The frustration over why we don't make a deeper inquiry into how people get guns and how much that puts all of us at risk continues to grow. The Senate as you know had legislation for just sensible restrictions on access to guns doing more thorough background checks. We tried more recently to keep people here on the terrorist watch list from being able to buy guns.
And both times were blocked by Republicans in the Senate who just said "No, no, no. " So it is hard to have hope in this Senate that we will make any significant change. But I'll say this: That's what elections are about and I think one of the issues that will come up again in the 2016 election is how we make ourselves safe, what kind of a country we want to be.
And people will have to decide: Do we want to be a country where everyone is armed or do we want to be a country that takes some sensible measures in dealing with guns?
