In the beginning, Albion was a place of beauty and tranquillity. It was a peaceful and prosperous nation. This was until 'The Court' came from The Void and demanded that all men bow before them.
The Court consisted of The Knight, The Jack and the Queen of Blades. The Void, a place of constant chaos being an area outside of the world itself that The Court had ruled before man existed. The people of Albion refused to bow before them and so, The Court burned Albion until the earth was black and the air choked with smoke.
The Court demanded obedience again, and once again, man refused. The Court raised the ocean into the sky and flooded the land. The Court once again demanded to be worshipped.
This time, giving the offer to end the misery and bring in an age of peace. To this, the few remaining people refused and so, The Court twisted their minds, until brother slew brother, parent abandoned children, and friend killed friend. To this, the people of Albion bowed to The Court.
This began the reign of The Court where the survivors served them, erecting structures and monuments in worship to The Court. After many years of torment, a humble blacksmith and his wife had a boy. They named him William.
As he grew up, he amazed the people around him with his powers of mind. He was able to protect his village and perform feats that a dozen other men could not equal. These acts became celebrated as the Powers of Will, possibly derived from his name.
The feeling of using Will power gave him confidence, which results in him becoming obsessed with overthrowing The Court and ending their tyrannical rule. One night, while consulting an old and mysterious tome, William was suddenly sucked into The Void. Here, he stood before the Jack of Blades who sat on a throne surrounded by ghastly figures.
Jack attempted to enslave William with the powers of an ornate sword, but with his powers of will, William fought back, and while escaping he stole the very sword that Jack had intended to enslave him with. when back in Albion, the sword spoke to William and introduced itself as a Sword of Aeons. The sword promised to help him destroy The Court but only if he offered his soul is bondage.
