Before we lift our voices in prayer, let's dwell on the promises of God. Can I be honest with you for a moment? God has been trying to say something to you.
Not yesterday, not last week, right now, in this season, >> [music] >> he has been speaking through his word, through a quiet moment in your car, through a line in a worship song that [music] hit different, through a nudging in your spirit that you keep pushing to the side because [music] life is too loud and too fast to stop and pay attention. You are not here by accident [music] today. You did not stumble across this prayer randomly.
God has been pursuing [music] you, trying to get your attention, trying to break through all the noise, and today, right now, is your moment [music] to stop, to breathe, to listen. Here is what I want you to understand before we pray together. God is not withholding from you.
He is not hiding from you. He is not playing games with you. He is speaking, and the enemy knows that if he can keep you busy enough, distracted enough, [music] anxious enough, rushing fast enough, you will never slow down long enough to hear what heaven is saying about your life.
Do not let that happen. >> [music] >> Not today. Jesus said it plainly in John 6:63, "The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
" What God is saying over your life right now carries the power to bring dead things back to life. It carries the power to redirect you, restore you, and release you into everything he has already prepared for you. But you have to slow down long enough to receive it.
That is what this prayer is for. So, take a breath. Put down everything else.
And let's go before God together, because he has been waiting to speak to you. And today, you are finally ready to listen. Holy Spirit, don't let me rush past [music] what God is saying.
Father, I come before you right now, not perfectly, not with everything figured out, but honestly. I come as someone who has been moving too fast. Someone who has been so caught up in the demands of life, the pressure of the next deadline, the weight of the next decision, [music] that I have been rushing past the very moments you set aside for me to hear your voice.
Forgive me, Lord. Forgive me [music] for the times I treated prayer like a transaction, showing up with my list of needs, talking the whole time, and leaving before you had a chance to respond. Forgive me for the times I sat in your word, but never truly [music] sat with it.
Forgive me for the times I was physically present in [music] worship, but miles away in my spirit. I hear what you said to the crowd in John 6:26-27. You are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves.
Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures [music] to eternal life. Lord, I repent [music] of chasing the blessings more than I have chased the one who gives them. Teach me to hunger for you, not just for what you can do for me, but for you.
For your voice. For your presence. For the eternal food that only you can give.
Holy Spirit, slow me down. [music] Help me to truly dwell with you. Your word asks the question in Psalm 15:1, [music] "O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent?
Who shall dwell on your holy hill? " >> [music] >> And you answer it. Not the one who performs the loudest [music] or appears the most spiritual on the outside, but the one who walks blamelessly [music] and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart.
Psalm 15:2. The one who lives with integrity in the quiet places where no one else is watching. The one who abides.
Lord, >> [music] >> I want to be that person. I want to be someone who does not just visit you in moments of crisis, but actually dwells with you. Someone who makes a home in your presence.
But I cannot dwell where I do not slow down. I cannot sojourn in your tent if I keep sprinting past it. So, Holy Spirit, help me to build a life of sacred [music] stillness.
Help me to protect my time with you the way I protect the things that matter most to me. Remind me that sitting before you is not wasted time. >> [music] >> It is the most important thing I will do all day.
Quiet the noise around me. Quiet the noise inside me. And let me hear what you have been trying to say.
Holy Spirit, don't let me miss the divine moments you have placed in my path. You know, in Mark 10, blind Bartimaeus was sitting by the side of the road when Jesus was passing by. The crowd tried to shut him down.
They told him to be quiet, [music] to stay in his place, to stop making a scene. But Bartimaeus refused to let that moment pass him by. He cried out even louder, "Son of David, have mercy on me.
" Mark 10:48 And Jesus stopped. Right there. In the middle of everything.
He stopped for one man who [music] refused to rush past his moment. Lord, let me be like Bartimaeus. [music] Let me recognize when you are near.
Let me not be so concerned with what the crowd [music] thinks that I miss the one who can change everything. But also, Lord, let me not be so consumed with my own agenda, my own destination, my own rushing and striving [music] that I fail to notice when you are standing right in front of me. In John [music] 6, when the disciples were out on that dark, stormy sea, straining at the oars, Jesus came walking to them on the water.
But it was dark, and they almost missed him. They were frightened at first, rowing hard, exhausted, afraid. And then he spoke, "It is I.
Do not be afraid. " And the moment [music] they received him into the boat, immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going. John 6:19-21 [music] Lord, help me to stop rowing long enough to look up.
Help me to recognize you even when you come in unexpected ways, at unexpected times. Help me not to be so wrapped up in my own effort that I miss the moment you are walking toward me across the very storm I am afraid of. Holy Spirit, silence every voice that is competing [music] with the voice of God in my life.
Your word in Revelation 12 tells me that the enemy, the ancient serpent called the devil or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world was thrown down to the earth with great anger, knowing that he has little time. Revelation 12:9-12. He is not passive.
He is not resting. He is actively working to fill my life with enough noise, enough distraction, enough anxiety and offense and busyness that I never slow down long enough to hear what God is saying. But I stand on this today.
>> [music] >> They have defeated him by the blood of the lamb and by their testimony. Revelation 12:11. Because of the blood of Jesus, I have access to the Father.
Because of the Holy Spirit living inside me, I can hear God's [music] voice above every other voice. The enemy does not have the final say over what I hear. God does.
So, Holy Spirit, I ask you, silence every frequency in my life that is not coming from heaven. Silence the voice of fear that tells me to panic and take matters into my own hands before God has time to move. Silence the voice of pride that tells me I already know what God is going to say.
Silence the voice of distraction that [music] steals my quiet moments. And amplify the voice of God until [music] it is the loudest, clearest, most undeniable thing in my life. Holy Spirit, >> [music] >> make me childlike enough to receive what God is saying without rushing past it.
Jesus said in Mark 10:15, "Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter [music] it. " Children are not in a hurry when they are with someone they love. [music] They sit.
They listen. They ask questions without shame. They receive without condition.
They do not come with a predetermined agenda. They come open. That is how I want to come to you, Lord.
Not with a closed fist, not with a preset conclusion I need you to agree with, >> [music] >> not with one ear on your voice and one eye on the clock. I want to come with open hands and an open heart, like a child climbing into a father's lap with nowhere else to be. Help me to receive even the things I did not expect.
Help me to receive correction without defensiveness. Help me to receive direction without demanding that you first explain your reasons. Help me to receive your word, all [music] of it, with a childlike trust that says, "You know best.
" I am listening. [music] I will do what you say. Holy Spirit, don't let me hear God and walk away like the rich young ruler.
In Mark 10, a man came running to Jesus, knelt before him, and asked the most important question anyone can ask, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life? " And Jesus, looking at him, loved him. Mark 10, verse 21.
He loved him. And because he loved him, he told him the truth. He told him exactly what was standing in the way.
But the man went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. Mark 10, verse 22. He heard what God was saying and chose to rush past it because the cost was too high.
Lord, I do not want to be that man. I do not want to come to you with sincerity and leave with my hands still full of what I I to surrender. Help me to stay in the conversation even when it gets uncomfortable.
[music] Help me to be brave enough to hear what I do not want to hear. Because I know that with man it is impossible, but not with [music] God. For all things are possible with God.
Mark 10:27. Even surrender. [music] Even obedience.
Even the things I thought I could never let go of. Holy Spirit, vindicate my waiting. Speak through my stillness.
Let me not be moved. There are seasons, Lord, when the waiting feels unbearable. When I have been still, I have been faithful, [music] I have been seeking, and heaven still feels quiet.
In those moments, I cry with the psalmist, "You have seen, O Lord, be not silent. O Lord, be not far from me. Awake and rouse yourself for my vindication, for my cause, my God and my Lord.
" Psalm 35:22-23. I trust you in those seasons. I believe that you are not silent, that you are speaking, and that I am still learning to hear.
I believe that you are working even when I cannot sense you moving. And I trust that when your word breaks through, when it finally lands in my spirit the way you intended, it will be worth every moment [music] of patient, faithful waiting. Because your word is not ordinary.
It is spirit and life. John 6:63. It does not return to you empty.
And the one who waits you, who truly listens for you, who refuses to rush past what you are saying, that person, your word promises in Psalm 15 verse 5, >> [music] >> shall never be moved. Lord, I close this prayer with the words of Peter because they are the truest words I know. Lord, [music] to whom shall we go?
You have the words of eternal life. [music] John 6:68. There is nowhere else I would rather be.
There is no other voice I would rather hear. There is no plan I could make for my life that is better than the word you are already speaking over it. So, I am done rushing.
I am done filling every silence with noise. I am done moving so fast that I miss you. Speak, Lord.
I am here. I am still. I am listening.
Holy [music] Spirit, don't let me rush past what God is saying. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
