when I was deciding whether or not to go full-time on YouTube I spent endless hours watching every single video on the platform about how much people were getting paid I basically needed to know how much people were getting paid by YouTube so I could decide whether or not I could quit my 9 to5 job and fund my lifestyle now 12 months later I actually have two Channels with over 190,000 subscribers I've got one channel in the travel Niche and one channel that's basically just shorts so in this video I'm going to show you how much YouTube paid me for videos with 50,000 views 70,000 views and a video with 1. 5 million views and at the end of the video I'll also be uncovering the best niches and audiences that pay the most in 2024 so of course stick around for that too but before we jump into it all I first want to explain how it all actually works because this is something I personally struggled with before I decided to go fulltime on YouTube there was so much conflicting information that I honestly didn't have a clue how monetization actually worked now if you feel like you already know of course please use a Time stance below and just skip this section but for those of you who don't please just listen up and let me try and explain it to you so you can get a really good idea so basically how getting paid on YouTube works is that you'll get paid per 1,000 views which is called RPM or Revenue per Millie and Millie basically means 1,000 so Revenue per 1,000 views now how much you get paid depends on so many different factors which means there is never one straight answer which made it so so hard for me to understand but basically the two biggest factors along with many others that decide how much you get paid are the niche your content fits in and the location of your audience so where your viewers will watch from now obviously the way it works in its most basic form is that companies pay YouTube to have their ads show up on YouTube's videos and US creators will get a 55% split of the ad money that companies pay YouTube and basically YouTube will keep the other 45% as profits now what you'll find is some companies pay more than other companies to have their ads on the platform for example a company that sells Investments or Insurance can afford to pay much more than a company that sells cheap iPhone accessories so this is where your Niche and your audience comes in if you have a YouTube channel based on investments or making money online and your audience is from let's say Dubai or the USA you'll get paid a really high RPM because the companies that put the ads on your videos are paid paying loads of money to have the ad show up but on the other hand let's say you have a budget Travel Channel and your audience is Indian and Bangladeshi you'll get paid a much lower RPM as those companies won't be spending as much to have their ads on your videos which you're about to see when I show you my financials now what's crazy is that some channels in specific niches can get paid up to $20 per 1,000 views and some channels in specific niches can get paid only $1 per th000 views so at the end of this video I'll share with you the highest paying niches and the highest paying audiences so you can make sure you're earning the most on YouTube but for now let's hop into my YouTube and I'll show you exactly how much I earned over three different videos so obviously here you can see we are now in the channel dashboard so as you can see it's Dan and Beth travels we got 50,000 subscribers our latest video was on places you want to avoid in India just a disclaimer guys this channel is all about travel I basically did daily Vlogs when I was traveling the world it's it took us roughly about 11 months to hit 50,000 subscribers so by all means it's not the fastest growing channel in the world but 50,000 subscribers in less than a year is pretty good going yeah we basically just did travel Vlogs uh around different countries like India uh China Japan all that kind of stuff your typical travel vloggers now the first video I want to show you is a video from Singapore it's basically a video where we just vlogged our first ever day in Singapore uh that got us 58,300 guys because a lot of you when you first start out your channels getting 58,000 views is quite an achievement uh now of course the bigger your channel grows the more views you want but for a new channel getting your first video with 58,000 views is honestly a really good feeling so I just want to show you how much you should expect to earn with a video on 58,000 views so as you can see here 58. 3 th000 views it got me 7,600 hours of watch time and 200 subscribers before we go on to how much you made I just want to show you the top geographies of this video mainly Singapore you've got Australia Indonesia United Kingdom and United States so all quite high paying countries now the revenue for this video for 588,000 views is a total of $293 now as I'm imagining guys you're probably expecting quite a bit more than $300 uh as you can see it's really not much I mean 58,000 views isn't a huge amount of views but still it just seems that under $300 for 58,000 views just doesn't really seem much uh and we can break it down here because how much advertisers pay we get $10.
74 so that's a CPM so that's how much the companies are paying YouTube to have their ads on my video and of course I get around a 55% split of that so my RPM is $53 so if you divide 58,000 by 1,000 which is nearly 60 and then times it by 5 you get paid around $300 so it's not bad like $5 for a CPM isn't bad but yeah I mean this is the actual reality of what it is guys a 58,000 view video only gets you just less than $300 but what's more interesting is the next video I'm going to show you where I got loads of views and the CPN was even lower so the next video I'm going to show you is one about China so this is our very first day in China it all went wrong for various reasons um it's the very first time I've ever been to China and we thought we'd Vlog it so as you can see it's got 71,000 views uh it got me just under 6,000 hours of watch time and nearly 1,000 subscribers just from that video again we're just going to audience the top geographies of this one is United States Hong Kong China Taiwan and Canada um and of course it's kind of the mid-range when it comes to age mainly males a few females in there but most people were not subscribed so the amount of Revenue I got for over 70,000 views is $318 so pretty much exactly the same as what got paid for 58,000 views as you can see down here I've got a lower RPM at $446 so again it's really not much now I'm not sure what Niche you're going into guys but when it comes to the travel Niche the travel Niche doesn't pay a huge amount I will give a list of the highest pay niches at the end so do stick around for that but when it comes to travel you just need to be realistic you don't get paid as much as a bigger YouTubers like you'd expect from MrBeast or Ryan Teran so that's that so that's 300 $8 for 71,000 views so the next video I'm going to show you is$ 1. 5 million views so this was my only video that got over 1. 5 million views so it's basically we took a brand new trade in India for some reason Indians love their trains uh and we just logged the whole journey we're actually 5,000 views away from 1.
6 million which is great it got us over 118,000 hours of watch time and nearly 9,000 subscribers just from one video which is insane now the biggest caveat here guys is that pretty much the entire audience for this video was from India and as you'll see at the end of this video when it comes to countries that pay the most India is right at the bottom so if you make videos for an Indian audience you're going to have an incredibly low RPM and CPM that audience really doesn't pay much and you're going to see why so 1. 5 million views has got us a total of 2004 $45 which again guys look realistically $2,000 for making one video which took us around I don't know a couple of hours is of course a lot of money and I'm really appreciative of the fact that I can earn $2,000 from one video however this is probably the lowest amount you'll get paid per 1. 5 million views because this was made for an Indian audience in the travel Niche so you've got two factors there the travel Niche doesn't pay much anyway and the Indian audience pays probably one of the lowest you can get when it comes to countryes so there's two big factors there and both of them really don't work in my favor when it comes to earning money and as you can see here if I scroll down to the CPM you'll see how little we get paid for the ads on this video so $3.
74 is what the companies will pay YouTube to have their their ads on these videos and then what I get from that is $128 so every 1,000 views I'll get $128 so to get $10 you'd need 10,000 views just for $10 so so hope that just goes to show you how low that CPM and RPM can go um that's probably the lowest you'll see so so just under 1. 6 million views got us $2,045 now after this video if you go and watch other creators and see how much they got paid for their videos I can almost guarantee that their figure the estimated Revenue figure will probably be triple if not quadruple the amount we got paid if the audience was from the UK or the USA or Canada for example but yeah that is pretty much the lowest you'll get paid or the lowest you can expect to get paid especially in the travel Niche if it's a video about India so just a really quick recap guys a video with just under 60k views got us $300 from Singapore a video with 71,000 views got us just over $300 from China and then a video with 1.
