I want to ask you something when you think of the Holy Spirit what comes to mind when you think of the Holy Spirit do you think about his role in your life do you think about whether you have opened the door to your heart for the Holy Spirit to really come in and teach you to counsel you to lead you into the things of God I'd like to read a short passage of scripture that demonstrates one of the many roles that the Holy Spirit has in the life of a believer acts 8 verses 26-38 the
Bible says as for Philip an angel of the Lord said to him go south down the desert road that runs from Jerusalem to Gaza so he started out and he met the treasurer of Ethiopia a eunuch of great Authority Under the candate the queen of Ethiopia the eunuch had gone to Jerusalem to worship and he was now returning seated in his Carriage he was reading aloud from the book of the prophet Isaiah the holy spirit said to Philip go over and walk along beside the carriage Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the
prophet Isaiah Philip asked do you understand what you are reading the man replied how can I unless someone instructs me and he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him the passage of scripture he had been reading was this he was led like a sheep to the slaughter and as a lamb is silent before the shearers he did not open his mouth he was humiliated and received no justice who can speak of his descendants for his life was taken from the Earth the eunuch asked Philip tell me was the prophet talking
about himself or someone else so beginning with this same scripture Philip told him the good news about Jesus as they rode along they came to some water and the eunuch said look there's some water why can't I be baptized he ordered the carriage to stop and they went down into the water and Philip baptized him now I want to pick out what the Bible says in verse 29. the Bible says the holy spirit said to Philip go over and walk along beside the carriage now it was the Holy Spirit that prompted Philip to go and
meet the Ethiopian eunuch people of God as the Holy Spirit ever prompted you to do something or has he ever spoken to you ever so softly not to do something not to go somewhere you see the Holy Spirit Led Philip to minister about the Gospel of Jesus Christ to someone who was ready to be saved and you and I can be in fact we should seek to be led by the holy spirit in the same way the Holy Spirit can lead you to pray for a family member or for a friend without them ever having
told you anything that they're going through the Holy Spirit can lead you to pick up the phone and offer someone a word of encouragement when they're in a dark place and so what we need to do is be sensitive to his voice and with this in our minds and on our hearts let's go before the Lord and ask him to help us be sensitive to the voice of the holy spirit so that we can not only hear but then also do what the Holy Spirit has instructed because those instructions could change our lives or the
life of someone else dear Lord we pray that we would be the people who are led by the Holy Spirit I pray that the Holy Spirit would lead us in all our actions and deeds [Music] Holy Spirit lead us when it comes to the company we keep [Music] lead us to make wise decisions when it comes to our Inner Circle and to those who are in our circle of influence father lead us to be surrounded by Godly men and women those who will help us in our faith help us not to walk in the counsel
of the wicked nor to stand in the path of sinners father help us not to sit down and rest in the seat of scoffers your word says in Romans 15 verse 13. now may the god of Hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you may abound in Hope by the power of the Holy Spirit I pray that the Holy Spirit would fill us with hope in this world there are so many things that can leave us discouraged there are so many things that come in this life and they threaten to kill
our joy however father I pray that the power of the Holy Spirit will be our source of Hope I pray that the Holy Spirit would be our constant and present reminder of the protection that's offered by Jesus Christ The Grace offered by Jesus Christ and the peace that can be found in only Jesus Christ John 16 verses 7 through 8 says nevertheless I tell you the truth it is to your advantage that I go away for if I do not go away the helper will not come to you but if I go I will send
him to you and when he comes he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment Holy Spirit whenever I'm tempted please convict me in my heart remind me of the price that Jesus Christ paid for me on the cross Holy Spirit I pray that you would work within me so that I would not find any enjoyment or pleasure in sin convict me so that whenever I'm in any kind of sinful environment I pray that I would be unsettled that I would be uneasy in my spirit because if it's not pleasing to you Lord
I don't want to be there I pray that you would give me the desire to remain pure before you Lord John chapter 16 verse 7 says nevertheless I tell you the truth it is to your advantage that I go away for if I do not go away the helper will not come to you but if I depart I will send him to you Lord Jesus I thank you for sending the helper the Holy Spirit whenever we're feeling powerless I pray that the Holy Spirit would help us whenever we are feeling low and feeling tired Holy
