The film begins by showing a woman named Georgia, also referred as G, she is reminiscing about her past with the people she loves the most. Meanwhile, on Christmas Eve, Georgia is shocked and confused because she discovers she is pregnant. Sam wants to take responsibility and asks her to marry him.
Sam is willing to support G in whatever decision she makes, but this does not make Georgia feel any better. G then invites Sam to come to her parents' house to celebrate Christmas with them. After spending Christmas with her family, Sam requests permission to take G out on the town that night.
In fact, at Georgia's parents' home, they are always assisted by a human-like robot known as Android and named Eli. Georgia and Sam then go on to a friend's house to continue the Christmas celebrations with them. An Android waiter named Daniel approaches them and offers them all a drink.
G approaches Sam and asks about her cell phone, which Sam has forgotten about since he has also left his cell phone at his house. G then goes to the toilet and starts to tell her friend, Sarah, about her pregnancy. G explains that she is afraid and unready because they are both students and still young.
She isn't even sure if she wants to be with Sam, and has asked to break up with him. In the middle of their conversation, unexpected thing happens in which a high-frequency radio wave is heard, causing Sarah's cell phone to be thrown. Followed by electrical and other electronic devices disturbances.
As soon as the sound has been muffled, they hear a commotion downstairs. They witness Daniel the android attacking their friends due to the sound waves that were emitted by the sound generator. They try to get out of the situation, but Sam falls while trying to save G.
Georgia and Sam are almost killed by Daniel, but they are saved by one of their friends, who beats Daniel with a baseball bat until he dies. It turns out that the situation outside has become chaotic as a result of an attack by Androids who work in each of their homes. Even those who are holding a cell phone will get killed due to the mysterious explosion involving all cellphones.
Luckily, G and Sam haven't brought their cell phones along with them. We can see the state of the city that has been knock down as the result of the Android attack. After several months have passed, Georgia's stomach has now grown in size as her pregnancy has progressed to the nine-month mark.
At this point, she will soon go through the childbirth process. Sam proves his sense of responsibility by always showing concern for G and protecting his lover patiently. Following the attack, they remained in the area for several months, hoping that conditions would recover.
However, as the situation worsened, they were forced to attempt to travel to New York. On their way to New York, the presence of too many Androids army scares the higher-ups, causing the military to detonate an Electromagnetic Pulse, also known as EMP. A little explanation about EMP, EMP is the only solution that humans have at that time to kill androids through the blast waves emitted by the explosion.
But it can only be detonated once. In the end, after the wave has subsided, the Androids launch their second attack, which is successful in taking down New York. Now that Sam and Georgia are on their way to Boston, they must walk 6 miles through the forest to get there because the city's streets have been taken over by Androids.
They then found a heavily guarded military base. The soldiers order them to put down their belongings and walk backwards. They then are checked to make sure that they are a normal humans and not one of that creatures.
After passing the test, they are allowed to enter the safe camp. G meets with Doctor Howe and consulted about her pregnancy. She also tells about her long journey as well as the couple's intention to visit Boston.
The doctor then informs them that Boston has been fortified and that they cannot proceed directly there. Furthermore, the surrounding area is a No Man's Land making it is very difficult for someone to survive through that path. G explains that she plans to give birth at the Boston base, which is located near the pier.
After that, they will proceed to the pier in order to board a ship to Korea, where according to rumors the situation is much safer there. But according to Doctor Howe, only women and babies are welcome there as they also have to maintain the food supplies. Since her gestational age is approaching her due date, doctor advises her to stay in the camp until she gives birth.
Sam, on the other hand, is trying to ask one of the soldiers about a ride to Boston. But the soldier underestimates Sam because they think he wants to leave America in ruins, and flee to Asia. Later that evening, G argues that it isn't a good news because one of them will have to remain in America.
Sam admits that he can accept this as long as Georgia and their child are safe. G, who is listening, becomes emotional as she believes Sam is deliberately wants to let go of his responsibility. Then there's a fight between them, and Georgia says some hurtful things.
As a result, Sam leaves the tent and go out to find out more about a group who will be heading to Boston. At a ceremony honoring new recruits, he meets the same army man. In a drunken state, the soldier challenges Sam to a fight, in exchange, Sam and his lover will be accompanied by a group on their way to Nashua the following day.
This will reduce the distance between them and Boston. The arrogant soldier appears to be quite confident, as if he is certain he could beat the small Sam. But in reality, the opposite happened.
The next morning, Georgia is awakened by a female officer. Georgia is then taken to meet the commander at the base. It turns out that Sam has been arrested for defeating one of the soldiers, causing the soldier’s skull to crack.
Since Sam is unwilling to serve as a substitute soldier, the commander orders Sam and Georgia to be expelled, despite knowing that the girl is pregnant. A very inhuman decisions by a military man who is supposed to protect civilians. But for Georgia, the most stupid thing is Sam's action.
Because of his actions, they are forced to go through the dangerous route that may harm the womb. In fact, Sam's only intention is to fulfill her wish. They then continue their journey through the rainstorm.
As soon as the rain stopped, they continued on their journey and came across an abandoned house. Sam found a mattress so that G can comfortably sleep, and he also found a printing camera. After making one shot, Sam left one more photo remaining to snap a photo of himself and G after the birth of their child.
Before going to bed that night, G looks at the route maps, while Sam reads a medical dictionary to learn more about birth. Since the Boston area is under siege by Androids, the only way to get there is by sea. Georgia determines their route, which is the Northern route through New Hampshire before continuing on Portsmouth and finally arriving by boat in Boston harbor.
Basically, their journey will be very dangerous because they will go through areas that can't be reached by the EMP wave, and of course there will be Androids everywhere. Travel time is estimated to be three to four days, with silent movement to avoid attracting Android's attention. The two of them also agree to continue on their journey after their child is born in this house.
Sam is seen breaking their agreement from the night before, as he is unsure about waiting for his child's birth on the shores of No Man's Land. Of course G disagreed because the sound of the motorbike would attract the Android robots in the No Man's Land area. But according to Sam, their journey will be even more difficult if their child is born before they leave the area.
They couldn't possibly walk around in silence with a crying baby, especially when the baby is hungry and cold. After persuading G, they prepare their equipment and continue on their journey by the dirt bike. At first, everything appears to be fine; Sam and Georgia are having a great time on their journey, until they finally stop by the river to rest.
While they are enjoying the piece and quiet, G suddenly notices the figure they don’t want to deal with behind the leaves. Without any delay, Sam quickly starts his motorbike and rides off with Georgia. It is at this point that the Androids appear and begin to chase after them.
Even though G manages to shoot one Android off, but the other androids keep showing up. They're even using a drone to chase them. In the end, Sam drops G off so she can go back to the river and hide, while Sam will attract the attention of the Androids.
Suddenly a man appears in front of Georgia, he asks Georgia to follow him in order to save herself. Even though she is hesitant to leave Sam, the man persuades her to save themselves first before thinking about saving Sam. This man's name is Arthur.
Once they arrive at the hideout, G asks about the security of this place which appears strange since Androids can't find them. Arthur explains that he used to work as an AI Programmer at Raster Robotics, and that he is still alive because he knows how the robots think. Arthur recounts a book written by Karel Capek in the year 1920.
He explains that it is the book that describes the human condition today. According to the book, there’s a scientist who is working on creating a new life in order to prove that there was no God. The creation known as Roboti, which are artificial creatures made from living flesh and blood in order to look exactly like humans, and serve as personal servants.
Plus, it is difficult to tell the difference between robots and humans. At first, they seemed happy to serve humans, but ends with a robotic rebellion that causes the extinction of human life. Despite the fact that humans are aware of what will occur after their creation, humans continue to create them for millions of dollars.
After a while, Georgia wakes up when she feels a contraction. Georgia believes the time has not yet come for her to give birth, so she decides to go out in search of Sam. Arthur tries to restrain her because what she will find outside is not a normal servant robot, but a killing machine.
Although humans are not robots, Arthur claims that Android can still hack human programs through love. Even if it sounds nonsense, but through emotion, Android will exploit human weaknesses with their strategies that humans can't predict. Georgia asks why Arthur cares about her so much.
But Arthur instead puts his ear to Georgia's stomach. He then cries like a traumatized person while repeating a verse over and over. Arthur offers to get G to Boston safely.
He then gives her a camouflage vest that he developed 8 years ago. This vest will make Androids to unable to see humans if they are wearing it. Android detects human through UV, heat sensors, and night vision, and this vest works as a mask against all of that.
However, it is only invisible to the eye, Georgia still has to be careful because the robots can still hear and smell humans. Arthur then takes her to an Android hideout house. As they approach the house, Arthur hands G his vest and instructs her to go inside and put it on Sam before leaving.
Arthur doesn't come with her since he only has two vests. Georgia then bravely makes her way into the house. It turns out that the vest's technology really makes it invisible to the Androids.
In fact, the androids will continue to torture humans in order to draw the attention of other humans to come to their place. She manages to enter with slow, silent steps, and sees Sam who has been badly injured in his leg. While trying to rescue Sam, one of the robots enters after hearing a sound.
Sam then distracts by provoking the Android. But makes him get additional torture from the robot. After the robots leave, Georgia rushes to untie Sam and ignores the other hostages' calls.
But that man keeps begging her for help. Threatening he will shout and call the Androids if she doesn't. Seeing G is not helping him, he then shouts and the Androids who starts chasing them.
As they fall, Arthur appears out of nowhere and assists them by shooting down all of the Androids. After knocking down a few Androids, they make their way towards the truck. Arthur drives the truck at a high speed, while Sam is barely conscious, and G has to deal with the fact that she is on the verge of giving birth; she cuts her pants and struggles to give birth to her child in the truck.
Some time later, G awakens in the patient's bed, and a doctor gives their baby boy to her. The doctor informs that Arthur is currently resting because he has passed out after bringing G and Sam into the Boston protection camp. G and Sam are very happy to see a little baby, whom they have named Forest.
According to the doctor, Arthur caused quite a fuss at the checkpoint that the soldiers were forced to let them in. The soldier let them in after noticing G and Sam had passed out. In a hurry, they finally managed to operate on G to give birth to the child.
Even though they are happy at the moment, but the worst part of Sam's struggle is losing both of his legs. However, Sam tries to calm G down because he will most likely be using robotic legs once he arrives in Korea. After that, a representative from the military begins to interrogate them.
G tells about their journey, which was made possible by the technology in Arthur's vest. She explains all about the technology to the military man. But the military man is both shocked and confused because the technology described by Georgia never existed.
If there were, they would have been introduced and received it from the state's leadership. When G hears this, she suddenly remembers Arthur's words and realizes that she has been tricked. Moreover, it turns out that Arthur is one of the Androids who only uses her as a pathway so that robots can sneak into the Boston protection camp.
It is proven after the interrogation is over, in which an army of Androids begin to attack the Boston Camp. Sam, on the other hand, has fallen asleep due to the injection of the medication. G covers him with a cloth and tells him she will come back after getting help.
G then goes out with her son. She is already aware that the robot's goal in sneaking into the base is to detonate the EMP, as explained by Doctor Howe. Georgia then rushes through the battlefield between the soldiers and the Androids.
She manages to get into the EMP room, but Arthur suddenly appears from behind. He threatens to stab the child if she does not assist him in disabling the EMP. From here, we also learn that the Androids were programmed to be emotive to make humans feel comfortable.
As Arthur continues to approach G, she fires the gun repeatedly at Arthur's head until his face is destroyed and reveals his true robotic face. Not long after, the other androids begin to show up, forcing Georgia to hold the door. Finally, she manages to jump and detonate the EMP which will only be detonated in an extreme emergency state.
As a result, the blast generated by the explosion causes the androids in the area to become paralyzed. Georgia wakes up again in patient's room next to Sam and Forest. G then takes the last remaining film camera and takes a photo of them.
Before the conditions worsened again, Sam invites them to immediately go to the port to get an evacuation ship. When they get there, there's a Korean ship that is just about to leave the port. Unfortunately, the officer explains that Korea will only bring the baby, not the parents.
It's not a matter of space on the ship, but once they in Korea they will need job in order to survive. As they notices the state of Sam's amputated leg, they are not sure that they can survive there. Sam can understand the situation and begs G to let Forest go with the officer.
According to Sam, this baby can get a better life in Korea. G signs the letter of terminating parental rights provided by the officer with a heavy heart. She also writes a letter to her son, so that he can read her sadness at being separated from him.
After writing a letter, she advises an officer to find parents who would care for and love her son. At this point, Georgia can't hold back her tears, and she cries so hard as her child leaves. Before the film ends, Georgia tries to leave all the sad memories in her life while burning a photo of Sam.
But she chooses to keep a photograph of herself with Sam and Forest, as the most beautiful moment in her life ever to be a mother. Georgia is now living on her own, without Sam. I believe that Sam has died due to bleeding, or perhaps there might still be hope.
And the film ended by showing G going with a group of soldiers to Portland, They have built a base there to accommodate the survivors.
