husbands and the kingdoms they ruled but also left an indelible mark on Biblical history so sit back as we get into these gripping Stories full of intrigue and suspense number one Jezebel the queen of idolatry and manipulation our first Story begins with Jezebel a name synonymous with wickedness and idolatry Jezebel was the daughter of ithal the king of the sidonians and a high priest of Baal her name in Phoenician meant Primrose but in Hebrew it translated to garbage reflecting how she was perceived in Israel when King a Ahab of Israel married Jezebel it marked a
significant turning point for the kingdom this was the first instance where an Israelite King Allied himself by marriage to a heathen princess directly defying God's command not to intermar with Idol worshippers Jezebel's influence over Ahab was profound steering him further into idolatry and away from God the Bible tells us that Ahab did more to provoke the Lord the god of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him first Kings 16:33 much of this was due to Jezebel's influence she was determined to establish Bal worship throughout Israel leading to a period
of intense idolatry and moral Decay one of the most dramatic confrontations between Jezebel's followers and the true prophets of God took place on Mount Carmel El elah the prophet of God challenged the prophets of Baal to attest to prove whose deity was real the prophets of Baal failed to invoke their God but Elijah's prayer was answered by fire from heaven consuming the offering and proving the supremacy of the Lord despite this miraculous event Jezebel remained unrepentant and sought to kill Elijah one of the most infamous acts of Jezebel's cruelty was the murder of naboth a
righteous man who owned a Vineyard that Ahab coveted naboth refused to sell his ancestral land to the king adhering to the law that family inheritance should not be sold Ahab was disheartened by naboth's refusal but Jezebel took matters into her own hands she orchestrated a devious plot writing letters in ahab's name commanding the Elders of naboth's City to falsely accuse him of blasphemy and treason naboth was unjustly stoned to death and Ahab seized the vineyard this act of treachery was condemned by Elijah who prophesied that ahab's dynasty would be wiped out and that Jezebel would
be eaten by dogs indeed Jezebel met her end in a gruesome manner years later as prophesied jiu a commander anointed by the prophet Elisha to be king came to jezel Jezebel adorned in her Royal attire looked out from a window and mocked ji who he ordered her Unix to throw her down from the window she fell to her death and her body was devoured by dogs fulfilling Elijah's prophecy number two athelia the queen who massacred an entire Royal Family next we turn to aalia Jezebel's daughter who ruled as Queen of Judah her story is a
