[Music] let's talk data products and let's talk about a data product Pathfinder our Pathfinder approach is a process that we work with with our customers it's a quick way to get started whether you're just starting to build that very first data product or you've been building data products a different way maybe you've been doing it the old way the way I did it 5 years ago and we are moving data into a warehouse and building data model and maybe that's no longer at the right cost point maybe that's not as efficient as we'd like it
to be and so you're looking for a better way to do it you're looking for a modern way to do it and you want to try something new the data product Pathfinder is an approach to get anyone started this Pathfinder is focused on three key principles first principle is all about leveraging the current ecosystem super important if we're building data products and I acknowledge that I'm going to need data from a lot of different places I don't have the time to move that data what I want to do if I can is leverage that data
in the lake that data is across clouds I want to leverage that data in the cloud that it sits in if the data is on Prem I want to touch that data on Prem I need to be able to access that data today wherever it sits I want to limit big architectural shifts I want to get started leverage existing ecosystem also points to leveraging existing processes I have governance processes I have Act access processes I want to take a look at what's already there today and try as much as possible to leverage and to integrate
into what our current organization is already doing the second step is about enablement we want to make sure that when we bring teams into a Pathfinder that we're not just focused on getting a technology out here's the product but more so we want to actually involve them in the design I want that consumer that's in the room with us I want them to learn not just how to build data products I want them to learn how to consume data products and I want them to really start to tie together the relationships between these data products
and the Insight they provide and their business problems I want them to start to understand how data products can create an impact for their business teams enablement is so important for driving the culture if we can Envision down the road we can see a point in the future hopefully the near future when the only way and the best way to interact with data is data products because they're easy to use easy to understand and safe and secure to share then this is what you want to do this is how you want to get started you
want to get started with a strong enablement program the third principle then comes back to starting small I'm leveraging the existing ecosystem I'm ready to run I'm focused on enablement and I'm going to focus that enablement on one small team I want to bring a consumer in the room whether that's a business consumer or a data science team I want to bring him in the room I want to walk him through the design process and I walk him through the build process and we want to create a showcase not a use case I want to
get something that works we're going to make some mistakes we're going to learn a lot and we're going to get some quick wins and I want other teams to look at this showcase and I want them to understand how it works and I want them to be a bit jealous I want to work the way they're working I want self-service tools I want to run faster and so the Pathfinder if we can leverage the existing ecosystem and we can focus on enabling teams and we can start small and build a winning use case demonstrate that
showcase then you're well on your way with the credibility and the confidence that you have to start to enable other teams and other groups that want to build data products if this is an interesting approach that's something you want to do with your organization let us know and stay tuned to this Academy for additional information on how we actually execute thank you
