the Israelites faced the Philistines in the valley of ela conducting two confrontations a day for 40 days both morning and night Goliath the Giant and champion of the Philistines came out of the Philistine Army and challenged the Israelites to send a champion into a single battle in which an Israelite Warrior would face the giant champion of the Philistines however Saul was afraid of this challenge but David courageously accepted the task Saul reluctantly offered his armor to David but he refused choosing to take only his staff a sling and five stones from the Stream David and
Goliath face each other Goliath with his armor and dart David with his staff and sling the Philistine curses David several times in the name of his Gods but David replies today the Lord will deliver into my hands and I will offer to the corpses of the army of the Philistines the birds of Heaven and the beasts of the earth that all the Earth may know that there is a God in Israel and that all the congregation may know that God does not save with sword and spear for the battle is of the Lord and He
will deliver you into our hands David then throws a stone from his sling hitting Goliath in the center of his forehead Goliath immediately falls to the ground and David cuts off his head right there after David's victory over Goliath the Philistines fled and were pursued by the Israelites to the city of gath and the gates of equine David took the armor of Goliath into his own tent and carried the head of the giant to Jerusalem Saul ordered Abner to bring the young man named David and the King asked him about his father's identity David replied
that he was the son of Jesse the bellamite it is interesting to note that generally people who know the story of David and Goliath are not aware of Goliath's life and Origins although commonly called the Philistine Giant Goliath was not a Philistine he belonged to a terrible group known as the rafedas or rifanes a race of giants that did not originate from Biblical lineages After the flood Goliath was a representative of this clan as were the anakins zunzins and zanzimens these Giants were not linked to the lineages described in the Sacred Scriptures that emerged After
the flood standing out for their impressive stature a little-known curiosity about the life of Goliath in addition to his account in the book of Samuel is that there is mention of other Giants who lived at the same time as him and who were his brothers belonging to the same race the reefates Goliath had five re-fate brothers just like him therefore he was part of the sons of Giants and was not an ordinary or normal person especially due to his height stature and incredible physical strength characteristics that set him apart from the common people of Israel
the Philistines and other Canaanite peoples the name Goliath has the meaning of soothsayer exiled sorcerer or even witch revealing something about his identity and beliefs as he was devoted to various entities and pagan gods because of his devotion his name is related to the concept of divination some rabbis claim that Goliath's sword had wondrous Powers adding an element of curiosity to his story the giant Brothers of Goliath who were of the same race as him had names like Lami isbibinob and also Goliath had a brother of the same race who was also called Goliath a
third brother whose name is not specified there is speculation that this unknown brother was the greatest of all the Giants according to biblical accounts this brother had an impressive stature being described as having an extraordinary height in addition to having six fingers on each hand and on each foot regarding the origin of giants I plan to produce a series of videos in the future exploring details about the origin in different races of giants mentioned in the bible including the ancient Nephilim to give you a preview of the ancient Nephilim Goliath was descended from the children
of the Giants and the Nephilim the Nephilim were the result of the literal Union between Fallen Angels demons and human women giving rise to Giants the Nephilim being considered in addition to Giants any monstrous deformity on the face of the Earth this is the oldest interpretation found in the biblical manuscripts about the origin of the Giants although there are other interpretations that I even mentioned in the video of the pre-dilovial period that I will leave here in the description we respect the two versions but leave your opinion in the comments a striking curiosity about the
Giant Goliath is his stature and height over time several estimates have been proposed in relation to this in the biblical text it is mentioned that Goliath was six cubits high or six cubits and a span importantly qubits or cubits varied in size in different regions of the Middle East Africa and other parts of the world such as Greece and Rome the measure of a cubit is from the elbow to the second finger after the little finger the size of the qubit can vary according to ethnicities and peoples since some ethnicities have slightly larger or longer
limbs than others for example indigenous people are usually shorter and have smaller limbs resulting in a correspondingly sized qubit some African peoples on the other hand have longer arms and more elongated bodies which would result in a slightly larger qubit than that of the indigenous people this is just a general illustration as most Bibles make mistakes in setting weights measurements and sizes an example of this is the confusion between the New Testament Cubit and the Old Testament cubit the New Testament Cubit is the Greco-Roman qubit which is approximately 47 to 48 centimeters while the Hebrew
qubit used by the Israelites in Antiquity was quite different according to the measurements of the qubits of the time the Hebrew Cubit or Israelite Cubit was about 54 centimeters therefore considering that the height of Goliath was six cubits and a span its equivalent height would be approximately 3.51 meters since 6 cubits plus a span a span being half a cubit would total about 3.51 meters in the masoretic text which is the most common version of the current Bibles it is mentioned that Goliath was six cubits High which would be equivalent to 3 meters and 51
centimeters however there is another text the Dead Sea Scrolls which present a different height for Goliath mentioning only four qubits and a span which would correspond to approximately 2 meters and 43 centimeters different Scholars propose other height equivalences for the Giant Goliath using different measurements of qubits among the main proposed Heights we have the one mentioned by the masoretic text which is widely used in current Bibles in addition to height the Bible also mentions that Goliath's armor or garment weighed about 60 to 64 kilograms the Giants of the refate race of which Goliath was apart
were probably similar in height to him however the giant not mentioned by name only described by its frightening stature was probably even bigger than all the others I hope you all enjoyed this video about the origin and some Curiosities related to the character Goliath the ancient giant defeated by the young Shepherd David it is important to note that in addition to versions of the masoretic text and the Dead Sea Scrolls other Scholars have proposed different measurements of qubits over time these variations can result in different estimates for Goliath's height however the measures mentioned above are
the best known and widely accepted the figure of Goliath arouses curiosity and Fascination to this day his confrontation with young David became one of the most famous episodes in the Bible symbolizing the victory of the week over the strong the story of David and Goliath continues to inspire many people as an example of Courage confidence and faith I hope this explanation about the height of Goliath and some Curiosities related to it has been enlightening and interesting for all of you the Bible is rich in fascinating stories and characters which invite us to reflect on different
