4 months before Trump won the election Dana White introduced him at the Republican National Convention everybody told me not to do it I just want to make something very clear nobody in the Trump campaign has ever told me what to say nobody tells me what to say and I'm nobody's puppet in 2016 at the same convention Dana White said the same thing just for the record Donald has nothing to do with my business we're not in business together his interest in me and my business are personal but Dana did end up playing a crucial role

assume you love I love that too he's probably the reason why you're here I I I don't know maybe but there's a lot under the surface battles against corruption dating more than 20 years questionable bankruptcies and a network of powerful influences that would lead them to save each other but also to fight against one another so what's at stake here a fight for our country this is the story of a complex friendship that changed the faith of the Free [Music] World those early years for UFC were very tough tough they were close to closing it
down a few times promoters are calling it a sport but critics claim it amounts to nothing more than a human [ __ ] fight it's a brutal sport no doubt but is the move by some including Arizona Senator John McCain to ban Ultimate Fighting taking it too far McCain came out and said you can't put on these unregulated fights you can't have a sport where you allow blows to the brain stem in order to paralyze your opponent I mean I've seen people repeatedly getting smashed in the face with a guy sitting on top of them
that's not a sport I personally don't like a lot of the content of programs that are being put into American homes today he wrote letters to all 50 Governors asking them to ban it and it became banned in virtually every single state due to some distant political maneuvering putting pressure on cable companies they're going to cancel the coverage it wasn't even allowed on pay-per-view was on pay-per-view but the UFC was not the UFC tries to Pivot towards events these Arenas didn't want to sit there they're like w we we want this stuff in our Arena
I'm interested in running them out of New York they have no place in this state the governor and I both plan to back legislation in the coming session which will proceed to the problem of a total ban it's clear that I don't think anyone would want this in their city so we had a hard time finding venues lesson number one trust me when I say this I've been in business for a long time you can't mess with the government if you think about the last person on Earth you want to butt heads with it's the
government tell the government you're not going to do what they what they want you to do see what happens see how long you're in business and how how much fun you're having financially we we we were bleeding badly Trump literally called us come to my place you know do the event here we'll have you the Trump Taj Mahal blah blah blah blah blah he has negotiated with the Soviets to construct a luxury hotel in Moscow he owns the most Sumptuous yacht in the world in New York building after building bears his name he gets more
publicity these days than almost any movie star and some people think he should be president who our host Mr Donald J Trump who was a part of all the big fights back then and I've held a lot of fights I held a lot of Mike Tyson fights I had more Tyson fights than anybody [Music] else the fight of this magnitude could only be brought together by guys like Donald Trump who has the daring the flare the look and the cash to make it but here's a Twist when you reached out to Dana in 2001 Donald
was himself in serious financial trouble his casinos in Atlantic City were dealing with huge deaths and decreasing traffic he had three casinos in Atlantic City Trump Plaza Trump castle and a Trump Taj Mahal essentially all competing with each other he had to find a way to bring people inside his Casino I've held a lot of fights for for my own reasons it brings people it brings success it brings money Mr Trump this is the second WrestleMania you have hosted in a row the numbers of people we're really honored to be here and honor that you

excited we got a sellout crowd here 5,000 people I actually went to the first fight ever and I said wow this is unbelievable showed up to the first fight stayed till the last fight both times we went there I knew you were a fan cuz the very next event UFC 32 was at the metal lands and you showed up as just a fan not only did he show up at the event at the meals he was one of the first guys there sitting in his seat to watch the prelims I went and I said this
is the roughest sport I've ever seen But I began to like it while everyone was trying to distance themselves from the UFC Donald saw it as an opportunity this is a new sport that has some controversy which to be honest we like that you know Donald always says good press bad press press is press from a business point of view the benefits of being written about have far outweighed the drawbacks it's really quite simple controversy SS Donald Trump owes a large if not the largest measure of his success to his ability uh to run circles
around these dopes who uh who are reporters who ought to know better he plays the media like a strat of Aras to be successful in business you have to put up a good front believe me this will serve you well on many levels the word Persona has an interesting route it comes from the Latin word meaning mask each of us has a Persona we need it for survival it's the face we put on for public use and it can be intentional or unconscious life is is not all sincerity life is an act to a large
extent how do you think the public perceives you I think that the people and I have a pretty good understanding and a pretty good relationship I find this business to be Show Business frankly you know in terms of what we've done I'd like to make it a little bit show busy so we're getting to a part of the story that gets a bit tricky there's a shift in the media coverage of trump that starts to happen you are seen at all the right parties you are on the covers of all the magazines do you cultivate
a high-profile no I don't for some reason I mean people call and they want to do something if Newsweek calls and they say Donald we want to do a cover story I guess you sort of have to go along with it Donald attempts to shape a specific image of himself that the media challenges maybe if you can try and answer this question without giving me the normal Spiel huh what is the normal Spiel I don't know well the normal Spiel is that you became very public very clearly by your own design I don't know if
it was by my own design it becomes less about reporting the facts and more about pushing a certain narrative you know why you do it why you love the publicity you love the Limelight and that you seek in the public and the Public's agulation something oh I hate the publicity oh come on get out of here I'm telling you I hate the publicity please and that was effective on both sides I sort of love and hate him at the same time that's the word I'm looking for arrogant yeah he's he's he's arrogant I like him
you do man's got aaz got everything know you're on all these covers of Playboy f look at this picture here I mean like this isn't a hand oh you like this don't you news outlets always had political leanings or corporate interests that influence what they tell or suppress and skew and I hope the general public understands how inherently dishonest the press in this country is most of the information that's thrown our way is bias and there's no rational reason why you should accept looking at things only from one angle that's why I partnered with ground

as the Las Vegas local market which is a a major gaming Market here in Nevada and we lived this as a family business Dana Lorenzo went to high school together they were uh good buddies I became friends with Dana through Lorenzo the fertitas had powerful enemies who would make sure the USC would never step foot in New York everybody knows the story for those of you that don't the Las Vegas Culinary Union is what kept us out of here and Shelley silver because of all the you know dirty politics that went on from what I
understand there's some beef between your family and a union and that Union just happens to contribute a lot of money to one of mixed martial arts major opponents in the government of the state of New York you know unfortunately in American politics you know things aren't always what they seem my partners the fatita brothers they're non-union colon Union 226 has been pushing unsuccessfully for Station Casinos to unionize they feel like they found a point of Leverage in New York because they are they obviously believe they have the political power to hold up the bill in
New York and to this point I guess so far they have Shelley silver was a very very strong and long-term speaker the leader of the New York State Assembly he played made that conference like a virtuosa he was the guy who decided what happened or what didn't happen in the state of New York the most powerful politician in this state is keeping us out of New York we will take it up in conference I personally think it's barbaric but I can't tell you how many meetings I had or how many people I'd go and talk
to and you'd bring up UFC and you just get this visceral reaction like oh my God you're involved in that I mean I had to fly to places and literally had to wait outside people offices for them to come out and grab them cuz they wouldn't meet with me it just got to the point where the losses just kept coming we were bleeding money we we we were bleeding money I could see that my brother was getting a little bit of angst it's like going to a crafts table saying am I going to just go
there and play all night and not have a budget on what I'm going to lose an investment that we thought was 2 million is all of a sudden turned into $3 $40 million and there's no end in sight this could easily turn into $100 million and wake up tomorrow and say how the hell did I lose this much money and I can tell you the night it was late and Lorenzo called me one night and he's like uh Dan I can't keep doing this I can't keep you know blowing my family's money and this is
getting ridiculous you got to figure out what we can do go call a few people see we can come up for the company you're going to sell it we're going to sell it so I get on the phone and I start making some phone calls I call them back and I'm like 678 million it's probably what I can get I said well you know what before you call Dan back I want to go home I want to think about this I want to sleep on it and I don't want to make a a quick rash
decision on anything man I just I'm like I believe in this thing but we're not going to make it all right if you're like me you want to know too is Donald Trump broke Donald Trump's hotels and casino resorts are in deep debt to the tune of nearly $2 billion it's not exactly the kind of 11 Donald Trump wants to roll in Atlantic City his Trump hotels and casino Empire have filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection you going to fight it to The Bitter End I always fight to The Bitter End don't I when somebody's
in that kind of trouble you know obviously people are in debt out there what's the first step to all of a sudden on your on your way back never stop never give up and enjoy what you're doing of course it's it's hard to enjoy what you're doing when you owe hundreds of millions of dollars but you have to enjoy it anyway you have to love what you're doing but never ever give up just keep chugging and I don't know why but I I got up the next morning and I just said to myself I'm not

what the heck is Donald Trump doing with MMA let's find out sener Donald Trump who was recently announced as an equity partner in Affliction entertainment in exchange for associating his name with the product Trump can open doors the media that are close to even the UFC how the heck did you make that happen uh we've been talking to him for a while he's he's a big fan of the industry Sport and uh he was happy to come on board so it it worked out obviously to our benefit well I see Affliction just doing very well
we have the best card ever assembled in July I remember people being like well if Donald Trump's involved in this this must be pretty legit right the world's most famous entrepreneur Mr Donald J Trump he started to compete with us he actually got involved with another organization very importantly we had the best fighters when you have the best fighters that means something and we're getting a lot of other Fighters you know a lot of Fighters want to sign up when someone crosses you my advice is get even when people wrong you go after these people
is Revenge sweet I believe strongly in getting even if somebody has hurt you if somebody's gone out of their way to hurt you I think that if you have the opportunity you should certainly go out of your way to do a number on that do not hesitate go for the jugular attack them back in spades the rumors now circulating that the UFC is attempting to counter program the July 19th event with a live event of its own on Spike obviously Affliction is doing something that's causing the UFC to start to panic a little bit because
you know they're putting together a card that's got three of their ex- Champions on it UFC is trying to put together a show to try to take fans away from it and do you think that it will take over the UFC probably will I mean it's doing very well all the fighters want to be with us and I think it probably will take over I'm not out trying to kill other organizations the only time you've ever seen me act like I wanted to kill an organization was guys who came out and talk smack about us
we really were one of the only companies to go head-to-head with them all right you want to fight we'll fight tomeno is a loser number one okay he's not a good promoter all of a sudden they were getting ready to have a show and it was going to be Josh Barnett versus Fedor and that fight fell through they cancelled the card and then they just canceled the company we probably shouldn't have taken on so much especially when you're dealing with people like the fertitas how many companies got to sink and lose 20 $30 million before
these [ __ ] start to realize you just don't dive in and didn't realize the caliber of business that I was really in it's not an easy business and these guys just learn the hard way I think if you've dealt with Dana he's the type of guy to uh not only squash his competitors but really never look back and never acknowledge them I think the aggression has got us to where we are today you know Dana had a full attitude and just looking at us like you wanted to kill us and just like you know
just that that that attitude Affliction uh yeah they're not in the fight business anymore UFC has purchased Strike Force is that true that is true purchased Affliction they purchased pride and the IFL is WC merging with the UFC yes any way you look at it the UFC is is the Premier brand and mixed marshal Arts after the strike force purchase in 2011 they had virtually every figh art 1 through 15 in every weight class he made the UFC the brand they didn't say mixed martial arts they said oh the UFC the UFC also starts to
spend money lobbying politicians with the goal of educating lawmakers about the sport I tell you we've we've spent money and and we've used some muscle uh it's just a testament to how powerful one man can be according to open secrets between 2008 and in 2009 the USC dedicated more than half a million dollars to influencing Federal lawmakers McCain any of the politicians they are originally against it but when the money comes in and they may benefit from that money then they become for it and um so they sell out for the money these Sports growing
on you are you warming up to them they've cleaned up their act enormously so they've changed their their rules I I approve of them now I don't I don't have a objections to them now what we're looking to do is expand into these other countries grow the sport grow the brand obviously bigger and we need more fights we need more Fighters we're at that point now where we're doing more fights in more places and we need more guys we need more Fighters we need more Fighters we need to put on more fights we're going to
add more fights every year and and add more countries and and more television uh uh networks in different countries Dana has become the most successful you know promoter in history ever today Trump Baja is nothing but a highway billboard with a large photo of Donald Trump the Trump organization now says it was never the developer it designed the product and simply lent its name to the project some investors PLT down 30% deposits to buy condos were told last month that their money is gone and they would not be getting a penny back the Southern California
family made a down payment of $165,000 to secure a one-bedroom unit with Trump's name and face all over it they figured it was a sure bet that was the main reason we went ahead with this project was because it was a trump project all the literature and brochures we had indicated that he was the um the developer the money is gone that's all all they've told us is that there is no money that's it people lost anywhere from $100,000 to as much as $1 million a bad deal for everybody involved the couple says all they
got in exchange for their money was this tequila bottle and this bag with Trump's name on it that's all we got right there that's all we got for them yeah so the best thing to say to Donald Trump right now would be Donald you're fired in 2009 Donald files for bankruptcy once again but through a series of complex moves Donald is somehow able to buy back stakes from his company at an even lower price Donald Trump is buying one of his own companies out of bankruptcy be Bank Nevada agreed to put in $100 million to
save Trump entertainment the always in inventive Trump finding ways to make money and capitalize on the crisis I'm positive that somebody who's made a gazillion dollars going bankrupt and reupping and getting loans and losing people's money and starting that fell apart he's also a crook right like I'm confident yeah well he's the kind of crook that does it by the rules you know what I mean there's rules that you can follow that you could be walk up and down Wall Street you use the laws of the country the laws of the land and I did
it's business in America it is it's business in America in 2010 the USC is still blocked from entering New York and The Culinary Union are the biggest bunch of SC on Earth talking about a bunch of dorks from The Culinary Union they created a website about me they did all this other stuff Culinary Union I don't give a you guys think what you do go away you creeps just go away we will beat you every time just go away New York state does not recognize mixed martial arts as a legal sport we have not been
able to get a vote on the assembly floor strongly oppose this legislation the encouragement that we will give to children to pursue violence on a professional level domestic violence drug use you have two nearly naked hot men rolling around on top of one another fight off each other's ears that's gate point with a different ending professional boxing is allowed in the state of New York professional kickboxing is allowed they're allowed grappling competitions it just did not make sense but we don't want prostitution here and we don't want dog fighting here and we don't want ultimate
fighting here that guy is a idiot he really is [ __ ] that is the dumbest argument dog fighting and Pros I guarantee you this is financial I guarantee you the are these getting some sort of incentives financially to not sanction MMA in New York and that's the reason why I not entirely factiously say I'm doing more for the the economy opposing this then uh the legalization would because of all the money coming into New York into the lobbying firms and that guy's anti-American anybody that wants to keep you from doing what you want to
do that's anti-personal Freedom that's disgusting so we ended up actually suing the state of New York we filed a lawsuit against the state of New York challenging the constitutionality of the law that banned MMA it's also in the state of New York that the Attorney General office would launch an inquiry against Trump University in 2011 Donald Trump now the focus of three separate lawsuits claiming Trump University was a fraud you basically have a bunch of people who took these courses and say they thought they were going to get educated and instead they felt that they
got upsold and shook down and didn't get any of the education they were promised I went for Trump because of his alleged reputation to the best of my knowledge he was an extremely successful billionaire Real Estate Mogul is Donald Trump personally involved in the marketing of this product Donald Trump's sole role was in marketing he was the pitch man we have the videos of him if you don't learn from the people that we're going to be putting forward and these are all people that are handpicked by me the teachers were neither handpicked nor experts he
was not involved in the curriculum he never met or trained the instructors can you can you name for me one good live event instructor uh I don't knowu do you know a single good Live Events instructor ask and answer do you am I supposed to answer that you've answered it many answer it again it's many years ago what do you know about real estate uh real estate is a very wide huge business um I got involved in real estate personally myself in the '90s again you don't have any idea what the qualifications were of those

of competition that would be in direct competition with the Ultimate Fighting Championship so you're allowed to do business you're allowed to become big and you're allowed to become powerful but if you monopolize an industry and if you abuse that Monopoly by cutting out competition that's where the law steps in and says okay we've got a problem here but the Monopoly argument the problem is that you can make that with the NBA you can make it with the NFL you make that with Major League Baseball someone had actually sued the NFL for the same reason back
in 1984 Donald Trump back then he was the owner of the New Jersey generals a team in the United States football league we're certainly looking to compete with the NFL and the answer is we are in a form of War right now with the N there's no question about it we're going to be around for a long time fellas and we're going to win our antitrust case and good luck to everybody I would have liked to have been an NFL owner if I could have gotten in inexpensively and frankly this was a way of getting
as one alternative into the NFL very inexpensively do you see this as an attempt on their parts to maybe force a merger somewhere down the line that's uh that's all that Donald Trump and two or three of those immensely wealthy men have in line the usfl technically won the lawsuit the jury in the case delivered its verdict it ruled the NFL did indeed monopolize pro football but it awarded damages of just $1 however the stakes for the USC antitrust lawsuit would be much much larger if proven during trial the UFC would stand to pay up
to 1.6 billion in Damages to 1,200 fighters who competed for the promotion from 2010 to 2017 the lwuit began in 2014 and would unfold over the next 10 years but in 2015 the USC would get a major win the man largely responsible for blocking MMA in New York is former State Assembly speaker Sheldon silver however silver was recently arrested and has since resigned from his post speaker silver surrendered to the FBI in Manhattan earlier this morning we alleged that silver corruptly collected some $4 million in bribes and kickbacks Sheldon silver is going to prison drawn
out for the criminal that he is and Silver's departure has given New Life to a bill that has gone down to defeat every time it's come up in the assembly because he didn't like it announce the results eyes 113 nose 25 the bill has passed it looks like New York state is getting mixed martial arts after all and congrat congratulations on passing the bill uh I supported it but it had to wind its way through the legislative process which can sometimes be circuitous I would like to announce that with the approval of the New York
