what do you want Shenene oh my goodness if it isn't Little Miss [Applause] Attitude have a SE come on in [Applause] Mr Martin Lawrence now we're trying to get to the bottom about the relationship between the two of you you two get along all right oh she's talking about D Wayne did she telling people about D Wayne well but she brings it to work you know but uh she living two lives she got the best of both words do I have a great boyfriend on screen great boyfriend on screen you know I'm your husband I'm
your fiance fiance you guys are engaged now we gagee now on TV now was that thing going to come on is it really going to happen or you're not saying I think we going to make it happen uh we just got to you do it the right way but I didn't want to I didn't want to interrupt her time no but you know Martin is going to be on Saturday Night Live that's right he's on this week on Saturday Night Live having a lot of fun Martin Lawrence's sitcom Martin made him a star but when
a main character left fans were left wondering why did Gina leave Martin well the answer lies in some serious backstage drama that not only led to her departure but also caused the hit show to be canceled after just five seasons but Martin unfortunately you know show business at a certain point in his life got the best of them and when that happens you see it happening and there's nothing you can do about it you know you just you pray for that person it's almost like watching a car crash that you can't stop so when he
and Tisha had their bout um what I always respected about the both of them they never neither of them made me feel uncomfortable you know right before Tisha left the set because she had to it got to that point and I understood it it it's like it's just like the matrix it's like you know you could hear silence it was just very surreal you can no longer be a victim you you have to be victorious at this point you can't play the victim cuz at this point and I'm I'm I'm not saying this to to
put you down or anything what I'm saying is he's winning and you're allowing him to win you're making a conscious decision to harm yourself to hurt yourself and allow this person to still have dominion over your life you can't do that anymore the reason why I can absolutely say this to you without you you know without judgment or anything else is and this is the first time that I've admitted this on camera in front of millions National people is that I too have been a victim of the same Martin was part of the 1990s wave
of popular sitcoms featuring black leads the show really helped Lawrence become a household name but that wasn't enough to keep Martin on the air the second biggest name to come out of Martin was Tisha Campbell who played Martin's girlfriend Gina a huge part of Martin's success was the dynamic though sometimes stressful relationship between Martin and Gina however the tension between the two actors behind the scenes played a big role in the show's early end Reginald Ballard was once asked about what happened I didn't really hang with Martin like that you know I mean we worked
and um you know that was you know that pretty much was it well what started to happen on the show on season five see I I wasn't on season five I I don't know yeah I wasn't on season five man I just I just knew that um you know it was a little you know tension you know on the set you know sometimes I go you know but he was always cool you know with me I I never seen you know no animosity toward uh me or um really any other the any other the um
the the uh characters characters but you know you you hear rumors I was I was like on the outside looking in you know I didn't see I didn't see the stuff that you know the rumors that I heard that was going around I never seen any of that stuff man I always everybody was always happy you know it was like a big family man every time I was around okay but I guess how you know you said on season five even though you weren't there yeah I wasn't there on season five uh Tisha and Martin
just couldn't even be in the same room together got that b now I knew that I knew that yeah I knew that they couldn't be on this they not only not in the same room they couldn't even I don't think they they couldn't even be on the lot Universal you know if Martin was on universal lot she couldn't be there if if if she was there he couldn't be there so I knew that much but um you know all the other stuff that that they say that happened I man I never seen that man the
truth is that by season 5 the relationship between Martin Lawrence and Tisha Campbell had completely broken down they had known each other before the show having starred together in house party but according to Campbell Lawrence began making unwanted sexual advances by the fifth season Campbell had reached her limit and filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Lawrence this led to Gina being absent for much of the season the show could have continued we did a big report about why the show ended we did what happened what what people say as far as what the reaction or
what this report was whatever I mean the stuff with um Tisha yeah and she fall in the lawsuit and it's kind of fell nasty do you think the show could have continued without her was it just the the time I I don't know man I feel like um I feel like everybody bought their own little thing to it you know was like it's like the Lakers back in the day right we all had our own personal favorite and that's what made the team be what it was you know could it probably could have but for
H you know what I'm saying like you know it was different listen they replaced the mama on the Fresh Prince real quick sure did they went from dark skin to light skin like it didn't even like it was they didn't miss a step see nothing and you know it it has happened you know just like on Family Matters them kids went upstairs and never came down but I'm thinking it seem I was like didn't y'all have brothers and sisters like what what the so yeah I I believe certain certain things probably could have happened but
it would have it's not just about could it have happened without her it was about a whole bunch of different right cuz from what we learned it seemed like Mark was going on yeah yeah yeah like it was it was about a whole bunch of you know that that it wouldn't have put so the answer is no because of other elements you know it couldn't have survived the lawsuit was eventually settled and Campbell returned for the final episodes of Martine but only under the condition that she didn't have to share any scenes with Lawrence it
looked like things finally got smoothed over between the Martin cast when Martin Lawrence said everything was good between him and Tisha Campbell she had seemingly forgiven him I'm surprised Martin hasn't gotten cancel okay it's because Tisha Campbell has gone light on him and it's her fault all right so during the interview they asked him about this lawsuit that was dropped I believe Tish camell dropped it okay I don't know why she did it I don't know the specifics of that case don't have me Revisited but when he said during the interview he was like listen
it it never happened it never happened and now mind you they had just made up a year prior okay and everybody was talking about there was going to be like a reboot of the show okay but she actually came out on the real daytime and clarified that it was not a reboot that we actually made up we're good you know I'm divorcing my gay husband and you know I am um and I um you know turn it over a new Lea so I want to apologize to you and it's and it's caused a lot of
speculation having a lot of people think that Dwayne Martin actually facilitated the lawsuit because it's funny that she sued him while she was married to Dwayne Martin but as soon as she divorces her gay husband um she apologizes to Martin now Martin I guess after he got the apology and they made up he was just like you know what it didn't happen so basically he called her a liar he called her a liar now I said now Martin is really bold to even say anything like that during the promotion of such a big where screen
go okay but I just wanted to point out Martin needs to be very careful the money is uh uh rolling back in and his mouth could get him in a lot of trouble and Tisha Campbell could possibly uh uh uh refile that lawsuit okay because there's no statue of limitations on and I'm sure there's other women okay just like they're doing Russell Simmons and Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby Campbell was taken aback by Lawrence's comments especially since she thought they had reached an understanding hearing him dismiss her lawsuit claims as lies again decades later came
as a shock she appeared on the talk and said his remarks surprised her though she couldn't say much because of a gag order I can't go into much detail about the past because there was a confidentiality agreement but I was actually kind of shocked there were people in my ear saying be quiet don't say anything and then there were other people who were like you need to P back but I took a day and I said I'm going just hit him up and so I was like Hey and he was like T I said yo
are we good right and um he was like yeah t don't read into what it is you know there's a lot of people that's trying to bring up the past and trying to make it news today but you know T we're good I love you I love your family according to Lawrence she called him after his comments and he told her that people were trying to bring up the past as reported by Essence by 2022 Campbell said she had worked really hard to reconnect to forgive Lawrence and he said most people don't know that we've
talked if you look back there was some some pictures of us and we had uh lunch last year and most people were talking about a reboot and for us it wasn't about a reboot it was about a reconnection and we got to talk about every good by the end of it it was nothing but laughter and healing and I got a chance to experience that and I'm so glad that we're in a good place right now in 2024 the Martin cast reunited at the 75th Emmy Awards they made a grand entrance in a replica of
the show's apartment pretending they were there to accept an Emmy but in reality they were there to present one the reunion included Martin Lawrence Tisha Campbell TIY Arnold and Carl Anthony pay so definitely talk about the the impact you know of course Martin and Gina and black love core core Circle your your friendship uh even even Cole you you not listening to what other other people say about uh big Shirley you love big Shirley best we love to as consumers but you loved her best and and then TOA you playing a role as Pim walking
in with the suits with the swag even on the episode when you become an anr I didn't know what anr was till I watched Martin so so you know just talk about that cultural impact that you had and how how do you digest that 30 years later but te sure now used to beg Martin we was like we want to do more scenes together so Martin came up with cuz what I love about Martin he allowed us to sing as well and tshir and I we we started on stage so he's like y'all going to
sing y'all going to sing so I love the fact that he was able to to incorporate that into it and he taught us what comedy was cuz I mean at first I couldn't get arrested getting a sitcom or anything and he really taught us to be free we were free on that set to just play Campbell joked that they should have won an Emmy during their run and then they presented the award for lead actor in a comedy series to Jeremy Allen White for the bear Jeremy Allen White the bear and it seems Tisha has
a habit of forgiving people because she actually went through severe trauma in her childhood and ended up forgiving her abuser that's the message because even though this is something that happened a long time ago you could still make it happen in your mind every single day your walk in life over and over again becoming and still be maintaining being a victim that's not what I do right and I've never been a victim to it but there was some remnants up in there ab and so so this is my way of telling him I forgive you
and and I forgive myself wow I have to so we're going to play the video set it up what we're going to see well you're going to see a man writing a letter and then you're going to see the the the the actual words of the letter on my body and also you're going to see me in a long black dress and black represents to me strength and beauty and so when you see the human beings coming out of the dress there's dancers coming out of the dress dress those people represent the regurgitation of guilt
anger you know all of those things so that's what it's really about and the mirrored room is me fting my own demons to be able to be free and then the the end of it is me dancing and the freedom and all that she has gone into detail on this on different platforms when I was three I was and um by an older person now I knew as a child that I did nothing wrong and and that this wasn't my fault um but I have found forgiveness in the guilt that I did might have had
like I'm I felt like did I pull this in did I do something at 3 years old no it's a heinous cry Martin Lawrence though is far from the squeaky clean man he pretends to be the standup comedian and actor who made waves in the 1990s has always marched to the beat of his own drum that Fearless attitude was on full display during Martin Lawrence's 1994 appearance on Saturday Night Live but it ended up costing him big time something else concerns me and and it hurts see I'm I'm single I'm a single man I don't
have nobody I'm looking for somebody and and but I'm meeting a lot of women out there and Y you got some beautiful women but you got something out there that uh I got to say something um some of you are not washing your ass properly okay don't don't get me wrong not all some of you you know what I'm saying uh I'm sorry cuz uh listen now I don't know what it is that a woman got to do to to keep up the hygiene on the body I know uh uh I'm watching douche commercials on
television and I'm wondering if some of you are reading the instructions I don't think so you know cuz I'm getting with some of the ladies smelling odors going Wait A Minute girl smell this this you smell yourself girl smell yourself I'll tell a woman in a minute douche douche some women don't like when you tell them that when you straightforward with them douche they forget you you cannot douche all the time you're going to wash all the natural juices out the body I said well I don't give a damn what you do put a Tic
Tac in your put a shirt in your ass oh oh you know it's like a good damn place for a stick up up in I'm sorry y you got to wash properly known for his unpredictable style Lawrence was given the opportunity to host the show in 1994 after days of rehearsals he took the stage for his opening monologue but instead of sticking to the script he went completely off the rails I got to talk about some things the dag on sensors are follow me everywhere around which they get off my oops damn did I slip
it's bothering me man you know you can't say this you can't say that I'm like well how am I going to talk about the world you know I mean I need to talk about something to y'all can I can I do can I talk to y'all I mean I I I hope the kids AR bed you know because I got to talk y'all um something concerns me real deeply you know uh and it's crazy uh and no fella has come up to me none of the brothers anybody it's and act like it's concerned them as
much as it has me um the ladies in the 90s have licensed to cut off the ply Packers yep they got licensed to cut your thing off man and this scares me okay because I know women are mad in the '90s especially white women I mean this is the year where they smashing knees and cutting the py Packers off you know what I'm saying but I mean I feel for that man though man I feel for him cuz you took his thing man you know what I'm saying he can't do this he ain't ever going
to really be able to do this you know if you can't do this in your life something's missing you know what I'm saying and the lady cut it off man and cut it off while he was sleep see and he ain't even know it was gone but then he launched into a bizarre rant about female anatomy and personal hygiene which many found offensive and grotesque then you know cuz I'm a man I like to kiss on women you know I like to kiss all over their bodies you know but if you're you're not clean in
your proper areas I can't you know kiss all over the places I want to kiss you know some women will let you go down you know what I'm saying knowing they got a yeast infe I'm sorry sorry come up with d all on your damn lip got a bagel and a croissant on your lip anybody got any B I like jelly on M but look here y'all we got a great show for you tonight cuz I'm here that's right the comments sparked over 200 complaints led to protests from several of SNL's sponsors and ultimately resulted
in Lawrence being permanently banned from the show he was on top of the world in the early '90s but things started to go downhill for him later in the decade in 1997 he was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery after allegedly assaulting someone according to CBS News he avoided prison time instead receiving two years of Probation and community service it was clear that Lawrence was going through a rough patch and yet somehow now he has managed to recover his reputation with bad boys for alongside Will Smith you know we agreed after like Bad Boys 2
you know that we would never like come back to this franchise without a story that deserved to be uh attached to this franchise what do you think about Martin Lawrence let us know in the comments
