the list is Reedsy, a platform that connects authors and readers. If you're passionate about reading, Reedsy offers a great way to share your thoughts on books while earning some income. It allows you to submit reviews for free books provided by authors and publishers.
Like the other platforms, you'll need to provide honest feedback, and depending on the length and detail of your review, you can earn anywhere from $5 to $60 per review. To get started, sign up on their website, and you'll be matched with books that fit your interests. The fourth site I want to introduce is Kirkus Media.
This platform is known for its professional reviews, and while it's a bit more competitive, it can yield higher pay as well. Kirkus offers opportunities for freelance reviewers to write detailed critiques of upcoming releases. To qualify, you'll need a strong background in writing and reviewing, as they expect high standards.
Successful reviews can earn you anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on the complexity of the assignment. Lastly, we have Scribendi, which, while primarily an editing service, offers a chance to earn through reviewing books. If you have a knack for editing and providing constructive feedback, this could be the perfect fit.
You’ll need to apply and potentially complete a test review before getting approved. Payment varies based on the nature of the work assigned, so it’s worth checking out if you’re looking for something different. So, rock stars, there you have it: five reputable websites where you can turn your passion for reading into something more rewarding.
Whether you're looking to supplement your income or enjoy more books in your life, these platforms provide legitimate opportunities to earn while doing what you love. Happy reading, and good luck with your new ventures! This list is Care Course and C Course is actively hiring reviewers for both English and Spanish content.
The thing about this particular website, however, is that their payment rates aren't publicly disclosed. You're going to need to contact their editor directly to find out how much you'll earn for each review that you complete. Now, you need to be mindful that each review must be around 350 words, and you're going to need to submit it within two weeks after you receive the book that you're expected to review.
To get started, you can visit their website, apply as a reviewer, and contact their editor for additional details. Review assigned books with the two-week deadline that I mentioned earlier and submit your review, and as long as it's approved, you're going to receive the payment based on the agreed-upon rate. Make sure, rock stars, that for this particular platform, you're reaching out early to confirm deadlines and that you're meeting those deadlines, because I've seen examples online of persons missing payments because they didn't make the deadline.
Now, next on the list is US Review Books, and this is another excellent platform that offers payment for reviews that are anywhere from 250 to 300 words. However, they have a much more professional application process. You'll actually need to submit a resume; you're going to need to provide writing samples, and you're going to need to share at least two references to get started.
So, I would say this one is for a little bit more tenured writers or reviewers who have experience. Once you have been approved, you'll join their team, and you'll receive books to review with payments made on a monthly basis. To get started, visit their website, submit your resume and two samples of previous reviews that you have done, and provide the two references that I mentioned earlier for verification.
Then, you'll be considered for approval. As an example, doing four books per month could easily add up to a steady side income with their regular payments. Now, next on the list is Rey Discovery, and again, you know where the link is for this platform.
Now, Rey takes a slightly different approach than what we have been talking about; it actually pays reviewers based on book sales. When you post a review, for example, every purchase that's made because someone read your review and spent some money allows you to earn a commission. The platform is ideal for avid readers who already have an audience, as the more exposure your review gets, the more money you're going to earn.
Now, your earnings will vary based on the book sales, obviously, but to get started, you can write a review for a book on the platform Rey (or Redy—I think Rey is the right pronunciation). Then you can share the review link on social media, on platforms like Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, so that you get more visibility for your review, and then you'll earn commissions for each sale made through your review. As an example, if 50 people purchase a $10 book through your review link and you earn, let's say, a 10% commission per sale, that would equate to $50 for a single review.
So, this money can add up pretty quickly. Now, as I said earlier, you can use AI tools like ChatGPT to get an outline for your reviews, but you're going to need to humanize your reviews or write them from scratch yourself to be successful with most of these platforms that I'm referencing here in this video. But let me show you how to use ChatGPT as an example.
You can put a prompt in ChatGPT that reads, "Write me a 250 to 300-word review that is brutally honest about Odetta Rocket's book, 'No Regrets, Just Lessons: Odetta Rocked Unedited. '" And, rock stars, as you can see here, as usual, ChatGPT is going to deliver. What I do recommend, however, is not that you submit these AI-generated reviews to any one of these platforms, but that you use it as an outline to write your review after actually listening to the book or reading the book.
If you are writing your review from scratch, you can use ChatGPT to proofread your reviews so that you don't have any grammatical errors or anything like that, but don't use it to write the entire review. Submitting a review that was 100% written by AI will not be accepted on most of these platforms. Now, let’s wrap this up.
Getting paid to read—I know it sounds like a dream, rock stars, but with these five reputable websites, it can become your reality. What you're going to earn is going to depend on the effort you put into this particular side income. It's not going to make you a millionaire; we have already established that.
But it will be a good source of extra income if your reviews get accepted. So ask yourself, what exactly are you waiting for? Now, rock stars, grab a book, settle in, and start getting paid to do what you love.
Until next time, walk good. Hey, it’s show you the way!
