the day Adam and Eve died when we think of Adam and Eve we think God's awesome power of creation we think of the beautiful Garden of Eden then we think of the Fall God's curse and the expulsion of the first humans from Paradise into a hostile world but we never consider their death we never really consider what it means for Adam and Eve to die and the day that it happened in this episode we are going back to the very beginning of creation to the Garden of Eden to a time when life was pure Untouched
by the stain of sin we are going to explore a moment in human history so pivotal so heart-wrenching so sad and painful that its effects have echoed throughout the centuries and continue to shape the world we live in today today we are going to talk about the day Adam and Eve died now you might be wondering how did they die when they continued to live for centuries after eating the fruit ah but death in the Bible is not just the cessation of Life as we know it no death comes in many forms and on that
fateful day when Adam and Eve ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil death entered the world and everything changed so let us go back to the beginning to Genesis and uncover the Deep truths about what happened in that garden and what it means for us today in Genesis 2:7 the Bible tells us that God formed man from the dust of the earth and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and Man became a living Soul Adam the first human was created in the image of God perfectly formed
a reflection of the Creator he was given dominion over all creation and he walked with God in the cool of the day can you imagine what that was like to walk with God to hear his voice to be in perfect commun Union with the creator of the universe and then God saw that it was not good for man to be alone so in Genesis 2:22 we read that God made a woman Eve from one of Adam's ribs and she too was perfect a companion a helper a reflection of God's Own love and creativity together Adam
and Eve lived in a paradise free from Pain free from sorrow free from Death there was no death in the garden of E Adam and Eve were meant to live forever in perfect harmony with God and with creation they were given everything they needed and they lacked nothing they were naked and yet they felt no shame for sin had not yet entered the world but there was one command one boundary that God set for them in Genesis 2:16 to 17 God told Adam you are free to eat from any tree in the garden but you
must not eat from the Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil for when you eat from it you will certainly die this was not just a warning it was a declaration of the spiritual and physical consequences of Disobedience it was as if God was saying Adam Eve everything here is for you enjoy it live freely but trust me trust that I know what is best for you obey me in this one thing for if you disobey death will surely come but then something happened that changed everything in Genesis 3 we are introduced to the
serpent who was more crafty than any of the wild animals God had made the serpent we know from later scripture was Satan in Disguise and his goal was to lead Humanity away from God the serpent approached Eve and asked a seemingly innocent question did God really say You must not eat from any tree in the garden Genesis 3:1 with this question the serpent planted a seed of doubt in Eve's mind he twisted God's words making it seem as though God was withholding something good from them and then when Eve responded that they could eat from
any tree except the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil the serpent told her the biggest lie in history you will not certainly die the serpent said to the woman for God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God knowing good and evil Genesis 3:4:5 do you hear the deception in those words Satan was essentially saying God is holding out on you he doesn't want you to be like him he's keeping something good from you it was a direct assault on God's character an invitation
to disobey God and become their own masters Eve looked at the fruit it was pleasing to the eye desirable for gaining wisdom and in that moment she made a choice she reached out took the fruit and ate it then she gave some to Adam and he ate it too and in that moment everything changed the day they died spiritual and physical death now let's return to the question I posed earlier how did Adam and Eve die that day they didn't fall over dead when they ate the fruit but the Bible tells us that death came
into the world at that moment first they experienced spiritual death spiritual death is the separation of humanity from God before they ate the fruit Adam and Eve were in perfect communion with God but after they disobeyed that communion was broken Genesis 3:7 tells us that their eyes were opened and they realized they were naked suddenly they felt shame something they had never experienced before they tried to cover themselves with fig leaves a feudal attempt to hide their sin and their guilt when they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden they hid
from him among the trees Genesis 3:8 can you imagine that the God who had created them The God Who Loved them the god they had walked with in the cool of the day now they were hiding from him afraid ashamed because they had sinned this was the first sign of spiritual death separation from God and it didn't stop there when God confronted Adam and Eve about what they had done they began to shift the blame Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the serpent this too was a sign of spiritual death the breakdown of relationships the
entrance of conflict blame and division but God's words to them revealed the depth of what had happened in Genesis 3:1 19 God said to Adam by the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground since from it you were were taken for dust you are and to dust you will return this was the introduction of physical death into the world before the fall Adam and Eve were destined to live forever but now because of their Disobedience their bodies would eventually wear out and they would return to the dust
from which they were made this is why Romans 5:12 tells us sin entered the world through one man and death through sin and in this way death came to to all people because all sinned the moment Adam and Eve ate the fruit death entered the world their bodies began the slow process of Decay and they were cut off from the Tree of Life which would have sustained them forever their choice led to the mortality of all Humanity so God warned Adam and Eve that the day they eat of the fruit of knowledge of Good and
Evil they will surely die indeed that is what happened Adam and Eve died the very day they ate from the Tree of knowledge of Good and Evil that is the day their connection to God was severed they day they cease all communion with God which the true meaning of death what if they had not eaten the fruit now let's pause for a moment and imagine a different scenario what if Adam and Eve had not eaten the fruit What would life have been like if Adam and Eve had obeyed God they would have continued to live
in the Garden of Eden in perfect harmony with god with each other and with creation there would have been no pain no suffering no death they would have had eternal life sustained by the Tree of Life which stood in the middle of the garden imagine a world without death imagine a world where there is no sickness no aging no Decay a world where we walk in perfect communion with God where we see him face to face where we EXP experience his presence in a tangible way every day that was the life Adam and Eve Were
Meant to have that was the life we were all meant to have but because they disobeyed that life was lost the gates of Eden were closed and the tree of life was guarded by a flaming sword Genesis 3:4 Humanity was cut off from the source of eternal life and death became our destiny and so because of Adam and Eve's dis obedience death became a part of the human experience every one of us is born into a world that is marked by Death from the moment we are born we are moving toward physical death our bodies
are fragile subject to illness injury and aging we live in a world where disease natural disasters and violence can take life at any moment but it's not just physical death we Face the spiritual death that began with Adam and Eve has also been passed down to every generation Ephesians 2:1 tells us as for you you were dead in your transgressions and sins because of sin we are all born spiritually dead separated from God and in need of redemption this is the legacy of Adam and Eve's Choice human mortality both physical and spiritual entered the world
because of that one act of Disobedience the hope of redemption life life through Jesus Christ but my dear brothers and sisters the story does not end there yes Adam and Eve's Choice brought death into the world but God In His Infinite love and mercy made a way for us to be redeemed he made a way for life to be restored even in the midst of the curse God gave a promise in Genesis 3:5 he spoke of a descendant of the woman who would crush the head of the serpent even though the serpent would strike his
heel this was the first hint of the Gospel the first promise of a savior who would come to defeat death and restore life that savior is Jesus Christ Romans 5:17 tells us for If by the trespass of the one man death reigned through that one man how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of Grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ through Jesus we have the promise of eternal life he came to reverse the effects of the Fall to restore what was lost in the
Garden of Eden when he died on the cross he took the penalty for our sin upon himself he experienced death so that we could experience life and when he rose from the dead he conquered death once and for all because of Jesus we have the hope of eternal life we may still experience physical death but for those who trust in him death is not the end it is merely the doorway to eternal life with God in conclusion the day Adam and Eve ate the fruit they died they experienced spiritual death separation from God and physical
death became a part of the human condition but God in his love did not leave us in that state through Jesus Christ he has made a way for life to be restored today we we stand at a Crossroads just as Adam and Eve did will we choose to trust God to walk in obedience to him and to receive the gift of life through Jesus or will we follow the path of Disobedience that leads to death the choice is ours let us pray Heavenly Father we thank you for the truth of your word we thank you
for the life that you offer us through Jesus Christ Lord we acknowledge that we are all born into sin that we all experience the effects of the fall but we also thank you for the hope of redemption for the gift of eternal life help us to choose life to walk in obedience to you and to trust in your plan in Jesus name we pray amen please remember to subscribe to this channel like and share this video may the Lord bless you and keep you may he make his face to shine upon you and be gracious
