hi there my name is Danielle Sullivan in charge of Northeast District Partnerships for KH Academy and I'm excited that you are interested in partnering with us with con Migo and Con Academy for districts in this short demo I'm going to give you an overview of the product and some of the things you can expect as part of the district partnership and if you are excited by what you see please book time to meet with me and I'd be happy to talk through how we can provide these solutions for your District your students and your Educators
in this demo I'm going to share with you how Kingo works three different ways it works alongside Con Academy content and what's called companion mode there are learner activities for students where students can use these activities with any grade level content or any content and then there's also a variety of teacher tools to help save teachers time let's start by first showing you how K Mingo Works alongside Con Academy content Con Academy is very versatile teachers can use this in a variety of ways it's flexible it's high quality teachers can use this as supplement to
their core content remediation acceleration they can assign KH Academy content to students for homework support in-class support so let's have the idea that students are working on equivalent expressions in class or or they're working on this at home and they're stuck this is where kigo really help first of all I want to point out a couple of features for you we do not want students to share personal data we do not collect personal data we do log the chats but we log that as data for you we are not sharing this back with open AI
kigo can have text to speech speech to text it also speaks English Spanish Portuguese and Hindu fluently but it can be translated in other languages as well the first thing students might ask are why should I care about learning about this a lot of times especially mathematics when students are struggling they want to make sure that the math is relevant to them so what kigo says understanding equivalent expressions is important because it helps you simplify and solve algebraic problems more easily how can this be useful for you so kigo has been prompt engineered to be
a true Socratic tutor it is is not going to give students the answers like the next thing students might say is give me the answer it's not going to give students the answer it's designed to press their thinking and support them in the moment so they can uncover the answer themselves as you can see I can't give the answer directly but what do you notice there are some light prompting available for the students here but another thing is maybe students are really interested in something like explain this to me in terms of football There's an
opportunity for students to add what they're interested in and like a good tutor if this tutor or kigo knows what students are interested in it's going to start to relate the learning to what students are interested in so here it's going to start to relate this math in terms of football that's just what really good teachers and tutors do so this is called compion mode the other opportunity that we have for students there's a variety of learning activities outside of KH Academy content the first section are called tutor me that's where students can engage with
kigo around math and science or Humanities teachers also have the opportunity to assign these to students I was working with a high school science teacher who assigned the tutor me science to students to really um talk through lunar cycles there's also opportunities for students to practice knowledge they can have some test prep practice or if teachers want students to really engage in understanding um you know quizzing themselves on different knowledge the section's great for that they can debate kigo on a variety of topics there's they're uh broken up by Middle School elementary school and high
school you can also chat with a literary character this is really exciting because if they're reading Shakespeare these characters will help them dig deeper into the content that they're learning there's a series of a variety of Word level activities as well as opportunities for students to explore College and Career growth ideas and then students can add their own interest to kigo I do want to highlight one particular feature in the learner activities and that's called writing coach not sure if you know but students are supposed to be writing in middle school and high school for
60 minutes a day I can guarantee a lot of your students are not writing for 60 minutes a day so this was designed actually by a former Ela teacher trying to solve for having 180 students in your classroom and how do you really comment and connect with students around their writing so the way this works is a teacher will assign this essay now they create the assignment title we're supporting grades 7th through 12th grade currently we're also supporting persuasive explanatory literary analysis once they assign the essay students will go in and they have their own
writing coach experience and it walks them through the writing process from understanding the prompt to outlining then Drafting and they have kigo here side by side every step of the way if they're stuck they need support they have questions and then the final piece is revision kigo is going to give suggestions to improve students essays but it's not going to grade it for them another guardrail we have is if students are writing their essay they go and cut and paste from chat gp4 it will flag it for teachers we're trying to make sure that students
and teachers have the right Tools around writing so that is called writing coach and again that's part of the learner activities and the final pieces of kigo are the teacher tools now I feel like we have enough teacher tools but not too many teacher tools they're organized by planning creating differentiating support and learning the other part of the partnership is that chat GPT comes with the partnership our teacher tools are free but as part of the partnership you have access to student facing Socratic tutor it's the only way to do that is through our district
partnership and then teachers also have chat gp4 and then they have the ability to use AI to summarize what students are talking to kigo about these tools are designed to save teachers time they're similar to other AI tools but for us they're also pulling from KH Academy content first the final piece I'm going to show you is if you are using KH Academy cont content in your classes if your teachers are using this because the partnership comes with automatic rostering through clever or class link and you have access to all of our amazing courses so
if your teachers are using Khan Academy and they want to say you know I'm curious what are my students doing in KH Academy over the last seven days yes this data updates every seven days you can come to class snapshot and then ask H me go you know what group my class by these recommendations I know many of your middle school and high school Educators potentially struggle with small group instruction so what this does not only does it group students tells you what you can assign to the students but even better now we know that
linear equations with unknown coefficients is an area of need or a next step for a group of students now I'm back in companion mode and I'm going to ask Han Migo teacher version give me small group Student Center rotations dealing with a winter theme and spelling does not matter so now what I'm doing is this is just what really good Educators do I'm taking data informed instructions so what my students need but I want to make it a little bit more interesting so now I've created small group rotations snowflake equations Igloo building blocks hot coco
math I could even ask kigo to push a little bit further with what this teacher-led instruction would look like and then I could add a lesson hook or an exit ticket I could even Create a quiz from this but this is the way that our teacher tools work alongside KH Academy content and that is also called companion mode so in conclusion what comes with a district partnership automatic rostering through clever or class link you have access to all of our con academic courses teacher tools including chat GPT and the ability to use AI to summarize
