I was not convinced that Yeshua wasn't the Messiah even when I look deep into the rinic text I found that the sound bites of 21st century rinic Judaism doesn't match their sources so even when I looked at the tamic text the commentaries of the rabbis it pointed to Yeshua being the Messiah meaning that some of the voices of the New Testament lined up with even the voices of the rabbis really yeah so your your challenge to people would be hey look in the talmood yourself you know cuz I hear we can't read the New Testament
we won't read the New Testament it's forbidden for Jewish people to read the test New Testament we would encourage people to go into rinic uh commentaries yeah to actually find the Messiah for sure yeah and find hints of the Messiah yeah so if that's the case why wouldn't more Orthodox Jews consider Jesus yeah there's an interesting passage in the book of Corinthians one of the Corinthians where it talks about there's a veil over the Jewish people right that they can't see the Messiah but when we go back to Moses it wasn't the people that were
veiled in the Torah it was Moses that was veiled Moses is a standing for the law so I would say the Torah even though they may look at it and perceive it it's veiled and they've even added more layers of the veil through their own interpretation and authoritative commentary and this just shows a shallowness of even understanding the law because the the law was malleable and when I say that the laws had adaptations to it even before they make it to the promised land there's there's situations throughout the Torah specifically where Moses doesn't know what
to do after the Ten Commandments are given right the people go up to Moses and say Moses what do we got to do now right what do we do in this new situation Moses goes up and adapts a law for the current condition and the current condition that we're in is the condition of the New Covenant which is the Covenant of Messiah Yeshua so jermiah 31 so that's what we're under right now so the Torah has gone through further adaptations like it says in Hebrews 7:12 when there's a change of a priesthood there's a change
of the law interesting interesting so so the concept of not adding or taking away how does that actually make sense well I think we have to operate in the spirit of the law right it's always been by the spirit of the law okay it's never been about the actual letter of the law if you even look at the curses in Deuteronomy the curses of Deuteronomy really call for the total annihilation of the people who are breaking God's way and God's truth the Jewish people never annihilated because of that they were always held in in Mercy
and always God showed them Grace and kindness always so he never held them down to the letter of law it was always a spirit of law from the beginning okay so understanding the spirit of the law is um is the right way to interpret it interesting so you have a very interesting history yeah um I want to talk about that a bit sure um because it's a very sensitive subject and it's I think it's a stumbling Glock for many Jewish people to actually consider G Jesus can you get into that a bit yeah for sure
sure so my family were we were brought up Catholic um brought up Catholic we have a a Spanish Jewish Heritage of forced conversions of the Spanish Jews okay so in the time of the Inquisition many Spanish Jewish people were forced to become Catholic under threat of death okay forced baptism forced emerence forced to eat pork and that's where my family came from Wow and so they didn't know they were Jewish they knew they were Jewish at the time they were they they assimilated into Catholic culture sure yeah for sure and then the generations go by
and what happens to the Jewish people they so essentially these Traditions are hidden in the family and so they did things like covering mirrors uh lighting Shabbat candles so they're they're observing this crypto Jewish identity and some know of the Jewish history some don't know of the Jewish origins of the family and many people have even um continue those practices in secret and then come to find out later on that they're Jewish and this is even something within rinic Judaism itself that they have the concept of a TBA which means a child raised in captivity
so even a Jewish child who's raised in captivity amongst the Nations that person is still a Jew according to rabic literature text so your family uh was actually practicing Judaism in secret maintaining their Jewish identity in secret and outwardly being a part of the Catholic church and even sometimes losing the knowledge of that Jewish identity and eventually grabbing it back on later which is a shame for sure you know it's a shame and so um how do the generations unfold to come to a place where where the Jewish identity is reintroduced yeah and they can
openly Proclaim their their Jewish identity yeah and and then then you know that begs the question how do you become a follower of Jesus in all of this so when I became 18 I decided I want to go to a Bible College and there in his Bible College I met a Messianic Jewish person at this at this uh church at this school yeah ni College County New York Rabbi David Rosenberg and he told me that many Jewish people many Spanish people actually have Jewish Heritage and I was like this is nuts I grew up in
Brooklyn I know what Jewish people look like that's not me right did research and some my family history and found out that we have many many sapharic Spanish Jewish Traditions that aren't just in the Torah itself but based upon the rinic tradition like lighting Shabbat candles like like things like um certain prayers certain blessings certain formula things we did uh observing the purity of after you have a child for a certain amount of time of not touching the baby certain things like that belief in the evil eye found out through my family tree that many
of the people of my mother's side direct matal Lally went to the areas that Jewish people um were from in Spain in in Puerto Rico wow so take me forward you you got into some some some stuff yeah in your life you had a rough uh period of time um let's get into that a bit because um it's important to give a little bit of a context of where you came from to where you are now yeah so I grew up in Brooklyn which is the birthplace of hip-hop or hip-hop music background culture all that
stuff I was into all that so that's where I grew up at so when I start I grew I have WR tumultous background my father was was an alcoholic I came from a very broken family although they loved us yeah very much I don't believe that they had the tools really to raise us they weren't Believers and that sort of thing so there was a lot of Brokenness so when I became um when I started going to nightclubs when I was 20 years old what did I want to do Jeff I want to be the
DJ that's right right so what did I do I went on became a DJ that led me to drinking and drunking this for 10 whole years of my life wow so from 21 all the way until I was 32 basically 11 years drinking partying being a womanizer a lot of Brokenness a lot of hurt and pain and so I had to reconcile with that with the faith that I was finding out and professing and the Jewish identity Al together was difficult for me that's that's that's a lot of balagan we would say you know a
lot balagan for sure for sure and I'm talking about Jeff like drunkenness being outside of nightclubs wrestling with how do I find how do I fix the Brokenness I had and build this relationship with Yeshua so I had been uh building with this congregation which is uh Beth Gore where I serve as the rabbi now but the senior Rabbi was Mark shman okay and he became like a father to me and tried to pull me along to walk right but of course I wasn't wasn't choosing it right we've got to make that decision ourselves and
for me I held on to the ways of the world and and wrestle with this thing about Yeshua it wasn't until I decided to get sober I had met my wife we were going to start working on getting married then my life began to find balance and I remember the last time that I really really got drunk drunk like really really drunk yeah I looked up and I thought to myself this is not what the Lord had for me the that there's something missing in my life I don't have completeness I don't have fullness there's
more to life you know how scripture says God plac etern in the hearts of men right that there was this eternity that God had inside of me that I believe that was coming out and the Lord was calling me to go to that deeper place with him and from that point on I began to press forward and press forward now it wasn't always easy you know when you don't drink when you are Dr when you are a drinker from 20 to 30 you don't mature you don't deal with your emotional problems with your emotional issues
so when I got sober finally I've been sober for almost eight years now when I finally did get sober I had to work through a lot of that emotional trauma so at that point when I got sober I became more invested in the congregation I let Rabbi Mark know that I wanted to become a rabbi he began to bring me up as a son in that and uh from then on I received ordination in the imcs amazing I I can see I can see right now a lot of our Jewish people might be watching this
going but why not Judaism why not Judaism why not just come back to your roots well the thing is in 2007 uh there was a book written which was called The Return of the kosher Pig okay and that book was like my primer to rinic Judaism okay we dealt with the idea of the Divine Messiah from rinic text and although we all don't agree about everything right this was my first real introduction to rinic Judaism from after that I did an undergrad in Jewish studies and religion studies where we studied Jewish philosophy Jewish text rinic
literature did the Hebrew language and from then on I examined many many rabic texts God has allowed me to be able to engage with them you Dove deep into so deep Rabbi scripture to 100% Y and at that point I was at a crossroad ah at that point it was difficult for me because although my belief in Yeshua was very strong and I had a confidence in belief at this point I'm training to become a Messianic Rabbi I'm studying with the imcs I'm in a uh uh rabbit Market is raising me up to do this
thing I always had the option to go ahead and become an orthodox Rabbi okay I could have gone off and done that I would have gone back to an orthodox synagogue I would have gotten a certificate of return as the descendants of the banim they would have welcomed me back and I could have gone to Yeshiva University totally for free and received an ordination as an orthodox rabi but yet you weren't convinced through a deep dive into Rabin commentary and and writing that that was the truth no absolutely not instead I found the opposite when
you dig deeply into the rinic text you hear Echoes of the New Testament writers such as Divine Messiah two comings of Yeshua then this necessity for the Messiah to understand the Torah even properly wait wait this is in Rabin commentary RAB com not the New Testament 100% okay in Rabbi commentaries it teaches us that the Messiah will give us a new Torah that he will give 30 new Commandments even in Rabbi literature they believe that King David Joshua all these other men of the faith have amended the Torah through what's called takote and garot these
are stringencies and leniencies so if we have the men of old the prophets of old who could amend adapt the Torah for a current condition how much more so the Messiah so when I look into the rabbi text the rabbi text point to Yeshua and in many of their voices now we're not saying as as some people might say well a lot of rabbis don't believe that Yeshua is the Messiah we're not saying that the Rabin rabbis believe Yeshua is a messiah right we're saying that the what Rabin Judaism teaches in many of its places
line up with the New Testament this is why I could not go into rabic Judaism because the New Testament is Jewish it's a Jewish book with a Jewish text that points at the Jewish Messiah with the expectation of first century that's something that most people most Jewish people wouldn't know no that this new testament is not theirs it's not other then and we get criticized a lot yeah um I do even personally for deceiving the Jewish people to making them think that the New Testament is a Jewish thing and we put words around it and
we add uh comments and we say it in a specific way to make it sound Jewish and at home for the Jewish person yet this is you know when when when an orthodox rabbi comes and says to me you need to go back to your roots young man I say our roots are the tanak yeah cuz I know what he's referring to he's R he's referring to talmudic rinic Judaism yeah no no no it's not which is post yeah New Testament 100% so let's talk a little bit about the jewishness of the New Testament yeah
we have portions in the book of Acts where it says there there were myriads thousands of Jewish Believers and they were zealous for the law of the Torah right jewishness of a text a Jewish guy born in Israel raised up in there whose mother's name was Miriam his father's name was Joseph obviously virgin birth but his father's name is Joseph right he he went through all of the things circumcised on the eighth day all of these things it is a thoroughly thoroughly Jewish text that's embedded within the Judaism of the first century and see the
difference is most people say oh they were rabbis and Rabbi Judaism goes further back but that's false the first person ever called Rabbi in history was John the immerser John the Baptist okay person in text is Yeshua the Messiah himself called Rabbi as well so I believe that it is the the Believers in Yeshua the New Testament who have a greater claim to this to this to this Rich history and Heritage even in written texts and so that's why for me I couldn't go back to rabbinic judism because if if the premise is whatever is
older is more authoritative the New Testament is older than the oral Torah New Testament is older than Rabbi literature the New Testament is older in all those things before there was an AA there's Rabbi Yeshua right oh but the but the the oral Torah goes all the way back to Moses on Mount Si and it a as a as a oral binding Authority for the Jewish people handed down from generation to generation unbroken yeah tell me about that they say that well it's impossible for it to be it's impossible for it to be because when
the Torah was given on Moses on Mount s it says he wrote down all the words of God right so the premise for the rabbis is that the oror was given on Mount sa why is it that afterwards when the daughters of zad a woman comes up to Moses and says hey we want to inherit the land our father has no Sons the Torah says only Sons can inherit it what happens Moses has to go up to God why is Moses going back up to God if he already received the or Torah Mount Si so
Moses didn't know what to do showing us that there's no authoritative unbroken chain right now this isn't saying that Judaism or the Jewish people don't have a tradition right right a tradition is fine the thing is is this tradition authoritatively binding for all time on the Jewish people and absolutely it's not wow when you go into the Promised name Joshua 1 eight what do you have to do the words that are written written right that by this is the Covenant that I'm making with this is how you're going to go into the land so it
was always what was written that was authoritative for the Jewish people amazing amazing and actually when I look through the tanak I see so much evidence for Jesus so much so much evidence that points to Jesus we have prophecy we have a narrative MH that points us towards a a coming One MH that will fulfill specific prophecy yeah come a specific time do specific things yeah and yet I haven't found the oral Torah or a mention of it anywhere you can't there there's no evidence of it I would love to see some what's fascinating is
that when people have a tradition or there's things that people do we find it in history yeah the other people record this there's no recording of a binding authoritative oral Torah that goes back to Moses on Mount son even the phrase Torah shabal Torah on the mouth the oral Torah doesn't exist until the 1200s in a rabic commentary okay so let's fast forward you're cleaned up by the spirit of God Amen and you go into Ministry yeah you have your awesome YouTube channel radar apologetics where you really dismantle all the rabbi objections to Jesus as
Messiah very articulate very well educated and I want to recommend people go check that out how do you get to that point well it was it's born out of this discussion I was having internally of where does the Rabin literature fit in our expression as Jews worshiping Yeshua Jesus same question that Jews for Jesus has had to deal with that the imcs all these organizations have to deal with how are we Jews who believe in Jesus so as I examined the Rabin text since I was Finding so much evidence of Yeshua evidence of Jesus evidence
that the New Testament is Jewish evidence that the new New Testament claims of kosher I found it as a I really felt a call from the Lord to take those things to the masses right because it's it's a closed book people have ACC to it but to take these arguments to the masses these evidence to the masses that the Torah the talud the oror that you're looking at has room for Yeshua it has room for Jesus it has room for the Messiah yeah and when we look at it we see him we see Yeshua in
the text even in the Tanakh itself it and it was so insane to me think about the prophet Zechariah what does he say cuz I I had a I was refuting a rabbi a few days ago online on my YouTube channel and he said Jesus he's not in the Torah he's not in the T you can't find his name why because he didn't exist people don't understand there's imagery typology foreshadowing the prophet Zachariah when he's writing he talks about it and you have Joshua the high priest there in dirty clothes Joshua the high priest gets
cleaned up right and what does he say this man is a symbol of the Branch to come who is the branch unanimously the Messiah the Messiah is going to be a priest and what's Joshua's name in Hebrew Yeshua yahoshua and Aramaic Yeshua and the portions of Naz they call him Yeshua we see the name of the Messiah directly in there and I think when I engage with Rabin literature there's a disconnect sometimes from what the Tanakh says but yet also echoing the truth and reality of who Yeshua is so to navigate that is something that
I believe Lord that's what we do on radar apolog things like that yeah and your your your your videos are so entertaining and engaging it's a wonderful combination between entertainment and education yeah for sure but you you just bring out your talents and your gifts and I don't know how you do all this stuff all at the same time you're entertaining you're off the cuff but at the same time you go really deep into uh Rabbi literature Rabbi commentary and the truth of the New Testament as the logic continuation of The Narrative of the tanak
which points towards Yeshua the Messiah and this is what the Lord wants to do in all of us right he wants to take whatever the feris the sex is are whatever we learn in this world yeah God is looking to bring it back together and to use it for his glory and that's what I did so that's why when I live stream I have the turn tables there I've got the screens up we're streaming we got sound effects explosion things are going off but what are we doing we're doing it as an offering to the
Lord right pleasing a ro him that he that it can be something that can bring forth fruit as he fills it with his spirit I think he wants do that with all of us right I agree so if you want to learn a lot about the topics that we've been speaking about today go to radar apologetics And subscribe to his video and hit the notification so you can be notified by new video you put up a lot of content yeah for sure a lot of regular content which is great um you're a teacher M and
a rabbi so you're the associate Rabbi at Congregation conation Beth elore House of the Mighty God yeah Congregation Beth elgore you're a teacher yeah you know and so if you want to learn by a great teacher you can go check out his work on uh radar apologetics so let's say somebody's watching right now and they're thinking to themselves you know when I was younger Catholics threw rocks at my head yeah cuz I was Jewish my ancestors were persecuted by Catholics and Christians I will never believe in Jesus because that's not for us what would you
tell that Jewish person well I think that having this uh we need to have an understanding that just because someone Bears the name of Catholic or Christian doesn't mean they represent the Christ and represent the Messiah when you look into the new Testament you won't find one drop of anti-Semitism rather you will find the hope of Abraham which is ultimately for that seed that would come we're not talking about Isaac we're not talking about Jacob we're not talking about the 12 trib we're talking about the seed from Genesis 3:15 that would destroy the work of
the serpant this is the Messiah who will come this is why our faith as Messianic Jews is the same Faith as Abraham ultimately that seed would come that would reconcile the world to God the true tun right the restar world through that Messiah so what is cath what people say they were Christians they say they were catholic if they are not following the New Testament then they're not right we need to look at the Messiah and point towards him wow good point and like you said before in the beginning of the video it's our faith
is based on the spirit of the law amen the spirit of the law and why did the Jewish people need the law in the first place to point to the Messiah to point to the Messiah and not only that but to become God's representation on Earth separate people a separate people unique yeah and separate people so man thank you so much much for sharing your testimony and your wisdom and your YouTube channel let's give one more plug for your YouTube channel yep the YouTube channel is radar apologetics and uh we're streaming four or five times
