries and openly discuss the importance of Purity remember physical intimacy is a beautiful gift from God but it's designed for the boundaries of marriage Hebrews 13:4 tells us let marriage be held hel in honor among all and let the marriage bed be undefiled as we draw to a close remember this overcoming lust is not just about avoiding sin it's about pursuing Holiness it's about becoming more like Christ each day and allowing his Spirit to renew and transform our hearts lust may be a fierce battle but with God's help it's a battle
