can you become a VA in the next 24 hours what's up everyone I'm Erin I teach virtual assistants how to run thriving businesses and if I were going to start a business in 2024 here are the five things that I would do within the next 24 hours to set myself up for Success number one we need to get into the business owner mindset and truly mindset is half of owning a business instead of Simply following instructions I want you to view yourself as a business owner who's partnering with and ensuring your client success now that
kind of mindset shift means that you are taking initiative you're suggesting ideas you're proactively solving problems for your client your skills and your expertise have value but if you keep yourself in a small mindset shift that you're just an assistant that you're just a doer babe you're not you're not an employee you're a business owner the next thing I would do today is I would assess my current skills and strengths one one of my favorite things that I do is a skills assessment and I even do this for myself like once a year do a
very simple brainstorm where I basically write down a list of all the skills and services that I'm currently offering things that I think I could be offering things that I'm interested in things that I've noticed other clients are asking for it's this huge brainstorm where I write absolutely everything and anything down then I will go through the list and I will cross out things that either cannot be done remotely and and I'll cross out things that I think you know what I I don't have a passion for or I don't see myself doing this for
the Long Haul and then I'll cross out items that I think is this actually in demand do clients want this skill and are they willing to pay for it so it's this kind of a skills and strengths assessment that can really help you today start figuring out what services you're going to offer in your business number three I would identify the services and the niches that I'm going to offer in my business a lot of your core skills are going to going to come from your skills assessment what can you do well what do you
have schooling in or a background in or what have you worked in in previous jobs and can any of those be translated to your business as a VA now quick heads up services that are in demand and clients are willing to pay for change year after year which is why I do this kind of skills assessment so regularly for my own business next I would set rates and I would price my services now the rates is a video unto itself that I could talk about for hours and hours and hours rates is one of the
more notoriously hard things to set as a VA but to give you a starting point if you're in North America or you hope to work with clients in North America General starting rates for General vas who are brand new just getting their business off the ground fall anywhere from 20 to $25 an hour if you're located elsewhere in the world you do have to do some due diligence and some research to figure out what the going market rate is for your area and the clients that you're working with last but not least I would create
systems and workflows for my business from day one if I could go back in time 10 years ago and tell myself one thing it would be start systems and note down your workflows as you build them out systems are all about building success for your business I'm going to give you a quick example imagine that you set a goal for yourself to land 10 clients by the end of this month well it's a great Target it might become overwhelming as you try to pitch your services to 10 different people might start adopting unsustainable habits like
maybe your pitches are sloppy you stop researching the clients that you want to work with and you are just like letting pitch emails fly cuz you're like it's a numbers game well guess what with a system based approach you can instead focus on building great habits that you can replicate and repeat so rather than just blasting people with pitches and cold pitches everywhere if you have a system that helps you build good habits like how to research clients that are looking for VAs what kind of pipelines can you build for following up with them how
do you want to pitch them how are you tracking your pitches how do you know your successful if you have no clue how many people you are successfully pitching or not systems for your business are living entities they evolve they adapt they improve so do not get discouraged if it takes you a little bit of time to find the right systems for your business all you have to do is experiment explore and most importantly enjoy your journey so those are the things that I would do if I was hoping to start a VA business in
the next 24 hours
