the 2017 draft had a lot of amazing players but one always stood out [Applause] it's Jason Tatum four-time NBA All-Star last year's Eastern Conference Finals MVP and now he just dropped his own shoe the Tatum won I had to test it [Music] oh [Music] foreign [Music] what's good YouTube Jay Jones here and today I'm going to give you my thoughts on the Jason Tatum one the Tatum one I'll try to make this precise but as informative as possible so that you have the information you need before purchasing let's get into it right away one of
the features I think we should start with is the traction the Tatum one has a pattern outsole but it's made of foam there's not a traditional full rubber compound used here which in my opinion would have taken this sneaker to the next level I mean I get it the thought was to be as minimal as possible while still being able to grip the cord okay I got you and I believe this is the lightest sneaker in the Jordan brand line right now and that's cool and all hell yeah you know what I'm saying that's straight
but we still need nice traction though hell yeah I do feel that the forefoot was a little more consistent than the heel when looking to stick plant cut all of that with the two rubber areas up top now you know I'm always on my toes when I hoop like most hoopers are so I get the rubber being placed here place it where it's used most I get you but the back of the sneaker is just mold it foam and it doesn't really grip the cord like you think potato one should it doesn't really have grooves
it's pretty flat overall for sure made for indoors and not outside now it wasn't really bad you know two of the three slides Stuck Like Glue and this is a pretty used cord light people use this cord every day so I couldn't really complain about that overall the traction design could have been better for sure at least the second half of the sneaker where the heel is I mean in my opinion they could have put a little something back here I mean I know majority of basketball players are playing on you know their toes and
that's fine but it's kind of one of those things where it's like you don't need it until you need it you feel me that's why there's so many ball players who hoop in kyries because you have multi-directional traction all over that way you're covered at all times you don't really get that here but again it's not terrible but I do think there's room for improvement in this category now y'all know me I'm old school give me a little rubber herringbone all the way through and I'm cool that'll take the traction to the next level in
my opinion that's just me though now let's talk about the materials real quick the Tatum One features a lightweight Lino weave upper for breathability and a minimalistic feel that many should enjoy it's thin pretty well ventilated and one of the best features on the Tatum one in my opinion Linda weave is just another way of saying you have a nice mesh knit upper the same material Choice that's found on the 37 which is a good look in my opinion I've become an upper guy I like having soft lightweight materials on foot and the Lino weave
provides that it's lightweight but also strong enough to keep your foot in place at the same time not much break in time is needed here if any at all and this is a nice balanced material choice and something I believe is perfect for Jason Tatum now let's talk about another feature on the shoe the cushioning now the cushioning is another area that I was expecting to experience something crazy but it was kind of average I'm not gonna lie you do have a large four foot Zoom unit and it's there it's unlocked but not like you
think hey I figured right away that the zoom unit would be unlocked because you can see it right through the sneaker that's a nice touch Jordan brand with I don't mind that I like that it's a nice size unit which is dope low-key but it just doesn't give that bounce back that I was expecting I don't know it's like linking up with the fitness chick online like oh on IG you looking right you know what I'm saying nice angles you strong in the gym okay in person I ain't gonna lie you kind of you kind
of finesse me I'm gonna be you kind of hold me jerk I know y'all remember the unlocked zoom on the 28th the 28 was crazy Zoom bag popping left and right ah damn good times I mean even on the 29 one of the best Jordans ever y'all remember right you can still feel the unlocked Zoom when they fixed the issue you had a little bounce back it was it was there I was just kind of expecting to Tatum one to feel like that you don't get that vibe in the Tatum one I need these Zoom
bags popping nah that's too far though we don't want them popping that ain't you get what I mean there's no cushion in the back the hill is pretty much made from the phone provided throughout the sneaker again similar to the traction the heel area is kind of left there hanging meaning if you're a heel Striker this might not be the one for you now it's not a terrible cushioning setup overall I think I was just expecting a little more with this type of setup but you can still get down give out some buckets and do
what you need to without question now the fit in lockdown are both pretty solid on the Tatum one as well to me this was the most emphasized feature on the sneaker again I feel like the fit in lockdown will really emphasized I feel like Jordan brand and Tatum came together to create something light sturdy and something to have nice containment and that was accomplished here I mean the entire sneaker is made from TPU and the foam that we talked about earlier the TPU the black pieces that you see here is used to keep your foot
in place this is wrapped around the entire sneaker for enhanced support on both the medial and lateral sides creating a very stable experience when hooping I mean Loki it kind of creates a little barrier for your foot when you're hooping it in it I like it there's also a padded ankle collar for increased ankle support as well and the shoe has a nice overall fit with this sneaker running through the side so if you wear that 10 hell yeah just get that 10. sure overall the Tatum one is just simply that his first signature basketball
sneaker there's parts to like about it but there's also room for improvement on other parts as well and that's usually how a debut sneaker is W material choice but weird traction design but hey it'll get you by though uncaged Zoom you can see it but minimal bounce back is it unlocked or not now I do like how open and minimal they kept the sneaker it is a light shoe pretty much only made of foam TPU and little weave now once they throw some herringbone on the bottom and make the cushioning setup identical to the 29
Jordan Brandon you got my attention I feel like that's gonna be perfect for Tatum I mean Tatum probably already got that but you get it they couldn't give us all that on day one huh I don't know why I'm acting like I don't know that you're not getting you can't get all that for the first one you gotta Get You Gotta Give something to work towards it's Tatum one not Tatum four You Gotta Give something to Incline to increase the price eventually I get it I understand I just know what's possible I feel like that's
the problem Jordan brand was having if I'm being honest with like the 28 to 29 maybe even the 30 like everything was pretty much the same because it worked so well after that they tried to switch it up a little bit because it's like people kept feeling like they were buying the same shoe but it's like to me it's like if it work it worked you know what I'm saying I say they should have just stopped at the 29 and just kept changing colors still be buying them that's just me though but again not bad
for a debut sneaker you know what I'm saying it is light if you like something light and you like Jason Tatum and you like the qualities that I mentioned that are nice on the sneaker like the material Choice then you know this is a solid pickup for you I'm giving these a three and a half out of five man three and a half out of five stars for me I feel like there's room for improvement and you know it's Jordan brand they'll improve on it but that's it for me man thank you guys for watching
