Wayne Perry is considered the deadliest Hitman in Washington's history his list of victims had triple digits and his contemporaries compare him to Michael Jordan because Perry's talent for taking people's lives was comparable to Jordan's talent for playing basketball combining those skills with the ability of a guy named Alpo Martinez to sell drugs Martinez and Perry created a gang that kept all of Washington in fear and made millions of dollars so if you're interested in hearing the story of one of the most talented Hitmen in the history of American organized crime then meet Wayne Perry on
the other side of the law Wayne Perry was born on November the 14th 1962 his childhood years were spent in the southwestern suburbs of Washington DC in a neighborhood known as 203 although washingtonians called these suburbs The Chocolate City Life there was not sugar it was a ghetto of a apartment buildings where violence and drugs ruled as a child Wayne was very close to his father almost every summer they traveled together to relatives in Georgia but most of his time was the time he spent in his native Washington slums while traveling south to Georgia Wayne
encountered racism for the first time in his life in the Chocolate City no one ever thought of insulting him because of the color of his skin but in the South the descendants of white Planters thought otherwise because of this Wayne often had to get into fights Wayne had an older half brother Lop it was he who gave Wayne the nickname silk silk because of his younger brother's fondness for clothes made of silk and being swaave with the ladies and swaave with girls according to another version Perry got his nickname later already when he became a
hide killer and silky was nicknamed because of the Silence with which he appeared to his victims in socializing Wayne was more attracted to older guys from the age of 12 he spent a lot of time in the company of his older brother lob's company was engaged in drug dealing robbing stores and other petty crime Wayne was also involved for example standing on the lookout if he saw a police car he was obliged to Signal his comrades Wayne later recalled that his older comrades considered him a lucky man they specifically took him with them because he
brought them luck Wayne did not forget about his peers when his older friends did not need his help he commanded a gang of peers everything changed abruptly in 1974 Wayne was approached by one of his older brothers associated with crime with a request to kill one of his uncooperative business partner Wayne was apprehensive about the idea but his brother reassured him saying that first of all no one would think about him Wayne and secondly even if Wayne was caught he would not be harmed as he was too young Wayne agreed to commit this murder but
on the condition that he could keep the gun Wayne met with his his victim and made casual conversation since the victim knew him he did not suspect anything after a few minutes he asked his conversation partner to buy him some ice cream on the way to get the ice cream Wayne and the target of the assassination attempt ended up on the stairs where Perry let the guy go ahead as the victim ran down the stairs Wayne shot him several times in the head from behind with a 22 caliber revolver as he ran headlong towards his
brother he became hysterical the fact is that not a single shell casing came out of the gun when it was fired Wayne thought that the gun was malfunctioning or the cartridge in the drum were blanks however his brother calmed Wayne down by telling him how the revolver worked unbeknownst to Wayne in it if someone like Wayne did not know the cartridges do not fly out when fired but remain in the drum and the revolver was now Wayne's personal weapon and the most remarkable thing in this story and revealing Perry's true nature is that the 12-year-old
boy cried after the crime was committed not because of shock and not because he had just taken a man's life he was crying because he feared he had failed the assignment however Perry had been in trouble with the law before Wayne Perry attended Wilson High School which according to the memories of his contemporaries resembled not a school for ordinary children but a school for future Gladiators since Wilson was attended by teenagers from several neighborhoods in the Northwest and Southwest fights constantly broke out between them fights that escalated into to beatings and the school administration could
not do anything about it the only thing the school was able to do was to place unarmed guards in the hallways however these guards could do nothing against the Young Thugs the entrance inspection was formal so the students could bring anything they wanted into the school during one school fight a security guard was shot and killed Wayne was charged but soon due to lack of evidence they were dropped Perry himself later said that the death of the Guard was on the conscience of a guy from the enemy group in addition to crime in his school
years Wayne succeeded in American soccer basketball and especially in baseball according to Wayne himself as a child his name could even be found several times in the sports section of the Washington Post however his Sports career was not destined to take shape as Wayne beat up his coach with a baseball bat he had to continue his education in a special school but there again he had problems one of his new classmates noticed the change Wayne was wearing at one of the recesses he demanded that Wayne give the chain to him Wayne refused after class was
over he spied a classmate returning home and then shot him it was the second murder of Wayne's life in 1978 Wayne robbed the bank for the first time he later recalled that going on a robbery his accomplice knowing about Wayne's passion for shooting deliberately took the ammunition out of his gun but after one of these robberies in 1979 during which one of the the police shot his younger brother Wayne decided to give up this kind of income by the early 80s Wayne was known not only in his neighborhood but all over Washington Wayne stopped with
raids on Banks and tried to sell drugs although as he admitted himself extortion and murder were more to his liking soon Perry gave up drugs and began to earn his living by ordering murders as well as robbery and extortion from drug dealers rumor has it that many drug dealers refused to buy expensive cars not wanting to to attract Wayne's attention sometimes however Wayne would change his anger into mercy and offer drug dealers the following deal if they agreed to pay him tribute he would become their friend many agreed one of Perry's former Associates Thomas doia
later record how after his release from prison he found himself on the street without a dime in his pocket however he met Wayne who suggested that they visit a drug dealer together once there Wayne told his comrade to go to the drug dealer alone and tell him that Wayne had come for money a few minutes later dosier returned to the car with a bag full of cash few people wanted to get involved with Perry by then but there were still Daredevils in 1984 someone tried to shoot Wayne right in front of the police but Wayne
was not alarmed or confused and returned fire and killed the attackers at the trial police confirmed that Wayne acted within the limits of permissible self-defense but the judge was adamant and sent Perry behind bars for 3 years which he spent in prison Lon when Wayne was released from prison in 1987 bad news awaited him at home his father had passed away and as Perry himself later recounted he nearly went insane in those days this event made him even more violent and soon Perry returned to the craft of a killer in which he now finally saw
his calling and in the future he would indeed achieve greatness in this business journalists will even call Wayne Michael Jordan from the world of murder in 1989 Perry met a drug lord from New York's Harlem Alberto Alpo Martinez Martinez of Puerto Rican descent began selling drugs as a 13-year-old in 1985 he met Rich Porter who in turn set him up with Westside Harlem big week Azie fasen fasen took notice of the young salesman and took him into his team within a couple of years Martinez became one of the biggest drug dealers not only in Harlem
but in all of New York however over time his relationship with fasen and pter began to crack between them there was a conflict over money in 1990 Martinez killed Porter and left New York Martinez came to Washington DC knowing that Colombia's top drug dealer Rael Edmund had been sentenced to a long prison term Alpo decided to take his place however Alpo needed forceful support for his business local gangsters did not like Outsiders in their territory and could not be trusted his dealers were constantly robbed and once during one transaction Alberto himself was almost shot Alpo
had first class Merchandise but he needed a man to provide him with protection that man was Wayne Perry there are different versions of how the two men met Wayne Perry himself recalled that this acquaintance was accidental and almost led to a conflict Wayne was going to shoot Alpo because his girlfriend told him that Alpo allegedly wanted to kill Wayne but when Wayne found Alpo however the man assured him that he had said nothing of the sort and that the girl had lied Alpo story sounds different according to his version he was introduced to Wayne by
a mutual acquaintance Lil poop but at that moment Alpo did not attach any importance to this acquaintance although he knew about his reputation soon after Wayne went to jail but no one wanted to bail him out Alpo decided to help Perry and got him out of jail according to Alpo Wayne was so grateful to him that he decided to repay Alpo a h hundredfold by giving him complete immunity for his drug business both versions may be far from the truth but the consequences of that meeting whatever they were were momentous Alpo and Perry formed a
gang called the Martinez organization the backbone of the gang also included big head Harry Sheldon Watkins and lil pop Wayne had trained these guys in all the tricks of the trade of killing telling them how to properly use different types of weapons in fact Alpo now had an entire Army of killers in which Wayne held the position of General soon Alpa was selling up to 30 kg of cocaine a day thanks to Perry he was able to sell his product in chocolate City where everyone was well aware of Perry's reputation Wayne prepared meticulously for the
murders he was about to commit he studied the victim's daily routine knew the places the victim frequented Perry would kill for almost anything he could kill a business rival or a deta he could kill a snitch and he could kill a man simply because he was suspicious of him or did not like him one of the first murders Perry committed while working with Alpo was the murder of drug dealer David short nicknamed Juke he was killed in the state of Maryland in 1989 Alpo believed that Duke was going to rob him during a deal and
so he decided to deal him out first Perry's reputation was so intimidating that he could commit murder even with with a mass of Witnesses on one occasion he ordered one of his underlings to shoot a woman who was rumored to be cooperating with the police Wayne's subordinate tracked her down shot her twice in the chest and then certain of her death went to his boss to report back on the task when Perry heard the Killer's story he was Furious he had always told his student about the importance of a check shot to the Head eager
to demonstrate this in practice Perry got out of his car and fired his gun into the head of a random person who was standing in a phone booth but sometimes Witnesses could talk in 1990 during one Showdown Wayne shot James Hensen nicknamed froggy right in front of his girlfriend alvida Hopkins alvida agreed to work with the police and testify against Perry this could not be allowed to happen so Wayne devised a plan he ordered one of his subordinates to hit alvida with a van while she was walking and put her inside the van alvita lost
Consciousness on the hit and run and when she woke up in the band she saw Wayne in front of her he turned on the track by the ban NWA a [ __ ] is a [ __ ] in the car and then began stabbing alvita he then pulled out his 357 Magnum and shot her four times Alva's body was later found on the side of the highway Alpo men also killed demeno Benson a young New York drug dealer and a friend of Mike Tyson demeno known for his good-natured demeanor and diplomacy moved from New York
to Washington in the mid 80s and began dealing crack cocaine there demencio made a lot of money rumor has it that his dealers could sell a kilo of the stuff in a day he was also friendly with alp's wife and it is rumored that she was responsible for his death alp's wife complained to her husband claiming that demencio had somehow insulted her demencio tried to extinguish the conflict and for a while he succeeded as a token of friendship Alpo invited demencio to a basketball game during during which in front of dozens of witnesses the short
man Pop came up behind him and shot him in the head Alpo later denied any conflict with demeno and even sent flowers to the victim's family Wayne Perry was also involved in the murder of Michael Frey suters one of Washington's top black gangsters of the period Salters had such a high profile in the Washington underworld that he often mediated any conflicts between criminal gangs Salters hated Alpo considering him an outsider in Washington Alpo even believed that salus was hunting him so he decided to strike first Perry was originally going to kill salus himself but he
was very cautious and it was not easy to get close to him so he decided to change tactics Perry was able to reach one of suta's cronies Michael Jackson Jackson was offered $9,000 half a kilogram of cocaine if he would agree to kill his boss Jackson accepted the offer he knew all the roots suters took and on July 16th 19 1991 he fired on his car as Salters was driving on the highway during the attack Salters suffered six wounds from which he died several hours later at Salter's funeral a girl named Evelyn Carter told everyone
that Alpo was the one who ordered the murder Alpo felt that Evelyn was talking too much so he gave Wayne the command to eliminate her Perry decided that Thomas toer a new member of the gang should take care of Evelyn toga tracks Evelyn down and as she is returning home from a Keith Sweeney concert at Constitution Hall he shoots her several times Evelyn manages to survive but was soon killed by Wayne himself at one party Wayne was introduced to a young girl Yolanda Burley Yolanda apparently took an interest in the young man and began asking
him questions about where he was from and what he did for a living Perry assumed she was police so he ordered his men to kidnap her and kill her another time Perry shot one of Alpo competitors in broad daylight then returned to the car with his associates and indifferently suggested they go out for a bite to eat in general killing for him was as you have realized the same as having a snack or a drink of water but all that brutality gave him a reputation that made it easy to do drugs so yeah the murders
paid off for a while Alpo and Perry had a lot of luxury Alberto had a fleet of expensive cars and a penthouse Wayne dressed in verace outfits drove a Mercedes-Benz 560 Al was happy with the amount of money he made and Perry was happy because he was doing what he loved killing they seemed to have a close trusting relationship but not everyone was as lucky as Alpo Perry was not worth killing a member of his gang if he had the slightest suspicion of betrayal he already mentioned dosier was Perry's victim when he thought he was
cooperating with the law the big-headed Harry was killed after Alpo learned that Harry was going to sell drugs on his own Alpo called Harry at night and told him that the entire gang Was preparing to make an attack on one enemy group and so Harry had to go with everyone right away Alpo and Perry drove their van to pick up Harry whereupon Wayne shot him dead however Alpo and Wayne's tandem soon came to an end on November the 6th 1991 Alpo Martinez was arrested by the FBI he was charged with drug trafficking several murders and
conspiracy to murder Martinez was taken to the DC jail Wayne took care of his friend and spread the rumor that anyone within the Prison Walls who harmed Alpo would be killed Wayne hoped his comrade could withstand the pressure of the federals although some of his friends advised him to get out as soon as possible Alpo on the other hand was scared to death The Washington Post wrote that he could not hold back tears when he was first brought to trial the feds decided to increase the pressure on Alpo the prosecution was pushing for the death
penalty or at least life without parole alp's lawyers who Services cost Perry $80,000 told his clients that his case was bad he advised Alpo to make a deal with the government explaining that if he gave Wayne to the feds he could avoid the death penalty Wayne later said that the federals were only using Alpo and that Wayne was their real Target the veracity of this is difficult to ascertain but Alpo did decide to cooperate with the authorities he contacted one of his associates Jerome Kerney and asked him to securely hide the very van that the
gang had had used in many of the murders no one at large knew that Alpo had begun to cooperate with the investigation so Jerome obediently carried out the assignment of his boss soon the van was in possession of the feds who hoped to find evidence against Perry in it FBI experts did indeed find numerous traces of blood and DNA from the victims in the interior of the vehicle also Alpo told the Feds that Perry was the one who killed Garrett Gary Terell according to Alpo along with they plan to sell a large shipment of cocaine
worth about $6 million Alpo was to receive $1.5 million Terrell 500,000 and they were going to spend the remaining $4 million on a new shipment however Alpo suspected Terrell of cheating so he ordered Wayne to kill Terrell his body was later found in Rock Creek Park Alpo also told the FED that Wayne had shot and killed Evelyn Carter Wayne Perry was soon arrested for selling drugs to an under cover police officer Perry was awaiting trial in the Prince George's County jail and given the nature of the charges expected to be released as soon as possible
with a short sentence or a fine Perry was unaware that investigators were already Gathering evidence against him in the murder cases when Wayne went to trial on December the 4th 1992 he was charged with the murder of Garrett Terrell as well as witness intimidation kidnapping robbery and conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine according to investigators Perry was The Mastermind and perpetrator of eight murders committed between 1989 and 1991 by Martinez's organization Tyrone price and Michael Jackson were also charged but the star of the trial was of course Wayne Perry the judge pushed for the death penalty
which hadn't been handed down in Washington County since 1957 Wayne decided to take a plea deal with the government he pleaded guilty to five murders and in return charged of other crimes were dropped Perry was sentenced to life in prison without parole years later in an interview Perry said he made the deal because he feared being lied to by Alpo he called his former companion and friend a spineless coward and a rat who would go to any length to lie to save himself Wayne first served his time in Marian prison where his cmate was John
gotty himself but then he was transferred to the infamous adx Florence Colorado prison there he met FBI agent Dan Riley this agent was investigating the crimes that Perry and Alpo had once committed and often stopped by to talk to Wayne Perry tried not to say anything that could hurt those gang members who remained at large however during one private conversation when Riley said that he thought Perry had committed more than 50 murders Perry leaned over to him and said that there were more than a 100 Alberto Martinez was released from prison in 2015 as a
participant in the witness protection program he settled in Lewis Maine for the first time after his release he tried to lead a quiet and measured life but his desire to constantly be in the spotlight played tricks on him Alpo began to give interviews in which he justified himself that he had become an informant was often in public made trips from Maine to his native Harlem it was there in New York City on October the 31st 2021 that Alpo was shot and killed by an unknown as salant while returning home from a party Perry after spending
22 years in adx Florence was transferred to the Washington County Jail in 2016 Perry has become a follower of the Nation of Islam movement embracing that Faith he preaches the ideas of peace and humility but at the same time does not forget to remind that such a severe sentence he received was not because of the crimes he committed but because of racial discrimination
