done breaking new ground not just in the mining industry they're also shooting to stardom online smashing stereotypes and then I said how hard can it be boys it look out world today I'm a site manager for an organization in the mining industry and based outside of Rocky Central Queensland is a long way from home for Sienna melon but the money in mining convinced this Victorian to move to the Sunshine State and somebody handed me the contract and it had the salary on it and I was like holy um and it was over double my salary
to move up there and I also got a house to live in uh for $50 a week as well so it was a bloody good deal financially so she gave up her old job in agriculture for a sweet salary of more than 200 Grand a year the cost of rentals had gone just through the roof it was just a cost of living decision it was like why don't I want to move out here and earn this kind of money so you call the shots on all the blocks on the site so technically I am the
senior leader on the site so I do get to make most of the decisions there how do they go about having you know someone much younger female in the top role I've acknowledged quite significantly throughout my career that I am very young and I'm not as experienced as most of the people that report into me you move out to more remote areas and they're happy to give young people a go we're hungry we've got the appetite to to really do something special and something special she's doing indeed one Tick Tock at a time you need
to take your career in your own hands and you need to carry it with candid conversations and honest advice about the industry here we are a year later with 179,000 followers on Tik Tok as long as she covers up the business name she can speak freely I've had a lot of girls hundreds probably even thousands at this point have reached out asking for advice on how to get in and what they should do don't think just because you are in your 30s that you don't have any time left you've got all the time in the
world Haley Campbell is a Flyin fly out apprentice electrician on a mine site in central Queensland I've been working in the mining industry for 14 years I was doing a variety of jobs anything from housekeeping to bus driving Brey cook it wasn't until I turned 30 that's when I was like okay I think I'm going to give getting a trade a go she's getting on the tools and on Tik Tok sharing advice on her career change am I too old to get an apprenticeship my supervisor said look Haley I'm not big on Tik Tok or
socials but what I do know is what you are doing is a really really good thing because social media has such a powerful impact changing that mentality that women are only good in office settings I just want to be able to show to other women that you don't have to go down a certain pathway if you don't want to
