In 2015, I made my first truly successful website that was making 35 grand per month at that time called avocado. com. From there, I built a site that got to over 100 grand per month called createandgo.
com, teaching people what I knew about blogging. I've since sold those sites and have been building online businesses since 2010. Today, I'm using my experience in internet marketing to show you four real websites that make crazy money, but with basically just one page.
With each of these sites is an important lesson about making money online that'll hopefully show you what you should and shouldn't be making. So, make sure not to skip around. Important disclaimer.
I might start every video like this, especially if it's about making money online. Making money on the internet is hard. Like really hard.
In my last video covering this topic, I got some funny comments, but there was one that I think really deserves addressing. quote, "If this is true, you should be using your time building these websites instead of making YouTube videos. " Listen, I love a healthy amount of skepticism.
It's deserved with how much bull people are trying to sell you online these days. I want to tell you exactly why I make YouTube videos instead of focusing on tool sites like these. I think it'll also give you a better understanding of if you should build your own or not.
Number one, I don't like backlink building. Building these sites I'm about to show you is sometimes easy. Some of them you could knock out in a weekend with the right tutorial.
What's difficult about these sites isn't usually the build, it's the backlink building. You see, to rank sites like these, you need to be at the top of search engines. In order to be at the top of search engines, you need to gather great external backlinks from real sources.
A backlink is just an incoming hyperlink from one site to another. Basically, this just means that other sites are recommending your site and giving it approval. When you have a bunch of real high-quality sites recommending your site, Google will raise your position in the search engine, which leads to more traffic and more money.
This is the lifeblood of many internet businesses. And the process isn't easy. Getting real white hat backlinks requires a lot of relationship management via email, LinkedIn, and time spent pitching people on why they should recommend your website.
And to be honest, I never liked doing any of that kind of work. Even when I was making gobs of money as a blogger, I hated it. Which leads me to my second reason I don't focus on making sites like these.
Number two, I enjoy making YouTube videos and make great money from this channel. I'm going to give you guys a tip about finding happiness and success in your life because I know that's why you're actually on this video. Here's the tip.
If you have to make money in some shitty way you don't believe in or in doing work you don't find joy in, you're going down the wrong path. There's so many ways to make money on the internet these days. You don't have to choose to do something you hate.
And I don't like backlink building, so I don't do it. That being said, this might be the perfect business for you. Okay, rant over.
Let's get into the sites. Number one, sss tick. io.
This is a site dedicated to downloading videos from Tik Tok and removing the watermark. When you download videos off Tik Tok, they have a little floating logo on them that usually doesn't look great. This is a problem for a variety of reasons.
One of which is that when you try to cross-promote Tik Tok content on say YouTube short Instagram reels, that watermark will hurt your engagement. And when I saw the traffic numbers for this website, I was blown away. Crazy but true.
It reaches over 112 million visitors per month according to Similar Web. But remember that's Similar Web. As stated in my last video, they've been known to overestimate.
Hrefs says it gets around 54 million visitors per month. So, it's likely somewhere in the middle of those. But now is a good time to educate you on the value of certain traffic.
Traffic coming from countries like the USA, Australia, Sweden, or Norway pay the most money if you want to put ads on your site. This is because they are some of the wealthier countries and spend the most online. SS tick.
io O is getting tons of traffic, but it's mostly coming from Indonesia and less wealthy countries. While the cost per millie, what you usually get paid per thousand visitors of your average tool site is around $5 per thousand visitors, it's around 50 cents per thousand visitors with traffic from Indonesia. So, it's about onetenth of what you would be getting if that traffic was, say, from the USA.
But hey, it's not all doom and gloom. We can use a basic ad calculator online to see what 54 million visitors to your site gets you at 50 cents per click, which you'd still be making around $108,000 per month. Quick reminder, when doing these calculations, don't forget to calculate if the site has multiple page visits or multiple ads per page.
On the last video, there was some confusion about the math. Honestly, $108,000 per month is a very conservative estimate. They're likely making way more money than that, which is crazy.
But now I want to show you a site that is on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. One that doesn't get a lot of traffic, but still makes great money. Number two, bankstatement converter.
com. This is a perfect site to compare with the last one. With this site, you can take bank statements and convert them into a clean XLS format.
Now, this site is only getting around 60,000 visitors per month according to Similar Web and 10,000 per month according to Hrefs. But don't be worried about the low traffic. The site owner has revealed that the site was making around $12,500 per month in 2023 when it had a lot less traffic.
It's only grown since then, so likely the revenue has grown as well. Why is this site making so much money even with low visitors? Well, it's solving highv value problems.
Instead of trying to generate income through ads, the creator got a little more clever. The site allows you to convert five pages for every 24 hours, but if you want more than that, you need to become a subscriber, and the subscription fee increases based on the usage. Why does this work?
It's targeting high-value customers. If you're converting bank statements, you probably have the money to spend as a subscriber to this tool because it's saving you time. Because of the slightly higher value visitor, they are able to make money in a unique way instead of just with ads.
This is very different than sstick. io, and I imagine it's a much easier site to manage and less headaches than a site getting a 100 million visitors per month. Food forthought.
Okay, here's a fun website that'll piss some people off. Number three, pickerwheel. com.
Look at this website. It hurts a little to know that I spent hours of my life pouring my heart and my soul into making my sites unique and aesthetically pleasing only to get my ass kicked by a site like this. But here we are.
I guess you could use this site to help you make a decision. You can change the inputs to whatever you like. So, if you're deciding on the birth name of your child or whatever, just spin the wheel.
And it gets a shocking amount of traffic. 4. 7 million visitors every month according to Similar Web and 2.
6 6 million according to hrefs, most of which come from the US of A. Since it's monetizing through ads, we can see even if we are being very conservative with the numbers, it makes well over 100 grand per month. Just as much as my sites used to make back in the day, and they were definitely not one page.
Work smarter, not harder, I suppose. Okay, the last site example is a unique one. Number four, detectface shape.
com. This is a site that, you guessed it, detects your face shape. The first lesson from this site is a funny one.
I've said a lot over the years that your URL doesn't matter to your site success. And this is a prime example. Detect face-enshape.
com. This feels like AI wrote it. The reason this site works is because there are certain theories that certain glasses or hairstyles look better with certain face shapes.
I tried it out and I have an oblong face shape. What's fascinating about this site is not only does it get 1. 3 million visitors per month according to Similar Web and 300,000 per month according to Hrefs, it does a great job keeping people on the site.
It is an average of almost six pages per visit. Each of those pages visited means another chance for a site creator to get ad revenue. The average of most of these tool sites from my research gets around two pages per visit, but this one gets almost triple that.
Now, its traffic is a mix. So, we have to adjust the lower CPM rate to our estimates to be about $2 per thousand visitors, which means this site is still conservatively making around 25 grand per month, which is amazing money. Okay, let's answer some questions.
How do I build sites like these? As I stated before, if you're really into backlinking or have some unique idea that you truly feel passionate about, it's really not that complex to get started. You can build a basic site and then use an AI like Anthropic or Lovable to help you build your tool.
Remember, backlinks are going to be the lifeblood of making this work. Develop genuine relationships with people in your space and hopefully you can build links together. An example of how to do this.
When I was in the blogging space, I would regularly go on podcasts in order to get back links to my site. I was trading my time in order to build authority for my business. Just know if you want to build anything profitable and sustainable on the internet, it takes lots of time and persistence.
No, you can't just throw a site like this online and expect to start drowning in money. Sorry to burst your bubble. What's the best way to get started?
Just start. There are enough tutorials on YouTube to help you figure this out. We have a ton of videos on here that'll help teach you how to build all sorts of websites and are going to teach you how to build tool sites like this as well.
My suggestion would be to start with something really basic. Don't start with an overly complex idea and get bogged down in something grandiose. Work with what's right in front of you and something you can learn with as you grow.
One of the better ideas would be you could recreate one of these sites just to get some experience in the work involved. If you want to see more videos like this, please like the video and subscribe. It lets me know that you want more content from me.
I look forward to reading your comments and I'll see you on the next one.
