Elijah the prophet who ran faster than any horse and showcased God's Mighty power in ancient Israel there lived a prophet named Elijah renowned for his incredible power and the unique fact that he never faced death today we will recount the events that highlighted his extraordinary abilities Elijah hailing from tishby and Gilead boldly Proclaim to King Ahab in the name of the Lord the Living God of Israel whom I serve there will be no due or Reign for the next 2 or 3 years unless I decree otherwise following this declaration the Lord directed Elijah to travel
east and hide near the cherith brook east of the Jordan there he would have water from the brook and God had instructed Ravens to bring him food Elijah obeyed staying by the Brook where he drank water and was provided with bread and meat by the Ravens every morning an evening after some time the brook dried up due to the drought the Lord then guided Elijah to the town of zarth near sidon where a widow would sustain him upon reaching zar ath Elijah saw a widow gathering firewood at the Town Gate he requested a drink of
water and as she went to fetch it he also asked for some bread she responded by The Living Lord your God I swear I have no bread I only have a handful of flour in a bowl and a bit of olive oil in a jar I was gathering firewood to prepare our last meal for my son and me after which we will starve Elijah reassured her not to worry and instructed her to First bake a small loaf for him then prepare the rest for herself and her son he promised the god of Israel says the
bowl will not run out of flour nor will the jar run out of oil until the day the Lord sends rain the Widow followed Elijah's instructions and they had enough food for many days the bowl of flour and the jar of oil never EMP Ed just as the Lord had promised through Elijah later the Widow's son became Gravely ill and died in distress she confronted Elijah asking man of God why has this happened did you come to remind God of my sins and caus my son's death Elijah took the boy carried him upstairs and laid
him on his bed he prayed earnestly oh Lord my God why have you brought this tragedy upon this kind Widow by causing her son's death stretching himself out over the boy three times he pleaded oh Lord my God please restore this child to life the Lord answered Elijah's prayer and the boy started breathing again and came back to life Elijah brought the boy downstairs and told his mother look your son is alive she responded now I know that you are a man of God and that the Lord truly speaks through you after some time in
the third year of the drought the Lord instructed Elijah to present himself to King Ahab promising to send rain Elijah set off and the famine in Samaria was severe Ahab summoned Obadiah who was in charge of the palace and a devout follower of the Lord during Jezebel's Massacre of the Lord's prophets Obadiah had hidden a hundred of them in two groups of 50 in caves and provided them with food and water Ahab told Obadiah let's search Every Spring and Stream in the land to find grass to keep the horses and mules alive maybe we won't
have to kill any of our animals they decided on which areas to explore and set off in different directions as Obadiah was on his way he encountered Elijah recognizing him Obadiah bowed low and asked is it really you sir Elijah replied yes it's me go and tell your master the king that I am here Obadiah responded why are you putting my life at risk by The Living Lord your God I swear the King has searched for you in every nation whenever a ruler reported that you were not in his country Ahab would make them swear
an oath that they could not find you Obadiah voiced his fears saying if I tell King Ahab that you're here and then the spirit of the Lord takes you away to some unknown Place Ahab won't be able to find you and he will kill me I've been a faithful worshipper of the Lord since my youth didn't you hear that when Jezebel was killing the Lord's prophets I hid a hundred of them in caves in two groups of 50 and provided them with food and water how could can you ask me to inform the king of
your presence he will certainly kill me Elijah responded by The Living Lord Almighty whom I serve I promise that I will present myself to the King today so Obadiah went to King Ahab and delivered the message Ahab set out to meet Elijah upon seeing him Ahab exclaimed so it's you the biggest Troublemaker in Israel Elijah replied I am not the troublemaker you and your family are you have disobeyed the Lord's commands and worshiped Bale Idols now gather all the people of Israel to meet me at Mount Carmel and bring along the 450 prophets of ba
and the 400 prophets of Ashera whom Queen Jezebel supports Ahab summoned all the Israelites and the prophets of Baal to Mount Carmel Elijah addressed the people asking how long will you waver between two opinions if the Lord is God follow him but if Baal is God follow him the people remained silent Elijah continued I am the only prophet of the Lord left but ba has 450 prophets bring two bulls let the prophets of ba choose one kill it cut it into pieces and place it on the wood wood without lighting a fire I will prepare
the other Bull and place it on the wood without lighting a fire then let the prophets of Baal pray to their God and I will pray to the Lord The God Who Answers by sending fire is the true God the people eagerly agreed Elijah then instructed the prophets of Baal since there are many of you choose one Bull and prepare it first call upon your God but do not set fire to the wood the prophets of Baal took their bull prepared it and called out to Baal from morning until noon shouting answer us baale and
dancing around their altar however there was no response at noon Elijah began to mock them saying shout louder surely he is a God maybe he is deep in thought or busy or traveling perhaps he is sleeping and needs to be awakened they shouted even louder and following their ritual cut themselves with knives and Spears until their blood flowed they continued their frantic prophesying until the evening but there was no answer no sound Elijah then called the people closer to him he repaired the altar of the Lord which had been torn down he took 12 Stones
one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob to whom the Lord had given the name name Israel with these Stones he rebuilt the altar in the name of the Lord he dug a trench around the altar large enough to hold about four gallons of water Elijah arranged the wood cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the Wood Elijah instructed the people fill four jars with water and pour it over the offering and the wood they did so do it again he said and they did once more he said and they did it
a third time water flowed around the Altar and filled the trench at the time of the afternoon sacrifice Elijah stepped forward and prayed oh Lord God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command answer me Lord answer me so these people will know that you Lord are God and that you are turning them their hearts back again immediately the Lord sent fire down consuming the sacrifice the wood the stones and even the dust
and evaporating the water in the trench when the people saw this they fell on their faces and exclaimed the Lord is God the Lord alone is God Elijah then ordered sees the prophets of Baal don't let any escape the people captured them and Elijah took them to theing Kish Brook and killed them there Elijah then said to King Ahab go and enjoy your meal for I hear the sound of a heavy rain coming Ahab went off to eat while Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel he knelt down his head between his knees and
instructed his servant look toward the sea the servant went and returned saying there's nothing there Elijah sent him back seven times on the seventh time the servant came back with the news I see a small Cloud about the size of a man's hand rising from the sea Elijah then said go and tell Ahab to Hitch up his Chariot and hurry home before the rain stops him soon the sky darkened with clouds the wind picked up and a heavy rain began to fall Ahab rode his chariot to Jezreel meanwhile the power of the Lord Came Upon
