How can this party really bless my life and your life?
Let us understand a little about Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, who gives meaning to our joy, gives meaning to our lives, but before giving the word to Pastor Hernandes I would like to invite you to be part of the ministry of evangelization through television program here, which is the program Truth and Life, a program under the responsibility of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil. Contact us say I want to be part of the ministry Truth and Life, the ministry of evangelization of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil, on television is logical, and we will gladly send you the book of Pastor Hernandes: Drps of hope for soul. Thank you!
As it was announced, we are going to speak today on the subject of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, and we will base this message on John, chapter 1, verse 29. Let's hear the text reading: Easter is Israel's biggest festival, Easter represented the deliverance of Israel from the bitter captivity of Egypt. It was when God broke the chains, broke the chains and made his people free.
What struck the Passover was that on that fateful night, when all the firstborn of Egypt were slain, God directed his people, the people of Israel, to slay a lamb without blemish and to lay the blood of that lamb on its doorstep. When the angel passed by the judgment of God upon the nation of Egypt, when he saw the blood on the doorposts of the Israelites, he passed over, and there he did not apply his judgment. The Bible says that man sinned against God, all sinned and destitute are of the glory of God, the wages of sin is death, sin is wicked in the sight of God, man can not wipe himself from his own sin; man can not forgive his own sin, the only way for man to flee from the wrath to come, the only way you can escape the condemnation of your own sin is to be also under the blood of the Lamb of God, the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, died for our sins, says the scripture; he paid the high price of our redemption, he is the substitute lamb.
There in Genesis, chapter 22, when Isaac was about to be sacrificed by his father Abraham, Isaac asked, "My father, here is the firewood, here is the fire, here is the cleaver, but where is the lamb for the sacrifice? " God is going to provide for himself, my son, the lamb for the sacrifice. "For Jesus is this substitute lamb, sufficient to save a person, and God provides a lamb, and Isaac was spared from death there in Genesis.
There in Exodus chapter 12, on the day of the Passover celebration, the lamb was sacrificed and replaced a whole family. Jesus is the Lamb of God, sufficient to save a family, to save his family. "The Bible says," Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.
your home. But there in Isaiah 53, the lamb of God is enough to save a nation. No matter where you come from, no matter what your nationality, no matter the color of your skin, no matter the name of your family at the moment you believe, people of all tribes, of all peoples, of all languages, of all cultures, believing in Jesus, finds in him redemption and eternal life.
but here in John 29, John the Baptist, the forerunner of the Messiah, presents Jesus thus: "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. " The death of Christ Jesus, the Son of God, is sufficient to save all those of all humanity who repent of their sin and put their trust in Jesus. Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
Sin is a sad and painful reality. sin makes separation between us and God. Sin is dirty, sin is evil, sin is wicked, sin separates us from God and separates us, now and forever, from the presence of God.
But this sin has spread to all mankind, the whole world has rebelled against God, there is no nation, no ethnicity, no people, out of the terrible reach of sin and its consequences. But there is hope for us, there is a substitute, Jesus Christ was sent into the world, and he came to the world with a purpose: to die for our sins. When John sees him as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, John was looking at his cross, because it was there on the cross that he died for us, there he took our place, there he took our stand, there he was our substitute.
And when he was there on the cross, God laid upon him the iniquity of us all, he was made sin for us, he was made a curse for us, he paid there the writing of debt that was against us, he repaid our debt, he died for our sin, he received in himself all judgment that should fall upon our head, and he died to deliver us from sin, to redeem us from sin, to reconcile us to God, he is the Lamb that died, but he also is the Lamb that raised him is the Lamb worthy to be worshiped, for he has overcome death, because he has broken the backbone of death, because he has plucked the sting of death and because now he resurrects as the resurrection and the life death no longer has the last word in our life, the ice cold and cold tomb is no longer our last address, now we have a living hope, in him we have eternal life. Easter is not a pagan feast, it is a Christian feast. We do not celebrate Jewish Passover anymore, because Jesus Christ is the Passover Lamb, he is our passover.
Jewish Passover was only a shadow of the reality that is Christ. Today we celebrate Christ, the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He died for our sins, says the Bible, he was buried, but he was resurrected according to the scriptures.
His death was not an accident, nor his resurrection a surprise, he is alive, he reigns, he is on the throne, and he will return with great power and glory. If you, right now, for your trust in him, you receive his forgiveness for your sins and eternal life. What are you going to do with this proposal of God's grace?
If you refuse this gift from God, you can not escape because God has not promoted any other way for you to be saved. Your religion can not save you, your works can not save you, your personal merits can not save you. Only Jesus Christ saves, only in him you have forgiveness, only in him you have redemption, only in him you have eternal life.
I will pray for you, and right now you can, where you are, acknowledge that you are a sinner, acknowledge that your sins alienate you from God, but look at Jesus and know that he died for your sins, so that you could receive life and eternal life. Now you can make the most important decision of your life: give your heart to Christ and receive eternal life. Pray with me, "God, beloved, blessed is your name, for your wonderful grace, for your son Jesus, who died for our sins.
