you talk about it we live it that is the message from residents in Ashburn showing us the horror after a rain camera captures a drive-by shooting German Terry is live at Chicago Police Headquarters and Germont neighbors want more than patrols from officers they really do Erika this afternoon four more people were shot two killed in Garfield Park adding to the gun violence and it doesn't appear that this is isolated to one neighborhood leaving neighbors to say the mayor and superintendent need a new game plan it's rare for Jackie Garcia to take a walk with her
son after sunset they live in the Ashburn neighborhood and what a train door camera captured explains her fear take a listen [Applause] that's not the type of life lifestyle I like or I have so it's definitely scary to live around this area that's the sound of someone opening fire right in front of Angela Martinez's house near 77th and Coleman the minute I heard the shots my reaction was to go to the back of the house try to get away you can see the swing set in Angela's backyard an indication of just how close all those
shots came but we don't want to have to sell the house to move but we're like what are the options for us like we have two small kids here it was a violent Memorial Day weekend across Chicago the deadliest since 2015 with 49 people shot and 10 killed is this was a fail and whatever the strategy is it didn't work today two more men were shot to death another two injured in Garfield Park and what's turning out to be a bloody week the new Police Superintendent says CPD did not have the normal 1,000 cops on
patrol from Friday to Monday we did not utilize the normal thousand additional officers we had several hundred but mayor Lightfoot insisting there was no reduction the notion that somehow we had less people on the street this weekend it's just fun really not true and while the mayor and superintendent work on the plan those living where this went down say more than extra cops are needed we need our cameras around here especially this is a routine to go to apart as for that drive-by shooting in Ashburn thankfully no one was injured according to police they didn't
get anti indications of those bullets hitting someone so the person missed his target police working diligently to try to get a hold on this violence reporting live from CPD SEC orders tonight Jamaat Terry CBS 2 News thanks Jamaat
