limited resource so therefore we need to manage this spectrum efficiently okay so therefore we cannot allow any new build device okay even for those old buil device they cannot afford to be transmitt at any frequency they are not intend to so therefore we need to have this emission criteria to limit the emission from the electronics device next G will be the regulator compliance so basically every countries have some compliance for example us have FCC control Europe actually have this C control so basically based on the different region that you intend to sell your newly built
device you need to ensure that they actually compliant to respective So-Cal compliant test before you can actually start to sell in that particular region next we need to ensure that the device is able to work in a function manner for example okay when you attribute a new product you need to ensure that they do not overly contribute the emission that can be a disturbance Source from the nearby device we also need to ensure that any new device that you actually meet okay they are able to withstand certain amount of electromagnetic spectrum if not it will
not be able to function properly so therefore because of this we need to ensure that the device is actually properly function okay in term of emission and also imunity next will be on the safety okay so safety is basically you just imagine this any new device that you actually make okay it actually has a reset suddenly without you knowing so this can become a very hazardous okay so therefore we need to ensure that the device will be able to compliant so as we don't have this scenario of resetting so therefore this is a life and
matter so therefore we need to ensure the safety okay by doing EMC we actually can guarantee some form of safety next will be the quality of performance of the product okay again it will be highly related to safety but in term of this some of the product may not require very high standard of safety as compared to safety so therefore for example some a product we can actually allow them to do a reset however we cannot have frequent reset so therefore this EMC testing actually ensure the quality of performance of the product last but not

radio transmission because of this so therefore we need to ensure that the electromagnetic spectrum G need to be well managed next okay as the number of wireless Electronics product continues to grow exponent financially the already pack electromagnetic spectrum is going to become even more crowded okay we know that the amount of electronics device in our household for example they grow exponentially so everything in our households almost everything become smart we have Smart TV we have Smart fridge we have Smart washing machine Etc so because of this okay the already back electromagnetic spectrum they will be
even more crowded so again this require some management of electromagnetic spectrum protection of this essential resource become very critical so as to ensure that device continue to be able to function properly in the future so basically this is the first reason okay because of the limit electromagnetic spectrum so therefore we have this EMC criteria to ensure that any Electronics device okay they do not have any unint electromagnetic radiation even as so okay we need to ensure that they need to be compliant at certain limit level so basically this is the first reason reason number two
okay will be because of the rules of different region okay so the governments and international organization actually establish EMC regulation so as to ensure that Electronics device do not cause harmful interference or suffer from it so basically firstly is on the emission emission may cause harmful interference next okay we need to ensure that our new build device will not be suffer from So-Cal the EM environment okay so that they actually intend to work with EMC testing actually help manufacturer compliant with this regulation okay so basically this is the second reason okay because of the rules
from different region most country actually have this regulation okay in short they are actually a legal requirement okay which means that you cannot avoid is a legal requirement okay that mandate EMC testing so as to ensure the product actually meet specific standard for example SEC KY will be us CE will be from Europe okay compliance actually ensure product can be legally sold and actually operate in the market so basically this is what I have explained early on based on the region that you actually plan to soal launch your new product for example you plan to
Launch in US you need to ensure that you actually comply the EMC standard according to the FCC rule if you plan to launch in Europe then you need to ensure that the new product that you actually launch actually compliant to the C standard so basically this is very important next meeting International EMC standard actually allow manufacturer to distribute product across multiple region under the framework of Global Market assess okay because most of the time when we actually make any new product we don't intend to launch in one particular So-Cal country we plan to launch it
under multiple region so therefore okay we need to ensure that whatever device they must be able to compliant under different soal EMC rules and regulation next as the density of electronics device in home office and Industry environment actually increase ensure that device can actually coexist without interference is critical for technology progress okay so this is what I have explained earlier on also okay you just imagine this if you m a new device that actually Emit and interference for example to the Bluetooth then the Bluetooth device that they actually use they will have a lot of

three okay we need to ensure that it actually properly function okay so Electronics device that emit electromagnetic signal that can interfere with other devices EMC testing ensure product do not disrupt the operation of nearby equipment and minimize interference so basically this part you can imagine it as a emission any new electronics product that we actually mean okay we need to ensure that they do not unint release electromagnetic signal that potentially can become a interference source with nearby device once you have this soal unint emission Okay this may cause some interference with nearby device and in
result may cause the device not able to function properly so basically this is the reason number three in term of emission okay so next on the immunity okay so basically where we actually do this EMC testing okay they actually also confirm that the device have immunity to some form of interference okay they will be able to resist external electromagnetic disturbance and they are able to continue to function reliability okay so basically this is a emission this is a immunity we need to ensure no over okay emission released by The dut we also need to ensure
that our D able to function in it in 10 function in the real world environment next okay EMC test product provide customer with assurance and also trust in technology ensuring they are actually purchasing a safe and reliable device imagine with EMC okay so basically we know that there won't be any form of radiation so therefore we are actually purchasing a very safe and reliable product and also when we actually have the immunity test on the dut okay again with this we can ensure that what the thing supposed to be able to soal function properly and
therefore again with this we actually ensure that we actually purchase a safe and reliable device next okay EMC certification is often regards as a mark of quality and Market differentiation okay helping Brands stand out okay so if you look at most of the bigger brand they actually compliant to the EMC okay some of the smaller brand on a newly startup okay therefore they still not able to soal compliant to the EMC so therefore if you able to achieve EMC certification This is highly regard as a mark of quality and also to differentiate that your product

presence of a typical EMC environment okay so basically this is reason number five the quality of performance of the products next okay on the last reason okay we want to minimize the product recall and also potentially five by the different regulation here okay reduce recall and penalties peing to meet EMC standard can lead to costly product Rec course fight and even loss of reputation okay so nowaday I think a lot of big company okay emphasized on reputation everything can go into social media so your reputation can be destroyed just one particular case of product recall
okay mitigate legal risk non-compliant can actually result in lawsuit okay under some extreme case it can be result in a lawsuit if a product cause interference or Fs in critical scenario if your company is caught selling product on the market that is non-compliant the consequence can vary from insignificant to scary okay so basically if you have selling some product that do not oite to EMC for example in the different region you actually have different rules in term of EMC so if you are C selling product okay that your product do not compliant to the MC
standard okay so it can be very insignificant but it can be a nightmare because you are going to face lots of lawsuit which can be quite So-Cal disturbing okay in term of your company progress okay for example your company may involve in complicated lawsuit and required to pay a fine or in some case JE okay a product recall is also a possible consequence and is a very painful process okay for example this thing although it happened quite sometime which is the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 I'm not sure whether you still remember this issue here okay
the battery actually has some fult it become quite explosive and because of some issue of this uh So-Cal mobile phone export in air uh aircraft get some potential Airline actually ban any soal passenger that actually carry a Samsung Galaxy phone uh Note 7 okay if you carry this Samsung Galaxy Note 7 at that particular time you may also require to off it completely okay so basically because of this okay a product record can be a soal possible consequence and from this example you can see a a painful lesson learned by Samsung okay because of the
