not forgive your sins these words show us that our ability to receive forgiveness from God is directly tied to our willingness to forgive others but let's be clear when we talk about forgiveness it's not about excusing the wrong that's been done to us it doesn't mean the pain we've experienced isn't real or that there won't be consequences for those actions instead forgiveness is about choosing to let go of the need for revenge or Justice on our own terms it's about trusting God to handle the outcome Jesus gave us the ultimate example of forgiveness on the
cross as he was being crucified he prayed father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing can you imagine that in his most excruciating moment Jesus chose forgiveness he didn't wait for an apology he forgave even while he was being wronged that is the essence of of Grace think for a moment about your own life think of a time when someone hurt you maybe it was a friend who betrayed your trust maybe a family member let you down or perhaps someone at work treated you unfairly the pain you felt was real and
the anger may have felt overwhelming but now consider how holding on to that bitterness has affected you does it bring you peace or does it weigh you down keeping you from living the full life that God desires for you Jesus tells a powerful story about forgiveness in Matthew 18 it's the parable of the unforgiving servant a servant owed his King an enormous debt so large he could never repay it but out of compassion the king forgave him later that same servant refused to forgive someone who owed him a much smaller amount when the king found
out he was Furious and reinstated the servants debt the message is clear we are called to forgive because we have been forgiven much God has forgiven us a debt we could never repay our sin if we truly understand the grace we've received how can we withhold that same Grace from others forgiveness is not just a spiritual concept it has very real implications for our everyday lives when we choose to forgive we release the chains of anger bitterness and resentment that weigh us down we find Freedom and peace in our own hearts in Ephesians 43132 we
are reminded get rid of all bitterness rage and anger brawling and slander along with every form of malice be kind and compassionate to one another forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you today more than ever we live in a world that thrives on Division and anger whether it's in our families our communities or even in our churches forgiveness is the key to Healing broken relationships it's choosing love over hatred peace over conflict Unity over division but let's be honest sometimes forgiveness feels impossible the pain is too deep the hurt too fresh that's
