hi i'm ed china and what car of asked me to talk to you about vans i've always got something or other to move around so vans have always got a place on my drive i'd like to think that over the years i've learned which ones are worth your cash and which ones shouldn't be touched with a barge pole now before we get into that do me a little favor and click like and then subscribe below and that way you won't miss any more reviews from me or the lovely people at what car today we're going
to be talking about this the maxis e deliver 9. now you may not be familiar with the brand but you may know them by their previous name ldv now the e deliver 9 is the electric version of the regular deliver 9 which is a very good van in its own right and as in fact a what car award winner now the e deliver 9 obviously as the name suggests swaps combustion engines for electric motors and batteries but does it deliver in this review we're going to see how the e deliver 9 actually drives what it's
like to live with and also how it actually compares to a strong field of competitors such as the ford e-transit the mercedes-benz e-sprinter and the renault master e-tech the biggest plus point of the e deliver 9 has got to be the range even the smallest battery pack is 147 miles of range you go up to the next size which is 72 kilowatt hours that will give you a range of 179 miles and then the largest pack which is 89 kilowatt hours that will actually give you a range of 219 miles according to official tests that's
about 20 miles more than the ford e transit can manage doing those miles isn't too much of a challenge either thanks to a punchy 201 brake horsepower motor that makes the e deliver 9 much quicker than an e-sprinter handling is pretty good too because the batteries give you a sense of being planted on the ground but the steering's a little bit numb and does tend to vibrate a bit when you go over bumps and stuff motor and tire noise can get quite loud too especially when you compare it to the e transit the e deliver
9 isn't revolutionary inside but that's no bad thing there's plenty of piano black and false chrome sort of details dotted around the place just to make it feel a little bit more upmarket and there's even a 10 inch infotainment touchscreen the materials might not be anything special and they do squeak a bit when you're on the move but they're definitely not the worst and the screen is much the same it's functional it's got apple carplay and android auto smartphone mirroring but the screen is a bit slow when you prod it the driver's seat is pretty
comfy too thanks to this little armrest here and plenty of adjustability also you get plenty of equipment thrown in such as reversing camera and blind spot monitoring one of the biggest strengths of the e-deliver 9 is its practicality with the 52 kilowatt-hour battery pack you can still have a payload of about 1200 kilograms that's 150 kilograms more than the e-sprinter the e-deliver 9 is pretty good as far as load volumes are concerned too with loads ranging from 9.7 meters cubed to 11 meters cubed that's on par with the mercedes-benz e-sprinter and within the range offered
by the ford e-transit and renault master e-tech just be aware that the larger battery packs do affect the maximum payload so you only get 1040 kilograms with the 72 kilowatt hour battery pack and it goes down to 860 kilograms with the 88.6 kilowatt hour battery which can only be had with the longer body now it might not be quite as good as the ford e transit overall but the maxis e deliver 9 is definitely worth a look if you're in the market for a large electric van not only has it got a huge range but
also it's got decent handling and practicality and that's why i give it my ed factor seal of approval but also what car agreed because they're giving it 4 out of 5 stars in their full review want to see more van reviews from me then subscribe to the what car youtube channel you'll see each of my new reviews as soon as they're released and in between you'll also get to watch other reviews by people at what car and if you can't wait for your next van fix then head to whatcar.com and click on the van section
