God had blessed Adam and Eve and had given them the ability to have healthy and strong children therefore incest was not a problem but a necessity to fulfill God's plan to fill the Earth with his children however this changed over time as years passed and sin and Evil evil spread throughout the world and also affected human nature the DNA of humans deteriorated and mutations and genetic defects began to appear these defects could be transmitted from parents to children and could be exacerbated If the parents were close relatives therefore God decided to put a limit on

incest and established laws about marriages between close relatives these laws are found in the Book of Leviticus 18 where God tells Moses to tell the people of Israel is none of you shall approach any close relative to uncover their nakedness I am the Lord Leviticus 186 then God lists a series of relatives with whom one cannot have sexual relations or marry such as the father mother son daughter brother sister uncle aunt nephew niece father-in-law mother-in-law brother-in-law sister-in-law Etc God says that these things are an Abomination and that whoever does them will be cut off from

his people Leviticus 18:7 to30 these laws were given to protect the health and Holiness of God's people and to prevent them from falling into the depraved customs of the Pagan Nations inhabiting the land of Canaan whom God was going to destroy because of their sins these laws were also given to preserve the purity of the Messianic line from which the savior of the world Jesus Christ the son of God would be born these laws remain enforced today and are the basis of Christian sexual morality but what about the examples of marriages between close relatives found

in the Bible after these laws were given are these cases of incest the answer is that not all cases of marriage between close relatives are incest according to the biblical definition there are some cases that are allowed by God and others that are condemned by god let's look at some examples Abraham married his half-sister Sarah this was before the levitical laws were given so it was not considered incest moreover God blessed Abraham and Sarah and gave them a son Isaac the father of Jacob the father of Israel Isaac married his cousin Rebecca this also was

not close relatives and who love and respect each other as God has joined them but what effects did incest have on Humanity what congenital problems were produced in children from incestuous unions why did God change his laws over time the Bible tells us that incest is a sin against God and against human nature and goes against God's purpose for marriage and the family the Bible tells us that incest brings negative consequences for the individuals and families involved such as shame rejection violence curse illness and death the Bible tells us that incest also affects the health

and genetics of human beings and can cause congenital problems in children from incestuous unions congenital problems are those present from birth and can affect the physical mental or emotional development of children some of these problems include malformations disabilities developmental delays hereditary diseases Etc these problems can be caused by various factors such as age environment diet exposure to toxic substances Etc however one of the most significant factors is the genetic factor that is the information transmitted from parents to children through DNA this is what happens in cases of incest when two closely related individuals reproduce being

worsen If the parents were close relatives that is why God decided to set a limit on incest and establish laws about marriages between close relatives but why did God change his laws over time why did he allow incest before and then prohibit it isn't that a contradiction the answer is that God did not change his laws but adapted them to the circumstances and needs of his people God is the same yesterday today and always and his principles and purposes are Eternal and immutable but God is also a god of love and mercy who knows his

children and knows what is best for them at each moment in history God is a God who reveals himself progressively to his people and gives them his word according to their maturity and their ability to understand and Obey it this is what is called the progressive revelation of the word of God this means that God did not give all his word to his people at once but gradually delivered it through various means such as nature conscience prophets Miracles laws covenants Etc God gradually revealed himself to his people from the simplest to the most complex from

the most General to the most specific from the external to the internal until reaching the climax of his Revelation which is Jesus Christ the word made flesh the image of the invisible God God the author and perfector of faith in conclusion God allowed incest in the early times of humanity because it was the only way to fulfill his plan to populate the Earth with his children and because there was no risk or problem in doing so since the DNA of Adam and Eve was perfect and had no mutations or defects however God later prohibited incest
