the whole world and especially Instagram makes you think you should be better do more be more have more and then you'll be happy but what if this approach is wrong in my experience life responds to courage most of all and the rest of self-improvement is usually just masturbation and disguise here's why I felt sorry for guys packed into gyms trying to look like how Calvin Klein or Tommy Hilfiger said they should that what a man looks like ah self-improvement is masturbation now self-destruction excuse me so just destroy your life eh spit on everyone and go
die in a gutter is that the heights of philosophical wisdom well not quite I think Tyler deran in the scene from Fight Club meant self-destruction in the nichan sense of going under letting go and facing the danger hardships that you have been avoiding destroying the identity and beliefs that are limiting you without the courage to shed your skin you will constantly be suffocated by who you were while trying to improve your life you cannot reach the promised land without the courage to sail over the horizon and lose sight of the shore courage is what invigorates
us and builds our testosterone being dangerous is what makes us feel alive only the courageous Dow goers can truly transform themselves and become something new and this idea was at the center of Tyler Duran's and nich's philosophy quote what is great in man is that he is a bridge and not a goal what is lovable in man is that he is an overgo and a downgoing I love those who know not how to live except as Dow goers for they are the overgo N downgoing is one of the most important Concepts in Thus Spoke zaratustra
and ESS cenal to all of n's philosophy and yet almost no one talks about this Dow goers are those who willingly face the unpleasant and difficult seasons of Life they offer their current s up as a Living Sacrifice and face the discomfort of change zarathustra the Fearless Sage embarked on many Great downgoing And Thus Spoke zarathustra where he descended into the world of muuk and man and shared his message of the Overman or Uber MCH to paraphrase him only those who are down goers can give birth to the Overman only those who cheerfully descend can
be free and become something more this is an interesting bit of counterintuitive wisdom most of us need to hear as far as I'm concerned only n and Tyler deran called it out you don't need to be better you need to be more dangerous and your life will naturally fall into place going under is how you go over all your self-improvement and philosophy is [ __ ] without downgoing so let's talk about it the general population constantly tries to fix what is broken life self-improver also constantly try to fix what is broken themselves everyone and I
mean everyone is trying to improve life the best they can and get what they want the problem is 99% of people are dead wrong oh I need more money and relationships and to eat better and start doing yoga and Ice baths [ __ ] ice baths that's what's going to make my life awesome that's what I was missing n called BS on this in reality most of our wants are just a cope we are terribly good at lying to ourselves and avoiding the truth for instance many of you keep scrolling educational or personal development videos
on YouTube because you're avoiding an action you need to take some people's entire life is a coping mechanism to deal with the dumpster fire that is their relationships and still others glorify being alone when in reality they're too scared to approach girls humans are great at rationalizing their actions as virtuous when in reality fear we weakness and Conformity are secretly ruling them to illustrate this point imagine Two Towers one represents your current life and the other represents your highest life here's you standing in your current shabby Tower here's your disciplined floor and maybe it's pretty
good here's your balcony of dreams and your Sex Dungeon of addictions and your mediocre relationships and everything else here's the scaffolding of personal development philosophy Pleasures happiness and all the coping mechanisms you have under your Tower is a sea of fear death and unknown dangers over there across the sea is the tower you actually want it is filled with Vitality greatness Harmony and freedom to get to the beautiful Tower you must face the monsters in your basement your addictions and fears and attachments that keep you stuck inside you must learn to follow your heart boldly
and shed your skin this requires courage Above All In fact all true transformation comes from Courage and unless courage is at the center of your personal ethos you will lie to yourself and make rationalizations your whole lifelong oh I did a cold plunge today great but you still didn't put in any consistent work on building your dreams and you didn't have that hard conversation that's actually going to change your life Improvement brings diminishing marginal returns for instance if you've never gone to the gym before going to the gym can radically change your life but the
impact on your overall physical and mental health slowly plateaus and no longer increases anymore and this is what happens with Improvement on all levels eventually the Tower of our life hits a ceiling where it can go no higher and can be made no more beautiful and at this point it's no longer about looking up but instead looking down the treasure you truly seek is inside the cave you fear to enter it's not about how much more you can improve but how much TR truth and fear you can face radical personal change comes from this descent
and trust me it is always the descent into change that we avoid most rigidly but for men of courage and Faith downgoing are what make the heart explode with new power and that is all we want at the deepest level not a satisfied ego but an overflowing heart the ego projects all these wants and needs but only the heart is the true Compass to n Dow goers are most r most of us are consciously or unconsciously refusing the truth in our hearts we keep addictions and bad relationships around because to sacrifice them would be unpleasant
or heartbreaking we avoid resistances and hardships and satisfy ourselves with distractions and make believe achievements fear dictates our lives from the shadows and keeps us focused on the scaffolding rather than on the tower of true Victory let me repeat that in a new way fear Keeps Us focused on the scaffolding on the minutia of the deep details rather than on the path to True Victory when you are ruled by fear and stagnation everything becomes a cope for not facing your downo only when we descend into the darkness and pursue the dangerous but exciting path will

video part two following your heart Charles bukowsky the Great American poet once said stop insisting on clearing your head clear your [ __ ] heart instead maybe you want more peace and spiritual growth admirable but instead of trying to meditate more first look into the fear that is keeping you stuck what is your heart telling you people constantly disobey their heart and as a result their mind is chaotic and life is dull these people try to fix themselves or even worse Escape themselves instead of sacrificing themselves this is like constantly trying to repair a tower
that is broken at the base you must be willing to die in some way if you wish to be reborn otherwise you are just a snake trying to grow within too small of a skin and soon you will suffocate downgoing is the secret you must sacrifice yourself to your heart and more specifically to the great longing in your heart if you wish to truly transform into something more n said he loved the higher types who lived their whole lives as a downgoing as a sacrifice to the gods to the Overman and to their highest form
instead of seeking comfort and security and Lasting happiness which is only stagnation in reality downg goers live on the constant path of becoming the concept of downgoing applies equally to love work Health spirituality and almost all domains of life the easiest example though is relationships most people are in relationships that suck and that's because leaving a long-term relationship that hasn't been working is wicked painful I know leaving my four year relationship took immense courage and brought about terrible suffering for months but that pain liberated me into a vibrant New Life starting a relationship putting in
the work to fix a relationship or leaving a relationship could all be seen as a downgoing the same could be said for work leaving a job that you hate to pursue something your heart calls you into would bring about immense change but also expansion the bottom line is down goinging is about facing the dangerous path you intuitively know you need to take most of us are denying our true path without even realizing it we deny the innocent impulses of our hearts the impulse of creation and victory and freedom and growth we have built a tower
that needs to fall and yet we stay inside it and concern ourselves with Petty Trifles while limping through life on our crutches why why do we sacrifice the Great Adventure of Our Lives mainly because following the heart is dangerous it is dangerous because it will show you the truth and sometimes truth demands change contrary to popular opinion following your heart isn't easy every Guru and Instagram influencer out there constantly preach follow your heart but what the hell does that mean to me it means following your joy and following your fear both require courage because the
heart rarely presents the safe easy and rational path but more so just vague feelings and intuition in fact the heart will lead you toward where you have the most resistance excitement doubt and fear for instance leaving College to pursue my own path and start a YouTube channel many years ago was Bonkers but undeniably thrilling leaving the love of my life after years of stress was so damn excruciating yet a relief writing a book was a hellish battle with resistance and doubt every single day for two years that no one could understand unless you do it
leaving behind the addictions that ruled my adult life was terrifying I didn't know how to function without my crutches all of these events created enormous downgoing in the nitian sense a season of pain and hardship and loss but my heart demanded each Act of Courage for some unknown reason to do otherwise only made my life worse and more miserable a season of transformation is always indicated by a turmoil heart and let me be clear the heart will lead you through hell but that's how you reach heaven this sentiment is an echo of some of my
favorite excerpts of my book quote this is the secret of rebirth when the heart starts singing stop thinking and follow it the mind can deceive you in every way imaginable but the heart doesn't know how to lie the heart is the compass when the heart is pained it also Whispers of the way the hard times of grief and suffering come to help you attune to your heart use them part three starting with another nche quote I love him who has a free spirit and a free heart thus his head is only the guts of his
heart his heart however causes his down goings n thus his head is only the guts of his heart I love this line so much let's break that down and get a bit more philosophical when you work to free your heart and spirit and follow them sincerely your mind clears itself out the ego becomes a vehicle of your deeper nature and Truth your thoughts fill with the courageous impulses of your heart but the heart holds dangerous truths parts of your psyche yet to be revealed the heart causes your downgoing because it demands you shed your skin
and offer up a sacrifice it demands you sacrifice what is comfortable but stagnant for what is unknown and exciting nature proclaimed himself an initiate of dianis and dionis to him was the secret genius or Damon of the heart dionis was the god of becoming the primordial force that inspires growth and transformation and ecstasy dionisis is the initiator god and personal initiation always starts with Severance and descent descent into the fruitful darkness and there in the darkness and pain is where the wild ecstatic and innocent energies start to emerge n claimed to love those who live
their entire lives is great downgoing instead of pursuing the easy and pleasurable life that traps most people downg goers choose to pursue their highest Victory even if it means facing great fear Dow goers give themselves entirely over to the courageous impulses of their heart and in doing so they learn to live beyond themselves and from n's perspective in my own experience this art of downgoing and overgo is the most joyful experience of life what I've learned is that you can't really overcome yourself and flourish until you're willing to let go and shed your own skin
