an unhinged recap of the bridgerton books (part 1)

[Music] hello hi everyone so this is a very different R from what I normally do I read the entire brideson series last month and I wanted to do a recap for you I was planning on getting all eight of the books in one video and then I got tired so this is the first half of the series let me know what you guys think comment down below if you like the video like it I'm going to try and keep this Intro brief but if you're interested in reading these books after I recap their entire plots

um go get them from your local library do I have anything else to say no let's get started on the video hello welcome to my recap setup uh I also turned on the camera and realized there's a glare on both of these so you're just going to have to take my word for it whatever I write up there so today I wanted to break down for you all of the Bridger books not all maybe I Should say because there's a lot of sequels and prequels and spin-off books and stuff like that I'm talking about the

main eight story lines okay so all of the kids so I am going to do a very basic breakdown this is for anyone who has seen the show and is deciding whether they want to get into the books or has heard of the show and is like I would rather read the books first you know like a bunch of stuff like that or if you honestly just want an opinion by Someone who has read all of the books of which ones you should read that's what I'm here for do you have opinions she's going to

be talking all the time also because I'm standing like this is my front door right here so she is probably my cat's probably going to be yelling to be let out most of the video thank you for proving my point anyway welcome to the video let's first get into some background of this series I'm going to give you kind of the major Set up and then like I'm going to introduce you to the Bridgton family and what you kind of need to know about them before you get into this now the book explains all of

this so if you're just like why do I have to hear it from you well you clicked on this recap video I'm just trying to recap for you let's let's talk about my setup first here's my whiteboard my little whiteboard that's going to tell you all of the all of the things uh the part you Can't see now the part you currently can't see just says Bridgton but this part right here says I have never seen this show before which is true so you're getting a perspectives from someone who is not my my opinion of

the books is not tarnished for lack of better word by the TV series now I say tarnished but a lot of what I've heard is that the TV show has like has made the books infinitely better so a really good adaptation great I haven't seen it Can't confirm it for you anyway this one up here just says I've never seen this show before right here it just says Bridgerton because cuz I thought that would be visible but honestly I don't want to close my blinds because the lighting makes me look really good right now so

what else have we got this what I am planning to do on the door there will be two separate rankings this here's this is what you need to know there will be two separate rankings the rankings Will be my rating of the books and then my rating of the couples cuz I know a lot of people can like a book can be totally ruined by the Romantic leads so and my ranking of the books versus the couples is different I am letting you know that right now that's not what this is right now cuz we

haven't started actually ranking the books yet okay cat's up she's going to probably keep screaming unless I'm holding her the r my rankings are all going to be on the Door you're going to see them pop up as the video progresses and I actually recap some of these books right here which you may or may not see I'm going to zoom in in a minute is the Bridgerton family tree so we are going to start there but first first the big thing you need to know about this book series it is it is set in

Regency primarily London in Regency England and a little bit of Scotland but it's Regency time period so if you're thinking about it this is Primarily when like Jane Austin was writing books in Regency England the main purpose of a woman the main goal in life for women particularly the women in these stories the main goal for them is to eventually get married or the societal expectation and the goal of a lot of them is to get married and have children okay so know that going in there is societal sexism issues okay if you're bothered by

that this is not the series for you I think Julia Quinn the Author of this series did a really good job researching the time period that is what I have to say about that let me introduce you to the family we're doing a nice little sorority squat right now because I didn't prepare a chair or anything like that okay so this is the family tree the part you cannot see Edmund who's the father of the Briton the the previous VI count he dies before we even get the chance to meet him the only part where

we're really going to Discuss him very thoroughly is in Anthony's story The vicount who loved me so keep an eye out for him but he is entirely not really integral to the plot at all but Violet Bridgerton Violet Bridgerton is all of the Bridgerton mother obviously she is the vi Countess until Anthony gets married okay I'm going to get a chair well you know actually that kind of works okay so I've sat down now but anyway Violet Violet is the matriarch her entire thing is she Wants to get all of her children married off which

is great we love Violet actually she's genuinely one of my favorite characters in this entire series she has some missteps along the way that we will discuss but overall really good mom she's also very supportive of whoever her children want to to marry like she doesn't have a whole lot of strict rules about like oh they have to be of this class or they have to have this title or stuff like That the Bridgerton family is a very well-off highly socially ranked family I mean they are Vic counts obviously in the hierarchy of things you

have like kings and queens and then princes and prin princesses obviously they're going to be the highest ranked ones under that you have Duke SL duess you have Marquez SL maranas maranes Marquez and maranes I don't know I'll put it on the screen so you guys can see it I don't think that's How it's said but you know under that is the Earl SLC Countess role and then you have by count and by Countess and then under that is Baron so the Bridgerton while they're not like the highest ranked people they're pretty well known like

they are they are Vic counts they are high level nobility and and they are a family that a lot of people are trying to marry into okay particularly people lower class than them a few of the people do marry up and you're going to Hear you're going to hear more about them high level people everybody knows them Violet is canonically friends with a lot of people so they're also just socially very well known by the ton and the ton is a group of people that is like High Society that's the ton we'll talk about them

more when I start explaining lady whistle down and who she is but anyway let's get more into the Bridgerton so the bridgens Edmund and violet have eight kids they are named in Alphabetical order it's one of the very first things you learn about them but you have Anthony Benedict Colin Daphne Eloise Franchesca Gregory and hin I don't know if the names like hope or Hannah or Holly existed but hent think this a weird is an odd Choice like I'm not going to question Julia Quinn because she's clearly made a lot of success off of this

series but you know so you'll learn more about them individually when I start writing down Their books but let's talk about who is who and what order their books come so firstborn Anthony or Anthony I think is the British way you pronounce it Anthony I'm American sorry Anthony is the eldest child he assumed the role of VI count at 18 when his father passed away you're not dying he assumed the role of B count when his dad passed away okay so he's kind of been the head of the family he's the head of the family

pretty much throughout the entire time like violet Is like the hypothetical head of the family she's like the center of family going on and whatever but Anthony is like socially the head of the family Anthony his book is the by count who loved me it's the second book in the series then you have Benedict the second eldest brother his book is the third book an author from a gentleman I'm going to shut you out Benedict second eldest brother he has the third book an offer from a gentleman Colin the third Eldis brother Colin has the

fourth book which is Romancing Mr Bridger 10 and then we have Daphne Daphne is the eldest daughter in the fourth born her book is the Duke and I which is the first book of the series the first one we are going to discuss today then you have Eloise Eloise is the fifth well Eloise is the fifth child and also the second eldest girl she her book is the fifth book and it's To Sir philli with Love and then we're going to get into Franchesca Francesca's book is when he was wicked sixth book and sixth child

third third daughter four girls four boys were making sense Francesca's book is when he was wicked great there's like a very small period of time where we go in order it's like two books though yeah so then we get to Gregory Gregory is the youngest brother fourth brother and seventh born his book is on the way to the wedding yeah on the way to the wedding which is the eighth book and Then we have hent hent is the youngest period fourth daughter eighth child she is a hoot I'm excited to tell her her thing but

her book is it's in his kiss which is the seventh book so that is the very very little breakdown of who is in the family tree now let's go over some more some other important characters that you're going to kind of have to know there are three characters SL sets of characters that are important they are recurring they are people you need To keep an eye on that aren't necessarily love interests and the rule the rule I've said is they have to span multiple books to get onto this list there's only three people that you

need to know like pretty much going into this recap so those three groups of people are the featherington family so the featherington family is porsa featherington is the mom she has four daughters she has Prudence Philipa Penelope and Felicity Penelope is Eloise's age and she becomes really good friends with Eloise later on in the series and then Felicity is highest since age and she and highest and they're always very good friends porsa is like notoriously they call her a matchmaking mama so she's kind of doing the same thing that Violet is doing but the big

thing is the featherington are kind of like a bit of a joke like Porsche is like 10 times the Matchmaker that Violet Is she is very much like inyour face about it and one of the things that they mention is like she makes her daughters the center of attention because her daughters look like idiots so like they mention how Penelope is fat and they talk about how all of the people are wearing colors that absolutely do not make them look good and a bunch of stuff like that so she they that family is mentioned quite

a lot in the first half of the series so I want you to know who They are for whenever I make references to them then we have lady Danbury I don't think they ever say what her official like ranking in is in society but what we do know is she is significantly older she is very involved in the society in the ton and she is at least mentioned I think in seven in seven out of the eight books okay so she is a big deal every time we we as readers are at a ball lady

Denbury is there she only plays major parts in I Want to say two out of the eight but she makes appearances in most of them so she becomes big parts of the story though keep an eye on her and then of course we have lady whistle down I just wrote whistle down here but we have lady whistle down so lady whistledown was created by Julia Quinn as a way that she could provide Exposition without it seeming too awkward it's it's actually very smart whistle down is a gossip columnist but whistle down is obviously Not her

real name no one knows who lady whistledown actually is okay so that is like a big part of the story whistle down is clearly in on everything she's clearly a part of high society because all of her writings detail high society and she like knows what's going on and everyone knows she knows what's going on but no one knows who she is so whistle down is pretty heavily involved like in the first four books the chapters start with like an excerpt from her Society Papers so and they're like I think they say the papers come

out twice a week or something but yeah so whistle down is a huge part of the writing that I can't go over very much because she's very much a presence in the text so you see her a lot more in the text more than she appears in the plot so yeah that is what I have for you on these extra characters so now we are going to get into the first book of the series which is the dupan let's introduce our key players The key players are just people who kind of like incite events oh

shoot Violet should be up here hold on let's stop this is the first book of the series it's the Duke and I it's de's story this story takes place in 1813 okay every book starts with a prologue most of the prologues kind of explain the events of the love interest and kind of set up who the love interest is not always but specifically this one the love interest is s Simon Basset he's The Duke of Hastings remember how I told you Dukes rank higher than than V counts keep that in mind so Simon Basset is

the love interest we are talking about here the prologue details his birth in childhood so when he is born his mother dies as as they do in these time periods you know medicine isn't what it is now so Simon's mother dies the Duke his father didn't particularly care for his wife that much like they were homies and he was like sad to see her go but they Weren't like a love match you remember love match cuz that's like a big thing anyway he's born under those circumstances he is the Duke's only son okay she dies

after giving birth to him so he goes on and grows up he spends most of his time raised by nurses he does not talk for the first several years of his life like just does not say anything and they start getting concerned about it and then when he finally does talk they find that he has A pretty severe stutter so the Duke doesn't disown him like he's still his child but he's immediately like uh get this child away from me he's an idiot okay a lot of ableism is going on here like he because his

son stutters he's like oh my son's an idiot I don't want anything to do with him so Simon grows up and has like a lot of issues between him definitely having a severe stutter that he had to like grow out of and his dad essentially being like Oh I hate you Because you have a stutter yeah that affects a lot of the events in this story he grows up and he has like severe daddy issues I think four out of the the eight male love interests whether they're bridg intin or not have severe daddy issues

that's a reoccurring thing with Julia Quinn okay I don't know why she likes writing daddy issues maybe it just made the most sense for the story that all of them had daddy issues but like four of the shush I'm going to shut You in the other room but yeah so he has a whole lot of issues about that so he grows up he he gets moving he studies at Oxford with Anthony okay so they even though they don't really show it in this book or any other book they're like longtime friends that's that's how Simon

and dapne get introduced to each other is through Anthony okay so I'm going to be referring to my phone because I took notes while I was reading this so then we get to Daphne Daphne is on her second Or third season on the marriage Mark and the marriage Mart is essentially hey we are eligible to marry let's go to a bunch of balls and bunch of parties and stuff like that and find someone who we can marry okay so Daphne is on her second or third season not because she's not like pretty or likable or

anything but everyone kind of describes her as nice like she is the nice sister she is so nice that men view her as a friend instead of like a potential a potential Marriage candidate never have I behaved nicely to a man where he hasn't interpreted that as romantic feelings but I digress I guess she's just the opposite anyway she is on the marriage Mark she is available most guys have been like ah we don't really want to propose to her cuz she's our friend okay great so then we get to Nigel Nigel burbrook is his

name Nigel is an available candidate for marriage he is notoriously very nice but he is well Known for being stupid he is a big dumb dumb on a night where they are at a ball Nigel approaches I'm going to kick you out please shut up well you're getting held like this okay so Nigel is another romance candidate okay so he approaches Daphne and he's like hey let's get married and she's like I really like you Nigel but really not that way I'm sorry and he's like he's a little bit drunk I believe at this party

So he like tries to like pursue her out onto the balcony they are alone like Society dictates that they cannot be alone just the two of them like any man and woman who is unmarried can't be alone okay because it's not proper it's not polite fill in the blank okay so he pursues her out onto the balcony Simon sees this go go down and he's like ooh that's not good they shouldn't be unaccompanied I'm going to go like follow so he walks out and apparently Nigel has tried to make a move on Daphne okay and

Daphne punches him in the face as she should he is violating her kidset and knocks her and knocks him out so Simon who I think at this Point makes it very clear that he is attracted to Daphne is like dang this woman just knocked a man out that's really impressive and they kind of become friends okay not like friends but like acquaintances now they know each other they have a name to the face she knows That he is one of Anthony's good friends this ball where Nigel tries to make a move on Daphne he she

punches him she and Simon become friends this ball is where we kind of get the first taste of everybody in the Bridgerton family not everybody but a lot of people so we learned that Violet kind of has like a Mrs Bennett of Pride and Prejudice type where she's very much she's not as silly as Mrs Bennett is like she is a well-respected woman but her goal she's Trying to marry all of her kids off like she makes that very clear like all of her kids are getting married soon okay so even though really I think

only Daphne is like fully in the ready to be married Married stage because a lot of the men are a lot older by the time they're ready to get married at this ball we find out a little bit more about Violet we know that Anthony is the eldest brother he's very protective of his family we know that well my note Says Benedict is not interesting yet so Benedict is at this party but I couldn't find anything distinguishable about him immediately so and then Colin is bad with money but he just returned from a year of

of traveling okay Simon's also kind of aware of everybody from the family because he is close with Anthony the other person we see For the First Time Lady Danbury she is like kind of notorious cuz she knows everything about everyone like one of the big theories About who lady whistledown is is it's lady danburry because she she essentially just knows everything also the only thing I know about the TV show is that lady whistledown is voiced by Julie Andrews who is a queen I love her we also meet the featherington for the very first time

so we're meeting everybody at this ball everybody who I told you to watch out for is at this ball except obviously lady was down so Simon makes it very clear CU after he And dney kind of become friends she's like okay so like you're available what do you do and he's like oh I don't want to get married and it's pretty much because he doesn't want to have kids because he had such a bad experience with his own father his own father the Duke he is pretty much like I don't want to get married no

no thank you like one of the very first things he says to her is like absolutely not he is like he does approach her with this kind of idea Because she's in this weird position where the where the only people who are really interested in her are kind of weirdos or dumb people or people she just absolutely doesn't want to marry and she wants to she needs to have interest in her from other people who have already kind of written her off because she's too she's too nice Simon is like okay so why don't we

pretend we're courting each other because the second they see that you are being orted By someone they're going to say oh hey I want to do that kind of like a weird jealousy plot Simon also makes this deal because he's like this will keep all the women away from me because he is like the catch of the Season he's the one everybody wants to marry obviously he's a Duke like he's he's high ranking his father has also died at this point I forgot to mention that so Simon's the Duke now they come up with this

plan and they kind of start acting on it but Anthony dear older brother by Anthony is like um you can't do that as my friend Simon you can't date my sister so they do have to tell Anthony like hey this is all just a plan okay this is all just a scam so we can we can get our get our goals because Violet thinks that Simon and Daphne are together she's like H you should come to our country house with us so Simon goes to the country to like kind of their vacation home essentially cuz

they're Rich Anthony is still kind of like fed up with this deal like it really hasn't even started yet and Anthony's like I hate this so Anthony starts having beef with Simon even though he knows the plan I don't know but they are on their way to the Country House they're riding on the tams in a boat and then something happens I don't remember the exact event but something is nearly thrown overboard and both Anthony and Simon try to catch it and they both fall Off the boat into the river tames whistle down reports on

this so at this country home well so they go to the country home they have a good time this I think is also the time period where Simon where Daphne's like o I'm going to marry this guy despite the fact that he has explicitly said to her multiple times he doesn't want to get married dapne is not my favorite person and I'm going to tell you more as it goes on but this is kind of The beginning of oh Daphne no no they return back from the country home and then they go to another ball

together because they're publicly courting and they run into a different Duke this is the Duke of middle Thorp who approaches Simon and he's like hey I was friends with your dad and he left me these letters to get to you because they were obviously estranged from each other when the Duke was still alive Simon is like heck no I don't want those letters Get away from me and like storms off storms off into the maze into the the Hedge maze that's important okay he's like really really upset by this because anything about his dad makes

him super upset so he storms off essentially Daphne really quick turns to the Duke and she's like hey you can send them my way like I'll take them and I'll deliver them to Simon whenever he's ready which the Duke does okay so dhan goes after him into the Hedge maze they go in there And he's really mad and tensions are running high and he he feels very passionate about this or whatever and they he like kisses her and he goes a little further than that but I'm also trying not to get age restricted but let's

just say Anthony catches them in a compromising situation and he blows up he is immediately like do you know how many people could have seen you like this is going to cause a huge Scandal now we have to duel because you took my Sister's honor or something like that I don't or something like that so Anthony shows up starts wailing on the on the Duke just starts beating him up and then he like gets mad that he that Simon compromised Daphne and he's like we're dueling now we're going to meet in duel okay and Simon

well in all of this Daphne Falls backward and into the Hedge Thriller and in the middle of this argument dafh kind of Falls backward into the Hedge and tears her dress and Like looks a mess so he so she has to leave regardless and Deanie's like well you don't have to duel him if we just get married to which Simon's like I made a vow I cannot get married whatever that means he's just like I made a vow I can't get married so the duel is scheduled for a few nights later maybe the next night

on the next night she's like really upset about it and wants to go out to the duel to like stop them but can't so Colin favorite brother Colin the multiple of the sisters also say this that Colin is their favorite brother actually multiple of the siblings say that Colin is the favorite brother so Colin is like hey I just want you to know that one of my friends at this ball saw you guys walk off together and he like names a specific person as like hey this person saw you guys walk off together a duel

is kind of not the option if you want to save your guys' Reputation so dapne is like do you know where this duel is and Colin is like yes I do know where this duel is so Colin takes dhne to the dueling place they ride together on horses also Colin is definitely on the board for that event alone but he's probably going to be on the board for multiple of these books because he is the favorite brother after col Colin and DNE get to the dueling Place Benedict is Anthony second and dney shows up and

she's like knock it Off you guys can't duel and Anthony and Simon are both like why so Daphne was is like well Simon can't bam and punches him in the face so hard that his eye swells up like he gets a severe black eye and it's swollen so he can't see out of one of his eyes so after she punches him she's like let me talk to you for a minute and takes him to the side she after she punches him is like let me take you to the side real real quick and when she

takes him to the side she's Like hey a bunch of people saw us go into this maze despite the fact that she only knows one person and I think in the book she's literally like I knew I was I was exaggerating the truth a little bit but I didn't care or I guess it's in third person so Daphne knew she was exaggerating the truth truth so she straight up like lies to him and is like hey a bunch of people saw us our entire reputations are going to be ruined unless we get married and so

he's like All right I will marry you to save your reputation but I can't have kids he's like that's a thing like I I can't give you kids that's why I didn't want to marry and she is pretty bummed out by that but she's also like by this point she's like well I know I have a pretty huge crush on Simon so like if it's just Simon and I that's not terrible yeah so she just lied to him and was like my reputation is over unless you marry me and kind of Co coerces him into

marrying Her which isn't great it gets worse though they get married go go do their thing it's like a big event that like dapne be bagged the Duke of Hastings now she is the Duchess of Hastings okay here's the part where it's going to get difficult to age restrict they go to his like childhood home in the countryside and they are getting frisky okay before their wedding night violet this is Violet's one fault in the entire series I love Violet she's my favorite I Almost whacked myself in the eye with this her one shortcoming is

she does not want to have the sex talk with her children I'm trying to figure out how to say this so I don't get age restricted I'm sorry she doesn't explain anything to Daphne she's just kind of like good luck so when Daphne and Simon are doing the Hanky Panky later on he is not doing the part that results in a child I hope that's clear enough that you know Daphne after a bit of time kind of picks up on It and she's like I wonder why he's not doing like he's not just why he

is removing himself from this every single time we do the Hanky Panky so she figures it out and she's like hey Simon what like she she confronts him about it she's like hey I know what you're doing is this a situation of you can't or you won't have children and he's pretty much like oh I can't because I won't like I made a vow to myself that's the vow he was talking About I made a vow to myself that I didn't want children like it really my childhood really affected me and I don't want to

do the same thing to to my kids he like makes that very clear she's very upset with him about this because he did lie to her like regardless of his reasons and regardless of how she is reacting to these reasons because let's be clear she is not behaving very well it gets worse like regardless of that he should have communicated that early on Like I think I think him being him saying that originally might might have caused her to back off I don't know she's not very good with boundaries as we are about to find

out so they have B CET about this and then they're back to hanky panying she is on top and she refuses to get off of him she essays him let's be very clear what that is is essay she essays him it is what it is and he is really upset by that he is legitimately traumatized by that so he Immediately leaves the house flee as he should as he should after that I think 2 months passes he runs away for 2 months he's got like a billion properties so he's somewhere at one of those properties

he also has a property in London which Daphne returns to so she is there and she is just by herself it looks suspicious and Anthony comes and tells her that like hey it looks really suspicious that your husband hasn't been here for the two months that you've been Here and she's like oh he's just managing his properties and Anthony's like I don't really care what he's doing you two should be like together and so she is like okay here's what really happened like here here's what happened well she doesn't say like here's what really happened

but she's essentially just like here's the facts he is somewhere you need to go find him to give him this letter because I think I'm pregnant because she missed on Anthony Goes and finds Simon at one of his places and he's like dude you can't abandon and your wife and he's like well I did and then Anthony gives Daphne's letter to Simon and Simon like reads like her letter that's essentially like hey I think I'm pregnant do with that what you will I think you should come back home and he's like oh man my entire

perspective has changed now that my wife might have a child I have to go see her and I think That's the moment where he's like now I know I'm in love with my wife okay he returns to London and he stops by his house cuz he think stepanie is there and Deanie is not there Deanie is out for a ride on Horseback this is Regency time period they think a woman riding a horse is going to like cause a potential miscarriage so he goes to find her she's riding a horse and he surprises her and

she falls off the horse and he's like oh my gosh like have You seriously hurt yourself like is the baby okay a bunch of stuff and she's like uh I thought I was pregnant turns out I wasn't so that's fine and she's she is upset about it maybe I shouldn't phrase it that way she is upset that she did not get pregnant he is really mad at her because she was writing when they thought she was pregnant but she was like I actually wasn't pregnant I thought I was but I wasn't so I can't call

this a lie from Daphne I'm glad she Didn't do it intentionally doesn't make her a better person but you know also let's go back a little bit during the initial fight where he's like I can't have kids because I won't have kids she essentially is like he's like because of my dad and she's like literally everything you do is for your dad literally everything you do and he's like no I'm don't think about him when I'm with you and she's like clearly you do because you don't want to get me Pregnant she in this fight

he she like lays it all out for him like Hey your daddy issues are severely affecting everything after she falls off the horse after he's returned he realizes okay maybe she's right like I need to stop living for my father I need to stop doing this that's also the time period where he's like I love her wo yeah so they are love and they live happily every after and they have like five kids my versions had the second Epilog which she wrote like 10 years after she finished the series five children together and then years

down the road Daphne is like hey I have those letters from your dad the Duke and they read them and it's nothing important it's just like hey when you're the Duke may this is your reminder to do this thing so it really wasn't that big of a deal and Simon's like oh I'm glad I stopped living my life for my dad and the end so let's get into the official Ranking this is probably one of my it's not my least favorite I can tell you exactly what's my least favorite this is my second least favorite

book I do legitimately think they are the worst couple they are the worst couple they have such Daphne is a terrible human being between the essay and the constant like lying to him to get to be with him to do something that he explicitly said he didn't want multiple times she's a terrible human being he is not the worst Male love interest by any accounts I actually think if Daphne wasn't so horrible their couple rating might be up higher but he also is not great at communication and I personally don't think that Coupes should be

together if one essays the other so they're the worst couple in my personal rating I personally wouldn't waste my time reading this book especially now that you've watched this recap you know what happened so that is what we have for the Duke and I they're also like weirdly not so connected like I think Daphne appears and like two other books for like 3 seconds each yeah I don't really have any other thoughts I hated that book that's it's seventh in my book ranking and then eighth in my couple ranking anyway let's move on to the

vi count Who Loved Me we got a lot more important characters going on in the vicount who love me this is the second book this is anon's story okay so this also takes Place 1814 the year after Daphne gets married to Simon so we're to begin this is one of the only prologues that takes place from a Bridgerton point of view this kind of tells the story of when Anthony is 18 and his father passes away at the age of 38 he dies from a beasting so apparently Julia Quinn says this in her book but

apparently beasting allergies only form the second time you've been stung so there was like this weird thing where Anthony was like my dad's been stung before though but because it was the second sting he died from a be sting allergic reaction not a great way to die but because his father died so young and because Anthony was very close to him Anthony convinces himself that he is not going to live past the age of his father because he believes he cannot outrank his father in any way so he and that includes outliving him he cannot

outlive his father so he has kind of made up his Mind that he was going to die before age 38 by the time we are to this book I want to say he's already 30 he has basically convinced himself he's going to die so he's got a lot of weird he wants to make sure his family is as comfortable as they can be before he goes despite the fact that he's like 30 Max so that is what we learn from the prologue we learn that Anthony does not think he can outrank his father in any

any way including an in age so yeah the First chapter though we meet Kate her half sister edua and her stepmother Mary Kate and edua are both on the marriage Mark Kate is bordering on spinster age because she's yet this 22 years old she's bordering on spinster age okay edua is 17 and she is kind of considered the diamond of the season the diamond of the season is essentially who is the most sought after woman on the marriage Mark and Ed edua is young and beautiful and she is she essentially makes a Public announcement to

the ton that if people want to marry her they have to get Kate's approval so that becomes kind of like a weird thing no one does that with their sister obviously they do that with their dad but Kate and Edina don't have don't have a dad surprise another dead dad so edua is pretty clearly like you're not marrying me unless Kate approves of you at the same time Anthony who is considered a rake which is essentially Which is essentially a [ __ ] man he's known for pursuing a lot of women but he's not at

the age where he's like I should probably settle down and then he turns to Benedict and Colin and he's like hey who's the diamond of the season and they're like Eda shefield and he's like cool I'll Marry Her Like that's that's literally the sequence of events is he goes who's the best girl they say edua he goes cool I'm marrying her okay so he hears about this whole deal that Edua said where she was like if you want to marry me you got to get Kate's approval that is how they kind of meet okay not

necessarily I think there's a ball that happens but yeah and also at this ball we see Penelope again Kate and Penelope are actually buddies like because no one's necessarily pursuing Penelope and because Kate is essentially a spinster at age 22 they're buddies okay so they're like bantering with each other when Anthony approaches them to Dance with Penelope because violet make sure all of the Bridgerton boys the three eldest Bridgerton boys because I want to say Gregory is like 12 in the first book she makes all the Bridgerton boys dance with Penelope so she's not alone

all night which is so sweet of violent but yeah so Anthony meets Kate there and he's like hey I heard I need your permission to marry uina and they kind of ban Kate is very witty and also very honest With Anthony which a lot of people aren't necessarily with him because he is a v count but the following day after the ball Anthony goes to the Sheffield House Kate's family sheffields and like knocks on the door and she's like hey if you wanted to see adua she's out right now and he's like actually I wanted

to walk I wanted to go on a walk with you and she's like um okay and so they go on a walk with her dog Newton Newton is a corgi and He's fat that's what we know about Newton he's also a little Rowdy but yes Newton is Kate's dog so they go on a walk in the park with Newton and at that at some point in the walk while they're talking to each other Kate is not huge fan of Anthony because she knows his reputation he's got a reputation for being a rake whistle down writes

about him being a rake so she's not a huge fan of him in that sense but as there walking Newton gets off his leash and Starts running just sprinting so Kate and Anthony kind of have to look like fools while they're chasing this fat corgi around like fully sprinting after them and that's one of the things that Anthony is like impressed by about Kate is when she starts running he's like that's totally not proper but I do appreciate that she's like actually just running after him she doesn't care about social decorum he takes off running

and apparently edua is in the park okay While she was out she was in the park Newton starts sprinting towards her and basically shoves her into the lake to which Anthony like helps pull her out or whatever but that makes her sick okay this is important that makes her sick so Kate and Mary go to the next Bridgerton event just the two of them they go without edua at this Bridgerton event Anthony has pretty much figured out that he's very attracted to Kate like he doesn't necessarily want to marry her He's just very very attracted

attracted to her and attempts to distract himself by wooing a mistress at this big Bridgerton event she's an oper singer called Maria in the meantime while he's trying to woo this woman Kate is snooping around Anthony's office because she wants to know kind of what this guy's deal is she still doesn't trust him at all she doesn't think he's a good match for edua as a human being but she is also like he is also a by count like That would help our family out since we have no form of income because there are no

men in our family anyway she's snooping around Anthony's office like the head office at the Bridgerton estate Anthony comes in while he's making out with this opera singer Maria and she like hides under his desk okay she doesn't know what to do she is trapped in this place where two people are now making out he walks over to make him and his mistress a drink and like turns Around like let's say the bar card is right here and the desk is right like the back of the desk is right here so he's making her a

drink and he turns around and there's so he comes up with like an excuse and he's like uh just kidding Maria and kicks her out and then he's like um what were you doing snooping in my stuff and she doesn't really have an answer for him she's also kind of in there CU she doesn't really want to be at the party so killing two Birds with one stone but regardless she doesn't really have a good answer for him so he does probably the most obscure thing he could do and kisses her cuz he's like taunting

her or whatever and like trying to distract her and trying to get him get her on his side which doesn't make sense to me because if someone were trying to woo my sister and then kissed me to get my approval to consent to him marrying my sister that's a weird thing to do Anthony like that's An odd that's an odd choice I know you're a rake but like that's a weird thing to do he tries to taunt her so she goes back out to the party after they kiss and Anthony is already very aware that

he's attracted to Kate so also another reason why I'm like why did you do that bud she goes back out to the party and Violet who is a matchmaking genius as far as I'm concerned Violet approaches Mary and Kate and is like hey you guys should come to our country home Because she knows Anthony is trying to woo adua so they are now going to the country home just like Simon got to go to the country home they spent time at the country home edua is feeling better so she is also there but they're spending

time at the country home and while they're there Daphne and Simon come over and they all decide to play pal which is that little mallet game that you see in like Alice and wonder wonderland I think it's also called Croquet maybe I'm wrong about that comment below if I'm totally off base with that but they play pal now okay but there's a mallet that Anthony always wants and Colin gives it to Kate so Kate and Colin are like conspiring because Colin is the favorite brother is he on this list no he's only in this scene

but they were all playing pal out together and the goal is to get the ball through the Hoops but the way the Bridgerton play it is on honestly just to disrupt Each other as much as possible so they're harassing each other and Kate eventually after being fed up with Anthony hits his ball down into the lake to which all the other Bridgerton are like ah she's the best this girl's the winner so this game that consists of Simon and Daphne Benedict Colin and uina and then Kate and Anthony they all go back inside and Kate

and Anthony have to go into the lake to go fish out the ball while they're doing that Anthony is Learning with Kate again you are sending a lot of mix signals Anthony I feel like it would just be easier for you to marry Kate at this point but he'll get there I mean this is a romance book these two do have to end up together they'll get there the Bridgerton have a big fancy dinner who is invited to this fancy dinner well of course Penelope and Porsche featherington I think actually all the featherington are there

also I forgot to mention Nigel burbrook the one Who tried to kiss Daphne in the first book married I think Prudence featherington that's a cute little thing inton family is there and then there's also I can't remember her maiden name but there's C cida I don't know how you say her name from so from now on she is just going to be called Water Crest Water Crest is a mean girl she's like notoriously she's very pretty she's like tall and beautiful but she's mean like she is Penelope's bully while Kate and Penelope are hanging out

because remember those two are buddies Water Crest is while they're hanging out at this dinner Water Crest is being horrible to bope she is being so mean and Anthony swoops in and Water Crest is like oo he's going to escort me to dinner but he actually turns to Penelope and is like here let's go to dinner now because remember the Bridgerton boys know Penelope I won't say they're like best friends with her or anything but They're friends so he's like I'm going to walk you to dinner which Kate sees and is like that is actually

one of the nicest thing ever is Anthony attractive looks like it so she starts to develop an attraction towards Anthony because he is secretly a nice guy even though he's kind of a rat he's secretly a nice guy later that night Kate cannot sleep she doesn't like experience insomnia I think she's just up and thinking about like what Anthony did and she's like oh am I Attracted to the guy who's trying to woo my sister yes so she's up in the middle of the night she goes to the library at the Bridgerton estate and is

just kind of looking around when a storm hits storms do something weird to Kate she is like Paralyzed by fear we don't know why yet we will find out she has always been terrified of storms though she does mention that like she is terrified so she is in this Library just kind of like huddled knees to chest like just there And Anthony also can't sleep and I think Anthony thinks he hears something so he goes down and finds her essentially talks her down gets her to chill out enough that she can go to bed the

next day they are out in the garden and they she approach approaches him and she's like hey I really appreciate you doing that for me like you didn't have to I know it was kind of a strange thing I really appreciate you doing that to which he's like no big deal at all and She he he makes it very clear like why wouldn't I be because he's a nice dude like remember he's like secretly a nice guy even though he's kind of an ass sometimes so Kate is like you know what you actually seem like

a really decent human being I'm going to go ahead and give my consent for you to marry edua which is kind to slay but also Anthony is like a bummer like now I won't get to spend time with Kate will you notice some things about yourself sir can you Can you do that so Kate and Anthony are talking to each other and at that point a bee comes and lands like right here on her collar bone and he starts freaking out Anthony does because remember his dad was killed by a bee sting he's terrified of

bees so they're sitting there and she's like trying to talk to him and he's just like freaking out and he he like behaves so weirdly that the bee stings her because she's like jerking around like she's reacting to What he's doing and the bee stings her and she's like ouch and Anthony is like I have to suck the venom out right now so he does that because going to die in theory it's very sweet he's just not communicating it very well because he's baning he like pulls her dress to the side and like sucks the

venom out which is seen when Violet Mary and Porsche featherington come out thing I didn't mention about Porsche she is also notoriously one of the biggest gossips In the ton they know she's going to rat even if Violet and Mary are very chill about it they know Porsha's going to rat and Anthony's like Porsha you're not allowed to rat and she's like you wouldn't even know it's me and he's like uh yes I would everyone else here can keep their mouth shut but because Porsha sees it and because their mother see it Anthony is like

all right Kate let's get married we got to avoid some Scandal like this was kind of a compromising Situation because it definitely looked like I was kissing your neck so let's get married so they get married well that could have solved a lot of their issues before if they had just married each other but I know Anthony was just trying to prove a point and trying to be like I can bag the hottest girl also after he proposes to her they like walk off together and then they have their a little make out where anony

is like super happy to get To do that anyway so they get married they do the wedding night stuff don't forget this is an adult romance novel there's a lot of scenes in every book and when they're doing that Anthony tells Kate that she's like super beautiful and she as a near spinster at the age of 22 is like I'm not beautiful like you don't have to say that and Anthony makes it very clear like no I am super attracted to you he makes that very very clear to her so it's not a Declaration of

love but it is a declaration of Attraction well he also specifically says he's been attracted to her since he met her let's also be clear about that he has thought Kate has been attractive the entire time again Anthony use your brain just marry Kate in the first place they still she'll get married it's fine anyway edua who has always indicated that she wants an academic Man meets a man named Mr Bagwell Mr Bagwell as a person is not Important but he becomes important shortly so that's what's going on in in eda's life Kate is asleep

and a storm happens and she starts having nightmares where she calls out to her biological mother Anthony sees it and essentially calms her down again and then the next morning is like we have to go talk to Mary your stepmother about this because we like we have to know what's going on why are you calling out to your mother when you hear a storm when you're asleep Kate and Anthony go visit Mary and they're like what is this and essentially Mary tells the story about how when Kate was like sevenish Kate doesn't really remember this

but when Kate was like sevenish her mother died she died from an illness but she died during a storm and her body was essentially taken away during a storm so little tiny Kate Associates storm storms with the death of her mother modern day modern day 1814 Kate does not remember This so they find that out about Kate and Kate essentially is able to unpack her massive phobia of storms which is really cool and then they get home and Anthony I don't remember his exact thought process but Anthony kind of figures out he's in love with

Kate and Kate has kind of figures this out when he takes care of her through the night she realizes oh I'm kind of in love with this guy but yeah they kind of come to the realization around to the same time And Anthony figures out he's in love with Kate and is immediately like nope and runs off to his mom's house freak okay he doesn't know what to do with that and that all kind of comes back around to his father and how he doesn't think he's going to outlive his father and then it makes

him feel very weird to be in love with the person that he married because he wanted to be able to die in his mid-30s and not be like so concerned about his spouse it's a it's a Weird thought process but we'll go with it Anthony yeah he's at the Bridgerton house so Eloise the fifth sibling the second oldest daughter Eloise sends a letter to Kate and she's like uh what's going on with Anthony he is at our house right now you should come get him so Kate goes and visits Anthony and Anthony's like go away

to which Kate is like okay fine like she puts up a fight but she's like whatever dude like Get over yourself which is kind of cool and Then later that day Anthony is having a conversation with Benedict and Colin who are not up on this board because I felt like there were too many people up on this board he's talking with Benedict and Colin and they're just like having food together or whatever and he's like what am I supposed to do now that I'm in love with my wife and they're like you're an idiot go

see her cuz she's your wife who you're in love with and he's like oh my gosh you're so right and He like runs out to go find Kate like that's literally how the conversation goes okay okay Anthony he runs out to find her and then finds out from their house staff that Kate went out for a carriage ride with edua and Mr Bagwell and Newton Newton's also there so he runs to the park to go catch the carriage when he sees that the carriage is in the process of crashing so he freaks out because he

thinks Kate's dead and runs up and edua and Newton and Mr Bagwell are all fine and Kate just has a broken leg but when he thinks that Kate might die he's like she's the one person who makes living long seem worth it which is actually super romantic when she's fine and her leg is justess broken he's like by the way I'm declaring my love to you I am in love with you please don't die on me and she's like I wasn't going to die but I love you too she is now the Vic Countess they

have three kids and kind of their entire marriage Is just built on being menaces to each other and being just happy to tease each other and her bringing honesty into his life if you can't tell they are one of my favorite couples which gets us on to our rankings the V count Who Loved Me is one of my favorite books of the series you can't tell what that is but that will be spot number two Kate and Anthony are they're so good together and their banter is so fun and honestly just the Story is super

fun Kate and Anthony they the by count who loved me as my second favorite book of the series just straight up so just because it's so satisfying when they get get together anyway let's talk about their couple ranking the only complaint I have about this relationship is it's super weird that he kissed her when he was openly courting her sister that's a weird thing to do they're still going going up higher than certain other couples just Because I love them and I think they do great and I think Kate is one of the few women

in the series who actually stands up to her husband and is like hey knock that off you know they are probably going to go in fourth place let's say that fourth is right here okay Kate and Anthony are going to go in fourth place and it's only because some other couples are just a little bit better like that that's just a weird it's weird to kiss your kiss the person you're pursuing Sibling anyway moving on to an offer from a gentleman okay things get a little different in an offer from a gentleman the first being

is the books kind of start to feel a lot more put together Julia Quinn released VI account and Duke in the same year and I don't know if she knew how well it was going to go like if she knew she was going to write sequels because an offer from a gentleman feels a lot more interconnected with the other stories at This point in time so there kind of there is another plotline that will be discussed and several other characters mention things that I'm going to discuss but let's get started so Sophie Becket Sophie Becket

is our love interest the prologue is about her the first part of this book takes place in 1815 and then the next part takes place in 1817 two years later the prologue is about Sophie Sophie is the illegitimate daughter of the Earl of pen so her Childhood her mother dies and her childhood is spent in her father's home but no one ever acknowledges that she is his kid like not to her face she is aware of it but like her her father doesn't behave like a father to her the Earl marries armenta armenta is Sophie's

stepmother she brings along her two stepdaughters rosemund and posie is this starting to sound familiar yet well I'll keep telling the story Sophie is treated well until her father dies araminta After her father dies araminta is like all right Sophie get out like you're gone bye but when they're reading Sophie's the Earl's will it essentially says like hey you can have 2,000 lb a year to live on if you don't keep Sophie or you can have 6,000 PB a year to live on if you do keep Sophie so armenta does kind of put herself in

a weird like is kind of put into a weird situation and decides to keep Sophie but begins to treat her like a servant where we start Off in the story is that Sophie is being a servant to her stepmother and step sisters what do we know about these step sisters roseman's a little brat she's up on this board only because she is related to sop not because she has any plot importance other than she is a little rat posie posie is the younger daughter posie is also a lot nicer additionally posie is not treated the

same way as rosemund rosemund is known for being very tall and pretty posie is Kind of chubby and not necessarily sought after for marriage arment's favorite kid is rosand posie is scared to death of armenta so posie doesn't really stand up for Sophie but Sophie and Sophie and posie are like Buddies the bridgertons are having a ball as they do in every one of these books as they do and everyone is invited it's one of the it's one of the big events where like every any royalty regardless of if they know them or not anyone

with the Title is welcome to come to this this whole family goes and Sophie's like hey can I go and arment is like absolutely not you're a bastard so all of the other house servants as soon as armenta and the girls leave all of the other house servants are like Sophie here's some of the Earl's mother clothes go to this masquerade ball oh it's a masquerade ball by the way go to this masquerade ball and she wears this beautiful silver dress with her little mask and some Gloves she goes to the ball and because it's

a masquerade nobody recognizes her and then we kind of cut to Benedict's point of view Benedict is in kind of a weird mental situation where he doesn't feel like he gets off a lot of individuality like he only feels like a Bridgerton boy which I'm so sorry Benedict but that's kind of how you're written he's you're not very very interesting in the first two books so he is really like struggling with being a Bridgerton because he really wants to be identified as a person like an individual without being identified as like a Bridgerton and that's

what we learn about him but anyway at this ball he sees Sophie obviously she is all masqueraded she's wearing this really pretty silver dress and he is like immediately in love with her you can you can see where this is going this is a Cinderella retelling part one is so he is like in love at first sight Sophie Who knows the Bridgerton because of course she she reads lady whistletown is like holy crap Benedict bridon is talking to me right now she she learns this after a few minutes and she's like really embarrassed because she's

like oh I didn't know you were a bridon he was like how could you I was wearing a mask but they share a kiss surprise surprise the clock strikes midnight and the ball etiquette the masquerade ball etiquette is that you're supposed to unmask Yourself at midnight Sophie does not want to do that she's terrified to do that so she Runs Out essentially she does drop one of her gloves though which has the initials in the crest of Penwood on it so Benedict is pretty quickly able to figure out like okay this person belongs to the

pennwoods so if he gets back home she starts being a servant for her stepmother and step sisters and all of that stuff the next day Benedict shows up and Benedict is like hey I Found this glove at the party is this any of yours but he kind of kind of knows pretty quickly that it's not theirs because they don't look like her and he's like do you have any other daughters and arant is like no so he leaves our aminta very quickly figures out what has happened and finds out that Sophie went to the ball

and she finds a pair of her shoes that have scuffs on them because Sophie wor them to the ball cuz Sophie doesn't have any fancy Clothes so she sticks Sophie in like locks her in her shoe closet and like polish all these shoes also you're getting kicked out in the morning and Sophie's like what uh because she disobeyed armenta essentially so Sophie steals some silver shoe clips from the shoes that she's obviously cleaning so she can make a little bit of money before she has to go get another job that's the end of part one

fonk part one 18:15 two years later Benedict is at a Party hosted by the Cavenders and he hates it there like one of the first thing we hear about this party is he's like this party sucks I really want to leave and on he as he's on his way out he sees three men including the main Cavender guy harassing the servant girl the servant girl being Sophie who now works for the Cavenders they he sees them harassing her and threatening to sa her so not a great situation and Benedict steps in he's like knock that

Off and they're like uh do you want to turn and he's like no you need to like treat your servants with some more respect and they're like what are you going to do about it and he's like I'm going to hire her so he hires Sophie they walk to his cottage which is close to the Cavender's Countryside house and in the middle of that it starts pouring rain so they are on the way to this Cottage it's pouring rain they get there and an old chest Cod that he has starts Acting up like one he

just got over starts acting up and he gets like really feverish and like the owner the carers of this Cottage whose names are escaping me aren't in so it's just the two of them so Sophie is like I've taken care of sick people before let me help and starts taking care of him while he is like Delirious because of his fever while he's Delirious he's like hey can I have a kiss to which she's like no you dope and he goes to sleep and she's like Hey I've always been in love with you cuz remember

Sophie is the lady in silver which is what they all call her Sophie is the lady in silver so she's like I will always be in love with you Benedict but I can't marry you because I'm a little servant girl Benedict feverish and Delirious will not remember any of this it will not come back up so the next morning when Benedict is feeling better and the carers of the cottage are there he basically is like No Sophie's my guest Sophie is not my servant Sophie is my guest like he makes that very clear to the

staff there she just kind of is like yeah he's lying I'm going to go do servant things so he's do she just continues serving him essentially even though he's like she's a guest he figures out that he is very attracted to her in this meantime he he's got this weird thing where he's like I'm know I'm in love with the lady in silver so I don't want to get married Yet until I find her again but Sophie is really hot I'm very attracted to her so he's like I got to calm down I'm going to

go for a cold swim in the lake so he's doing that Sophie is kind of wandering around because there's not enough for a servant to do when there's two other caretakers of the house and so she's like just kind of wandering around looking at the property and she sees Benedict having this Colt swim he is in the nude let's be clear so she's a Little horn so she's watching him and he catches her watching him and he is like get over here and so she gets over there and they kiss because once again they're both

pretty dang attracted to each other and after they have a little make out sesh he's like hey you don't have to be my servant if you be my mistress inste remember Sophie is a bastard Sophie's mother was a mistress and it clearly hasn't worked out very well for Sophie so Sophie's like offended as she rightly Should be she's like no I'm not going to be your mistress that's that's that's not that's not for me you you need to calm down and then she's she is like okay I'm leaving cuz that was a disrespectful thing for

you to ask me which I agree with her I mean obviously he doesn't know her background or anything but like it is a little offensive that he's like you should be my mistress instead of anything else so she's like okay I'm leaving now cuz that Was rude and he's like you can't leave and she was like what do you mean and he's like I won't let you leave you can be a servant though like if you don't want to be my my mistress you're still like you're still okay to be a servant and she's like

I don't want to do that and he's like okay then I'll report you from stealing from me huh we jumped a lot of steps for him to go be my mistress up to I'm going to I'm going to Blackmail you into working for me what The heck is going on so essentially he's like I'm going to report you from stealing from me so she has no choice she has to stay here which Benedict ew like that's don't try to turn your employee into your Miss mistress and then be like oh but you can't not be

my employee what the big HR just so you know he's going to go pretty low this couple's going to go pretty low on the couple list just because of that HR problem she is like okay I guess I have No other option so I guess I'll go with you so she is like I don't really want to work with you though to Benedict and he's like okay that's fine you can be my mother's hand made one just left her employee she becomes Violet's ladies made and goes and lives in the main Bridgerton house Benedict is

still not letting up though like he's still pursuing her so he is still like actively going after Sophie and eventually she is just like knock that Off like she gets really mad at him as she should and so she runs out into the street is so mad she's like I got to leave the house runs out into the street when she is out in the street she sees armenta rosemund and posie getting into a carriage and obviously she has a traumatic response because AR abused her for years and she's kind of like Frozen and Benedict

comes and finds her and is like come back to my house like we'll get off this street because araminta and Violet live on the same street so he's like come to my house they go over to his house and they have Hanky Panky they do the Hanky Panky and this is all a consensual sequence by the way even though Sophie's really mad about the idea of being a mistress this is all like a consensual situation they they do do their thing together you know so after they're done Sophie is very openly like you know I

love you but I really like I I cannot morally do this mistress Thing she has far better communication skills than Mr Simon over here because she actually openly is very clearly like I can't do this and here is why Benedict is like well I can't marry you cuz you're a servant because we're still in re Regency England so there is still like a social hierarchy that's going on even though Violet has said I think in definitely in VI count maybe in this book at this point Violet has very openly told her children like I don't

Care who you marry if you are happy and in love I don't care so it's it's interesting that Benedict's like well I can't marry you because you're a servant because Violet has never like set that precedent for them even though there's like societal expectations so I don't know not necessarily heartbroken they're kind of both in a weird place where they're like really bumped that they can't be together cuz the only way they could be together would be the mistress Situation and Sophie just morally can't do that so Sophie goes back to work with Violet and

the burgerin when she is doing that she actually becomes good friends with Eloise and hent with like all the girls who are still living there and by this point Penelope is back we love Penelope Penelope has now at this point in time become really good friends with Eloise so she comes over for tea like every single day and Penelope we find this out has a really really good Recall for faces like just if she encounters people she actually Penelope ran into the lady at Silver like they literally ran into each other at this masquerade ball

and Penelope is like you look really dang familiar because Penelope definitely recognizes Sophie as the lady in silver and Sophie kind of gets freaked out Sophie is kind of freaked out so she goes back to work Benedict shows up at the main house with Anthony and Colin because they're having Like a little family meeting but they're having family or something but they are showing up to the house and they are just talking about things they're kind of teasing Colin for not being married yet and Colin who's right here Bonk Colin is like getting fed up

with them because his older brothers are ragging on him and as Penelope is leaving they are teasing him about Penelope and telling him he should marry Penelope because once again Penelope is a joke Character when as Penelope is stepping out of the door Colin's like I nothing could make me marry p bope this is where we're going to tie into the next book okay that's why this one feels so much more interconnected than the last two so Penelope hears him do that cuz she's literally walking out of the house as he does it and Penelope

is like my feelings aren't hurt by you saying that it's really embarrassing cuz it's set in the middle of the street but Penelope is Like you owe me nothing Colin Benedict's not going to be offended if I say I won't ever marry Benedict and Benedict's like um yeah you're right so she's like I'm going to walk home now and Anthony's like I'm going to walk with you because you need to be escorted home which is very kind of him whistledown later reports this instance and is like sucks for Penelope though because the one person she

left on the arm of was the married Bridgerton brother so this will Play a big part in the next book I'm telling you about it now because it plays a big part in the next book yeah anyway back to Benedict also one of my notes says Eloise believes in education for women yay feminism she doesn't play a big part in this book but I wrote that down because I was like woo a strong character a and a character who is ahead of her time Benedict goes in and he's like talking to his mom and he's

like how did you know you loved my dad and She kind of tells him the story of like how she felt and stuff and Benedict realizes as Violet is telling him this that he feels the exact same way about Sophie he like wants to go up and talk with her because they're having like this big family reunion there is some cousins with who have brought their little kids and Sophie is upstairs playing with those little kids so Benedict's like I'm going to go find Sophie and talk to her and he walks up They are playing

Blind Man's Bluff which is essentially Marco Polo and you're blindfolded Sophie is the blind man so she is blindfolded you can't see this part of her face so when Benedict walks in he realizes that Sophie is the lady in silver and gets really mad at her for lying to him I don't necessarily feel as though this this might be seem a double standard but I don't know if this is necessarily lying cuz she's really not obligated to tell him that because she Has no chance with him according to him like he told her he can't

marry her so why should she feel the need to disclose that information to him regardless he gets really upset with her for lying to him and she's like fine I can't deal with you anymore I quit and leaves the Bridgton House literally on her way out the door armenta catches her and has and has her arrested because she stole the shoe clips 2 years ago so We're looping back herette the next day whistle down Who is coming in clutch whistle down reports that Sophie has been arrested she she's essentially like a servant from the Bridgerton

house was arrested when armenta accused her of stealing so Benedict and violet both realize where Sophie is and go to jail to get her on their way to that araminta comes in and visits Sophie okay and she's essentially taunting her and she's like oh you're going to to get shipped off to Australia which at this time was essentially a big Island where the British sent their sent their prisoners hi Australians any Australian who might be watching we love you yeah she's like taunting her she's like it's your word against mine you're going to be shipped

off to Australia if not killed so Benedict and violet come in and they come in and Benedict's like uh you need to release my fiance right now to which Sophie's like fiance what and posie comes in we remember posie posie Actually has always really liked Sophie as I mentioned before and this is the moment where she decides she wants to stand up to her mother and she is like actually I stole the shoe clips so you can't arrest Sophie um I stole them so armenta is kind of like in a in a odd situation and

at this time Sophie decides to come clean about her parents she's like hey my dad was the Earl of Penwood araminta is actually my stepmother and like she kind of tells The story of what happened so Violet is pissed because Violet is a good mom and she's like that's a terrible thing to do so she is really really mad but posie as they're all talking to the magistrate who's kind of the chief lawmaker I guess law upholder they're talking to the magistrate and posie is like um actually because she is the daughter of the Earl

of Penwood she had a dowy and and posie says that and the Magistrate is like uh where is it and araminta can't answer so posie insinuates that araminta spent it all already and so Violet's like maybe you're going to Australia now this sequence is so fun I actually really like this sequence but Violet's like I'll send the solicitors after you like I'll have you arrested unless you want to tell everyone that Sophie was the Earl's Ward okay so ARA has no other choice and like publicly declares yes Sophie was my husband's Ward okay so she

now officially has a nice a nice little title she's not a servant girl any longer Sophie is like hey posie you want to come over sometime I haven't seen you in a long time and posie is like yes I would love that and ARA is immediately like all right I'm disowning you like we're done and Sophie like really gives it to her where she's like it's really crap that you decided to treat one kid better than the other that's a terrible Thing to do you're a bad mother see you later so armenta essentially flees to

the countryside okay now that posie is disowned posie is still only like 17 so Violet takes her in so posie kind of becomes like a pseudo daughter for a few years so anyway at this point Benedict's like hey I called you my fiance do you want to get married like I'd really like to marry you because they both kind of figured out they're in love with each Other so she says yes and they get married and they have a bunch of kids they have four kids specifically so they do also get posie married off posie

marries a man named Hugh Woodson and they have a bunch of kids together so a really satisfying ending and honestly the whole like armenta sequence is actually very fun I had a lot of fun reading that one so let's move on to the ranking there are three that are all kind of around the Same area for me because they're very they're not hugely memorable this is one of them so my official placement like when we talk about this I would say there's three really good ones there is three pretty neutral ones and this goes in

that category and there's two bad ones okay two that I just totally didn't enjoy reading so an offer from a gentleman an offer from a gentleman is going to be number six just because most of it's very Bland That last sequence about the arresting is super fun but most of it's very blamed as for the couple the couple is one of the worst I have listed Sophie and I've listed Sophie and Benedict oh wait that's a couple as number six again because that whole blackmailing her into staying with him is Icky can we admit that

can we admit that that's something icky to do because it Is so they're not the best couple I don't love the blackmailing to stay together they're also otherwise just not hugely memorable to me I mean it's a Cinderella retelling do with that what you will but that is Sophie and Benedict story that is book number three let's move on to book number four Okay so several things to know I fixed this um it should look a little more put together um another Thing I'm sitting down because my hips are really hurting and then an event

happened chronologically at this point in time okay that they just like mention in one sentence in this book and then really don't bring up otherwise okay Franchesca the fifth nope the sixth child who made her debut during the events of Benedict's last book Franchesca married a man named John you will learn more about him in her book and you might be asking why Does why didn't they get their own book well you will see but that happened the same year as benedicted Sophie getting married those are the things you need to know two of which

involve me one involves the actual story so let's talk about Romancing Mr Bridgerton I wrote it up here and you can't see it anymore because I'm sitting down so whatever there's the book cover Romancing M Mr Bridgerton takes place in 1824 so this is seven years after the event of Benedict and Sophie's book so I think this is the biggest jump we get I might be wrong but 1824 is a big year for the brti family the next two books after this one also take place in 1824 so letting you know that now so let's

get into it let's talk about Romancing Mr Bridgerton this is Penelope and cins story yippe I love this book I'm going to tell you straight up that it very it is my number one like book my favorite Book we'll talk about their couple ranking in a minute but it is my favorite book so it will be going like up here in a second um but yeah so let's get started Colin and Penelope the the introduction the prologue is Penelope the prologue kind of talks about how Penelope falls in love with Colin one of the first

times she sees him she and her family are out on a walk and he is riding a horse and she sees Him riding horse and like is nearby and her Bonnet flies off and hits him in the face and knocks him off the horse okay so it's the very first time they meet each other yeah so that's that's the story of how she encounters him and falls in love with him pretty immediately the year after she goes on the marriage Mart and she while she's on the marriage Mark kind of becomes friends with Eloise okay

Eloise is her Age they spend they spend 12 no not 12 they spend a few seasons on the marriage Mark but they are officially spinsters Penelope at the start of this book in 1824 is 28 okay so she is a spinster Eloise is also a spinster Eloise got several proposals but never took anybody up on any of them because she didn't like the guys she was talking to the prologue also details the event that happened in the last book where Colin very publicly was like I'm never going to marry penel okay and Penelope was like

you're not obligated to my homie so Penelope Anthony walks Penelope home and he's like you know Colin's an idiot right and she's like yeah but I'm I'm really not offended her heart's a little broken but she's not like offended that he would say something like that because she's really not expecting anything Different so Anthony's like I don't know what I'm going to do with Colin and Penelope essentially is like why don't you just let him travel for a while whoa Focus yeah Penelope is essentially like why don't you just let him travel for a while

and Anthony's like that's a great idea so years pass because that event happened in 1817 so seven years passes and Colin comes back into town he's been into town a few times but only for a Minute he comes back into town after after his long travels and he is probably just going to turn he's decided he's probably just going to turn around and go right back to traveling so that is where we pick up so Penelope and Eloise are best friends they see each other every single day because they're spinsters together they're just kind of

hanging out chilling with each other which I love for them yeah so they are hanging out spending time together Felicity and hin are now of marriage age so so Penelope's mother porsa is she on here yes Penelope's mother porsa is still being pretty horrendous and now it's just being horrendous about Felicity Porsche has kind of now resigned herself to the fact that Penelope is just going to be with her forever so she makes like a lot of comments about oh when I'm old and you're taking care of me and like a lot of kind of

like it's not backhanded cuz I'm sure she like means well Penelope says I'm sure she means well but it's also kind of like dang you really have no hope for Penelope I don't like Porsche she's horrendous so anyway that's that she she'll make a reappearance don't worry Colin has returned to England they all go to Violet's birthday party because Violet has a ball every year because it's marriage March season and Colin invites Penelope to dance because it's kind of Their little tradition and they're buddies at this they're they're buddies so he invites her to dance

and they go and dance together when they kind of get off the dance floor lady Danbury my one of my favorite characters of the entire series who has a much bigger part in this book lady Danbury approaches them and it's just like talking to them because lady Danbury really likes Penelope she has made everybody very aware of that from Like book one that she really likes Penelope she thinks Penelope is very smart and has a lot of good Insight on things and she actually says this to Penelope while they're talking after she approaches them she's

like I love you Penelope you're the best so yeah they are talking and it's it's Colin Penelope and Lady danur more people start coming into this discussion which Penelope has never really experienced before because she's always been a Wallflower she's Never really been one that people paid attention to except to pity her okay more people start joining their group and they all start discussing lady whistle down Bon she's on this this time because she's a big part of the story they all start discussing lady whistle down and they're kind of coming up with their theories

and discussing it and Lady Danbury is like you know I'm I'm actually really nosy I want to know who This person is I will give 1,000 pounds to whoever can figure out who it is so that kind of becomes like the big discussion like people are like oh my gosh will we ever figure out and they're all talk about like their theories and Lady Danbury turns to Penelope and this big group of people and is like who do you think it is and it's the first time Penelope has been the center of attention for a

lot of these people and Penelope very like honestly is like I Mean you know a lot about everyone lady Danbury I think it's you and I think you're trying to like cover for yourself by introducing this prize and Lady Danbury actually thinks that's that's really hilarious and like Hypes her up Lady D sees herself a lot in Penelope like she says this multiple times in this book but Lady D is much older than Penelope so she is kind of like hyping Penelope up every time she sees her and one of the things that she says

to Penelope is isn't it nice to discover that we're not exactly what we thought we were which is essentially like girl go explore yourself go go figure out what's what's going on I think you're more than what everybody else sees you to be which is I love lady Danbury Eloise approaches Penelope and she's like I mean we have nothing else to do let's investigate and figure out who whistle down is to which Penelope is Like yeah sure Penelope actually has a really really good night at one of these balls because she's like she gets to

be the center of attention lady Danbury kind of makes her night she gets to dance with Colin like she had a really great night she also I think is getting more noticed and this is mentioned several times in the book and this this is important on their couple ranking Penelope lost two Stone in between like the last time we saw her and like this Book so around 30 PBS so she she still like mentions that she's pretty curvy but she's lost a pretty large amount of weight and I want you guys to know this so

that might be another reason why more people are paying attention to her the next day after her really good night out the ball she is on the way to the Bridgeton and she is just like walking down the sidewalk she lives super close to the bridgin and it's just kind of dancing to herself like just hanging out It's very sweet and Colin shows up Colin appears and he's like hey we should dance together like we're out in the street you're already dancing I'll join you which is so fun of him but she turns him down

and she's like they kind of have a discussion he's like why why do we want to dance with me like he's joking and she is very much like I still very much care about what people think of me and I don't need to give them any reason to Think more about me in a certain way yeah and she also is like I also want to protect you from the rumors that could start of us courting if people see us dancing in the middle of the square together which I I would say is a fair thing

to do to him like she doesn't want to mess up his chances at all of getting a new wife or anything like that so she is having tea with the Bridgeton this is where they randomly drop that one fact in the one sentence that Franchesca Married John but they also mentioned that she was widowed only two years into her marriage okay so Franchesca is just kind of living her best life managing not not living her best life because her husband died uh we'll find out more about that but she widows have a lot more freedom

in society than unmarried women or married women do so she is just kind of she's got a lot more freedom than a lot of the people she knows which is very cool the Bridgerton discuss with Penelope who they think is whistle down and hin and Eloise are like really into this conversation like they're all having a discussion and Colin is like sure it's Eloise he doesn't say it at this point in time but like you can Penelope can tell by how he's behaving and he kind of like insinuates that it's Eloise anyway several days later

she comes back to the family house Colin is also living there at this moment because he thinks he's about to leave again to Go travel again but p shows back up to the house and to the Bridgerton house and she's the only one there and while she's there waiting for Eloise and all of them to return so Eloise and her can go shopping she sees Colin's Journal lying on a table his travel journal and she reads she's like oh I'll just it's already open I'll just read a page and then proceeds to read like a

bunch of it Colin walks in on her doing this and he gets really upset and He's like trying to put his hand down to grab the journal and he cuts his hand on a letter opener so she's kind of left to like fix his hand and she's like bandaging it up and while she's sitting there talking to him she's like hey you're a really really talented writer like I really was enjoying reading that I'm sorry I did but you're very talented so they get into talking some more and Colin mentions that he kind of feels

like he's got nothing to be remembered By um and he's like really genuine L concerned that he the only thing he's going to be remembered for is being mentioned and whistle down a bunch of times and he's kind of snotty about it like I don't know but he he's kind of a snot I don't love his attitude during that portion but yeah he's sitting there complaining about this and she's like why why are you complaining about this like Get over yourself and she essentially is like well you're being Entitled and you can start complaining about

that after you spend a day as an onth shelf spin like me and essentially storms out because she he's being a brat and she puts him in his place for being a brat so good for her honestly later everyone goes to a concert it's the SMI Smith concert it's four girls there's like a whole spin-off series I haven't read it I haven't read any of the spin-off books but there's a smile Smith series about those four girls okay and Everyone's there because they're all being polite and notoriously the SM Smith girls are terrible music like

they're not talented it's really hard to listen to them all sorts of things like that but Penelope goes out of her way to go to the concert because she's like I have been unsupported before like I have been there before I've had to do embarrassing things because that's what my family expected so I want to give those girls support Lady D shows up for The exact same reasons and they're just kind of talking and Lady D is kind of like I do not think whistle down is going to dog on these girls I think she

only calls out the people who need to be called out like she's not going to go out of her way to she's not mean like she's not going to be mean to these girls because they're bad at music which yeah because Lady D is a nice person and she's also majorly observant Penelope also kind of is like hey I've Been here before like I really sympathize with them and Lady D says the exact same thing specifically in the SM Smith girls there is one girl who's very aware like three of them are not aware their

bad at music one of them is and she looks ter terribly embarrassed every time she has to play so Penelope specifically sympathizes with her and so does Lady DE after that Colin comes to see Penelope and he's like hey I'm really sorry for acting so entitled like I'm sorry about that and she's like that is okay and she tells him that he should try publishing his travel journals because she really really enjoyed reading them hen is like nothing so Penelope just goes along with it so Ellie gets kind of really mad at them for cutting

her out of the equation which as she should no one wants to have secrets kept from them the following morning Colin calls on her and this is the first time in like 12 years that Penelope has ever been called on like she's never been called on before so Colin showing up and calling on her is like a big deal to her but he shows up and he's like I think Eloise is whistle down like I'm I'm sure Eloise is whistle down and Penelope's like I really don't think so like she would have told me Colin

says that rumors can like really ruin a person like if if the rumor of Eloise being whistled down got out it would be really really terrible and the Example the example he gives is if he seduced Penelope then Penelope would be ruined and the second he says it these two immediately are like oh do I want to do I want to kiss that person and at the exact same time they realize like oh okay so we're both attracted to each other and Penelope is like hey I've Never Been Kissed before before die I want to

be kissed could you be my first kiss and so they kiss but when they're done she's like all right thank you Thank you for taking pity on me essentially which is so sad and he gets really upset about that and leaves it doesn't communicate why he gets upset by that so then Penelope is also like oh is he mad at me for doing that like there's a whole thing like communication is not the Bridgerton men's strong suit a lot of the time so he really really bad communication skills great job Colin so Colin goes back

to his mother's house and he goes and confronts Eloise Immediately like he's like I know your whistle down which leads to one of the funniest text in the book where Colin is like I know your lady whistle down and Eloise written with eight A's it looks like says what which just made me laugh but he thinks Eloise is whistle down because she's always got ink on her hands like she is always writing but Eloise is like I am just a really good correspondent like her hobby is straight up writing Letters which we're going to see

more of in the next book but her hobby is essentially just writing letters she gets really mad at him for accusing him of that for accusing her of that and like storms out the next few days lady whistledown puts out what is to be her final article she says she is retiring okay immediately she like she's like I'm done it's been lovely writing for you for I think she says a dozen years I think but she's like it's been Lovely writing for you bye everyone at the ball that night is like talking about it it's

they're all like what no way like how are we ever going to find out who it is and Lady D like finds Penelope at this ball and she's like well now that I don't have to do the whistle down thing my last project before I'm kind of done with this whole society thing cuz I'm old is I want to marry you off later that evening towards the end of the ball water Cris where' She go waterest Penelope bully who has since been married she married a really old guy and he died and she has like

no money she is like I'm lady whistle down and so everyone is like shocked by that but she approaches lady d and she's like can I have my money now and Lady D is like uh bring me a proof because I don't think you're Lady whistledown Lady D turns to Penelope in the middle of this giant crowd and it's like what do you think Penelope and Penelope is like I think you're too mean to be whistled down like she she straight up says that and at the same time like Colin's been hanging out with her

all night and he's like holding her hand while she says this like he's trying to give her some strength to talk to talk in front of people o and thenis Water Crest is like okay I'll bring you proof give me two weeks the next day Colin goes to visit penel again but he sees her getting into a Hired Carriage which is strange because the featherington have a carriage so it's weird to him that she chose to get into a hired Carriage so he's like hm I'll follow her see where she's going I wonder what she's

doing so he follows her all the way to a church in London and he sees her leaving an envelope in one of the in one of the pews so he confronts her and she's like shocked she is so surprised but he reads the contents of the envelope the contents Are a lady whistle down paper that is essentially like water crestes not me so essentially Penelope is whistle down like he he finds that out she wanted to write one last time because she could not let Water Crest get away with taking credit for all she did

for those many years he is very mad so he's like get in my Carriage we're going home so they're riding home and he tells hery he's like whistle down is going to ruin your reputation Penelope tells him exactly That she's like I cannot let water crust get away with this I can't I can't do it I'm more morally it really upsets me Colin as he's talking kind of I didn't write the insult down but he kind of unintentionally insults her and she says that he and his family are literally just treating her kindly out of

pity that's kind of the moment he takes where he's like actually I really really like you I have a big crush on you a big fat crush and so we get the notorious Carriage scene where where they where they spend some time doing some stuff in the carriage and then they get back to her house and he gets out of the carriage and he's immediately like so are we getting married cuz he's cuz he's a huge s he's like so are we getting married and she's like uh yeah let Let's Get Married okay so he

comes inside to the featherington house and she's like this is probably a really bad time and it's because it's a family meeting all Of the sisters are there the prudence and philippa's husbands are both there and so they're all talking and Colin's like I have something to say can I talk with Porsche alone so everyone leaves except for Penelope Porsha and Colin and Colin's like I'd like to marry your daughter and Porsha does the most insane thing she is like oh my gosh I have to go get Felicity cuz she thinks he wants to propose

felic Felicity with Penelope in the room and Colin is like absolutely Not I want to marry Penelope and Porsha is like shocked she was like I never would have guessed that I do not like Porsche why would you behave that way in front of your daughter Penelope and Eloise are hanging out later Colin has announced to everybody that they're getting married Penelope and Eloise are hanging out and Eloise kind of is like whistle down would have a field day with with this news like she's like it's a shame she's already retired because she Would have

been delighted because one time whistle down wrote like she would have to retire if penel be married at Bridgerton at the same time Eloise is like I'm also kind of sad because I thought we would be spinsters together I was happy with being single as long as I had you Eloise um Colin he goes to visit Daphne daff's up on here fonk cuz Colin and Daphne are buddies they're they're very close in age and they're friends With each other so Colin goes and asks and goes to visit Penelope and he's like how did you know

you were in love with Simon and daff's like I don't know because they are a terrible couple bottom of the couple ranking hate them she's like she's like I don't know how I KN I was in love with him but I'm so glad you are in love with Penelope Penelope is great everybody in this book is like we love Penelope we are team Penelope heck yeah at their engagement Ball cuz the bton got a ball you know um at their engagement ball they invite Cita water I think it's CHR I don't know chrs they invite

Water Crest okay because Colin's like we need to rub it in her face Eloise at this ball when she's talking to Penelope is like Colin's definitely in love with you by the way like this is definitely a love match cuz he is totally in love with you and Lady D comes over to Penelope and is like Heck yeah I got you married off despite the fact that she did no such thing she she was no part of that but I I do love her enthusiasm thanks lady d at the ball whistle Down's final column comes

out which Penelope did send to the Publishers but she was not expecting it to happen during her engagement ball so she's like shocked and Colin is super upset because he's like I told you to knock this off like why why are you still doing this because she could not Let Water Crest get away with claiming she was Lady whistle down so that was the final column and she says like this is my final one like I'm all done I promise you and Colin at this point is like holy cow I'm in love with this woman

so they run off to another room in the brierton place and uh go do the thing the infamous mirror scene happens and so they get The Wedding Date moved up and get married very quickly they get married they're living their life They're having a fun time the one problem in their marriage is Colin refuses to even talk about lady whistle down he will not talk to with p about whistle down and she thinks he's really upset with her and is like trying to make amends by like looking over his writings for him Colin lets her

read them and she once again is like you should really publish these they're really good and he kind of admits that he was upset about the whistle down Thing because he was really jealous he was jealous that Penelope was going to be more remembered than him and he really thinks he won't be remembered on his own outside of whistle down so penel does convince him to publish his here's here's the guy who set me up with a publishing deal at 17 penel convinces him that he will be remembered if he just like takes a chance

and gets his stuff published so he goes and publishes his work and she Is like hey my father's solicitor is the one who set me up with my publisher so we can go meet with my publisher and get your Works published Penelope becomes Colin's editor after he gets like approved by the publishing company and starts editing his works when she is visited by Water Crest why would water crust be at Colin in Penelope's house you might ask well Water Crest knows that Penelope is whistled down because of certain language that she used in her In

her final thing where she was like Hey whistle down is not Water Crest in her final thing she uses specific language that Penelope uses and Water Crest figures out ah this is the one so she approaches Penelope and she's like well I know you're loaded because you were lay whistle down so I'll be quiet about it if you give me 10,000 10,000 is a whole heck lot of money and Penelope even who is rich as can be doesn't have that in her bank Account so water crust leaves Colin comes back and he's like she tells

him what happened and so Colin goes out to talk to Anthony to see if they can resolve the problem Penelope's like hey hey we don't need to involve your family I think Lady D would take the fall and Colin's like we cannot ask Lady D to do that for us which I would have to agree with Colin on that one like even even though Lady D likes Penelope it is kind of like a question mark to to get Someone else to ruin their reputation they go to Daphne's ball dap's daan has a huge ball that's

going on she and Simon are hosting so they all the entire family goes to Daphne's ball so when they get there Penelope's like uh what's the plan and Colin's like oh we're just going to tell everyone which Penelope freaks out about for a minute but Colin's like you got to trust me on this so they do it and Colin kind of stands on an upper balcony and he's like Talking about and he's like my wife is one of the smartest people in London she is one of the most well spoken people in London and that

she is Lady whistledown and the entire crowd instead of like being upset with her is like like that's awesome that is so cool that she pulled that off and everybody like applauds her and everything goes Super well and then also as a note Eloise goes to the ball but leaves before the announcement because she's run off to a lope with Another man we will get to that in the next book A year later Penelope and Colin have a child on the way and Colin is publishing three of his traveling journals I think they go on

to have fiveish kids and one of those kids has a speech impediment like Simons so Simon kind of helps that kiddo through that which I thought was actually kind of a sweet way to wrap up that story so that is Romancing Mr Bridgerton so let's talk about the ranking I actually really feel Like this book is my favorite book I think it ties everything together so nicely and also just involves all of the Bridgerton and it also involves a favorite character Penelope well multiple favorite characters cuz lady Danberry is there too so I do think

that this is the best the best book as for the couple for me personally and I know he is probably up much higher on the ratings than some others they are really cute together but There's two things I can't get down with I don't like that he's only really interested in Penelope after she loses a bunch of weight which I know is absolutely tro a Trope of the times these books came out from 2000 to 2006 so I am absolutely aware that that's a Trope of the times but I still don't love that and then

I really don't love his jealousy when it comes to like Penelope being a successful writer when he's not when he hasn't even like tried To be a successful riter at the end of the day I think they would have gone up much higher if they weren't up against a lot of these couples cuz believe it or not a lot of these couples are actually really likable them being right over Benedict and Sophie please hear me when I say there is a massive Gap in between them the three couples that are going to go down here

cuz there's still one missing the three couples that go down here are horrendous Colin and Penelope Up are actually all really great so I'm sorry if that offends you if you are a book reader and you love them I actually really really like them together too I think at the end of the day there are just and you hear me when I say I put Kate and Anthony at Fourth and I love them so I think it's just taste and preference I also think as Julia Quinn was writing more and more and she got more

fan like response to it I think she just started writing healthier couples So yeah anyway let's move on to our second book of 1824 to Sir Phillip with love [Music]
