this is the mass effect chronology in 3 minutes let's begin a powerful race the leviathans build an AI called The Catalyst whose key task is to find a way to preserve organic Life The Catalyst betrays the leviathans and Slaughters them to use their genetic DNA to create Harbinger the first Reaper reapers are powerful synthetic organisms the leviathans go into hiding to escape their demise the Reapers assimilate sentient life turning them into Reapers destroying everything else then they go into hiding the Galaxy evolves sentient life Returns the Reapers come back assimilate and Destroy go into hiding
the Galaxy evolves sentient life Reapers return and the cycle goes on and on and on to speed up the process Reapers leave behind technology to help species Advance faster during one cycle the Reapers decide to enslave a species instead of assimilate them the enslaved protheans become the collectors everything is destroyed Cycles continue one species discover prothean and Reaper technology they Advance quickly and formed the galactic government whose central location is a giant piece of Reaper technology called The Citadel The Citadel is a device Reapers use to return to the Galaxy but the galactic government doesn't
know that humans discover prothean technology on Mars and use it for faster than light speed travel after a quick war with the Turan the humans are welcomed into the galactic community and participation in the galactic government the multispecies intermingled existence continues for some time until the Reapers decide that it's time to commence Mass multispecies genocide once more a Reaper ship called Sovereign manipulates a race of synthetic organisms called the G The Sovereign and the g invade the Citadel to bring forth the Armada of Reapers lying in weight Commander shephard a human military officer leads the
attack to stop Sovereign and its G allies Shephard and his allies prevent the reaper Invasion but this does not stop the Reapers entirely unable to utilize The Sovereign and Citadel they'll have to travel there the old-fashioned way it's going to take a lot longer and The Invasion will be less organized while Shephard continues his duty as a military officer the collectors attack and kill Shephard over the span of the next 2 years the collectors abduct human colonies Shepherd is revived by a person known as The elusive man a billionaire who tasks him with serving Humanity
Shephard through his investigation of the human disappearances locates The Collector base shepher travels there and eliminates them time passes the Reapers finally arrive and start attacking earth The Invasion is far less organized than previous cycle invasions Shephard uses this extra time to find an ancient alien design for a super weapon called The Crucible this weapon has the potential to give an edge in the fight against the Reapers shepher creates a Ian es between the different races and governments GA in Armada to fight against the Reapers Shephard leads the final attack and in the confrontation has
some major decisions to make the reaper threat is extinguished for good there are a lot of endings that range from Earth being destroyed to Earth flourishing and from Shepherd or his team dying or thriving not sure which if any will be Cannon but the one we like the most Shepherd sacrifices himself for synthesis a process by which organic and synthetic life forms are connected they form a new understanding between the two allowing them to live in harmony since the purpose of the Reapers was to eradicate organic life the reaper cycle likely stopped since the distinction
