I want to address a topic that is on many Minds lately what if the US economy crashes this may sound like a frightening question but it's important for us to talk about it openly and honestly especially given recent events and the growing concern around this issue over the past few months we've seen significant developments involving the brics Nations Brazil Russia India China and South Africa this group which was originally formed in 20 9 to enhance economic cooperation and support among these major Emerging Markets has recently been making headlines the bricks Nations have been joined by
new members including Saudi Arabia and there is a noticeable shift away from Reliance on the US dollar more countries are showing interest in joining bricks exploring alternatives to the dollar for international trade this shift is particularly evident with Saudi Arabia a country historically tied to the US dollar through the Petro dollar system established in 1974 this system required Saudi oil to be priced exclusively in dollars thus reinforcing the Dollar's status as the world's Reserve currency however in June 2024 the 50-year Petro dollar agreement between Saudi Arabia and the United States expired Saudi Arabia is now
considering trading oil in other currencies such as the Chinese Juan Euro and Japanese Yen Saudi Arabia has officially ended its 50-year petrol dollar agreement with the United States shifting to a multicurrency system for oil sales well this transition allows Saudi Arabia to sell oil in various currencies this move coincides with Saudi Arabia's participation as a guest Nation at the bricks Outreach ministerial meeting in Russia will Bricks now comprising 10 members including Saudi Arabia Egypt Iran UAE and Ethiopia this significant change has led many to speculate and worry about the future stability of the US dollar
and its impact on the global economy adding to these concerns recent developments in the US banking sector have caused further unease several major banks have reported Financial struggles with some even facing bankruptcy or severe liquidity crisis Silicon Valley B Bank Signature Bank and First Republic are among the largest bank failures in US history and experts say more could be at risk so what's going on and is your money safe this has shaken public confidence and raised fears about the potential for a broader economic downturn the combination of these events has contributed to a climate of
uncertainty and anxiety in the past week and the last month the fear surrounding the US economy has intensified a simple search online about the US economy brings up countless videos and articles discussing its potential troubles the US's economic struggles are often cited as a cautionary tale exacerbated by shifts like Saudi Arabia's move away from the Petro dollar system these developments are fueling anxiety about the stability of the US dollar and by extension the US economy for many this is a source of panic headlines predicting a weakened dollar and an unstable economy are everywhere people are
worried about their jobs their savings and their financial future it is natural to feel trepidation and some degree of insecurity when faced with a bad economy that threatens job security and savings accounts in times of economic uncertainty it's easy to feel overwhelmed by fear and anxiety when bills are piling up prices are rising and you find yourself with more month than money it's natural to worry about the future but in these moments of doubt we must remember the name of the Lord Jehovah JRA the Lord the provider this name is a powerful reminder that God
will supply all our needs no matter what happens to the economy Philippians 4: 19 says my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ notice it says need needs and not wants there's a significant difference between the two our needs are what we require to live to be sustained and to fulfill God's purpose for our lives our wants on the other hand are often influenced by our desires which may not always align with what is truly beneficial for us in our society we are often taught to place our trust
in institutions our abilities and our wealth the prevailing narrative is that if we work hard enough save enough and invest wisely we can secure our future we are bombarded with messages that equate financial success with personal security and worth advertisements financial advisors and even well-meaning family and friends reinforce the idea that our safety and well-being depend on our economic achievements and preparedness however this mindset can lead us to a false sense of security we may begin to believe that we are the ultimate masters of Our Fate that our hard work and financial strategies are enough
to protect us from any eventuality while diligence and Prudence in financial matters are important they are not foolproof economic downturns natural disasters Health crisis and other unforeseen events can disrupt even the best laid plans life can stab you in the back even when you are innocent and well-meaning when you have done nothing wrong life can just stab you in the back so do not live a life with a false sense of security in your job your husband the government the economy your retirement plan your 401k your mind or your entrepreneurial skills trust in God's provision
allow me to talk about life this life that we live in is not fair everyone does not have the same opport unities as others some people do not have the same breakthroughs and opportunities as others life is not fair not everyone is born with a silver spoon in their mouth some people are hit with devastation and heartbreak that others are not hit with life is not fair I was a grown man when I understood that life is not fair the ruthlessness of life is real so to live with a sense of security in anything and
I mean anything other than the provision of the Lord God Almighty is foolish life is not fair but God promised you I will provide for your needs God promised you that a precious God will never turn you away in your time of need oh what a gracious God we have God has promised to provide for us regardless of the economic situation we face he has assured us that he will meet our needs according to his riches in glory This Promise is not limited to a particular country or economic system whether you are in America or
any other part of the world God's provision is available to you he cares for The Sparrows and feeds them how much more will he care for and feed his children you matter deeply to God and he will not fail to provide for you when we trust in God's provision we shift our Focus from our limitations to his Limitless resources we recognize that our job our bank account and our investments are not the source of our security instead they are tools that God can use to bless us the ultimate source of our provision is Jehovah jir
by placing our faith in him we acknowledge that he is in control and we find peace in his promises it's essential to understand that trusting God does not mean we will never face challenges or difficult times even in the midst of economic downturns God is with us guiding us and providing for us in ways we might not expect sometimes his provision comes through opportunities to learn and grow to develop new skills or to receive help from others at other times it might come through unexpected Financial blessings or a renewed sense of contentment with what we
have trusting in God's provision requires us to let go of our desire for control and to surrender our fears to him it involves praying for his guidance and wisdom in our financial decisions and being open to the ways he might lead us it also means being grateful for what we have and recognizing the many ways God has already provided for us many people place their security in owning their own homes or acquiring various assets these possessions give us a sense of stability and accomplishment however it's important to recognize that there is no permanence in this
life I watched a video recently that stated in 100 years in 2123 we will all be buried with our families and friends strangers will live in the homes we work so hard to buy and build and someone else will own everything we have today most of our possessions will be given away thrown out or destroyed and the car that we spent our fortune on will probably be scrapped our descendants will hardly know who we are nor will they remember us think about it how many of us really know who our great-grandfather was after we die
we will be remembered for a few more months or years if we are lucky before we become a portrait on someone's wall a few decades later our history photos and deeds will disappear into the Oblivion of History we won't even be memories with this in mind why do we live for this life Jesus said in Matthew 6: 19- 21 do not store up for your elves Treasures on Earth where moths and Vermin destroy and where thieves break in and steal but store up for yourselves Treasures in Heaven where moths and Vermin do not destroy and
where thieves do not break in and steal for where your treasure is there your heart will be also these words remind us to lay up Treasures in Heaven for that is what truly matters not the treasures here on Earth as Christians we need to live our lives with our eyes on eternity if we keep our focus on eternity we will understand that 100 years from now our worrying about the economy and stressing about economic collapse will have been wasted time our Earthly possessions and financial status will not matter in the grand scheme of God's Eternal
Kingdom what will matter is how we lived our lives in faith obedience and service to God and others living with an eternal perspective means prioritizing our relationship with God and the Fulfillment of his purposes over our temporal concerns Colossians 3:2 encourages us to set your minds on things above not on Earthly things this mindset helps us to view our Earthly possessions and circumstances through the lens of God's Eternal promises when we prioritize the Eternal we find that our anxieties about Earthly matters begin to fade moreover keeping our eyes on eternity helps us to trust in
God's provision throughout this life and into eternity God promises to provide for us and care for us as we seek his kingdom First Matthew 6 verse 33 assures us but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well when we make God's kingdom our primary concern we can rest in the assurance that he will meet our needs in Practical terms this means living out our faith in tangible ways it means investing our time talents and resources in things that have eternal value this could involve serving in
our communities supporting missions sharing the gospel and helping those in need these acts of love and service are the treasures we store up in heaven they reflect the character of Christ and make a lasting impact far beyond our Earthly existence it also means being wise stewards of the resources God has given us while it is not wrong to plan for the future or to be financially prudent we must hold our possessions Loosely recognizing that they are temporary our Ultimate Security does not come from our wealth or our plans but from God's faithful provision as we
Face economic uncertainties let us remember that God is our provider he is not limited by economic conditions or human systems his resources are infinite and his care for us is unwavering Psalm 37:25 says I was young and now I am old yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread this verse reassures us of God's faithful provision through all stages of Life trusting in God's provision also frees us from the fear and anxiety that often accompany Financial con concerns Philippians 4: 6: to7 instructs us do not be anxious about anything but
in every situation by prayer and petition with Thanksgiving present your requests to God and the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus when we bring our concerns To God In Prayer he replaces our anxiety with his peace which guards our hearts and Minds in conclusion as we consider the question what if the US economy crashes let us shift our Focus From the temporal to the Eternal Let Us store up Treasures in Heaven where they will last forever let us live with our eyes on eternity trusting
in God's provision and prioritizing his kingdom
