D and D is a game where you can do anything but what's the most powerful thing you can do what is the optimal choice for every species in the game like what are dwarves actually best at aside from the obvious sex appeal we are going through every species in D and D and giving the class they buff the most with their unique abilities let's do this the best asimar combo is fighter because you can fly even in heavy armor and most flying races can't do that plus you get extra damage on your attacks basically you're
a heavy armor strike helicopter with a longbow there are four types of dragon born metallic chromatic Gem and the base version in the phb metallic Gem and bass's strongest combo is Barbarian your breath weapon can toast crowds of enemies which barbs usually struggle with at the cost of only one of your attacks plus barbs have high Constitution which is the stat your breath weapon uses gem dragon born can also get psychic damage resistance which combos with the 2014 totem barbari giving you resistance to all damage in the game chromatic dragon born are a curveball though
their best combo is Druid all thanks to Chromatic warding this gives you immunity to a damage type letting you do specifically horrific things like casting Cloud kill as a Spore Druid grappling an enemy and holding them in the area of the Spell's effect while you are immune remember the saying if it sounds like a war crime it's probably a good time 2024 PHP dwarves and Hill dwarves get plus one to their h hit points for every level you have remember the saying if their ass is fat and their HP is stacked that's a barbarian about
to attack it's the tankiest species play the tankiest class Barbarian Mountain dwarves are different though because they get Proficiency in light and medium armor letting you throw a half plate on your sorcerer and completely ax dexterity to bump your charisma and Constitution making you extra tanky while still having decent AC this is actually the build that Matt Mercer used in exandria there's too many elves in this game but here we go High Elves best combo is Rogue because you get a free wizard cantrip that means you can pick booing blade attack with it as a
rogue for free every turn and then disengage as a bonus action and run away then if the enemy tries to follow you they trigger the booming blade and explode and you can do this every turn for free spoiler alert pretty much any species that gives you a free cantrip is going to be great as a rogue thanks to this combo wood elf's best combo is swashbuckler Rogue you've got enhanced movement pass without trace for crazy stealth Shenanigans and you can run in attack disengage for free and still have your bonus action to hide even when
lightly obscured Dr El's best combo is warlock 120 ft of dark vision makes you a terrifying nighttime sniper with eldrich blast plus you get the darkness spell for free which you can combo with the invocation devil sight to straight up brutalize enemies even if they have dark vision elin's best combo is Druid the flavor is awesome and you can teleport and set people on fire while wild shaped now SE elves aren't great unless your campaign is happening underwater but if it is they make good paladins because your high Charisma combos beautifully with friend of the
sea letting you make friends with a bunch of fish if you want to roleplay Aquaman plus your Elvish charm resistance and Paladin Aura make you almost unbreakable when it comes to charm effects shadar Kai are a disgustingly powerful race that can go with basically anything but my favorite is cleric not only is a nice car a subversion of dark and light you can hit enemies with your powerful touch spells and then teleport away without provoking an opportunity attack slapping an enemy into a heart attack with inflict wounds and then Vanishing in a puff of smoke
is strong and resistance to all damage while in heavy armor is filthy astral elves make fantastic Rogues with the ability to cycle into any skill you need combo with reliable talent and after a long rest you can set up guaranteed success with any skill or tool in the game plus teleportation is nice half elves get plus4 to their ability score increases rather than the usual plus three this Shores up monks beautifully who rely on a lot of stats to be good to be really effective plus the bonus skills make you useful outside of combat as
well hey bud I'm just popping out to the shop you need anything I need meaning what I need a reason for everything why are we here why was I even born yeah I was thinking more like if you wanted a pot noodle what is the point of pot noodles when the unending unfeeling expanse of the universe is utterly indifferent to our every struggle why even this cruel void is destined to collapse and leave only emptiness behind what can we do in the face of the nothingness that awaits everything well I could cast Fireball on your
Shield then you could use your Shields to explode some goblins with that fireball ohoh that sounds sick as hell we can do that you can with zon's codex of combined magic it's what I'm going out to get right now zanon's codex of combined magic is a 5e expansion that brings combined spell casting to DND cast spells together with allies for new Dynamic effects grab epic magic items that are stronger when used in sync across the party cast group ritual spells that grow more powerful than more participants and dive into new subclasses for the sorcerer Bard
cleric and Druid that focus on team Synergy zanon's codex of combined magic is out now on Kickstarter grab your copy to hypercharge your games link in description gnome's best combo is Barbarian for three reasons one it's funny to see a twoot gnome with a giant axe two advantage on all mental saves is incredible for a barbarian because that's your only real weakness three from level two you have advantage on every saving throw in the game except for Constitution which you have proficiency with instead half Forks make great Champion Fighters you make loads of attacks so
you have more chances to crit you crit twice as often so you have more chances to crit you have repeatable heroic inspiration so you have more chances to crit and Savage attacks makes those crits hit harder harling's best combo is Rogue obviously hiding is even easier for you you get stealth proficiency and you can weave around enemies even in very tight spaces hum can be literally anything depending on the feet you take it's a very boring answer but you really can combo this with any build in the game we are the default option winged teelings
are one of the only species with unlimited flight while in medium armor that Niche alone makes them great Rangers letting you armor up and snipe from the sky with a ranged weapon Abyssal cthonic and infernal teelings all get some bonus spells making them good for spellcasting classes like cleric or Bard who are probably the two that get the most from a damaging canri OG arac kokra had a fly speed of 50 ft while only wearing light armor combo that with a monk and you have the fastest species in the game in a race that lasts
more than 6 seconds mon arra still fly and they make great warlocks you appreciate the defensive benefits of flight as a relatively squishy caster and you can hover directly above enemies snipe them with elich blast and use the grasp of Hadar invocation to lift them 10 ft into the air they Then Fall prone for all your allies to smash them into the dust OG changelings get a very rare plus three to Charisma for their stats sadly they lost that in Arata but still they can endlessly shapeshift at no cost without a duration limit this makes
them an unparalleled Bard and you can combo the shape changing with all your skills for some fantastic roleplay opportunities deep gnomes make fantastic Rogues thanks to the dark vision and advantage on all stealth checks your magic resistance plus the rogue's evasion traits also gives you advantage on every saving throw in the game except for strength and Constitution for a very tanky stealthy build durar make great paladins you get invisibility which is a great spell and you get enlarge reduce which increases your size and in turn increases the reach of your Paladin Aura and lets you
deal extra damage on attacks the advantage on saves to avoid the Charmed and stunned conditions is also great for a Frontline combatant fairies make great warlocks fairy fire is a fantastic spell that gives you and everyone else advantage on all your attacks and you're attacking a lot with elich blast fairies also appreciate the free casting of it so it doesn't eat your limited spell slots and as before eldrich blast plus grasp of padar plus being directly above someone equals an extra 1d6 damage and knocking them prone without a save very strong furball's best combo is
Bard grabbing you expertise on the Charisma skills to combo with speech of Beast and leaf you're now the most popular guy in the forest if you don't mind making friends with squirrels and Stuff Plus invisibility is Handy for a squishy Caster there are four types of jasie air go with Tempest cleric this lets you fling enemies 10 ft away with just a handshake using the jassie's shocking grasp and the cleric's Thunderbolt strike feature Earth jassie's best combo is armor artificer with their free casting of P without Trace you are an infiltration machine with your infiltrator
armor and being able to cast blade Ward as a bonus action will help keep you alive especially in the early game while you're waiting on your heavy armor fire genasi are a pretty mid species honestly and not much really stands out as benefiting from them but they do make okay BS getting some fine damaging spells that BS don't normally get water Jassie are best saved for aquatic campaigns and in those types of campaigns they're a reasonable option for Paladin they give you a fine ranged cantrip option in acid Splash that can handle small groups of
enemies two things that paladins really appreciate gith yanki have psychic damage resistance so once again this is a species that let totem barbarians resist every damage type in the game plus they have spells which are kind of useful outside of combat giving barbarians a rare use to enjoy spellcasting even though you can't use them when you're raging meanwhile paladins love the gier free Shield spell and also really appreciate the advantage against being frightened and Charmed goliaths can make themselves large as a bon bonus action and once again that is great for a Paladin's Aura increasing
its reach the hill Giant's tumble effect can also knock enemies prone on a hit letting you make subsequent attacks at Advantage opening up opportunities for some devastating crits you can also bring down flying enemies in this way if you need to which paladins otherwise struggle with Haring gon get an initiative bonus which Wizards love letting you fire off powerful game warping spells before enemies have chance to react the Boost to deck saves is also nice and so is the ability to LEAP out of combat if enemies ever catch up to you without triggering an opportunity
attack kenu get Proficiency in a couple of skills and advantage on those skills making them great Rogues but even better BS The Bard's High Charisma combos beautifully with your mimicry abilities for some great roleplay Shenanigans laur's Leviathan will gives you advantage on saves against being Charmed frightened poisoned paralyzed and put to sleep all of these are amazing on a fighter who usually have weaker wisdom saves which all of those conditions Target magic initiate and eldrich Knight fighter can grab you create or destroy water to get around your limited amphibious so that's no longer an issue
Allin have flight 120 ft of dark vision and Proficiency in stealth making them the ultimate long range nighttime snipers because Fighters make the most attacks they get the most benefit from riging down endless arrows at Advantage from above Goblin's best combo is Moon Druid because you're your Nimble Escape lets you bonus action disengage even when you're wild shaped this opens up some really cool wild shaped options that aren't just brown bear all the time like elk or Rhino letting you charge down enemies the best combo for SATA is once again Paladin sata's magic resistance plus
your Paladin's boost to all saves is incredibly resilient and your high Charisma makes the most of those SATA skills toi monk is Iconic for good reason this is the fastest build in the game in a race that lasts less than 7 Seconds you can cover unbelievable distances in a single turn if you have to plus Proficiency in perception is good on a monk who has high wisdom anyway the real trick here is to be an astral self monk letting you attack from 10 ft away and then use your speed to Blitz off without provoking opportunity
attacks because just like a real cat you don't give a Toral are amazing for bills that normally have to have multiple High stats because you can totally dump dexterity and still have great AC this makes them perfect for the rarely seen strength-based Ranger who can rock a shield plus a strength-based weapon for 19 AC thick Constitution and Brilliant damage they also make good Sorcerers who like to ditch dexterity tritons get the spell fog Cloud which combos beautifully with the fighters blind fighting style this blinds your enemies even ones with devil sight letting you attack at
advantage and eldrich knights can cast this repeatedly with their spell slots making them the optimal Choice veran get advantage on all wisdom and Charisma saves great for a barbarian whose mental saves are their main weakness plus Proficiency in Persuasion lets you be active outside of combat as well bug bear are a brutally powerful species thanks mainly to surprise attack letting you add 2d6 to every damage roll you make against a creature who hasn't taken a turn yet in combat although there are some spellcasting options that can do incredible Nova damage with this their best combo
is actually monk you can make a ton of attacks for massive damage on turn one and still benefit from the bug Bear's longer reach for the rest of the combat centors combo beautifully with Barbarian charge is a fantastic ability giving you a bonus action attack which benefits from your rage slap on the mobile feet and you can charge in hit three times and charge off again every turn this is a very strong Dynamic movement Focus type build grung are hilariously powerful monks thanks to your poisonous skin every time you make an unarmed strike against a
creature they have to make a con save and on a fail they are poisoned for one minute you're making three to five attacks a turn so even with a DC of 12 enemies will fall to this eventually and slapping someone so hard they vomit is very on brand hobgoblins best combo is Barbarian yes another Barbarian most barbs have a pretty open bonus action once you've started raging and you act in close quarters with enemies letting you get good use out of being able to take help as a bonus action to give an ally Advantage you
also get temporary hit points which are effectively doubled thanks to your damage resistances and advantage against Charmed is nice Cobalt plus Rogue is one of my favorite combos in the game you get a free sorcerer cantrip which can be booming blade and you can let out a draconic cry to set up your own sneak attacks at Advantage lizard folks best combo is Druid any species which gives you a feature that can work while wild shaped is powerful and hungry drawers lets you bite as a bonus action while transformed giving you three attacks a turn as
a bear or similar overpowered transformation minur meanwhile go surprisingly well with valard you have Goring Rush which is a bonus action attack every turn however it requires you to take the dash action to use it but vads can cast haste on themselves giving you an extra action every turn which you can use to dash doubling your movement speed and giving you plus 2 AC and giving you access to that bonus action attack combo that with booming blade and hammering horns to push an enemy back and you have a surprisingly powerful lockdown effect just do not
drop concentration for Orcs funnily enough the best option is cleric the first time you would fall to zero hit points you fall to one instead with the orc's Relentless endurance this lets you stay on your feet even if the entire party is hit with a meteor swarm and then you can heal yourself and others this is basically the tpk insurance build very solid just like lizard folk long tooth shifters make great Moon Druids thanks to a bonus action bite attack that you can take while wild shaped I actually have this as the most powerful level
two build in the game using the 2014 rules shout out also to wild Hunt shifter plus Barbarian which lets you make every attack at Advantage across the entire game with zero drawbacks and the extra tankiness is nice U on are great and can work for basically anything because magic resistance is great on basically anything the best option though is probably cleric because they get the most out of the want spell list and you can use your many spell slots to repeatedly cast suggestion which clerics don't get otherwise if you are brave enough Kender make fantastic
blade singer Wizards with your Godly AC and relatively free bonus actions you can insult enemies goting them into attacking you while you speed off and are impossible to hit this is a ridiculously fun build but it does require balls of steel to tank as a wizard you probably want to take silver barbs here like other species that give advantage on wisdom saves and resistance to psychic damage kalashtar are amazing totem barbarians with the 2014 rules resistance to all damage is good advantage on wisdom saves is good War forged plus artificer is Iconic for good reason
the AC boost is great the flavor is perfect and your bonus skills complement the artificer's general site of abilities very very nicely autonomes are another species where cleric is the optimal choice you are the only race in the game that can heal itself for a can trip and you can combo built for success and bless for a 2 D4 bonus on any attack roll or saving throw that includes the Constitution saving throws you make to maintain concentration on bless this combo actually defends itself GIF are hippos with guns and an ability that make you hit
harder with guns obviously the best combo is fighter plasmoids work best naked letting you squeeze through tiny spaces and reshape yourself into whatever form you like as such monks the builds designed to fight naked are the best choice here th crean's best combo is debatable they are very strong but I'm giving it to fighter you have four arms letting you use a shield and two light weapons at the same time you can even use your fourth freehand to reload those weapons basically you're the ultimate two ranged weapons dexterity based fighter with a shield just remember
to grab the crossbow expert feet leonin are cat people who can frighten everyone within 10 ft with a bonus action raw just like real life furries the oath of Conquest Paladin has a feature which reduces all enemies speed to zero if they're frightened within 10 ft of you so this combo just makes sense plus paladins who like fighting in close range appreciate the extra movement speed hex blood are a powerful species that give you the spell hex for free that combos beautifully with fighter who make lots of attacks and get an extra D6 damage on
everyone eldrich Knights can use their spell slots to cast hex multiple times a day and have Proficiency in con saves letting you maintain concentration even when on the front lines damp have a feature called vampiric bite letting you attack using your Constitution modifier and regain some hit points or get a bonus to your next attack roll or ability check if you're lower than half HP it sounds crazy but swords B is the ultimate combo for dampier specifically because of a disgustingly overpowered exploit in the rules I'm not going to explain it here but it's in
this video if you want to find out more reborn are a species which are basically zombies and their best combo is B Knowledge from a past life boosts ability checks making you a fantastic skill monkey species and deathless nature gives you great insurance against dying from failed death saves put those together and you've got another pretty great valard boosting all of your B skills and giving you insurance if things go wrong on the front lines simic hybrid's best combo is the Beast Barbarian the flavor is perfect and they complement each other beautifully the simic hybrids
plus one AC is great and Beast barbarian's bestial Soul lets you jump super high in the air from there you can extend your manta Wings to glide doing the old wave Dash hady combo which waty had to ban out of shame but it's still alive in this build you'll easily be jumping 30 plus feet into the air and then gliding 60 ft a turn every turn for no action cost it's beautiful and it's fast as all hell ladon's best combo is Ranger natural armor is great letting you ditch dexterity for a strength-based ranger build it's
also very flavorful and honestly hilarious to sniff along the ground using your trunk for Advantage on all survival and perception checks while tracking plus say it with me front line combatants love the resistance to The Charmed and frightened conditions vid delin are blue boys who stole the gnome's most iconic feature and called it something different you have advantage on all intelligence wisdom and Charisma saves and just like gnomes this covers the Barbarian beautifully giving you advantage on all saving throws in the game except Constitution from level two plus tyus provision gives you a big skill
boost as a barbarian letting you be useful outside of combat as well and that is every species doing this I was surprised to see how few spellcasters showed up but I guess that's cuz they've got spells to solve most of their problems so it's the non-s spellcasting classes which appreciate the options from racial traits more of course the only build that really matters is the one you want to play but maybe this video gave you some ideas for NPCs or builds that you might want to try out if you click here you can grab a
