[Peter] Black Adam arrived in the DC Extended Universe movies to change the hierarchy of power there. He said it himself. But could he really do that?
In the post-credits scene we see him meeting Superman, but when and if the two really fight, does Teth-Adam have enough strength to defeat Kal-El? That's exactly what we're going to see now! Hey Nerd, what's up?
Peter here! Guys, the truth is that the Black Adam movie rekindled, let's say, the DC universe in theaters just because of a possible future conflict involving Superman. Damn, that messes with people's heads.
When he appeared the crowd went crazy! A possible fight/fight between Superman and Black Adam, beautiful thing, right? Now that we've seen Black Adam in action, that we have some notions of what he can do, everyone is crazy to see it happen, especially with Henry Cavill confirmed back as Superman, to the general joy of the crowd.
Will DC finally get back on track now? Well, that's another topic, but what everyone is interested in is this fight - Black Adam vs Superman, which is hypothetical for now. Who would win in a frank exchange between a tough Kryptonian and a magical being with very similar powers, but with very different morals?
So let's try to analyze point by point here! And if you like this type of subject, this is the channel for you, you have to be subscribed here with the bell. 8 years always bringing well-based videos with a lot of comic book reading for you, so you can arrive at the cinema with a lot of knowledge.
Lets go guys! [Magic] The big difference between the powers of Black Adam and Superman is the origin of these two powers, right. Our dear Clark Kent is a Kryptonian, an alien, who when exposed to the yellow Sun, like the Earth's, ends up excelling in relation to normal humans in physical capacity, in addition to abilities such as flying, X-ray vision, laser, senses improved and everything else that we already know so well.
It's a thick-skinned pack of powers! Black Adam only has the powers he has thanks to the magic of the old Wizard Shazam, the same one who gave the same powers to the Shazam that we know. And here the differences begin, because the powers may even be similar, with Black Adam managing to conjure lightning as well, but the magic that makes Teth-Adam powerful is precisely one of Superman's weaknesses.
One of the ways to defeat the Man of Steel is to resort to magic, as he is vulnerable to it. In other words, indisputable, point to Black Adam here. [Collateral damage] But since the powers are so similar, an interesting way for us to notice the differences is by looking at the collateral damage that the two caused.
In Man of Steel, Superman's first solo movie in the DC Extended Universe, he was even heavily criticized for having destroyed all of Smallville and a good part of Metropolis in the fight against General Zod, there was barely a building left standing, and look what he doesn't want to cause that damage and holds back a lot to cause as little damage as possible. Black Adam is not worried about not breaking anything, he is an anti-hero, he doesn't have time for these things, but on the other hand, even without holding back, the destruction he causes in Kahndaq is much less, much more controlled than than the damage that happened in Metropolis. I think this is a good example of how Superman can be a lot more powerful - and a lot more dangerous - than Black Adam.
[Weaknesses] Thinking about the weaknesses and not the strengths of the two, there is also a very interesting balance. Superman's biggest weakness, as everyone is bald to know, is kryptonite, a stone, a mineral that practically poisons Superman, makes him weak, unable to fight, and that can even end up killing him if the exposure is too much. Black Adam also has his kryptonite, a metal called Eternium, but it works in a different way: basically a gun, or a missile made of Eternium, can erect Teth-Adam, while no other weapon can.
And that's interesting, because Superman can be resistant, but he's not impossible to stop. For him, a natural disaster, an earthquake, a windstorm, anything, as long as it's strong enough, will knock the guy down – of course it would have to be absurdly strong, but it would. With Black Adam that doesn't happen: either it's Eternium, or nothing, absolutely nothing for the guy.
Black Adam only loses his powers if he says the word "Shazam", but then, who's going to make him say that? [Skills] In terms of skills, Black Adam is a little behind. Black Adam spent centuries trapped, inoperative, until he was reactivated by Doctor Fate in a special location of Task Force X.
Meanwhile, Superman has already been facing enemies for some years, saving the world and exploring, knowing his powers and his capabilities. He studies himself all the time, he's exposed to the sun all the time, right? Who knows, maybe in a while Black Adam will even have a better command of the thing and that difference will disappear, but in a frank combat, in one-on-one, Superman is a soldier – for lack of a better expression – much better trained than Superman.
Black Adam – again, for lack of a better wording, ok! [Enemies (So Far)] Although Superman has far more screen time than Black Adam, the two have faced a fair amount of opponents so far. The Man of Steel already had to deal with General Zod right off the bat in the first movie.
Too thick skin, right, an other Superman. Then he got Batman (prepared! ), Apocalypse and even later Steppenwolf with a horde of parademons.
Not to mention fighting the entire Justice League and holding back, the man is not kidding! Superman endured a lot of beatings and sent a beating, right? Black Adam has faced guards from Task Force X, faced members of the Justice Society of America and Intergang, but his biggest challenge so far has been the demon Sabbac.
Let's face it, guys, we have to admit: Superman's opponents so far are much tougher than the ones Black Adam faced, even if we take into account that Superman dies once, for the Apocalypse, besides of taking some monumental beatings from General Zod, Batman and others. Even so, Superman went there and faced it. Black Adam wasn't in that much danger, even with Sabbac, but we'll have to agree that his life is a lot easier than the guy in the blue suit and the red cape, you know what I'm talking about.
[Achievements] In terms of achievements so far, the two also have a lot of material to show. Superman has saved the world a few times, including the first time traveling insanely fast between India and Metropolis to defeat General Zod. Black Adam protected Kahndaq, not the whole world, but he also has his merits, especially after killing Sabbac, who is basically a demon, one of those who live in hell and was going to destroy the whole world.
They are magical powers, Superman would probably take a horrible beating from Sabbac, in the same way that Black Adam might not have the slightest chance against people like Steppe Wolf, for example. Here there is almost a technical draw, but the truth is that from experience, from understanding the thing, I would bet more on Henry Cavill against The Rock. But I don't know how long this will stay like this, worth remembering!
So I think the end result would be Superman. But what about you: who is the most powerful? Dwayne “The Rock” “Black Adam” Johnson or Henry “Superman, the Man of Steel” Cavill?
